Do not waste your money

2022-05-22

After about 30 hours of my using (and paying for) Line2 , it logged me off, tried to call customer service to ask wha happened they mentioned their server detected that I’m “ Fraud “ and I’m asking people for information, I explained in dispatcher in locksmith company and just text technicians information and which address to go and what kind of job they will do , or text my customers asking them for pictures for locks and safes needed to be drilled and so on , I asked customer service not to depend on computer detection and they can go and check the messages I’m sending, they basically careless unhelpful bunch of thief’s, I had to go through apple to file a complain and get refund , didn’t have a chance to test service will but all what I can say that I do my job with other applications fine without any body to get his nose in my business and and don’t want even spend a minute before insulting me and claiming that I’m “ Fraud “

Avoid at all costs, terrible customer service

2022-06-23

this app, if you're reading this, you can thank your employee "Brian C" for causing you to lose a customer today. I would give this app negative stars if I could. I was a loyal customer for years, but I am now leaving this disrespectful company and will instead use Skype. The customer service from this app is the most wildly unprofessional I have ever seen. I spent over 9 hours trying to get in contact with this app over a billing issue that I wanted to quickly resolve so that I could pay this app and resume using their service. After many calls and messages, I reached a polite man on the phone who tried his best to help me but couldn't. My many emails went unanswered, I often encountered bots who ignored me on the online chat system, and finally, "Brian C" said he would ban me from the online messaging system after I told him that the company was acting unprofessionally and that I would need to delete my account if they couldn't resolve the billing issue. My interaction with Brian was the final straw after many negative experiences over the years with this horrible company (and during the holiday season in a pandemic, how tactless). Congratulations, Brian, you have worsened your company's reputation.

Awful Customer Service and Terrible Call Quality

2022-07-24

The call quality is like making an international call 30 years ago or like playing the game telephone—garbled and unintelligible. The notifications you receive for calls are also quite inconsistent. Very often, important calls would simply not ring on my iPhone and navigating their convoluted system settings to fix the problem didn’t help. Finally, I decided to port out my this app number to a cellular carrier. I continue to encounter problems with the port request from this app–everything from an invalid PIN (which this app provides, btw) to an invalid address (even though it’s definitely my address). I have been calling this app’s customer service number (on hold for 45 mins before asking me to leave a message, and they never call back) and emailing them (4 messages/tickets started but no reply) but it’s like they know I want to leave their service and refuse to help. This whole company is a nightmare to deal with. If you port your number to them, be prepared to walk away and lose your number, because that’s the point I am fast approaching.

Over a Decade of Declining Service.

2022-08-25

For the past year there are times where Line2 will just log out entirely. Then it refuses to recognise the credentials to login. This was remedied by a password change before, because it was at least possible to login to the website. Not anymore. It’s now only possible to login to a dashboard link that allows no changes and is currently only useful as a way to view received texts. Being this has been used as a primary phone number for over a decade, only because the alternatives are even worse, it’s difficult to leave. After messaging support and receiving no assistance at all, that even more painful option of leaving Line2 for good seems even more likely than ever. Why pay for a service that doesn’t work and doesn’t work well when it does and then provides no support to make it work?

Typically after a certain amount of time a service that has somehow managed to exist should be expected to improve. In this case it’s obvious that quite the obvious is true.

No Thank You this app.

Glitchy

2022-09-26

Phone does not always ring. I get an email that alerts me to voicemail, or else I would never know I got a call. Forwarding to Line2 is unreliable. No feature to change ringtones.

Forgive me if I don’t contact Customer Support, because when I did it the first time because I could not forward my work phone to my Line 2 number, I was told to contact my cell phone provider. You assured me the problem was with them. Then, when that turned out to be untrue, you told me my free trial period was over, when in fact I had been paying for Line2 for 4 months. What the problem turned out to be was Apple billed me a day late and so you simply stopped serving me. So, I don’t really have a lot of faith in your abilities.

Update: I contacted customer support because I am unable to make calls, Line2 freezes up, and when a call finally does go through, nobody can hear me. The response was via auto responder to look up the solution myself, which I have already done to no avail.

Never had such bad customer service

2022-10-27

The problem first came up when I couldn’t place any outgoing calls from Line2 . Like many people, I was using Line2 for business purposes and it was critical for me to be placing calls with my this app number instead of my personal number. I tried rebooting Line2 , uninstalling it and then reinstalling it, turning my phone on/off. Nothing helped.

