Overhaul was horribly timed and done

TexasLonghorns used to live up to its name of “education” and would show logged in students their class schedule and a map of campus among many other things. These are essential to have quickly on hand when starting a new semester. Smack dab in the middle of that crucial period, the developers of TexasLonghorns completely overhauled it without warning, removing every single ounce of anything relative to “education” and leaving only sports info. The main target of TexasLonghorns were left in the lurch, and while the development team promises to release another app with all the educational items restored, they still have not. In other words, they launched their update hilariously, pathetically early and deserve every 1-Star rating on here. I am writing the review because I came here to redownload for updates on the UT-OU game but I don’t think I can support TexasLonghorns and those decisions with even that brief usage.

This update is the embodiment of disappointment

Is everything in this school have to be about sport? What about the useful map and the scheduling? That’s literally the only redeeming quality of what was already a badly designed app. With this update only thing that we can see is what sport to follow and the news. Who really cares? We lose all the time anyway and barely beat Tulsa. Tulsa!!!! Furthermore, the disappointment lies in whoever approved the idea of changing TexasLonghorns to a sport oriented one. What happened to the other features that’s literally much more important than who we lost to this weekend?? What I owe, UT building maps, class schedules and classrooms. Overall, do not recommend and if you already have TexasLonghorns then deleting it would make no difference. 1/10 for the sleek black design but that’s really about it.

Useless Now

Before the 5.0 update, the student section was incredibly helpful to see your course schedule quickly as well as map to where u needed to go. The best part of TexasLonghorns was probably the campus map, which was incredibly useful. Now though, the only good parts of TexasLonghorns are gone, and it’s essentially only a Texas sports app now. I’m incredibly disappointed as I made great use of TexasLonghorns and now have no reason to keep it on my phone. I hope the developers considered re-implementing some of these old features, otherwise I see no reason for anyone besides ridiculously dedicated and hardcore Texas sports fans to have TexasLonghorns, as it is basically worthless now to any students.

Bring back the old app

TLDR; Bring the old app back!

I really loved TexasLonghorns before I updated it last night. I checked it constantly for events going on on campus, the map feature was extremely helpful, and I loved being able to access my schedule. I frankly do not care about the UT sports teams when I could easily just look up the scores and updates online.

The old app was functional and useful for all students and would really love to see the features come back. I loved how my MyUT account was linked directly with the old update and now it’s basically like I’m logging in through a browser. Thankss

App used to be decent. Update got rid of the only part that was useful.

I used to use TexasLonghorns all the time to check my schedule and to use the map function. Everything changed when the fire nation attacked. They added a whole bunch of new stupid sports stuff but got rid of the only parts students actually used. I don’t care about our crap teams. I just want to be able to easily check where the heck I’m supposed to be going. Great job, glad I’m paying you thousands of dollars so you can waste it on our terrible football team. A+ job kumquats.

Deleted it because it’s not useful for me anymore

I liked how TexasLonghorns was before it updated to this new interface because I was able to see my class schedule, look at my bevo bucks, view the UT map, and so forth. I was checking everything I wanted to look at all on a simple mobile app. However, TexasLonghorns has become more sport focused for fans rather than for those attending the university. Get TexasLonghorns if you want to keep up with news and updates about UT sports. Otherwise, I don’t recommend using it for school.

Loss of Usefulness

With the new update, they completely removed the Campus map, your class schedule and your account balances. I used to use TexasLonghorns to help me find my classes on the first day, but now I can't because it's been removed. If you like football and don't like classes and knowing how much funding you've got- this is TexasLonghorns for you. TexasLonghorns was a solid 4.5 stars in my book before the update. I don't know how someone could've thought this was a good idea, get a better developer team.

Great App!

I’m not a student but love the Horns! I now live in Virginia so TexasLonghorns lets me track, watch, and/or listen to all sporting events, as well as stay up-to-date on latest news. I love how it updates you with what’s coming up and you can also track stats and scores. Nice work all!

Complete overhaul is 100% better!

The new version of the Texas Longhorns app is a complete overhaul from previous versions. Texas’ partnership with Sidearm Sports to make TexasLonghorns better has paid off. The UI is clean plus one of the best features is the live stats for all 20 of Texas’ sports teams. Check this out! #HookEm 🤘🏼

Clean Interface

TexasLonghorns UI is very clean and well-designed. I had no issues with logging in with EID, and map labels are fully functional.

Only gripe is that animations (I.E., switching between panels) could be a bit faster and more responsive. Otherwise I would rate this five stars.

Not helpful anymore

I downloaded TexasLonghorns for the express purpose of being able to navigate around campus. As a graduate student, I’m not the least bit interested in sports, and now this update is 100% focused on the sports aspect of UT. TexasLonghorns is literally pointless to me now. I’m uninstalling TexasLonghorns until they bring back features that make it more useful for people who aren’t obsessed about sports.

Very disappointed

I’m very disappointed with the new update to put it politely. I used TexasLonghorns for my class schedule and other things related to my academics... very rarely did I use it in relation to sports. To remove this key attribute provides me with no use for TexasLonghorns . I’m keeping it in hopes that it’ll be corrected in the coming days or weeks as I thought this was designed for the student and not the fan.

Worse than terrible!!!!!

Supposed to use this for tickets next year and can’t even set up an account and login. I have set it up twice and when I try to log in it says it is incorrect, which it is not.

If this is my only way to use my football tickets, (not that I’m counting on it this year, but still), we are in trouble.

Wish I could do no stars

This new update is BS, I used to use TexasLonghorns a ton to find my classes and look at my schedule, now they change it so it's entirely athletic oriented and so I decided to delete it. Do NOT buy TexasLonghorns if you are a student who just wants a decent map of UT and an easy way to find their class schedule/ bevo bucks. If they change it back I'll definitely download it again.

No more Map!

I used to use TexasLonghorns mainly for the map function listing all the buildings with the 3 letter abbreviations. It was useful, especially when visitors would ask for directions. I could just pull up the map and show them exactly where to go. With this latest update, it seems the campus map is gone and now it’s just a marketing tool for the athletics department and UT merchandise.

You know what the ESPN app is for right?

I get trying to foster school spirit and all, but what is the point on making a Texas Longhorns app that panders only to the people interested in sports (and this coming from a huge fan of football). To complete do away with all the other actual STUDENT functionality of TexasLonghorns is reflective of how much the University cares about the non student-athletes at this school.

Love it

I know some people don’t like TexasLonghorns but I love it! I live in Indiana but an absolute die-hard Longhorns can! I listen to every event on here, follow live stats too! Keep up the great work!

New Update

As a student, the old version was very accessible and easy to use for me. I could track my dining expenses and look at my class schedule. Now, TexasLonghorns only shows sports and doesn’t let you access personal information. It would be nice to be able to access MY stuff as well as sports and campus events. I hate the update

Terrible download

TexasLonghorns provides none of the features useful to students previous iterations did: no maps, no campus news, classes, etc. TexasLonghorns has be redesigned to cater to sports fans solely. Just stick to Google Maps and KUT.

Previous review----
TexasLonghorns does ut justice by providing the basics (maps, university-related news, and historical markers, etc) and providing them well.

Not Intuitive

Last “upgrade” was a step backwards. Not easy to navigate or intuitive. Instead it’s frustrating to even try and use.
