Patiently (or not…) waiting! Will update review then. Would totally recommend, except one thing. (Hence, 4 stars ⭐️) I wish there were events (not the side trails) we could play. You know, one that were free? I completely understand about putting a price on games, I mean, as long as it’s reasonable, which it is! (6.99 for 3 sidetrails) but I have a personal rule about spending on apps, so it would be great if there were at least like, monthly mysteries, you know? While we wait for episode 3 to come out. I don’t know, maybe a Halloween disappearance or haunted house, (I know right? Classic…) maybe a Christmas robbery of the crown jewel 💎. Just an idea! Thanks so much for reading this, and to the devs for making an awesome game! Would totes recommend very engaging and fun and mysterious. P.S no ads unless you choose to watch them, so yeah, that’s my dealbreaker!! Love you 🫶🏽silversloth

I just got this game, and I absolutely enjoy it. I love how the time stamps match the real time. Despite the images being drawn, i find all the details to be so realistic! (I’ve been distracted and absorbed in this for 4 hours).

Update: Good [time of day], people! If you need a game that is made by someone who cares, this is for you. The creator of this amazing game takes time out of their day to answer our questions and concerns. There is a Discord server FULL of supportive fans and this is where we get our updates. Techyon spends so much time trying to keep the gamers engaged with the game WHILE also working on each chapter. I find games with communities such as this to be the best kinds of game. We all long for someone to listen to us, even on small bugs, and this game gives you just that.
Plus, there are mini-games.😌

I don’t really write reviews about mobile games, as they’re usually not much to rave about most of the time.

When I tell you this game had a chokehold on me for 4 1/2 hours I am not exaggerating. It was a lot of fun. The ads are only present if you need a hint. They don’t make the riddles, quizzes, or puzzles ridiculously hard so you have to ask for a hint every five seconds. There’s actual intrigue to the story. There were some grammar issues but only once in a blue moon (i.e “I and Kevin.” Or misplacement/use of the word “answering.”) and it was only noticeable maybe 3 times. I was completely engaged and ready to fist fight every teenager I encountered for answers about Zoey. The art style is very clean, and the user interface is satisfying and very responsive.

The ending of Ep. 1 had me shook. I am waiting at the edge of my seat for Ep.2.

When I saw a review calling this game a “one of a kind, unlike anything (they’ve) ever played!” I thought they were exaggerating. They were definitely not! I have played dozens of mystery games, and I haven’t been this engaged by a mystery game in years!! Truly a unique and exciting game, at parts I found myself shouting “No ___, don’t go in there!” And covering my mouth with my hand, as well as gasping outloud. This game definitely satisfied my love for background details, everything is so well planned out and cohesive, and every scene includes your input, there’s no long and boring cutscenes! The character interactions are fun and realistic, and I want to shake the hand of whoever came up with all of the clever riddles!! Needless to say, this game has my approval and I will be excitedly waiting for Episode three!

I have tried so many mobile games as a way for my mind to decompress during down time, and most of them I delete the same day I download it. I find it extremely difficult to find “games” which are educational, challenging, enjoyable, and engaging. The Oregon Trail, Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego, and Assassin’s Creed are three of the only video games I have genuinely enjoyed. But now, with Elmwood - I can’t put it down! I’m glad I downloaded it on a Sunday because I don’t feel bad about letting it take up a chunk of my day. It’s very frustrating to see all the idiotic, pointless, redundant games that people somehow find enjoyable? This is not that! This is a hidden gem! if you are a critical thinker, enjoy solving puzzles (this isn’t a puzzle game, however. or like where’s waldo, those are boring) and mysteries, or are skilled in anticipating behavior - try it!! the only thing I would change is that the side trails were more accessible (aka not an in app purchase) I know you can play the Symmetry game but 800 points takes forever. literally my only complaint. and I understand why it’s that way, it’s a small team of developers.
I cannot wait until episode 3 comes out!!

I don’t write reviews often and when I do they’re usually not 5 stars! I do have one very minor dislike but otherwise IM IN LOVE.

dislike being: within messaging we only get two options to choose from for our responses, both seemingly leading to the same conclusion. This is fine generally but sometimes it seems like even having the option to choose is pointless (I also have not had the chance to play the game in it’s entirety more than once to see how those options change things, if they do. And will most definitely update if I get the opportunity to do so).
Other than that one odd thing, it’s 5 stars, 10/10 so simple and to the point, the art styles aren’t overwhelming, it’s relaxing AND a solid challenge. I love it, hope to see more !!

