Echofon for Twitter Reviews

I love Echofon. The interface is clean, there are no distracting recommended trends, you can't see tweet numbers right off the bat and the funky thread loading keeps me from "reading the comments" for half an hour.
BUT!
There's a lag with the Message system that created a lot of inconvenience when I tried to talk to my buddy. I've seen a message or two never even load when switching from Twitter to Echofon and comparing. Also, it would be nice to sort tweets on someone's profile, similar to what twitter does with "Tweets & Replies" or "Media", because it is kind of a drag scrolling through ALL tweets by default.
Those two complaints being addressed would make my ideal twitter app.
You don't get notification for Likes (can be pro or con depending who you are), photos are never cropped, and there's no sponsored tweets. These are all good for me. So overall? Still a good choice.

this app has been my Twitter app of choice ever since it used to be called “TwitterFon” (so roughly 10 years!). I love it because I see tweets in chronological order, no sponsored tweets, no seeing other people’s “likes,” and accurate trending topics. But something’s happened in the past few days and it seems like the developers have gone MIA. Will the bugs ever be fixed??? I’d hate to see such a great and reliable app go down the drain.

UPDATE 8/31: It looks like the developers have fixed the trending issue, so I’m giving Echofon 5 stars!

This is a pretty good app with some useful features, which is why I still use it. However, it's had the same pending update for over a week now, and it keeps failing, and it's driving me nuts to not be able to get rid of the red dot. Also, not sure why I get so many ads in Spanish since I only write in English and follow accounts in English or German.

UPDATE: I contacted support after they asked me to. No response and the issue is still not fixed. I've been staring at a red dot since October 30 for an update that fails every time. I like this app but this is ridiculous and I'm ready to get rid of it if this isn't dealt with. Also, "bugfixes" is not a word. Apparently they can't even spell it, much less accomplish it.

It needs a redesign. The look of Echofon is stale and doesn’t exude the fun that is Twitter! My videos for some reason also aren’t playing in my timeline (even when I click play). Other apps allow for way more customization at no cost (changing fonts, colorways, app icons). I’m an avid Echo user and will continue to be because I love the actual structure of the layout (unless something else catches my attention) but again it looks fairly old and stale. I hope this is something being worked on.

This is a great app that I’ve been using happily for literally more than 10 years. I have one suggestion that would make my life a lot easier. Can you please make dark mode mimic iOS settings? In other words, switch on automatically based on my settings (light during day dark at night). Currently I’m having to manually switch from blue to black within Echofon . Is this coming?

Echofon used to be great but lately it’s developed issues and the support team rarely bother to reply anymore. For unknown reasons it has become impossible to paste text when composing a tweet. Accounts are frequently logged out and mysteriously forgotten by Echofon making it necessary to go through the whole process of adding accounts, logging in and granting access over and over. Notifications are slow or missing, and not just because of the loss of push notifications. I’ll rate it higher once I see these recurring issues addressed.

Since I updated Echofon , I can no longer watch the videos and go to different sections of the vids. Also, the video are embedded only in the tweet half screen and cannot be put to full screen. This now is making my experience unliked and I am considering finding another app to use after 10years of being completely satisfied with you guys. Fix it, or let me know other options I can potentially do to help make my experience what it once was, amazing...

Recently I have been having issues with Echofon. I was working fine earlier and now when I open Echofon it says that I need to reauthorize with twitter in order to access my account. How and where do I do that at?

Love the simplicity of Echofon. Much cleaner than the original. My issue with this app is the trending topics haven’t updated for 2 weeks now and it’s kind of frustrating (also the reason i got rid of TweetCaster once i started experiencing this issue). I’ve even pushed the refresh buttons several times and nothing. Other than that, it’s a great app. I only use the original twitter app to see my tweet activity (new followers, retweets, favorited tweets, etc)

Why can’t you turn off the video scrolling? Its data rich and annoying!

