Wrong colors, no grain, doesn't look filmic

The only reason I'm not giving it 1 star is because of the really user friendly app layout and the yearly price. Easy to use, most options can be unlocked by taking a certain number of pics (some over 1000). I noticed Portra 160 had absolutely wrong color. At least from the description text and pics shown. FilmCam only applies a color preset. No grain, dust, glow or vignette, nothing. Those are the essence of film. The pics taken by this, doesn't look anything like film. Doesn't even give you the camera lens selection option. Have a look at Filmroll or Kada Cam, it's not perfect but miles better than FilmCam.

Not truly a film simulator

Buyer beware. Although the advertising may seem like this is giving you a replica of what a particular film would give you, it only delivers on color tones rather than the grain and roll-off that film and other film apps gives you.

Paid subscription app

They really need to crackdown on all the “free” apps that require a subscription to use after downloading. Be transparent with your pricing. I Do not mind paying for an app. I would rather pay for a great app than have more useless low quality free apps but I’m not going to pay a monthly or weekly subscription fee for filters, especially when you won’t even let me try them first. One filter that can be used does not look like the film it’s meant to emulate and the fake Polaroid frame eeeh

Wonderful App With One Annoying Flaw

This is a wonderful photo app. Perhaps the best successor to the now defunct 6x6 photo app. But in recent weeks FilmCam has displayed an advertising pop-up that significantly undermines the user experience. That’s doubly annoying since I paid for the in-app upgrade that is supposed to prevent advertising pop-ups. Wish I could have contacted the developer privately about this matter but a review like this appears to be the only way to communicate my concern.

Films simulations are fine.

A couple things would make it better.
You can’t preview the frame effect before taking the picture. The “film roll frame” effect should NOT have image data within the little holes of the spool haha. Give the option to place the date stamp on either corner. Give the option to format the time stamp month/day/year.

Low-resolution with frame

Unfortunately the resolution is very low if you use a frame. The frame even looks low-res. I am not interested in subscribing for this reason. If this was to change I would be interested. I would also prefer an option to buy and keep rather than subscribe.

Not asking too much price wise

I am a native phone app user, and professional photographer. FilmCam seems truly reasonably priced for what it is which may make it the first time I purchase a photo app. So far it looks good. Would love to find myself fully impressed by this one. Figures crossed. :)

Would need a focal control though.

Interesting

I think it’s pretty cool to have many film types. I wish FilmCam looked more like a traditional camera, but it works great. It doesn’t have a lifetime price, but at $5 a year, it’s a good price if you use it often.

Great App

Love how you can unlock new films using challenges, wish it was the same for the frames instead of needing pro

Interesting app

I have been playing with it for a while, the quality is quite good. Give you certain setting of fujifilm cam.

Like it so far

Wish you could take 2-3 pictures on each type of film before unlocking them

9/10 but….. 2 hang ups

Amazing app. My favorite app. I use it for all my work. 9/10! One hang up though. When you edit a photo and save it, you have to start all over again and you have to find and scroll through all the albums to edit another photo. Once we finish editing and save it, we should be able to continue where we left off. Make it allot easier for the user. Also, can you add opacity level where we can lower the strength of the filter. That would be a good option.

Great

I liked it but it was better if the effects was unlock

Very nice

Only 2 problems 1. Paying 2. No exporting (which is paying) sorry but it is a 10/10 I like it ❤️❤️❤️

Easy to use

Very easy access and quickly easy to snap a picture whenever you want wherever you want

Please give us 48 mega pixels

FilmCam itself is amazing and the shots come out beautiful. No horrid hdr and terrible filter effects. It's like the devs actually know how to imitate a roll of film. You devs are amazing. Just please give us 48mp

Camera

Love FilmCam makes my pictures better and prettier I am obsessed I personally prefer this camera then my original one.

Now I don’t need to buy a Kodak

I was gonna go buy a camera for some retro pictures but this is pretty cool and you can use a lots of different filters without needing to pay.

Best Film App Ever Made

I’d give it six stars if I could. FilmCam really is the best substitute for buying a real film camera. Unlike other film camera apps, where most of the cameras are pro, FilmCam lets you unlock the cameras, which immerses you in the film experience. 10/10 would recommend.

It’s good for me

Because Film Cam app is very useful for my random shots! Thank for creating FilmCam for me and others🩷
