Apple Watch compatible

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport on my phone is wonderful. I love being able to conspire and keep up to date with the snow conditions.

My one issue is that it does not work on ky Apple Watch. Supposedly you can track your route on your watch and upload it to your phone, however, it never transferred even though I forced re-tried or restarted my watch.

It also wants me to sign in but I have no way to make an account or if I try it simply fails.

Great Improvements!

I really like how easy it is to add my favorite ski resorts and I loved the personal touch with the “snow before you go” meteorologist report video! Nicely done. Also like the ability to watch the video Picture in Picture and still be able to browse OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport .

I like to his app, nothing really to complain about over the years, but

I very much am satisfied with OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport but there is always room for improving I guess. Maybe just quicker updates if possible. Or some really cool feature to blow us away. Maybe like more trail focus, on maps or even 3D maps or trial runs. Can I have a job since I’m kinda consulting for u? Or I can have ur job? ☺️ Thanks, Chris Ramsey

OLD

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is sweet, easy to use, instant pow reports and helpful looking up other resorts local and far. Easy to post about resort conditions, and asking or answering question, except for the occasional haters opinion(Don't Hate, instead snowboard & skate).

By

No more historic snow fall data

I use this site constantly to check conditions or plan trips. Recently with the new update it no longer shares “historical snow fall data” which was one of my favorite features to analyze when planning trips far in advance.

Plan my day

I look at this every morning before I make plans for the day.
Accurate information. Helps you know who got how much where.
You pick who you want to see.

Best free snow reports imo

I’ve only tried using three apps including this one. But this is by far my favorite. The predictions have been pretty accurate over the past 2 months. Hopefully it stays free

By

Terrible and useless forecasts

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is useless for weather forecasts at the resorts. Seems they only report snow after it happens. Better off using the resorts websites for accurate weather forecasting and reports. If you want to know what lifts and trails are open OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is for you. Anything else don’t waste your time.

By

Non-functional

I don’t know what happened but I tried to open OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport recently and it just never gets beyond the loading screen. It worked well for me last season but no luck this year. I’ve deleted and redownloaded OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport multiple times but it still just doesn’t work. There’s also no support to email to figure out what the problem is. Hopefully someone sees this and reaches out.

By

Great Ap!

Quick and fast with the essentials keeps you updated on the conditions and the individual reports are invaluable to find out the true conditions

By

Didnt use to work but thanks for fixing!

App just sits on the splash screen.

Update: thanks for fixing OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport . It is useful when it is working

By

Decent, but sluggish

It’s got a nice interface and all the info I’d want, though I pretty frequently have the scrolling function stop working (I can click on other things, just can’t scroll the main screen) on multiple pages and have to restart OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport .

By

Poor Execution

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is a great idea. Definitely designed for those who want to stay updated…. But now you have to put in the correct information.
Weather is rarely accurate or is a week old. Cameras are never showing anything besides a blank screen.
Follow through just isn’t a thing :(

By

Very hard to post snow condition update

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport does a good job of combining snow reports from different resorts. It has an option for users to post updates, but it almost always fails to work correctly. It’s a real shame. If users could easily upload pictures and updates, it would be a really great app.

By

Great app, has its flaws

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is designed well and is informative and easy to use but the forecasts given are not always correct. The resorts that I ski at do have very unpredictable weather, but NOAA and NWAC(local avalanche ect service) do a lot better.

By

Used to be great...and then came the update

Nooo! OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport used to be great. You could sort ur favorite resorts by a whole bunch of different categories like latest snowfall or base depth and now I can’t see any order to it at all. I might be missing something but if so that just means it’s obscure, obfuscated and counter intuitive. Either way I’m done. This is terrible now and I’m shifting to NOAA from now on

By

Perfect conditions At Baqueira Beret Jan 7, 2022

After a snow storm the conditions were perfect with 4-6 inches of fresh powder and clear sunny day. The entire mountain was open. A delightful ski day!

By

Doesn’t work!

App won’t launch, even after most recent 9.1 update, despite developer saying that issue should now be fixed. Running iPhone X with iOS 15 but app will not move off the initial splash screen. Same thing on iPad. Tried restarting, reinstalling - no dice. Used to work well but now clearly broken.

By

Great improvements!

OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport works great and there are many new improvements! Can’t wait to use it this winter.

By

Not accurate

Love the idea of OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport but it’s ALWAYS wrong. The weather report is never right and the snow reports are almost never updated. I still check OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport but just checking your weather apps is far more accurate

Horrible UI/UX update (ver 7.x)

I was wondering why my girlfriend was having such a hard time finding information after I told her to download OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport, which I’ve used nearly exclusively for years. “It’s all on one page. It shows you everything—open runs/lifts, latest snowfall, projected opening/closing dates—for all your favorites on one page,” I said. “You can see those details and whats going on for 10+ resorts all at once within a 5 second scan. It’s great. Easy. You probably just need to add a few resorts to your favorites.”

