What? No journey features? I just beat the game on Trainyard EX, after reading some websites I was excited to buy the full version to get faster trains so my phone doesn't have to be left on for days to see how long the journey I could create for my train. I estimated that I could get the train to travel well over 1 million, but the paid version eliminates the journey tracking entirely and the train is still super slow. Don't give me wrong, I love the game – – brilliant! A very big challenge to beat all of the levels, but I was just trying to take the game a little further. Thanks for your amazing work on this cool little game.

Great game, but...

I LOVE logic games, and this one - Train Yard EX - doesn't disappoint! It starts out seeming very simple, and it is. The concepts are easy to grasp and the results satisfying. Then the levels of difficulty begin to increase until it gets downright hard - but in a good way!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I made it through the first five levels and was ready to start New Brunswick (6) when a large white rectangle popped up covering most of the screen! The problem is it's BLANK!

I'm assuming it's an ad, either for the $.99 level, or telling me I've completed all the free levels and it's time to move up to the $.99 level.
What's frustrating is that I first just assumed random glitchy ad and deleted and reloaded the game thinking that might clear it. Then I stayed up until 2 am playing all 5 levels again only to have the same thing happen! Grrr!
Please fix this!!! It's the only thing keeping you from a 5 star rating!!

And for the record, I've already bought the $.99 level!

Okay, an edit/update is required... I just completed the $.99 game, and it did the very same thing. So disappointing. Now I have to delete them both and I'm out the $.99.

Great game

Great logic game, very very addictive a enjoyable to play but please fix a couple of bugs - 1) after completing roughly half the games, my iPad (and iPhone) now freeze each time I finish a game and I have to shut down my device each time. This apples to the free and the "paid for" games. The fact I'm prepared to do this each time shows what a great game this is. 2) after completing 2 of the 3 extra games in the express version, completed games no longer add stars to my score and never get stored as "completed" and so I can never move onto the next set of games.

Utterly Occupying

I love the nature of this game. The rules and the marshaling of options within them. Similar to Minesweeper or Sudoku in the necessarily logical solution using a number of dimensions. My only problem, and it is big enough to lose a star, is that it isn't colorblind friendly. The reds, greens, oranges and yellows really throw me. I think if you made them more intense they would stand out and I'd see the difference in lightness and darkness which is how I usually tell when I can. Once I acquaint myself with a new set of colors in a game or whatever, green is lighter than red and orange is much lighter and yellow lighter still. Purple is lighter than blue. Usuallg but not always. That difference isn't even present here to be learned. But other than that I love it.

Fun & Addictive Logic Puzzle Game

Well thought out game that starts off with easy puzzles and slowly introduces you to increasingly more difficult levels. If you like logic games, this game will challenge you to think abstractly and predict outcomes. The ability to slow down the game and speed up, allows the player time to analyze and rework their plan until succeeding.

The goal of the game is to get the train(s) from point A to point B. In order to accomplish this, you must lay the railroad track in between the two points. The next level of difficulty involves multiple colored trains where each train must go to the color correct station. Eventually you will need to cross tracks to mix colors and even merge trains to make sure the trains arrive at the same time at the correct colored station.

Ultimately is a fun game that makes you think and can be played anytime without having to commit any length of time.

Challenge, education, and entertainment all in one.

TrainyardExpress combines puzzle solving, creativity, color, increasing difficulty, interesting sound visual effects, and ease of use to make one of my all time favorite games. Rockin!
It's easy to try different possibility and outcomes so you can work your way to the final solution without pressure or frustration. Keeps anyone's attention that likes puzzles. The tutorials are easy to follow and give you enough information to combine your lessons with ingenuity for loads of addictive fun.

A fun game of trains, colors, and timing

Simple in principle, anazingly complex in execution as you get further into it, Trainyard Express rewards experimentation as you try to time the trains and direct them to their stops. It's also extremely addictive - I just started playing it about two days ago and I'm thoroughly hooked. Best of all, this version is free - but I'll be giving serious thought to the paid version, because this game is awesome enough for me to want to spend money on it.

Stands above other puzzle games

They really got this one right. Just challenging enough to be fun and interesting without getting frustrating. Some of the puzzles are very challenging but its not like you're just trying to discover some "trick" to solve them- really makes you think. Only complaint: I finished the whole game in a couple of hours & was left wanting more. If there's a pay version with a lot more levels, I will DEFINITELY buy it. Nice work.

Addictive

Long time user, first time reviewer. A friend showed me this game, and so far, I have yet to stop playing. It's quite addicting!

There are, however, a few details that I think should be included. During gameplay, I would like a short description on the side or something to remind me what rules are implemented at the time.

Additionally, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'm a bit dyslexic when it comes to mixing colors. I would like to see, along side of the description I mentioned earlier, to see a color mixing chart, like having 2 colors like "blue" + "yellow" = "green". I always end up intentionally colliding the trains just to see what color they make, then I forget again and have to do it again, and again.

If anything, these could be preferences you can set in a settings or preferences menu.

Overall, this is an extremely addicting game for me :)

Best in Genre

Trainyard is by FAR the best puzzle game I've ever played, and that's really saying something seeing as how the puzzle genre is probably the largest and most cluttered of all gaming genres. It forces you to really think about all the possible routes, tricks, and combinations and gives you an incredible feeling of satisfaction on finding a solution to a particularly difficult puzzle, quite unlike most of the oddly difficult but unsatisfying puzzle games out there (I'm looking at you TikiTotems!).

This is a definite MUST for ANYONE, no matter who you are.