Thankfully the video plays while scrolling have stopped. Now using a new iPhone SE. App is very fast to load now. Just one issue - if you touch the screen for more than about half a second it scrolls back on time by a long way. Can’t see how to stop that? Help

**UPDATE: sadly, these problems have actually gotten worse. Cut and paste responses to reviews here seem to be the only thing happening. The lack of responsiveness and seeming disinterest in the crippled functionality and user experience of a once solid app is a bummer. Rating changed to one star and app deleted.**

Have happily used this app for years but the last several weeks have been frustrating to the point where I will soon delete it if changes don’t occur. Echofon crashes with regularity and loses my place while scrolling - frustrating and non-functional.

I have been using this app for about 10 years now, originally on the Blackberry & then on iPhone. I always loved that it allowed me to “mute” people instead of unfollowing them, but for probably the last 2 years I almost never receive push notifications & the only way I know I am DM’d or mentioned is because I have the Twitter text notifications on for DM’s & mentions. Why has this happened to Echofon? Mine is always updated, so what gives? I have deleted & reinstalled & still no push notifications. What a disappointment.

I’ve used Echofon for Twitter for years because it was the best but as of this week since the last iPhone update, the little popup ads that show up at the bottom have been playing and the sound now comes thru my phone. Doesn’t matter if I “x” out there pop up add it still plays like a video thru my phone. I’ve deleted Echofon to see if that help to reinstall. Might be time to look for new Twitter app.

Been using Echofon for years, and I like the interface, how it shows quotes and pictures. But reading threads from non-followers is a nightmare. Other apps, you can tap anywhere in a thread and see the whole thing. Not here. Unless there’s some secret I’ve not discovered, it means digging through those timelines for the threaded tweets! Annoying. Also it doesn’t show a bunch of follower retweets. I don’t know what that’s about. 3 stars for decent functionality.

I love the way Echofon is so intuitive and easy to use but it it hasn’t been the same for a while now. Since the last update it seems to crash more often than usual and for a while now, when ads pop up the turn off any music or podcasts that are playing. Still better than any other twitter app I’ve used but still super annoying.

since two updates ago, there’s a weird/long lag in loading my timeline. i’ve been using Echofon for years and it’s never done this before. something changed recently and it’s a bit annoying. i want to support and use the paid version, but i don’t want things to get even more annoying with instability. hopefully you can revert or fix whatever is making this issue happen. i was going through other comments/reviews and the general consensus is blaming data. you can’t just blame my data - i’ve had no issues and the same types of content/people in my timeline until *two updates ago*.

Echofon had been working great. Lately the sound does not work when when I click on a video. If it takes me to You Tube it works fine. Also, trying to DM someone even this app I get an error ‘cannot find specified user ‘

On the 8th I sent email to app support no response. Sent another today. No response.

Sent more updates and request for help but no response. I moved to Twitterrific and couldn’t be happier.

Great app except you still haven't fixed the problem I've been annoyed with forever. Every other Twitter app I use doesn't include the user names in the reply. Echofon does so sometimes it leaves me with no characters left to type a reply! Echofon really would be five stars if that were fixed but not being able to reply is a big problem. For instance if you're replying to four people or something you could be left with three characters. How are you supposed to type anything?

Used this app for years. Finally got tired of my podcasts and audio from other apps constantly being stopped when banner ads appear at the bottom of this app. Went back to the inferior official twitter app.
Almost a year later and I’ve just tried this app again. SAME PROBLEM, and I encountered it within minutes of starting Echofon .
Fix your LONGTIME issues, this app.
I’ll try using this app again next year. I doubt it’ll be fixed.

I love Echofon. I've used it probably 5 plus years now. However this latest update has broken it to the point where if it's not fixed I'll have to find a new app. When an ad loads at the bottom of the screen instead of just being there it starts an endless loop of loaded the Apple App Store. When you hit back at the top to return to this app the next ad sends you straight back to Echofon Store. This continues anywhere from 5 times to an endless cycle. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
