As others have pointed out, the original Aviary app was a one-time ~$5 purchase and was supported for less than 2 years before being ditched for Aviary 2. This makes me weary of supporting any developers that switch to a subscription model and offer no sort of accommodations to those who previously purchased the app. Upon trying Aviary 2, there were actually some features missing compared with the first Aviary app and others that felt gimmicky and not particularly useful (e.g. AR features). The other qualm I have with switches to subscriptions is the price increase. This app is now ~$15 per year, which is 3x more than the original one-time purchase. I understand needing to switch to subscription, but then why not make ir a cheaper price such as $5/year? This app just doesn’t inspire confidence and its longevity is questionable.

I’m more than happy to pay a nominal recurring subscription, but this pricing is embarrassing. The annual charge is a bit higher than it should be—the developer should know $10 USD is a great marketing number— but then, the lifetime(!?) price is ridiculous when ***v1 of this app wasn’t even supported for two years!*** The developer wants over two years of “subscription fees” upfront with no proof of ongoing support. The developer is upset by the low reviews related to complaints about cost (not to mention bugs)…maybe try adjusting the pricing!

Wanted to check this out, the only way to get a free trial is by subscribing to a 1 year plan to get 3 days free. Looks like you're hoping people will try it and forget about canceling it. When I decided I wasn't going to subscribe, it wouldn't let me cancel out of the screen or quit the app. I had to go to Activity Monitor to Force Quit. Any chance at this being better than TweetBot has been lost because I just uninstalled.