I called customer support and couldn’t get through to a person. I then created a support ticket and wrote that my issue was urgent (I was missing out on making business calls that day). I also tried engaging with the chat feature on their website, hoping that I could somehow speak to a human to resolve my urgent issue. However, the sales chat person said my only option was to submit a support ticket. Thanks for nothing.

Two whole days go by. I hear from no one. No emails, no calls. No help or resolution.

6 days later (8 days after my initial support request) I finally received an email with instructions to resolve my issue. I honestly don’t even know if those steps worked because by that time I had cancelled my this app subscription.

I was reminded to write this review because I received an email from their support team today saying that they were happy to report that “this issue has been resolved.” This email came 2.5 MONTHS later. Wow. Glad I dropped them when I did.

Necessary for my business, but not great.

2022-11-28

Having two lines in my phone with two different area codes is critical to my business. I travel abroad a lot and having the ability to make WiFi calls is also vital. Unfortunately I wish I had a better option than Line 2, as the call quality is often quite poor and the whole app is quite glitchy. I can use WhatsApp for a perfectly clear call and then use Line 2 immediately after and the call sound is worse and has moments that are distorted and often with an apparent delay. Line2 freezes a lot with a few weird repeating issues, one of which is that a phone call will often not hang up until the phone is turned off and back on again. Also, I’m not sure why, but I seem to get more spam calls on my Line 2 number than on my primary line. I never read the fine print when I agreed to the terms, but I am assuming that Line 2 is selling their customer numbers. I do need that second number and the ability to make WiFi calls, but I’ll tell you, I use Line 2 as a last resort and as little as possible. It is reliable and good for texts though.

Only Line2 to Line for 10$, Spam stay away

2022-12-29

Well, I am a new customer, I might change my review, but so far, I haven’t seen anything positive from this app, since I downloaded it, it started to freeze up, it is slow, I bought the Standard plan for unlimited SMS and unlimited Calls, but it is not letting me text people unless they are Line 2 customer, that does not make sense- we are talking about 13,20$ charge/mo and what is Business App not kids kind of thing.
I still can make call, quality is So so.
I tried to call like 10x they just don’t want to pick up the phone, well you still can send Email... wait till they respond. What is frustrating is that when you buy the plan they mention unlimited sms and call to US/ Canada from anywhere and when you use it. Not even 1 sms.
Still waiting for a solution otherwise I am gonna cancel the whole thing and report to App Store. 3 days Trial( they charge you at the first min you pick your plan). 30 days money back well I will see if that is True... but hopefully they will fix the issue.

Great for calls & basic texts.

2023-01-30

I got Line2 so I could get a local number while keeping the number I've had for over 10 years. I'm in real estate now & a local number is important. However, because I'm in real estate, I often need to share contacts, send/receive photos, videos, they finally figured out how to send photos, but videos still don’t work, and even if I’m on my iPhone, if someone shares a contact w/ me, it won’t come through & open. Additionally, why isn’t there an Apple Watch app? For some reason I only get the alerts & call throughs on my watch about 1 out of every 10 times, so it’s really frustrating. Lately it’s been taking forever to connect, even on WiFi. And if the call isn’t picked up on either end, it hasn’t been showing up on recent history. Super frustrating.

I had previously given this 4 stars, but I’ve got to drop it as it seems to be getting worse, not better.

Good business tool in general.

2023-03-03

I’ll give this one 4 stars as I’ve been using it for years now. The good points about it are that it interfaces well with the contacts app already on your phone. Works very well as a separate line and has its own texting function.
It used to have a feature where my wife was able to get and access my VM from her phone. Then she could notify me of who to respond to first. Which allowed me to ignore the phone and just keep working. I only had to respond to her calls. They took that feature away. Please bring it back. I found it very useful in a micro business situation.
Also the latest update seems to be dropping an inordinate amount of calls. I think you guys are trying to do too many updates. Once it’s working leave it alone.

Update: I’m currently running iOS 14. The current version of this app doesn’t play nice with it. I can no longer attach a photo to any texts. You can select a photo but Line2 always fails to process it. Then Line2 locks up most of the time. I wrote to customer service and pointed out the issue. Their response was they needed more information. ??? Don’t they have iPhones with pics? Not being able to attach pictures to client’s texts is a serious serious issue that renders Line2 a 2 star app. FIX IT!!!

