Inconsistent Actions/Modes - Wastes Game Time

For speed, I set the game to “numbers first” mode. But when I select the pencil, to input notes, it switches back to “squares first” mode. But that’s not the worst of it. When I am entering the same number in several squares, one after the other, if I tap on a square that has notes in it, the game goes into notes mode, instead of entering the selected number in the square. So I have to go back and tap on the selected number. Then it’s in the wrong mode again. This really slows down game play.

This game is supposed to be a challenge. But the biggest challenge is trying to figure out which mode the game is going to switch into next and when it’s going to do it.

When you select numbers first mode, it should stay in that mode until you tell it otherwise. I played 2/3 of the way through a diabolical level game in 10 minutes and spent five minutes of that time trying to get the game back into the correct mode. I should have been through with the game in that time.

The only reason I didn’t rate this game 1-star is because it has some of the least obtrusive ads I’ve come across in a this app game. But if the game doesn’t work in a reliable and logical manner, then placement of the ads is immaterial.

I think that the developer was trying to show off his skills and forgot the cardinal rule in developing any app.

K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid.

Too bad…

I’m deleting Sudoku when I finish writing this review.

Have to pay for levels above medium.....

I love this app and all the varieties the puzzle comes in. I downloaded Sudoku because it appeared to have a variety of levels including my fave Mega this app. However, once I opened Sudoku I was disappointed to see the only levels avail are easy or medium. You have to upgrade (pay) to unlock the games they feature in their pics. Not koo y'all!! Other than that I gave 2 stars because the medium level games took a little longer than I expected to complete and I like that it has the option to note multiple numbers in a square until you decide on your final answer. But I really think I am going to uninstall this game and search for one that has access to many levels w/o having to pay for it!!

Note to Developers: You should consider some sort of trial to access the higher levels. My issue isn't the price of the upgrade, it's not knowing if I will like the upgraded levels and games. Allow us to try and then buy!!

Thanks*

Best layout for sudoku

I guess I’ve tried dozens of this app apps over the years, and my biggest disappointment with some games is ease of play - how accurately can I fill in the squares with big clumsy fingers on a little screen.
Mind The Frog has nailed their interface, and created an input system so accurate I could play with my toes or my nose.
The puzzles themselves are straightforward - no ‘magic’ variation, no 6x6, and nothing using symbols. It would be great to see some creative puzzles here, at least in the challenges.
The interface is flawless, and maybe in time we’ll see some more puzzles to take advantage of it.

Almost perfect

I love this app but I can’t stand most this app apps. This one doesn’t have the problem with needing to toggle through digits or tiles and it allows for more than one note to be placed per cell. I will say that it does drive me nuts that I have to select every cell and then input the notes I want. I often like to go numerically than cell-by-cell, so I’d appreciate a note feature similar to the “Number then Cell” feature where I can select a number and have each subsequent cell I tap noted with that number. If it weren’t for the notes I’d’ve bought the ad-free version ages ago and never try another this app app. BUT it must be said that this one by far is already the best I’ve tried.

Like the notes capability, hate the assumptions.

I like that Sudoku allows the user to make notes, but I absolutely HATE that there is some kind of an underlying assumption that puts numbers into cells before I am ready (which then causes my notes to get wiped from other cells!) This function leads me down the wrong path half. I don't want Sudoku to automatically remove my notes. I want to do that myself. Also, toggling is a royal pain. Sometimes I accidentally leave the notes button off between cells and have to immediately go back and redo. If Sudoku has made edits for me while I am doing that I can't tell the difference between what I've done and what Sudoku did for me. Very frustrating. Getting a different this app app because I can't stand it.

Sudoku

I use this game app multiple times a day. It’s fun and easy with many different difficulty levels for users. The interface is easy to use and there is minimal set up involved in using Sudoku . The cons are that there are annoying commercials after each game that can take a while to let you past them. I also haven’t found a “cheat” button yet to help with when I am doing a much harder level and get stuck for 15 minutes staring at the board and not seeing any moves. Overall I enjoy this this app app more than others I have tried.

By far best Sudoku app

I play on the hardest possible settings and so some of the features that stand apart it’s Sudoku make it much more convenient. For example, auto fill note, and highlighting all notes and chosen numbers whenever you choose a number. This makes it possible to visualize notes to do X wing and swordfish.
My only complaint is that there is a big gap between expert and diabolical. Expert I can solve in a minutes with just one advanced technique required, whereas with diabolical I get to a pint where I pretty much have it guess.

Frustrating to play, too many taps

I create my own notes rather than have the game calculate them for me. So I start with 1s and fill in each possibility. When I change to 2s (or tap any number), the game automatically switches from note to answer mode. Tap the note box again, fill in all the options, repeat.

Once I'm ready to start answering, it's the opposite: It automatically switches to note mode every time I select a square. Tap the note box again to deactivate it, answer, repeat.