She was still having problems. I just assumed she was not so tech savvy. It wasn’t until I recently downloaded the update for OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport that I realized what the problem was. The developers completely trashed what used to be a 5-star app.

It almost seems as if the developers lost their sense of UX. I’m not opposed to change. But I do have a problem when change creates excessive inefficiency. What I used to be able to see within 2-3 taps, 5 seconds of opening OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport now takes several taps, several scrolls, and several minutes. The usability of OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport (as of ver. 7.x) went to the dumps.

The new version is a huge step backward

It verges on not being at all useful. I have been an avid user for 5 years. This was my tool to see where (which ski areas) it had snowed and where it was going to snow and what temp and conditions were. It is now a vehicle for ads. The forecast component is terrible now. The history component is not much better; I can see snow in the past 2 days. This has gone from a useful ski app to useless. The layout and architecture is so compromised, I don’t see how it can ever be a helpful tool.

Update: It doesn’t even feel like an app, more like a mobile web site. You can find things, but they are really buried. Went from one star to two—but the previous version was 4+ and lived on my iPhone home screen. This one will be moved way back, and if you continue to force social media log-in credentials, I am gone. I would pay a $5-10/year subscription for this info with less obtrusive ads and a better interface. Would pay that for the old app.

They ruined this app

I live in Colorado, and snowboard about 20-25 days a year. This used to be an awesome app, definitely my go to for years. But now if I don’t sign in with google, Facebook, or twitter I can’t save my favorite resorts?? What?? The fact that I allowed your app into my phone should be enough to be able to, at very least, save favorites. This, coupled with the constant ad bombardment is why I’ll be deleting OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport, and downloading a better one. You don’t have to look very far to find similar apps that don’t require social media logins, are clean and to the point, and far easier to navigate.
Thank you for all the years that OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport was awesome! I’ll be leaving you now, good luck with whatever direction you’re trying to go with this. I can tell you it’s the opposite direction of user friendly, but what do I know, I’m just a snowboarder that want quick and easy snow totals. Peace!

App is losing value

I’ve used OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport for my snow reports for several seasons now. While it was good and used to work seamlessly, it’s now starting to fall apart. Now sometimes my snow reports won’t even update for days. Leaving me looking for other ways to check my favorite resorts snow totals A couple things I’d like to see on a new updated app:

- I’d suggest updating the UI as OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is getting a bit outdated. Something fresh and modern instead of looking boxy and plain with bright colors.

- updated trail maps

- the ability to organize your favorite resorts by state or region

- show acreage open per mountain (helpful for the first two/three months of the season)

- ability to zoom in and scroll vertically on trail maps. (currently you can only scroll horizontally while zoomed in, thus almost making it pointless.)

- updated snow depth history (charts look incomplete and it’s hard to visualize the chart and compare with last season)

Overall i’ve loved using OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport in the past and it’s been my go to for snow reports but it’s showing its age and needs a major overhaul to stay at the forefront of snow reports and weather updates. I’ve now started to go elsewhere for my information.

Oh, no, no, nooo! What happened??

Unfortunately, I will have to agree with the most recent reviews. OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport WAS very useful, but changes have literally made it useless to me and clearly, to many others, as well. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with the recent update. In my opinion, they tried to fix something that wasn’t broken and you know what they say about that.
I get changing the model in search of revenue, but this clearly triggered a chain of very bad decisions. Unfriendly redesign, transition was not user friendly either, features not working, and ultimately, ‘going for it’ with what is clearly a product that was not ready. Heck, even the in-app ads seem intrusive and annoying, even though I have plenty other apps with them.
Hoping they get this very pressing situation taken care of pronto, but I will have to move on to a new app.

Used to love this app

I have used On The Snow for a few years now to give me a quick and dirty look on my way out the door at which hill to hit. The info was concise and easy to read.

I eagerly anticipated the UI update as the data collected by OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport seemed to fall off midway through last season. The update arrived days before the first lifts stared turning this year so I was super excited. Low and behold you now need to log in via Facebook, Google or Twitter...seriously TWITTER? I would rather be subjected to all the freaking ads you threw at me before the update than have to log in as a guest and search for the hills I’d like to know about every time. So inconvenient.

I want to ski not tweet about what I’m drinking at the base of the hill. I just want a quick look at the snow totals, if you are going to make me use Google I will just use Google. Uninstalled.