Great service until you try to cancel

2023-04-01

Had Line2 for many years and it works well. Now I no longer need a second line and am learning that they make it very difficult to cancel service.

You can’t do it via Line2 . You can’t do it online. The help page directs you to a url that doesn’t work. I tried chatting with customer service but that’s only for sales and they can’t help. The only option is to call. Tried that and was cut off twice. Otherwise, very long wait times. Recorded message suggested opening a ticket via the help tab. I’ve done that so let’s see if they respond, how long it will take and if they can help.

It should never be this hard to cancel a service one no longer needs especially after being a loyal customer for many years.

Great service, but sluggish

2023-05-03

The this app app has been great for business related calls. We love the call forwarding so we can work on the go. However, Line2 is very sluggish. Logging in is slow at times, and swapping between the call log and messages takes a while to load too. The call quality is a little poor through Line2 , but when the calls are forwarded the call quality is much better. This means we try to stay logged out, and only log in to check our text messages. The text messaging thru the computer is non-existant. We can see the messages if we download via csv file, but it would be great if we could respond to messages through the website. Also, I would like to see an update where we get notifications via email for new text messages. Thank you!

Don’t expect to use with Apple Watch

2023-06-03

I just received an Apple Watch for Christmas and cannot for the life of me get the Line 2 app to install on my watch. Despite there being a troubleshooting page that says the watch app should automatically install, when I contacted support, the email I received in response basically said that there is no support for the Apple Watch, nor do they intend to support it anytime in the near future—meaning that if you’re like me and can’t get it to load on your watch, you’re out of luck. This makes my Apple Watch less useful to me than my Fitbit in this regard, because this app notifications at least buzzed on my Fitbit. One would think that with the move towards smart tech wearables, a company that wants to cater to businesses as a telephone line replacement would offer some sort of support in this regard.

Overall, Line2 works well enough for my purposes because I send all calls to voicemail and only text, but if having a reliable phone line is super important to your business, just get a real line. When I have turned on calls in the past, a percentage wouldn’t make it through.

Glitchy but great when it works

2023-07-05

Line2 can be really helpful when it works. I often have trouble with phone calls going through when initially dialing out. Calls fail at least a few times a week. People on the other end often mention bad sound quality... crackling sound on voicemails and on phone calls.

Also it tries to connect with my car’s Bluetooth and turns off any radio or other source already being played through the system in operation whenever I get in the car and start going (specifically when I’m not using the phone). It will show on my dashboard of the car that a phone call is connected (to my own cell phone).

Delayed response when hitting buttons in Line2 /phone to start or end a call. Sometimes I hit the button to end a call and it doesn’t show ended so I hit it again and then next thing you know I am dialing the person back because it hit it twice.

Been using for more than a year

2023-08-05

I’ve using the service for more than a year and I am disappointed. Although the functions are there, the shortcomings are numerous. For example, messaging does not allow videos or .vcards to come through. In addition, the phone service is very spotty, especially when you compare to your normal cellular service, even though it is supposed to be the same thing. The quality just isn’t what it should be. Last, the service will identify that the strength isn’t very good and will ask you if you want to switch signals in the middle of a call and if you elect to do it, it will hang up your call. Bottom line, this just isn’t seamless.

There seem to be new bugs when releases come out. For example, you can no longer telephone numbers into the dialing screen, which is certainly annoying when you don’t want to dial with your main line from an email or other link.

Pretty good for small business

2023-09-06

It has been reliable and consistent for small business use with occasional phone needs. We get more junk calls than good ones so wish there was a way to filter those out. The voice message to text in an email is our favorite feature. The voice mail in general works well. For some reason, most phone calls are first dropped and then we have to try again. There is a slight delay so we often talk over people. Highest on our wish list would be the ability to create a list of contacts just for line 2. We’d like to at least be able to add a name to a recent phone number. We use Line 2 on our personal phone too which is great for receiving and making calls - keeps them separate from our personal number, but dislike the fact that it wants to access our personal contacts. Overall good value for our needs.

Currently Experiencing Issues Since Newest Update

2023-10-08

I have been using Line2 for several years now and over the span of those years I have occasionally had some minor issues with Line2. However, the most recent update is giving me more issues than normal and is causing me to lose in coming calls.

