I gave them a one star review based on their merit, because I am not a shill, which is the only explanation I can come up with for the five star reviews. They “reached out” to me, which only apparently had the effect of allowing them to delete my review. I tried to use one of their chargers using this “new“ app. The charger would not activate. I called them, and they were no help. I was in a small town in the hinterland with few options for charging electric vehicles. These people do not merit your trust.
The forgot password flow is broken and the last update logged me out which is super annoying. Also very annoying users had to download a new app in the first place that offers zero net new functionality.
I was able to get maybe 12% of charge over the course of 1 + hours and nearly 7 attempts to get the charge to work. When it did work, it would abruptly end session without reason.
I called for support 3 times. They couldn’t help me. Now my credit card has a handful of $50 “temporary holds”. My gut tells me to monitor these amounts like a hawk and make sure it is returned to me… it feels very sketchy that they would make a charge for each attempt without successfully connecting and actually charging my car…
Had high hopes since the bar is set so low
All says tesla chargers are available at location but they're not. And then, they go so far as to identify each charger prominently by station ID Number on EVCS , yet don't label the charging station with the station ID for the person trying to charge. That's just flat out stupid. But they're in good company, having a commitment to bad UI/UX seems to be a requirement for these charger apps to get funding. I really wanted to use this service since its close to work but unfortunately it's just another crappy set of charging stations that ll lie mostly unused because the supporting all doesn't work very well for the end user.
So none of their chargers seem to work on non Tesla vehicles. Each time you attempt to charge, they put a $50 automatic hold on your account. I tried 2 separate chargers on Saturday. I was not able to charge my vehicle either time. They did not remove the $100 charge by end of day. So I called, they informed me that the money should automatically be released which I assured them it was not. I realize we just had Memorial Day and called today, Tuesday, I was told again it should have been released by this morning. I was then shamed for not having an account but pay as I go with my debit card. I was informed there was nothing they could do to release the two $50 holds on my bank account and I would have to call my bank. So not only was I not able to charge my vehicle at their location, but they refuse to release my money and my bank Chase has been even mode yes led by claiming they cannot do anything it has to be this dog and pony show.
When you want to cancel your account, they make it difficult by not having an account deletion option within EVCS . Literally every app I use has this feature. Please update EVCS .
I had to plug my car 7 times one day every time EVCS holds 30 dollars from your account
I called customer service they said I need a subscription in order to see if they can help me
Every time I plug my car the charger shuts down and I had to move to at least 2 different locations to see if the other charger works
The new app is slow and only works about half the time. It is clunky and erratic in its function at best. Stations were missing, and while they added my local one which helped, there are probably still some missing. EVCS is still excruciatingly painful to use.
Traveled to a site that EVCS said was active and available in Elk Grove needing to charge. They were all taped off. I would not trust EVCS or ev charging company and definitely do not subscribe as the chargers they show on EVCS do not exist. Zero customer service. We barely made it to another charging site. Going to use my gas cars for my trips
Pulled up to a charger only to find EVCS I have installed has been replaced by this one. Ok, no problem, download the new app and try to log in—EVCS repeatedly throws an error with zero description/explanation of what the actual issue is. Ok fine create a new account — throws another error. Force quit EVCS and try again—same thing. Ok let’s try to create a new account on the this app website instead of EVCS — I get farther but still fails because the drop-down list for the model of my car repeatedly won’t load. Drive to Electrify America and it’s smooth sailing. Sad because this app used to be more reliable than EA.
I tried to access this network, and it took several minutes of futzing with the machine in the rain and calling customer service to realize that I *had* to download EVCS and try a free trial to the service. Once I’d done that, EVCS THEN told me that the charger I was standing in front of was not working. I needed a charge, so I signed up for the free trial anyway, and used the (incredibly) slow charge.
I’m now on minute fifteen of the most annoying hold music on earth to figure out why my credit card has a fifty dollar hold on it for a a free trial.
Emphatically do not recommend.
Only half or less than half their chargers work. You start charging and the shut down after a few seconds or minutes. Some don’t start charging at all. Wasting time, energy, and money trying to drive to different stations only to find they don’t work. I go back days or weeks later and the same chargers still don’t work even after having called in and reported the non working chargers. I pay $99/month for what? This is unacceptable and this app doesn’t care to fix their problems. I also go to charge at certain “100 kw” chargers and can only reach 41-43kw/h charge speeds. Terrible.
EVCS has lots of bugs. One big bug is that on smaller phones, Register and Forgot Password links overlap, and thus you cannot reset your password. In order to reset your password, you either have to borrow a friend’s larger phone or call support and have them send you the reset link via email. They refuse to fix EVCS . They just don’t care. Second big bug is app randomly logs you out when using EVCS , and you cannot log in again, giving you the invalid credentials error. Only solution is to reset password, which can only be done in EVCS . Why you can’t do it online on a PC or a mobile browser is beyond me. They just don’t care.