Difficult, yet fun

I usually don't write reviews, but I have been playing this recently and just had to write a review because it earned it. I find this very enjoyable because I like logic and strategy puzzles, and this delivers flawlessly. My best piece of advice for solving the puzzles is trial and error. Try something, change it, try something completely different and so forth. When I get iTunes money I will definitely buy the full version. I tip my hat to the dev. One of the best games I have ever played, hope this helped you decide!

A lot of fun and very addicting!

This game is a lot of fun because it does require one to work out the various puzzles and have to think about the options that will lead to success. It is a game that I like to play for a while, and then come back to it a bit later and look at things freshly again. Sometimes the answers are not so obvious, but after you look at various options you can see how to solve the puzzles. It helps to take the tutorial several times so one can understand exactly how it works.

Excellent logic game!

With just a few simple rules governing the trains' movement and colors, Trainyard is an ingenious collection of puzzles which will tax your brain. A well-written tutorial gets you started and the initial puzzles ease you into the game, where the real challenges await. There's no time limit or need for quick reflexes, it's just you versus the puzzle.

One nice aspect is that you can control the "playback" speed of the trains in the puzzle, so that when things don't work out, you can carefully analyze the board and adjust accordingly.

Lastly, this game has plenty of challenges for free, as opposed to a teaser game with limited functions. It makes you WANT to purchase the paid version voluntarily, it's that good. :-)

Fun and more than one right answer

I like a game that makes you think. Puzzles are always fun. I had to have an iPad just to play this game... No kidding. Played on a friends and loved the game so much I decided to give iPads for Christmas. Playing the game made me fall in love with the iPad as well. I can not say enough good things about them both. So far I have purchased three iPads to give and I will be sure to give the game too. Merry Christmas. PS I do not have an iPad yet, I am sharing with my husband. Update I now play on iPad 2 and this is still the most wonderful game I have ever played.

Made by one guy in his spare time... PLEASE FIX

Very impressive for a single person's work. My dad developed his own app and I know how much time and effort it takes. I just completed the game after downloading it yesterday which is saying something because anyone who's played this game in the last-however-long knows that there's a very irritating glitch where the game freezes every time you complete a level-(please fix!). Filled with complex and engaging puzzles, my boyfriend can't figure out how I do it or how it works at all. Thank you for this game, please fix the glitch.

My new favorite game!

After completing all the available levels of Flow and Flow Bridges on my phone, I was looking for another logic game to challenge me and fill the few minutes I have here and there during the day to play games. I LOVE this game!!! The games are short enough to play while I wait for my teenager to get in the car or my boyfriend to run into the store; yet challenging and so addicting I will play for hours after the kids are in bed! I am hoping the boards get bigger and the puzzles get even more challenging. I will have to invest in an iPad soon so I can play longer! Thank you to the inventors of this game, I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Engineer me - Absolutely riveting!

Enjoying this a lot. Very different, clever, and fun. Makes your brain stretch, if you love trains and track layouts, get this!

Update:
I've now done all the levels so what is next? Buy the full game for more levels and added options. Addictive, I've played into the wee hours of the morning because I think "just this one more..." but I keep going. Excellent puzzles, can't wait for more. Thank you for creating this interesting and challenging game. By the way I don't hand out 5 stars very often so you know I am very pleased by TrainyardExpress. (I am running OS 5.1.1 on an ancient iPad and it works fine, no freezing like others report.)

Unbelievable Fun

This is the best game I've played in a long time. It's well written, no errors I've encountered so far, very well-thought-out, and endlessly entertaining. The object is to get trains from their start to their destination building and endless amount of track and switches to accomplish the goal. No scoring, just get it done! Also, you're not trapped on one level - you can go back and forth between puzzles, and create multiple scenarios and save them to try to solve. It's easy to erase and start all over, or just erase parts of a line. Frustrated? Go back through the tutorial, which is done at the same time you're playing, in other words, the tutorial in integrated into the game. This rocks.

Fantastic

What a clever game. Each puzzle solved brings a big smile to my face. And I especially thank the developer for having a web site where one can find a solution, if needed. I have only had to look once, but I found I had made a wrong assumption of the train priorities. Without being able to find the solution, I would have given up on the game as impossible - and erased it. But now I'm enjoying it even more and telling all my friends about it. I've got both the free app and the 99 cent one as they have unique puzzles. Even more fun! And the developer's website reveals a bit of the personal story of the young man who created TrainyardExpress. He's both a proud new father and a proud Canadian and I salute him and wish him continuing success.

Nice challenge

The game starts off nice and easy, and the tutorial is simple and really does a great job of making understanding the game easy. The game increases the difficulty level slowly but doesn't leave you board. More challenging levels are fun to play and I find the game to be encouraging cause you don't have a limit on time or how much track you can use. I would love to see a real life backgrounds rather than just a black grid, and some more realistic looking trains. Five stars, great game. And it's free!

Features

As the game progresses, you'll have to use basic colour theory to combine trains of different colours, use timing to merge, and use every inch of your brain in your quest to beat the game.

The first few puzzles are almost too easy, but as the difficulty increases you'll be thankful that you were able to practice the fundamentals of drawing track.

What's the difference between Trainyard and Express? In the full game there are more than 100 more puzzles, and you can even MAKE YOUR OWN PUZZLES.

Trainyard Express is a puzzle solving game unlike any that you've ever played.

- If some provinces can't be unlocked even after you've solved all the available puzzles, that's a bug: Go to options, switch to player 2 then back to player 1 to fix it.