Example, when I go to place a call now there is a delay before the call is initiated, making you think it did not take, so you click it again, and again, then all of a sudden it pops up with all these calls attempting to be in queue. At that point you attempt to cancel them or hang up the calls, but they won’t close. 2nd example, more calls are being dropped than usual, there are a few more issues but i have only addressed the major problem ones, at least during my use of new update.

The other thing that lags is the new missed call pop up that appears if you miss a call. Calls that come in ring once then drop off, no warning. And no, my call session is not set to 1 ring, it is at least 5 before it should be answered.

Although I have these issues currently, I still overall like Line2, maybe because it has been very good up until now.

Honest Opinion

2023-11-08

Overall it’s one of my favorite apps to use as a second line but my only complaint is that it’s really slow when it comes to opening text messages and sending them. I don’t know if it’s Line2 on my processor but I have an iPhone 7 Plus so Aside from sending text messages on Line2 my phone is lightning fast still to date. I still recommend Line2 if it’s just for casual use. It beats buying a second phone. Butted if you Frequently text multiple people simultaneously during ur day-to-day than Line2 won’t keep up with you. Oh and if your phone is on “LOW POWER MODE” you won’t receive ANY notifications if Line2 isn’t open. (I missed some really important messages that were time sensitive that way) 🤦‍♀️

Totally awesome for expats

2023-12-10

Line2 is totally awesome for expats. I tried other apps but they did t allow a foreign cell phone to be the primary number. this app does and it works flawlessly for me. I even ported a Skype phone number and now I can receive texts from the US for two-factor authentication. The call screening feature has cut back on marketing calls and is worth the price of admission alone. My US number is my business number and I will be using the virtual switchboard feature soon. I am very happy and highly recommend Line2.

UPDATE: My this app number works with WhatsApp for Business for iOS. So now I have two mobile numbers each with their own WhatsApp account... on ONE device. Works perfectly!

I’ve been looking for this solution for a while

2024-01-10

This is a fantastic way to combine two phone lines on one phone! I’ve been using my corporate phone for five years now and didn’t want to lose my personal phone number. So I was paying a monthly service fee to Verizon to simply forward all of my calls. From time to time I would price other services but the savings didn’t seem worth the hassle of switching over. One day I searched online to see if anyone else had similar problems and came across the this app website. At first I thought it was too good to be true so I did my research, read reviews, looked them up on BBB, etc. it was exactly what I was looking floor! It was very easy to enroll and port my number over to them Line2 is user-friendly and does everything I would want to do. The only thing I would change is that when a call comes in from my personal line, the caller ID doesn’t work. It just says that the call is coming from me. But that’s a relatively insignificant thing against everything else it does. I love this service and recommend it to everyone who has to carry two phones!!

It does work

2024-12-16

I’ve been with Line about 1 1/2 years now. I do get all my calls ( and I do get a lot of calls ) just when I’m on a call and someone else calls in that call will go to voice mail. I have better luck with it using the iMac app than I do the iPhone app. Using the iPhone app I have better luck with phone calls using the Data/ Voice switch and going to Cellular Voice. It would be nice that a particular phone could be the phone that a call would go to it first. Such as a tree and if there were 2 or 3 phones signed in you could designate where the call would go to first. When texting would be nice to be able to add more than 1 photo at a time. Also when you are in the calls section it always defaults to voice mail would be nice to have a choice either recents or voice mail. All in all I am really happy with the service. Yes I have had a few technical issues ( who doesn’t? ) . For what you get and what it cost I don’t plan on going to anybody else .

It’s a good app, but room for improvement

2024-12-16

I’ve been using this app for the last few years to keep my business line separate from my personal. And I love that Line2 does that for me. There are a couple of drawbacks however that make it hard for professional use. I really wish their call audio was better, it sounds really low quality and (metallic?)
As a radio engineer I know the sound of a cheap pots DAC all too well!
Also here on Line2 Store because I’m reinstalling as it was crashing sometimes when making a call or when a call ended.

I have not had any spam calls on this number whatsoever, And I’m sooo happy about that. Thank you for not selling these numbers, huge plus for me. I do wish there was a way to silence and calls txts from some numbers however.

All These little things are important when targeting a business audience as it reflects professionally.

So There are a few things I really wish were better, but in the end it does what it’s supposed to. I hope to see Line2 continue to evolve.
