Simple Grocery List Reviews

As many have stated, I looked a long time for something to make multiple lists. I have one for each grocery type store. We travel a lot, so I have my local lists and Costco and Trader Joe's. We have a second home so I have those local stores as well. We build custom homes and I decorate homes so I'm always restocking my tool box so I have a Lowes and HD list. I like that it lets you keep checked off items at the top, however, the only drawback is, as someone else stated, I would like it to keep the items in the order I need them for each store isle, AND move the checked off items to the bottom. Every store is laid out somewhat differently and that would be so helpful, leave it by order input and check off items at the bottom. That's my input. Otherwise it is super handy for me. Thank so much! Oh, I just discovered the differ t themes after reading a review and I really like that! That makes it fun and different to view and brighter and easier for my older eyes to see. Thanks again!

Really needs to be able to share the list via SimpleGroceryList NOT via email. Signed up for the coupon list but it added a THIRD-PARTY email account and SEPARATE profile to my iPhone. A bit intrusive IMO. Why not just add your email account to receive coupons instead of adding a profile and email account (which was a bit difficult to remove!) SIGH. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER: While setting up SimpleGroceryList on my IPhone 7Plus, apparently an ad popped up during installation/setup as an offer for local coupons. It appeared as if this were part of the set up of SimpleGroceryList . Though your app specifically may not do what I described, ads appearing WITHIN SimpleGroceryList WHILE setting up/using SimpleGroceryList seem to be contributed to your app. Maybe this is an Apple issue on how ads are presented to the user (I.e. Click bait), making it seem like it's from the developer. Either way, I've deleted SimpleGroceryList . Thank you for your response.

Several months ago I asked for a feature to be added to my Simple Grocery List app. Nothing happened, I thought. Recently, I made a second request for this feature. This is the actual e-mail I got from the friendly folks at Route 1 Software sent to me the next day.

"It is already available in the iOS settings app, choose Grocery List. Additional options are available there. See pics. Choose display alpha index.”

Yep, they even sent pictures for this 74 years old technically challenged senior. They didn’t even add (comma) “dummy”.

Here’s an abbreviated copy of my request: “I have accumulated a little under 500 items in my primary grocery list. If I need to check fish sauce in the Asian section and Ziploc storage bags in the Storage section that’s a lot of scrolling! I have previously suggested an alphabet vertically displayed along the right hand edge of the list to facilitate navigation. Perhaps something similar to iPhone’s contact list.” Wendell

I used to love SimpleGroceryList because of its simplicity and features of being able to create shopping list categories and multiple lists. The biggie, though, simplicity, went away when Dropbox got tied into this. Now, every single time I open SimpleGroceryList , SimpleGroceryList directs me straight to the Internet and a drop box page, regardless of whether I am trying to share the list or not. Even when my iPhone screen goes to sleep & I wake it up again, I have to go back into the list, then get routed to dropbox again, and close it out. This is so annoying, especially when I have to close a page multiple times in the middle of grocery shopping! I searched for updates for SimpleGroceryList and support for this issue but found none. I am deleting SimpleGroceryList as I have switched to List Ease, which offers the same features and more, plus simplicity without pestering me with a dropbox page every few moments.

Simple grocery list has always been one of my favorite apps because I can make list for different stores. I even figured out how to put the aisle number of an item on my favorite store. When you check off an item, it goes to the bottom of your list until you uncheck it again. You can sort alphabetically by item or tag. It makes your life so simple when shopping. I have used it for years!
However, during the past few months, SimpleGroceryList has suddenly begun to erase items from my current list and randomly add items from past lists! Makes SimpleGroceryList totally useless! Developers, do you have a fix for this problem? If you can fix this, my rating will go back up to a 5-star!

Love SimpleGroceryList and it’s free! I can create a shopping list for multiple stores and can label each item by a category or aisle and can choose for it to sort the list by category or alphabet. Can check off each item in the list as grab it or can swipe and delete it away. Can send the list to someone via text or email if they are doing the shopping. If they don’t have SimpleGroceryList it just lists the items in whatever order I chose to sort them, but it’s great!! Highly recommend!

My mom uses SimpleGroceryList all the time. I thought I would try it out. Making my grocery list was pretty easy. There were a couple of features I wish it had, but overall I was happy. That was until I tried to use SimpleGroceryList while I was out shopping. The store I was at doesn't get very much cell reception except for in the very front of the store. I didn't expect it to affect SimpleGroceryList , but it did. While I was shopping SimpleGroceryList didn't want to load, or I couldn't check items off my list. I would go to the front of the store just to get it to work. I ended up taking screenshots of my list just so I could shop. I really wanted to love SimpleGroceryList like my mom does, but it failed me when I needed it most.

