Hack RUN Reviews

After playing games like Hacknet on STEAM i was looking for a cool terminal sim to play on my phone. Hack Run fills the void perfectly. With an interesting story and gameplay that requires you to keeps pushing you to think outside the box, players have no shortage of things to uncover and learn. My only complaint is that the game doesn't have ANY music or sound effects, so its not fully immersive and doesn't create any tension or sense of urgency. But, since its a mobile game you can throw on whatever music you want and just get into it. Really excited to play all the sequels! Must play if you're looking for a fun mobile hacking game!

I want to let someone know that this awesome old skool crt terminal type game of awesomeness is having a negative reaction on my iPhone Xr, iOS 13. Almost immediately, as the text scrolls down the screen, the keyboard starts freaking out and the text winds up behind the keyboard. When I landscape it, the text scrolls up and out of sight. Then when I touch the screen, it returns to the position where the keyboard is covering where the cursor of the game text is. So I can’t even enjoy the game. Just wants to give people the heads up. Once again thanks for all of Hack Run fun!!!

I was so sure it was coming to an end at level 50 because the walkthrough said it was. And it really bummed me out when I found out you upgraded and now it has like 60 levels. I enjoyed it but at that moment I thought I was gonna end it after two hours of hard work. Great idea tho, I never thought a word game could be addicting.

The story felt a bit... all over the place if I'm being honest, but it was stil cohesive enough with some interesting twists here and there. Being an IT guy, the gameplay loop of having to type commands to progress was obviously what hooked me in, and the way you discover the exact parameters you need in a specific case made for some pretty interesting puzzles. Overall, I'd recommend it if you know your way around a terminal and are looking for a fun way to pass the time.

Hey thx for the wonderful game developers! The only thing was I had to get through all the mail and whatnot, and that was a tedious process... Other than that this game was perfect!

I completed the game without any walkthroughs or hints OR answers! I am a master at hacking! Also this game is really good, but not really hacking fyi, but it is a fun game to enjoy on the run or something. Hope people reading this, (and yes I am looking at you) get HackRUN, and try it out! Enjoy peeps.

I’m not sure what I expected when I downloaded this game, but an immersive web of hacking, passwords, websites, and ****** (censored for spoilers 😉 ) was not it. I was feeling like a bona-fide hacker by the end of it. Seriously, I can’t believe this game is free. Only complaint that I can think of is that the voicemails didn’t play for me. If I could give this more than five stars, I would. Thanks for the great ride. Whoever wrote the story did an amazing job.

The developers have stated a few years back for ages they were working on online multiplayer features and have had it delayed many times and now it's not there anymore? They're going to brush it off like it never happened? The rest of HackRUN is ok I guess but it's truly disappointing coming back a few years later to see they've never filled my promise as expected. Update Dec. 2021: Still no mention anymore of the promised online, changed to 1 star. Absolutely lame. 5/8/22: Still nothing. Come on guys, you scammed everyone. 😂

So abt 3 years ago I was at my cousins house with my other cousins for a sleep over, at the time we where all obsessed with watch dogs so I downloaded this. There was a Christmas light that kept flickering on and off and I told my cousins I was hacking it and they believed me😂
My aunt said to hack the smart lock on her door and she went into the other side and unlocked it so I ended up believing that it worked

i LOVE arg’s, and i actually didn’t know it was going to be as arg-esque as it ended up being. i did end up using both of my answers to get through it, but if you’re willing to think outside of the box and just kind of brute force your way through it, it’s actually not that difficult. definitely way fun & i would recommend it for sure!

*SPOILERS* I though it was great. A very authentic experience with a cool system. The system seemed real, and the hacking commands are as close to the real thing as some can get. It seemed real. The story was good, but started heading down hill. Loved it, then they made it, Aliens. They had what could have been a great hacking story with what could have been great twist. But a cheap alien backstory took the front seat. It ruined it for me. It seemed like it could have been a realistic hacking experience, now I'm hesitant on getting the others.

Fun game at first. However, once you get to level 50 or so, it feels like the game wasn't finished and/or tested. For example, there's no way to find out Alice's prisoner number, you don't get a notification you've received an email titled 'drunhack', and while the hint to get to lvl 54 says you've been given a website url, you haven't. I ran out of clues so I just gave up. I enjoyed it until then, though, so once they have the glitches worked out I'd reconsider playing it.

Whenever i try to type commands, the game doesn’t allow me to see what I’m typing as the commands continue down the screen so i have to rotate my phone back and forth in order for it to scroll down because the keyboard is blocking what I’m trying to see. Also just tried the game again and it wouldn’t scroll downwards as i tried to see my commands I’ve put in. I’ve recently upgraded to iOS 13.

This was an interesting game. You gather clues from every scrap of data you can access to advance to the next task. If you don't like reading or computer operating systems, this game is not for you. If you come from a programmer background and speak unix, you may laugh at the simplicity but it is still fun to play.

I just downloaded it and I don't rlly no how to use it but it's cool I'm just scared that it might "hack" my phone then teach us how to hack out of it but idk so far how to use it but once I get to no how use it I will update this

I'd have given 4 stars were not for the aliens part of the story.

It's a good puzzle game. Difficulty of levels are moderate, the console and command feel real, love the first half of the play, I almost started to feel like I'm really hacking sth, until the aliens shows up.

It seems like a joke to me, I mean, any hollywood no brainer like corrupt CIA and stuff is better than aliens…Apparently the play writer wasn't paid well so s/he gave up halfway.

I reached lvl 16 and tried to log into the sales reps in the hack program. When I type in Gayle and may as he password isn’t not recognized. Even is I use 5 for the month or 05. I attempted David and Brian’s user names and may, including numbers and original passwords to try and log in. Also used their middle names.

This is one of those games where you just can't stop playing... and I love it! The mix of out-of-the-box thinking and a great storyline make the gameplay very enjoyable. The web browser is also very innovative. Plus, the jokes are pretty funny! All in all, a game I'd thoroughly recommend!

when I started to play this game I thought is gonna be super fun but I just started getting really awkward and weird because I didn’t know what to type in and it makes no sense because it doesn’t give you any tutorials or what to do so I get this a two out of 5 So yes if I if it gave me some tutorials in what to do I’ll probably give it to five but didn’t so I’m gonna start deleting this game right now

It was a good game all the way up till level 7 then when I was trying to put the password for Alice’s workspace in it wasent working so I searched it up and got the password and made sure multiple times I put it in right and it still wasent working. I also tried to do Brian’s just to see and it wasent working either even tho I did it at least 3 times, and I knew the password. Can’t even go forward in the game till it’s fixed.

This game is super fun despite its simple concept and execution. There’s no fancy mechanic or what not. You feel good playing this, and sometimes you get stuck but it doesn’t take too long to figure it out. Grinding through it within one sitting is the best.

Audio clips don't play when they're supposed to (I did check my volume settings). This poses a problem when you need to listen to a voicemail to get necessary information. Fortunately, you can just play the voicemail and then use a walkthrough to get the info you need from it.