As for charging, in Los Angeles they have the best monthly unlimited plans, but… chargers are all 50 kW max,so expect to charge in 60 to 80 minutes. Chargers are also offline often. Chargers also in extremely bad neighborhoods like Wilmington and South Central. There is a huge gap between South Cental and Anaheim where there are no chargers. So few chargers. I suffer because working rideshare I need to save every penny. Only use this charging network if you are desperate.
No issues with the service and the stations themselves are the best out there. Unfortunately, the new app (iPhone 15+) crashes when trying to scan the QR code for a station. Had to turn off permissions to access my camera entirely since the input to enter the station ID manually is on the same screen as the camera/QR code viewfinder.
These guys are smart and way ahead of the game this app offers subscription based charging throughout their network. They are the only ones smart enough to do this right now. This means you could pick one of their 4 plans, things like unlimited charging. Nobody else offers this I really hope that they continue to grow and expand into other states, because here’s a model that nobody’s doing. You have so many networks out there like EVgo, 7 charge at 7-Eleven, Circle K charge, EV Connect, blink, and the link goes on and on, and on all of these guys charge by the kilowatt hour or by time. this app that way you have a subscription and charge anytime you want sort of like when you use your Internet at home.
However, the things they need are to expand their network to other states and more locations in the 3 states they’re in, add more faster, charging units to at least 250 kW, and the biggest thing, get the word out! They need marketing because when you’re the only one in a space, you need to let people know about your advantage.
There are a lot of charging companies out there, and as we’ve already seen, there’s gonna be some that disappear and merge with others. I really hope this app makes it using the subscription model. If more people knew about it, it could be huge kudos to everyone at this company.
Very straightforward, user-friendly, and streamlined.
Wow ! User friendly and great interface! It is easy to start, stop and manage my charging sessions. Amazing customer service and product support when needed. It shows all the available chargers in my area and current status, no more waiting in lines like Tesla !!
A+
Definitely adding EVCS to my front page.
It’s been a better experience from other apps I’ve used. I’m glad they have stations near my area.
A+team
A+ App
A+ Chargers
This is definitely the best EV charging App, it’s user-friendly and convenient. Finding the charging stations near me and for my trips is easy, and they show the availability in real time. The design is also more aesthetically pleasing and the payment option is simple and cheaper than others.
Great new look and feel to EVCS ! I especially like that there is a pic of the chargers/site so that I have an idea of the area before I actually arrive to the site. I really like the new high tech looking DCFC at one of the newest site locations in Fairfield!
Searching for a location is much better and nice to be able to modify my subscription directly in EVCS now.
Thanks!
The new app is way smoother than the previous one! Response time and sensitivity ✅ enhanced search options ✅ user friendly and easy interface ✅ and their new subscription options are a godsend for Ride Share drivers 🙏🏽
Enjoy how easy it is to navigate, start and stop my charging sessions as well as the access I have to my account and the ability to change things quickly as needed.
The revamped version is so much better, aside from the overall design looking much sleeker, it also feels more user friendly, definitely recommend, 10/10
The this app app aggregates the this app charging network, allowing you to search through different charging stations in your area. It’s very user friendly with a modern and colorful design that makes it easy to navigate. Highly recommended!!
Charging my car has never been this easy, with their new and improved app I no longer struggle to find chargers near me !!! I will never use another charging network ever again!
Just what you need to locate available charger. Accurate and easy to use! Takes about 1 minute to find what I need. What else could you ask for?
This new app has improved functionality and great new features all under the same great network!
Great app. Easy to find nearby charging stations.
Great new app offering from this app. I prefer the network due to their unrivaled subscription plans; EVCS lets me find and initiate chargers seemlessly with my account.
I highly recommend the new this app app as its user friendly and easy to navigate.
Way better information than before.
New this app app is way better than the old, lots of helpful new features. Easy to use!
Great update. EVCS is easy to navigate and shows the different charging payment options with excellent clarity.
The new this app app has great new features! Super easy to use and I’m happy to see the new map search. It’s awesome!
EVCS has been improved in all aspects.
This new app is perfect.
Really easy to use. Scan the qr and charge!
Once again, the EVCS charger would not activate. My wife tried her app, also tried scanning the QR code, and I tried insetring a debit card. NOTHING WORKED. EVCS SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE ARE LESS THAN WORTHLESS. Also I'm sure EVCS placed a draw on my card which I will have to deal with tomorrow, but it's impossible to tell, because the cheap crappy plastic screen over every EVCS card reader is degraded and no longer transparent. DO NOT USE EVCS CHARGERS!
EVCS appears generally safe, but use with caution.
