One of the best- Was Better until recently

I downloaded CheckbookHD when I had the original free app but it limited the number of transactions. Then I paid for this version for about $3. Been using it close to 10 years probably. It was great up until very recently. I noticed that when I got my new phone and had to download the latest version, and make sure it was backed up with iCloud, the new version was very buggy. When I enter my passcode it starts scrolling through the data and is very annoying. Then there’s the large banner ad at the bottom that obscures part of my accounts. Constantly having to close this ad every time I open CheckbookHD is VERY annoying! I rely on CheckbookHD to keep track of my checking account for multiple credit unions and for multiple savings accounts. It’s very helpful for keeping me organized. Please fix it. I don’t need MoneyPro. Just liked the simplicity of CheckbookHD for tracking my deposits, withdrawals and transfers between accounts. I’d consider paying for CheckbookHD again, if it means the developer will fix it. Sometimes it’s crashing now as well. CheckbookHD is something I use everyday, several times per day.

Great app but with one glaring inconvenience

I originally downloaded CheckbookHD on my Mac in 2012 and it worked well but I stopped using it after some personal issues made my life spiral out of control. After all this time I’m back to using it and it’s great but there’s one issue that makes it pointless that CheckbookHD is offered on multiple platforms. The iCloud sync functionality is pretty much useless. Sure, it can back up the information, but those backups are separated by device so if you set everything up on your Mac and want to use CheckbookHD on your iPhone you literally have to start from scratch. Come on guys. It’s 2020. I realize that you’ve saved the fresh, clean, modern look for your MoneyPro app, but can you at least offer us plebs the incentive to use CheckbookHD on multiple platforms if you’re spending the time to develop them?

I had really come to rely on this app.(caveats)

CheckbookHD hasn’t been upgraded now for seven months. That’s ridiculous. Do you even support it anymore? People have asked for fingerprint sign on for example(crickets from your end). Now my iPad is no longer synching with iCloud. I’ve opened a contact with support. Am I only going to hear crickets on that too? Seems like you are pushing us toward this money pro or whatever it’s called. Is that why you’re not helping us now? Some of us just want and need a good basic checkbook app. We don’t need a bunch of other bells and whistles. So what if ui isn’t the greatest. It was doing what I needed it to do, until now. I guarantee you I won’t move to another of your apps if this is your plan.

I've used CheckbookHD for years now and it's completely replaced my having to make any entries in to the checkbook register. It helps me stay completely sync' with the bank. The only thing I would really like to see is fingerprint security.

Great but a sudden glitch

I've been using CheckbookHD for a few years. Love it. I want simple, this is simple. I inserted an expense the other day and it was subtracted. The next day the transaction disappeared, but the total was accurate. I went to rectify numbers today and when I checked January, arrowed back to December, then back to January, all of my January transactions were gone. I'm willing to purchase pro but there aren't enough reviews. I don't want to insert new transactions until you confirm this glitch has been taken care of. This is a big one. Thank you.

Another concern with upgrade is the use of two devices syncing current data from the device most recently used. I want to keep using this. I Hope you can keep it running as smooth as it has been for the last two years.

Nice app

I have been a quicken user on my pc for Many years, and with a move to Apple, I needed another checkbook program. I have been looking for a while, tried a couple and I think I am going to like this one. I don’t want a fancy investment or budget tracker, just an app to reconcile my checkbook.l like being able to create additional categories, reoccurring transactions and the overall look of the interface. The only thing l miss ( it’s possible it is here and I have not found it yet) is a printed reconciliation report. And I only like that as a backup, which I really don’t need, just feel more comfortable if I have it. One other minor item is being able to split categories for 1 transaction, but, again, I don’t think it’s enough of a concern to take away stars. CheckbookHD is very intuitive, and there is a nice tutorial. Thanks for a great app.

No longer good

I’ve used CheckbookHD for many years and it’s been a life/sanity saver! It’s kept me from overdrafting and has always been super easy to use. UNTIL THE NEW VERSION CAME OUT! When they got rid of the old app and forced everyone to move over to this one, I lost all my data from years of purchases (to their credit, they did make it accessible again, but now I’m afraid to use it except to look up old purchases). And this new app is so buggy that I scream every time I use it. It CONSTANTLY resets and deletes entries I’ve made so that when I go to make sure things line up, charges are missing and it looks like I have more in my account then I thought I did. And it absolutely will not enter recurring charges. I’ve tried entering them and deleting them SO MANY TIMES, and they still don’t show up so I end up having to enter them manually, but again it looks like I have more in my account then I actually do. I can’t trust CheckbookHD anymore and it’s definitely not a sanity saver so I will be finding a new one.

Better than the old MONEY but ...

I have used Money for years, it’s no longer supported, I could never balance correctly to the bank but with Checkbook I can finally balance to the bank and track my expenditures monthly given the cleared function. The major difference is with Money you could project income and expenses out thru the future months but with Checkbook you can enter re-occurring bills but you work expenses and income in the current month with no visibility of projected balances, current or on the future. Guess that’s a search for another app.

Best Register Out There!

App is free, just a banner at the bottom with some ads and sometimes an add or pop up when you open CheckbookHD asking to upgrade but otherwise it’s free. Also, I think it’s the only free account register app that allows you to balance multiple accounts. It’s really user friendly, can pair both iphone and ipad so you can update one or the other and both will show the same info. I tried 3 other supposedly “free” apps before finding this one and they would only allow you to add 1 account for free and any additional accounts would require you purchase, or in some cases subscribe, the updated app. Great app!