I’ve used SimpleGroceryList for a very long time and I really like it. I like the simple structure and stored list of items making it quicker to build lists. I have had some issues with lists randomly resetting to an older, previous list, changes dropped, while shopping. I deleted and reloaded SimpleGroceryList and it’s working better. It would be nice if photos could be added but SimpleGroceryList is great without it and that may go beyond the ‘simple’ design 😁

I’ve used them all and they seem to try to do too much. This is great for all repetitive lists: not just grocery but my travel checklists, medications, packing, everything yet so easy and simple.
I have only one recommendation: often I need to add a new item while compiling my list for something. I wish it would be checked when done because most such thing come up when compiling. Maybe there’s a way I don’t get and it’s still the way apps should be: does what it should right from the first download.

I generally walk the aisles of my supermarket in one direction, encountering items on my list as I pass through the aisles. Consequently, I set up the items in the order I would encounter them. Were I then to only show checked items, I cannot revert to the original list of items as I encounter them. The list goes to an alphabetized state instead.

Please allow us to create the option to freeze a list of groceries set up in the order they are encountered such that it can be maintained while we put the checked items at the top.

SimpleGroceryList is super simple and easy to use. I love it!
The only thing that’s preventing it from having 5 stars is not having the ability to send the list to my husband (he has SimpleGroceryList as well) and vise versa. I can send him the list via email, but it’s not the same. Being able to send him the list and have it come up on his app, so he’s able to see the notes and check off items would be awesome!

I have been using SimpleGroceryList for awhile now and love it. Very easy to use and syncs between my devices. I use this for more than just groceries. I have a list for our cabin, Xmas list for each of my kids and more. I have emailed my groceries list and have had no problems as a previous review stated and no add pop ups.
Shopping at multiple stores? Easy just make a list for each store so you don’t have a easy shopping trip!

I had been using it on my iPhone for at least 6 months when my phone decided it needed a factory reset. I dreaded the thought of having to re-enter my entire grocery pantry list! Thank the computer Gods for Dropbox! That one feature saved me DAYS of entries!

My only wish now was that spell check would work when typing an item into a list. Is there any iPhone suggestions to make that work?

Easy to use. Easy to add & delete. Easy to access from my phone. Picks up on what you're typing to offer choices of grocery items to list. Adds the things you type that aren't already included on the ap so they show up for you the next time you use the ap. Easy to read from phone while shopping. I don't know why anyone would complain. It's exactly what I wanted. Thank you.

I love SimpleGroceryList and use it everyday. I purchased the upgrade to remove ads and it worked for awhile. Now every time I use it I get the pop up ads and have to restore my purchases. Having to do that each time is getting to be a pain. Also, I only use it on my phone but when I open a list I get a message that the list was changed on another device. And I have to delete that message about 4 times before I can use SimpleGroceryList . That is even more annoying than the ads!

It’s a terrific app and I simply love the fact that I can alphabetize my lists!

However, here’s a suggestion - Please allow the user to have the checked items at the TOP. If it’s a shopping list and you check what you need, you have to scroll down to the bottom to see what’s needed, and that’s cumbersome.

I could find that allows me to add an item and put the location of said item along with it. If it’s produce, that’s where it goes. If it’s on aisle 5 of my favorite store, I add that.

When the list comes up, it’s all sorted for me so I don’t have to keep going back.

I’ve used SimpleGroceryList for years and love the simplicity. Lately, (I’m thinking the last month or so) every time I tap an item it puts 2 on my grocery list and I have to delete one. Haven’t given up yet but I might if it is constantly doing it. Right now it is occasional.

When you sort the list by "Sort Tag/Checked", the checked list goes to the bottom on the entire list. Before the most recent update with Dropbox, the sort would put the list at the top.

SimpleGroceryList is very good, and I will continue to use it, but please try to fix the sort.

I liked SimpleGroceryList... until I got married and needed to share/ sync. If the sync lasts 2 weeks, you're lucky. We have the same phones, 1gb internet service, and LTE everywhere we go... but for whatever reason, the sync will screw up just about every week. Reset and sometimes turning dropbox off and on will fix it, but lately nothing fixes it. Tired of it. SimpleGroceryList is currently junk. Find a different way to sync or get rid of this annoying and useless feature. I want my money back.