Always use it for ski season

First, most apps have ads so let’s get over that. I actually don’t see that many to be honest. Anyway. OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport allows you to pick the resorts you want to monitor snowfall, powder/conditions, lifts and trails open, peoples reviews of the day, pictures, alerts you when one of your resorts gets fresh snow....I really like it. It also has trail maps that you can actually see when you zoom in, location maps, you can be emailed about price deals, vacation packages, etc. Also the resorts are worldwide. Not just specific to the U.S. I’m a big skier and I love it.

By

Downgraded itself

I agree with the recent reviews about OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport. It used to be great, super useful, definitely had ads but they didn’t get in the way of the info you were looking for. No email bs required to open OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport and continually see your saved mountains. I just downloaded the “upgrade” because I wanted to see if it was reflecting the status of a mountain being open yet correctly and I feel like I’ve just entered a beta mode for a crappy new app. Not the same at all. You can’t even see all your resorts on one screen (4-5 that I’m looking at). It’s clunky and just a vessel for ads. I’m really bummed this has happened - return OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport to its former state and I’ll be back as a user, in the meantime I’ll have to go somewhere else.

Total garbage

Instant uninstall after the update. Absolute trash update. Ive used OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport for years, and now it's completely useless. It doesn't save any of my resorts, and when I try to log in using Facebook, it says there's an error and I can't even sign in. Totally useless. And after the response from developers to other terrible reviews, no I will not stay with you while you work to fix this. It was perfect and y'all got greedy and screwed it up. No one wants to use you website when we have an app, so that's pointless to make us sign in so we can use OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport and website. Why even have OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport , if you want us to use the website. Fire whoever is in charge of these updates, just cost y'all a lot of business

Used to Love this App... major step-back with update

This used to be my go-to app for ski and snow reports. It was great; everything was laid out well and easy to see, especially in terms of fresh snow (which the majority of us care the most about). Following this update, it isn’t even worth the download. I’m not sure what the plan was by implementing all the changes they did, but it doesn’t even resemble the original and is far less clear/helpful (not to mention the numerous ads and forced social media login). It pains me to find another app to use after 4-5 years of religiously checking this one, however my time using “On The Snow” is over...

New version seems to be a fix in search of a problem.

I LOVED the previous version. It was one of the more user friendly apps on my phone. Great info. Easy to post. Loved the pics. And I didn’t have to use Google, FB, or Twitter to sign in (ironic, at the least, that an iOS app won’t allow iCloud credentials to sign in). Not sure why an email and password won’t suffice to sign in, but demanding those credentials is a huge turn-off. The UI is not intuitive at all. It doesn’t remotely resemble the previous interface, which seemed great. OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport is no longer useful to me. 4-star app relegated to 1-star box on my screen. I’m only hanging on to it with hopes the developers do some sort of about face on design and execution.

By

Was good until this new version.

So as a Coloradan this has been my go to app for a very long time. I could deal with apps when they became more invasive because OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport was very easy to use and showed me everything I needed to know at a glance. I also used the downloadable trail maps often when traveling to new resorts or even when at my local places and I wanted to get outside of my ordinary runs.

Since this latest version that went out the window. The new interface is hardly usable and if you want to save your favorite resorts you have to login via email or social media. Like the other comment or said, I’ll give it about a week then peace out if there’s not a major fix.

Update FAIL

Wow, guys... Been my favorite for years and now it’s completely useless. I would suggest switching it back ASAP before the season really kicks off, cause nobody will keep (or choose) OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport now. I loved it before cause you could see all the stats at a glance., no scrolling. Easy to see. No extra bs. Keep in mind most ppl are just waking up and pressed for time when glancing. We don’t want to putts around on an app. It’s almost as if you hired a kid who went snowboarding once during spring break to “make you money”. Here’s a secret. I bet if you had left it the way it was, and added a small fee.. ppl would've paid you. Cause it was good. I’ll wait and see if it switches.. Otherwise I’m forced to move on.

What happened?

I used OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport up until about 5 years ago and it was amazing. It had everything you needed all on one page: snowfall, run and lift closure, user reports, and even weather forecasts. All easy to understand and navigate. I downloaded OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport again a couple of weeks ago and I have no idea why happened to it. I literally thought I was looking at a pop-up ad for about 5 mins until I realized it was the main page for keystone resort. I think all of the same features still exist but now the page is overwhelmed with ads and clutter. Not sure if anyone cares about this but I can’t use this amazing app anymore.

By

No longer saves favorites!

This has been my go-to ski report app for years, but his new version does not save the list of ski areas. Each time I enter OnTheSnowSkiSnowReport I am required to choose a log in method and then search for an area to get the report. Yes, I made sure the heart was filled in. What if I want to compare multiple resorts? I must search for each individually. Perhaps they want me to register to save resorts? If so, I’m gone. I’ll read ads-app developers need to earn a good living. But I’m not giving more personal info to get public information. I’ll give it a week or two to get fixed before I give up; On The Snow has been a solid app.