Good app with minor issues...

I like CheckbookHD and I’ve used it for years but I’m tired of it trying to sell me their other products. I have the paid version and it’s all I need. A couple of times a week it asking me to “upgrade to money pro” I don’t need it stop asking. Also I wish it could sync across two different Apple accounts for my husband and I. Can be great but has some issues. Also some upgrades are good some can be problematic. Every time I open CheckbookHD now it syncs to the cloud which is great except I have to wait for it to finish before I can enter anything otherwise it doesn’t save the entry. I like it and I recommend it or something like it but make sure you back up your data no matter what.

Very easy to use

I have no complain. I know sometimes notification keep telling me to upgrade the pro version but I just need basic checkbook app so the free one ok for me. Btw I don’t mind paying CheckbookHD $0.99 but since its free nothing I can do except saying thank you developer you made a wonderful app. Finally I recommend anyone who needs managing his/her expenses depending on the situation get the free basic version or the pro version. Trust me you’ll not disappoint by these apps. Oh I was forgotten to say something, developer can you add Touch ID it helps easily to open CheckbookHD ? I Hope you can. Keep it up. :)

A little laggy

I have the free version and I have to say that for the most part CheckbookHD works well. But lately I find it to be very laggy when syncing. When reconciling my account, I often switch back and forth between CheckbookHD an my bank app. Each time I reenter the checkbook app, there is a significant delay while it refreshes. It might be a security thing, but it seems like it should do a better job caching or something. It's gotten quite frustrating.

Becoming useless after years of working fantastic

I've used CheckbookHD since the early 2010's and just started backing up to the cloud. It now crashes every 20 seconds or so, inserted some crazy deposit that I'm mystified about (I didn't deposit $7500 - I wish!), and it's just difficult to search for a specific transaction. Plus they seem to have abandoned CheckbookHD for Money Pro. I purchased and worked with Money but it's far too complicated.
This was a simple, checkbook ledger app that worked great for many years. But the constant crashing makes it impossible to use. DONE. I'll take the hint and move on to some other simple ledger app instead.

So Far I Like It!

Took a little time for learning curve. About 15 minutes! Had accounts and postings all done in about two hours. Very happy to just come home and enter receipts immediately instead of throwing in box and getting around to posting once or twice a month on laptop. So much simpler!! Wish I could change auto clear to not be selected. Happy right now I chose CheckbookHD and not another. Others have complained about up sell but even at .99 it’s a bargain.

Perfection!

Started using CheckbookHD after several failed attempts at another checkbook app and I fell in love immediately! I even upgraded to Money Pro! These apps work flawlessly with each other and even between my iPad and iPhone. Super easy to add entries, categories and reoccurring debits. I love being able to see each account balance at a glance without having to log into multiple bank apps. Great graphics and so user friendly! Thanks for a great app, or 2!! Love them!!!

Needs updating by developer

I’ve used CheckbookHD for years and love its simplicity in helping track transactions/balances on multiple accounts. With the latest iOS update however CheckbookHD is glitching hardcore - it won’t even stay open for more than 30 seconds at best before closing and transactions have started randomly disappearing from years prior so balances are no longer accurate. Reaching out to developer support has yielded little in response or assistance with this issue. I’d hate to have to restart everything in a new app, but am seriously looking for other options since the developer seems unconcerned and uninterested in continuing to upkeep CheckbookHD appropriately.

Better than expected

I have migrated from using a PC to an iPad and the only thing that had me really concerned was managing my finances. I had been using one of the top programs for 15-20 years and had tried many different programs, none of which I liked until this one. I have only been using it a short time but have found no issues with it. For my need I find it as good as the top PC programs to do everything that I need.

Great App, Great Customer Support

Great app for basic checkbook balancing and more. I was having issues with CheckbookHD and customer support resolved my issue quickly! CheckbookHD syncs data well between my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook very well. The MacBook app is not free, but was worth the money. CheckbookHD has stylish graphics. There are some ad banners to upgrade to Checkbook Pro in the mobile version, and the syncing is a bit slow for iOS 11, but it’s bearable.

Usage

I have been using CheckbookHD for a few years now. It works great for me. The only problems I’ve been having have been here lately. I will bring up CheckbookHD , go to the account I’m working on an sometimes it will just shut down on me and I have to start all over again. I hope they will come up with some bug fixes for these problems, other than that I love it.

One complaint

I use CheckbookHD to maintain my bank balance. It’s great at tracking my expenses. My only complaint is the list of payees. I absolutely HATE having to scroll through a huge long list of the payees that I regularly pay money to. Auto complete would make CheckbookHD five star. I would so much rather begin typing a name and have suggestions pop up below for me to choose. You know. Kinda like EVERY OTHER APP OR WEBSITE!! Please please update this.

Simple app

I like CheckbookHD and use it for a while I can have multiple checking and saving accounts it’s simple easy-to-use very nice to keep track of where the money goes. One thing I don’t like is the advertisement of upgrading every time I open CheckbookHD I wish there was a way to turn that off permanently because I’m not interested in upgrading to anything else.

Needs fixing still

I use CheckbookHD everyday and have been for years and since this latest update I’ve had problems. When my auto transactions populate into the checking account if I need to change the dollar amount I might have to do it multiple times before it saves. That is the same for just putting in new transactions they are not saving the first time I put them in. Please fix CheckbookHD. This is what keeps all my accounts for me.