It should stay in whatever mode you've selected until you change it yourself. Otherwise, it's a whole lot of tapping back and forth for no reason. This seems not to bother most people, but it renders the game unplayable for me.

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for.

Sudoku has all the functions an avid this app fan is looking for. Simple UI that allows for easy switching between numbers and a multiple number selection option. You can increase your skill level and create notes. My favorite is the ads are only between games. I would only suggest one change to Sudoku, a number should grey out once it’s complete but I wouldn’t deduct a star for that. Great app!!

Wonderful Sudoku App

I love Sudoku! I’ve tried a few other this app apps that felt awkward or unintuitive but this one is so easy to use and I like the input mode that doesn’t require you to tap the number for every box. My only nitpick is that I like the idea of playing on dark mode, but the lines are so hard to see I can’t keep track of the boxes. But as far as the main gameplay, level options, etc I think it’s great.

Challenging

This is, as stated above, a challenging game at every level! I usually breeze through other this app games at the “Medium Difficulty” level but not this one! I will think I am doing well half way through the game, but then find I’ll find I have placed some of the individual numbers incorrectly. It is a wonderful game. Sometimes it is frustrating but, oh, I feel so good when I solve one of the puzzles. It comes down to me challenging myself!!

Just OK.

I'm used to another app so it took a while to adjust to this one. I like the feature where you can select the tile of a number and it highlights all those numbers on the grid. If you select a blank space it puts that number in that space. But when entering “possible” numbers for a space it an get cumbersome to get the number in there. Even if there is only one left, you cannot just enter it into the cell. Once you figure this out it is workable but I wish there was another way. The “Easy” mode seems easy but the “medium” mode seems mush harder.

Great game

I’ve enjoyed this game for years. Many levels of challenges provided as my skill level has improved.

The only improvement that I would make is when all of a particular number has been used, that the number on the panel grays out slightly to show they’ve all been used, (for instance, when all the 7’s have been played, the 7 on the panel grays out slightly). If one of those numbers is removed, the grey number would no longer be gray.

Best Sudoku App

This is the best this app app. It looks attractive, the ads aren’t bad at all, and it’s highly functional in that you touch the cell first and then the number you want to put in and all the 3s are highlighted when you select 3. The number buttons also have a grid symbol that shows which of the 9 sections have that number in them. I think you can also add number notes, although I haven’t done that.

Simple, enjoyable, free

I am seriously considering paying for the enhanced version. This version has uninvasive ads and only has up to medium difficulty. I do not use notes because I enjoy the extra challenge.

My experience has been enjoyable, my only wish is that with a simple in app purchase I could upgrade rather than downloading an additional enhanced up. But that's obviously a minor inconvenience.

Good sudoku app

I hate the apps where if you make a mistake they make you lose a life. Not only does this take away from the challenge of solving a puzzle on your own, but it discourages intuition and lets you know how the puzzle is supposed to be solved without you figuring it out on your own. I love that Sudoku doesn’t do any such thing. Great app! It’s like playing on the regular paper!

Review

I love playing this app. This format could be improved by making the pencil stay on til it is turned off by the player and vise versa. Right now, it seems to function randomly. I would also like the undo function to be more consistent as well. Sometimes u can activate undo by touching the mistake again and sometimes undo can only be achieved by pushing undo

Thank you

The very BEST sudoku app!

I love it! I’ve tried so many versions of this app apps, and none come close to this one. It’s very easy to use. Plenty of features to turn on/off to suit you play-style.

Feature request: double tapping should also promote hidden singles (the only number in a row/column/box), instead of just naked singles. And thanks again for the awesome app! 😃

Trump Ads

Until today I enjoyed your app. But your clear ignorance to the endorsement of advertisement of our insane leader, the President of the US leaves me know choice but to boycott your app. He is one who on a daily bases continues to spread separate us. He is vile and filled with lies and the maturity of a 4 year old
and is frankly running this beautiful country into the graveyard. If you stop running these adds please let me know.

Pretty good

I think that this game is pretty good.
I enjoy the many different levels of puzzles available. The only frustration I have is when I accidentally hit a square with an answer (when it is meant to be a guess number) and all the other guesses automatically disappear. It is hard to remove the accidental number and put back in all the numbers that were automatically deleted.

Was there an update just recently to the game?

I have loved this game for several years and purchased it. I play it almost every day, play through all levels of difficulty before I end for the night. It’s always been an excellent game. So much better than really any other out there because it is like doing a this app on paper.
I’m concerned because this week, it appeared as it my app received an update. It looks very different in appearance than before. The standard of play is also different and more awkward.
When I went into the Apple App Store to read about the updates or to try to refresh Sudoku , I was able to open the older app. However, I cannot download the original app to my home screen. I am only able to use in from within the Apple App Store. This is Sudoku I originally purchased and want to use. Not only is the new one glitchy, it has commercials after every play. I paid so that I wouldn’t have to experience this.
How can I change my settings to go back to the other version?
Please respond.
Thank you.
