Cocktails - The Original Reviews

Reading all the reviews - everyone is asking where the English version is, well if some of you took the effort to click on the developer link you will see that English and French are coming to version 2.0 of Cocktails. The current version as I write this is 1.1. Version 2.0 will contain cool features like your own virtual bar. What is this virtual bar? Well you tell it what ingredients you have and then it shows you all the this app that can be made from those ingredients - pretty neat! Also the best part - not only will v2.0 have English but it will also contain over 2000+ receipes and it will STILL be free. I hope you all come back and rate this 5 stars once version 2.0 is out! If you paid for any other cocktail application - ask for your money back!

English translations are poor and the we do not mix this app to the .7 ounce measure. Please make them 1/2 ounce or ounce.. etc. Here is an example of a classic cocktail:

Manhattan:

1.4 oz (4cl) Canadian Whiskey
1 dash Angostura bitters
0,7 oz (2cl) Rosso Vermouth

For this appetizer, probably the most famous one, all the ingredients in Mixglas stirred with a lot of ice. Then in a well chilled cocktail bowl and strain the cocktail with cherry garnish.

The measurements and directions for more complicated this app get very confusing with the English measurements and crude conversion to ounces.

The biggest drawback is the need to connect to a database. This makes it next to useless on my iTouch-- I need reference databanks that I can use without an internet connection. I can read German, but it would be nice to have other major languages (French, English, Spanish, etc.).

Otherwise, it is a very comprehensive reference, and I love the photo thumbnails next to the drink names in the Top 10. Bravo!

Very nicely designed app, even though I've had to go through a German-English dictionary to understand the recipes! :p Hopefully an update will add English to the mix, but for now I guess I'll have to learn bits and pieces of another language...how terrible :) Keep up the great work!!

In the future, you should make a feature that would allow you to list the alcohols that you have, and the mixers that you have, and then tell you what drinks you can make with them. Maybe some sort of checklist for both liquors and mixers would work.

This is such a great app! I love the icon, the pictures, and the information. I give you 5 stars for that. However, I wish I could read it! haha. Please, make an English version. Cocktails is awesome, and I'd love to be able to use it. Thank you! :]

Cocktails is perfect except it is not in English. Please create an english version and I like the fact that it has a picture of the drink for garnish. I had no idea it was not in English when I downloaded it. Maybe the name should be in German until the English version is available.

All the measurements are in METRIC which makes sense for Germans but not Americans. Trying to have us covert centiliters to ounces would be daunting for us (especially whilst drinking!), and, I dare say, for the author of this great-looking app. But let's hope for an English version which is non-metric soon!

4 stars until the English is fixed, then I'll give it 5 stars. The application is good just needs minor fixes. I would like to see more pictures for the drinks and the description and decoration list to be in English as I have already mentioned.

I can't read German but Cocktails is cool. I'm giving it 5 stars because the developer deserves it and also to counter the low ratings given by those who are far too ignorant to appreciate someone's hard work.

Only good for the names of drinks. But you won't know what's in it. I downloaded Cocktails , tapped on a drink for more info, and got sent to my own itouch menu. It may be because there are Hella drinks on the list but how am I ever going to order something new or make a drink of my own? Might as well just look online.

... Downloaded thinking it is a reference work. It appears to connect to 3G network in order to load pages.
It is not clear to me why, and in what way, this an "application".
In my location the pages load so slowly that I generally quit the application before
it has time to finish. Plus, my copy does not have colorful icons.

this is a great free application, except for it not being in english (as EVERYONE has said). If it did have english, it would easily be one of the top downloaded applications, and most likely the most downloaded bartending app.

....which shows pics of how it should turn out along with the recipes.
Can someone who knows German translate it into english and send the files over to the developers so the rest of us can all benefit as well.

The pictures do not show in the list view as shown and the search is limited to alcohol content. It would be nice if categories ( ie 'oldies' ) could be searched afterall the developer went to the trouble of defining each drink in a catagory on the description. Otherwise a fun program to have, I also enjoy reading drink recipes, they are so creative.

English translation is poor at best. More Info is still not in English. Most drinks are mixed in something other the n ounces?!?! Cocktails does not do every thing it states it does. It says you can search, but there is no search function etc... By now it is worth spending a few dollars and get one of the other Cocktail apps....

Yet another worthless app that needs to connect to the internet to work. Can only lookup drink names that you know. Cannot take a type of alcohol and see what drinks can be made with it. Even for a free app....lame.

I agree with everyone else, this is an amazing app and I wish it was in english so I could actually understand it :)