I don’t leave reviews often, but this amazing game merits one! As someone who likes the suspense, I’ve been looking for a game to work out my brain and let me sleep at night. I’m not much of a horror person, so The Sign isn’t for me. I love the voices for the characters, and the puzzles are definitely mind twisters. I love the interaction with the puzzles, but the data thing on Zoey’s phone, some of them are confusing. I’m glad no random ads steal game time besides the hints, which are very useful. The cliffhanger at the end of Episode Two left me reeling! I felt like a real detective playing this. I don’t get why the Sidetrails in an extra $7, but thank goodness they don’t do anything to aid the story. It’s like reading a good mystery novel, you hate some characters, but you also feel the tension only writers can muster. I enjoy this story thoroughly. 100% would recommend!!!

Just got this game today and I’m instantly hooked! I expected a point and click mystery game, but I was surprised by the social connection aspect of it. I’ve never been interested in that style of game play, but I really like the frame of solving a mystery, with real stakes and being blackmailed rather than sweet nothings. The scene switch action is simple and intuitive, and I enjoy the art style. I hope that we may see more scenes as we get out of the office and into the field to look for Zoey. The graphic style is unique and polished, I like the story, and the complexities of blending who I am as a detective, with whom my contact will talk to, and who I am as a person.
The last thing I’ll say are the Easter eggs with how the game phones sync up with my battery life and Wi-Fi, and all the other app Easter eggs.
Great game!!

It is 2 AM as I am posting this. I believe I started playing around 11 PM? I was hooked immediately. Of course the game railroads you a bit when you already know the answer, but some of those puzzles were genuinely difficult. It’s so cool that it’s such an interactive game. I’m truly the detective and I know exactly what he knows. We’re in this together. I’m going to their Discord to see some theories BUT OMGOSH. The cliffhanger.

How long has it been now… 51 days since her disappearance? How can she still be alive? Who would take her? Why would she willingly be a part of a cult? Who was stalking her? Who originally gave the case to the detective? And what is on her phone that I’m not supposed to find… because I’ve found quite a bit already.

I won't lie, free games, especially IOS games, tend to be misleading or very misleading or inaccurate. However, this game absolutely without a doubt one of the best and most phenomenal games I have EVER played. I am a very picky person when it comes to games, especially on IOS because of all the non stop ads, bad graphics, or just poor overall gameplay. This game is everything I could've asked for in a mystery game (for free). It's an ad free game unless you want a hint for if you get stuck on a difficult riddle or problem throughout the game. The ads are only maybe 30 seconds each? And the hints are very very helpful. This game is tricky, but not overly hard or overwhelming to the point where you want to quit. Throughout the game your characters name is Adam, and Adam is trying to figure out a missing persons case using both his phone, and other clues to help solve "who done it." It is SO much fun especially if you like solving things like puzzles and also if you love a good mystery game. I will 100% be raving about it to my friends, and I cannot WAIT until episode 3 releases. I am praying it is soon because I seriously cannot wait!

I’m a fan of mystery games, but have been disappointed by pretty much every one that I’ve tried. So when I saw this one, I won’t lie- I did not have my hopes up. Little did I know how (delightfully) wrong I would be! This game is amazing, with a gripping story, lots of fun and engaging sleuthing to do, and with a tasteful sprinkling of pop culture and meta humor to give it just the right amount of personality. I thought that not ever actually getting to physically explore any of the areas in this world would be a downside, but the game not only manages to keep it from feeling dull and stationary, but does it so well and with such atmosphere that it delivers some truly pulse-pounding moments without your character ever leaving the interface of your phone connections. I’m not the type to leave reviews normally :( so for me to go out of my way to write one for this- well, let’s just say if you like mystery games, I can’t recommend this enough!
Edit: you do eventually venture out into the dangerous world of Riverstone! And it does not disappoint! Can’t wait for episode three, or even just more side trails!

as an adult; I have to admit, this game is very intriguing and fun. specially when you have some downtime, bored, and/or just want something fun or different to do, to pass the time or before bed. def has a much better storyline than most story-choice driven games these days; and also has plenty of fun puzzles and side missions to unlock as you go on throughout the story. I don’t want to say too much and spoil it; but highly recommend for all ages 12 and up.

like to thank the creators for such an intricate; yet, fun game to play. when my son goes to sleep; I like to take the extra time and play my little puzzles and what not. I just so happened to have come across this game while searching for something new, and said “why not.” five minutes in, and I was completely hooked and captivated. thankyou guys so much for keeping mobile gaming alive and interesting, even for us adults. mad respect and props to you for such an amazing game and story. ☺️🙏🏼

Game itself is super good and it’s obvious that a lot of care was put into it. The only issues I have are the hints and general dialogue. The first hint is always outrageously unhelpful. “Look in the phone for a clue” Like no duh?? It gets frustrating fast. The only other thing is the dialogue is very… inhuman? It feels off. It isn’t fluid or realistic. ESPECIALLY our character. His actions and words make him seem like a 10 year old as opposed to a seasoned detective. I found myself just sitting there for a good minute because both dialogue choices were some of the worst statements ever and I couldn’t decide which one would make me cringe less. OTHERWISE!! The game is very well done. Puzzles are fair and the overall story is interesting. (also to those with epilepsy, be careful adjusting the photos because it flashes like crazy!)

