Super useful!!

With a quick glance one can easily tell how much this app is left in a day, great for things like outdoor activities and camping too. I also love the idea of a clock with NO NUMBERS! It’s also interesting to “travel through time”, and instantly see the amount of this app from month to month. Kudos developers! I can’t invite this clock NOT existing now!

Very simple, very nice

Great to see an update after a long time, and super to get a quick fix for the display problem. Now just right. Thank you for bringing it to iOS!

Check year

Love Daylight! However, it’s February and the date still says 2020. I’m hoping the wrong year doesn’t make the moon phases wrong. Thanks!

Nice app. Simple.

I’ve used Daylight for years. I like the pie graph. It’s interesting to watch it change throughout the seasons.

Simple to use app does exactly what you’d want it to do. A keeper!

Nice and Simple

Nice app. Simple to use. Improvement suggestions: Add numbers to indicate hours on the "clock". Have a "Hours/minutes till sunset/sunrise feature.

Best of the free sunrise / sunset apps!

I spent over an hour trying out all the free "time of sunrise / sunset" apps I could find (there were around 10 of them), and this is the one I think is the best, for the following reasons:

1) It acknowledges and provides useful info, in layman's terms, regarding the fact that it gets bright before sunrise, and stays bright after sunset

2) It allows one to see how sunrise & sunset will vary as the calendar varies (the daytime/nighttime "clock" display changes as you change the date)

3) It automatically determines your location, but, according to the support page, allows for manual setting if, for some reason, the automatic method fails (it didn't fail in my case, so I didn't get to try this out)

4) Except for a brief mention in the help section about an upcoming version with an extra feature or two called "this app Plus", there are no ads.

5) The times are accurate

6) There's an easter egg in it having to do with the moon. Visit the developer's support page for info about that. I think he's cool to have this little feature, but not to boast about it in his iTunes writeup.

The only minus is that the graphics are plain, not fancy - but that is not enough of a negative to cause me to subtract rating points.

Five stars and job well done!

Daylight sheds the light

Daylight is perfect for determining what time to meet for pre-dawn activities, or figuring out how much available light is left for surfing, golfing, hiking, etc.

I'd love to see the following improvements:
1. Show the date. More than once, I've turned on Daylight and was misled because it was still showing times for an alternative date that I had previously viewed.
2. Either always boot up to current date, or display non-current date warning.
3. Allow the user to show data for a location other than the current location.
4. Either boot up to current location, or display non-current location warning.
5. Show moon rise and moon set times.

Bug: once my sundial became smaller with the icons and tic marks fuzzy. Then it started migrating up and partly off the screen. Wasn't sure why, but after reinstallation it was back normal.

Hawt

Daylight is simple and beautiful, not overdone or filled with gimmick features. It's also one of the few free apps I have seen that pinpoints your location AND tells you the Latitilude and Longitude to 8 decimal places AND shows you in Maps if you so choose. Amazingly accurate with good cell service. The twilight times are usually dead on, although the sun will obviously appear to set a tad later from a mountain top than in a valley.

Gorgeous and easy to use

My hobbies include photography and running, so I often find myself looking up all three dawn and sunset times. Daylight makes it easy to see, at a glance, when the light will be of different qualities. Perfect for checking the light before getting out of bed and lacing up the sneakers (urban settings and west facing windows make that hard to judge!).

Cleanly functional

Was relieved to see that the new hour, noon and midnight markers fade away with a touch. Kind of wish there was an option to turn off the text labels, (or have them shorten to N and M) as they mar the beauty of the graph somewhat.
----
The 24 hour clock is a good visual representation of the day. Thanks for making this wanted tool. Some subtle polish to the clock like a drop shadow or something could make it even better to look at while considering your plans.

Daylight Meter

My husband loved the Enhanced this app Meter on the I Am Legend web site when the movie came out so I was looking for something similar to that. Bam - I found it here. The only difference is the chart isn't as cool it doesn't have the countdown of how much this app is left, but it's just simple math to figure it out. Civil, nautical, and astronomical options all available. The one-up that Daylight has on the I Am Legend meter is you can change the date, though.

Perfect for bike commuting

A free app that helps keep me alive by showing me when I need to be on the road for my bike ride home. I used to have to print out the celestial tables--this is so much better.

5 stars for not adding unecessary junk to an app that answers the important questions, "when will the sun set and when will it get dark?" Keep it elegant.

Missing one thing

Daylight does what it says and does it well. I has one major problem. It does not show on the main screen the date it has calculated the times for. When you open Daylight the times it displays are for the last date you selected, not the current date like you would expect. Add the date to the screen and default to the current date and this is a five star app.

Great app

Don't worry about those that say "it's plain/boring". It's perfect and does just what it says it would.

I would love to have the ability to see a "combination" view as a 4th view, where it would show all of the twilight versions overlayed (such as with different colored slivers) so we could see the precession through these twilights.

Exactly what I wanted

Daylight presents daytime/nighttime hours in a clear, meaningful, and pleasing way. It's a very simple app that does just one job very well. In the past I have found all-in-one weather or astronomical programs that do show you the same information non-graphically, as a list of numbers. I much prefer this presentation.

Great free app

I really like this application. It immediately detected my location and it has a very clear and intuitive interface. One suggestion I would make would be to add hour numerals on the inside of the circle (I guess it would need to be a 24 hour clock, not 12) just for kicks. Thanks.

So close

I really liked Daylight and thought all my problems were solved when I read there was a "better user experience when location services are disabled". I took that to mean I could use the map app to choose a location at which to determine sun rise/set. But, I could never get it to work. Perhaps user error? If so, my rating goes up, if not, my rating goes down.

Icing on the cake would be moon rise/set times.

great app, easy to use

Daylight does exactly what it says it will, gives you the time of first and last light, and also sunset and sunrise, for any day and latitude. Easy to use. Great for photographers who want the ‘blue period’ light, and also for folks who want to do things out of doors. Or even if you just want to set the timer for your walkway and porch lights.

simple, fast, beautiful, free

I love this little app. It loads quickly, it does exactly what it's supposed to, and it has a beautiful, uncomplicated interface.

Where is this app Plus, though? I'd pay you for more! Not sure what else I'd want, but you deserve at least 99¢ for this! Let me give you money. :D
