The device is paired and app is working but changing the eq settings does nothing. There is no perceivable difference in sound. Since that is the only feature of Aleck I’m interested in Aleck is of no use to me and has been deleted from my phone. The sound quality is adequate with factory settings.

I just purchased 2 of these for me and my wife. We can’t even get these things to work right in the house, how do they expect this to work on the mountain? It cuts your music off and you have to get your phone out to open up Pandora to start it back up. Sometimes it turns your mic off sometimes it turns it on. The delay is horrendous. While in party mode, the music is turned down so low you can barely hear it. Absolute trash.

It took 35 minutes for apple to even get Aleck to download on an iPhone 15. It took over 50 attempts and some of them even openly gave the message that Aleck isn’t available in your country. I live in New York. If someone hasn’t been fired over this, then the company should just cease operations.

I bought the this app 006 to integrate with my daughter’s and my Smith helmets for music. When I tried to download this app Go I found it is discontinued. The current app requires registration. I really have no intention of registering for an app and the associated e-mails just for a set of head phones. I’m disappointed that registration is required just to access an equalizer for a set of ski helmet headphones.

Every time I try to download the Mt Bachelor resort map Aleck crashes and cancels the download. Asked tech support for help, they said it worked for them and left it at that. I was able to download other maps, so I know it’s not user error. Detailed maps and seeing where my buddies are was 50% of why I bought these headphones. Bummed.

Took out on a bike ride and could hear almost everything around me except the order person in my party. They would talk and I could barely hear them over the surrounding noises without them having to shout. They could not hear me above a whisper no matter what we tried. Not happy at all with the purchase of the devices and we’re stuck with two.

Was excited to keep track of the family while skiing, but alas there are to many bugs to rely on Aleck. It continually closed itself on one phone. The push to talk worked intermittently and often with a big delay. The tracking was also inconsistent. And the time for the firm ware update was just ridiculous
Love the idea of Aleck , but it has a long way to go to be truly functional.

Nothing about this works properly. I can join a group but when the comms work they are super delayed, if you are on the slope itself ambient noise is 100x louder than the voices. I can here the sounds of people skiing or the wind but I can’t hear the person trying to talk.
If I play music I’ll blow my eardrums out, but still have trouble hearing the other people trying to talk.
That’s IF it’s working at all. The majority of the time it’s entirely useless and doesn’t work.

After struggling with Aleck I discovered there was a new app. This has to be the most difficult app to set up, pair, grant permissions, you name it. I haven’t even used it on the slopes yet and I’m about to give up on it. Based on some reviews I highly expect the experience to be bad.

We are weeks out from the season start and I wanted to check the this app go app for updates to my this app 006. The entire company seems rebranded with a new app and the old one shut down. Which is fine, I’m all for progress and new features but the UI of Aleck is painful. While the headphones claim hi fidelity audio but I would say the audio quality is closer to the headphones an airline gives out for free. When you tune the eq they become tolerable but that feature is gone now. Maybe it’s hidden but the process to add my set to the Aleck seems broken and there is no ability to tune the eq, update or anything that I was hoping to find with Aleck .

It used to work, now it’s useless for this app 006. Last update killed it.

Went through initial pairing. My iPhone saw and paired with the headphones, but Aleck just hung up on pairing at “open settings”.

Save yourself the money and don’t purchase this communication set. Very difficult to use and is often unresponsive to commands.

Headphones Works good but Aleck is absolutely terrible tons of bugs. The sound quality is much better after tuning in Aleck but Aleck only works 1% of the time.

Nothing works, EVER! Too finicky. Return if you still have time. We own 4 and are stuck with them. Nothing more than overpriced bluetooth speakers. Buy anything other than these! My $20 Skull Candy’s work as advertised unlike this garbage.

The music streaming works. It’s ok, not great. The walkie-talkie never works. I used it for a year and other than a random word or 2 I was never able to talk to anyone in our group of three. Another couple we know also has this system and they can’t even get music to stream reliably.
by Spu239
This is a big failed app that you cannot even get past the registration and signing up without significant problems. Too many bugs, and not reliable for communication, they will be returned for a refund. It’s a shame. They started with a good idea, but could not execute it.
Try the Cena snow talk, on Amazon, they actually work without an apt true walkie-talkie, Bluetooth wireless communication.

So far Aleck has been a headache to use. I’m pretty tech literate, and I’M struggling to connect the companies hardware to Aleck . May return if this issue does not get resolved.

I previously used the this app Go app, and I loved the dark mode feature. It was the most useful feature in Aleck . I now can no longer use my iPhone to call or text, because Siri says “you’ll have to unlock your iPhone first”. This means I have to take off my gloves and get the phone out of my pocket every time I want to use the phone for anything other than an incoming call. Please bring this feature back.
by Outdoorsybff
Easy to use. Rad features like the hands free party mode chats. Can’t wait to use all this season.

Family of 4 - we all set up our devices and joined a group with ease. If you are about to go skiing I would skip the firmware update as it takes awhile. Received prompt response on customer service question 👍

I wasn’t expecting much from the reviews but the audio quality is really good( I have no clue why someone said this was airline quality), I just installed them into my Smith Mission helmet. The audio has great depth the volume can get pretty high which I like, the equalizer is a huge plus(one recommendation is that you guys label what each frequency means). I haven’t tried any of the social features yet but I’ll see if I can update my review once I do , just from a glance the map built into Aleck is really detailed. Aleck and setup of the device was easy. Overall I have zero complaints and am really excited to try this out on mountain.