An Elmwood Trail is hands done the most engaging mystery/detective games I have ever played. It’s so hard to even compare An Elmwood Trail to other games because in comparison there is no competition that even comes close. When I first downloaded I expected to get part of the game free, and the rest to be behind a paywall like most other games. An Elmwood Trail requires ZERO extra spending, unless you want more content that is separate from the main story. Most games have puzzles that require little thought or big flashy ways to let you know what direction to go in the story. An Elmwood Trail is able to have elements that are easy to understand, but thought is required. I wish I could go back in time to play this game again, and I can’t wait for the next episodes to come out. I recommend this game to everyone that has even a slight interest, trust me you will love it just as much!

I personally, love mysteries. However, almost all mystery games I try to play are full of adds, you have to match things, or are way to hard and don’t give you enough hints to figure it out.
Unlike those games, In this game all the adds are optional, the puzzles are hard but not too hard, and there’s nothing that I have to complete to continue that’s not related to the mystery. I think the characters are great, the story is great, the motives are great. Everything. I finished this game in a day and a half— but don’t let that make you think it was too easy and short. I finished so quick because I couldn’t stop playing this game. It had me firmly in its grasp and I did not want to come out. I was hooked. Once I finished it, my jaw dropped at the huge connection and I instantly wanted part two. I highly recommend this game and hope you play it.

I am one of those people who don’t stay up late at night watching tik tok. I am busy playing games. I downloaded this game thinking that it would be a fun little game to play on my spare time. I was entirely wrong. Not only did I get hooked but I got my friends hooked. This game was always my escape from reality. All of my friends were thrilled when we heard about episode 3 coming out in October. Whoever came up with the text based rpg mystery game is an insane genius. The graphics are amazing. Make sure you check out techyonic’s instagram page. You can find links to merchandise and they have information about the release date for episode 3. I hope that An Elmwood Trail makes it way to the top of the charts. A really fun and exciting game. If you don’t get hooked in the first 5 minutes you play then your gonna have problems with me.

I have played my share of mystery/detective games similar to this but this game so far has topped them all. I like the clues that you need to discover, they all make sense and add to the story by bringing up more questions in an intuitive way that doesn’t seem forced. I like that the game provides a way to get hints by solving puzzles and watching an ad (which I don’t mind one bit because I do want the devs to profit from their hard work and support). If I had to come up with a recommendation to make the game better I would say that I wish that your answers to the dialog in texts would change the outcome of the exchange depending on your answer but the game really doesn’t need this to get 5 stars from me. I have been enjoying the game so far and I hope that I have just scratched the surface with much more to come. We’ll see…. If you are looking for a detective game give this one a try!!

As my title indicates, I normally don’t write reviews for games. However, this game is truly amazing. The quality is extremely well done and very clean. I like the casual taylor swift references included in minuscule aspects of the design. I also really appreciate how there are no ads unless you need a hint. It keeps me more entertained because I don’t need to constantly be skipping through things i don’t want. The pace and mystery of the game is really well written as well. It is a good difficulty, where it’s not super easy to figure out the close, but also not extremely hard where a person might get frustrated easily. This team is doing a phenomenal job for their game. Especially with only three people. Elmwood trail seems to be designed with the game player in mind, rather than trying to make the lost amount of money. All in all, this game is defiantly worth the download and i’m excited for chapter two.

I was honestly expecting this game to be really expensive for example: people having to buy tickets, have gems, have to wait hours for a new episode etc. But, this is actually the game I’ve been wanting for a long time. You can play it without internet, you don’t need to buy anything (unless you want to but you don’t have to), and there’s an amazing storyline! This game gives off clues cuz the puzzles are actually kinda hard AND you don’t even need to buy them! Just way an add! I honestly 100% recommend this game for any person who needs games to play when bored or just simply need something to-do. This game gets your thinking and seeing into others peoples thoughts not just yours. Not only that the main character a.k.a the detective has some family drama of his own (his a horrible husband to his wife those not treat her right). Anyways this is getting long but the whole point is play this game IT IS AMAZING.

This game is truly, truly, TRULY amazing. I remember playing the first episode a while back and being so impressed by the attention to details; I got all my friends and family to play it! I had been anticipating the release of the second episode and following along with any updates of it on the Elmwood Trail discord. Then, BOOM! It was released. Needless to say, I finished the entirety of the second episode in one sitting. I didn’t think the impact I felt from the first episode could be beat, but I was very wrong. From the phone calls to the puzzles to the timed games, this game left me both in sheer awe and anticipation. From what I recall, the team working on this game is very small (4-5 people I believe?). Personally speaking, I believe the quality of “An Elmwood Trail” trumps some of those games released by much bigger companies. This game is truly the outcome of hard work, dedication, and intelligence. Thank you to the team working on this game!
