This app doesn’t work as well as it should

It. Only woworks on common plants
It’s terrible

App is not great at identifying plants

App consistently (from three different camera angle) misidentified snaps of a tropical tree as a “black cherry” which used up all my free snaps. Does not give an option for other trees it could be, or for feedback to be submitted indicating that the snap ID was wrong. Nice interface, but… it needs to work to be worth a download.

Save your money!

Have tried for weeks now to get PlantApp to work to no avail! Have contacted customer support and IT Support and all they say is they’ve forwarded it to the appropriate department and they’ll be looking at the problem along with a note stating thank you for helping to make our app better for our users. This company and or app designer basically took $50 from me and then expects me to diagnose and trouble shoot their crappy app. What a waste of money and energy!!! There are apps that actually work out there and this is Not one of them

It’s a No for me

It’s a hard no for me. We’re talking about an app that should give you a free trial. Or let you try it out for a day or two before you decide to purchase. Instead they want a review and for you to pay for subscription before you try it. What do you want me to review? The fact that I can’t use it before I pay? what exactly is it that you’re wanting me to review? I’m not reviewing you except a negative review for anything that will not allow me to try it out before I pay for it. So keep your app book and guess what I got it for two bucks

DO NOT DOWNLOAD

I downloaded PlantApp to try to fix the sick plant. Once I realize that it was a weekly subscription I canceled the service and deleted PlantApp . It stated that my subscription would end at the end of my billing cycle. Now I can’t use my other apps because PlantApp is still trying to bill me even after I’ve canceled it and deleted it off my phone. In addition to that it identified my plant twice. I end up going to Home Depot find a plant that look like mine and that is how I found out what it was PlantApp could not even tell me how to fix the sick plant. Those remedies were not there.

Horrible!

Thought I’d try PlantApp based on an ad showing how easy it is to take a pic of a sick plant and immediately get advice on how to cure the plant. Well—the free trial doesn’t do this at all. It correctly ID’d the name of the plant and suggested a few possible problems, but did NOT tell me exactly what to do. Instead it listed a lot of info which looked overwhelming to read, and I could do that for free. The point of PlantApp (which is NOT free after a very short 3-day trial) is to do the research for me to save me time and make paying a subscription worthwhile. I also found navigating PlantApp cumbersome and not user-friendly. I have cancelled my subscription within an hour of trying the free version. BTW you can’t find out what features are included w/ea price point that’s available within PlantApp .

The second plant I scanned (twice) was incorrect

I scanned 2 plants - the first one they got it right but the second one they got it wrong so I scanned again and they still did the wrong plant.
I think the issue is they don’t have all the plants in their app that are actually in the world.
Like Cuban oregano..

It would be cool to be able to submit requests directly within PlantApp that upload the photos of the plant with its species name so it can be added to the plant directory for other users

No good

I saw this on Instagram and though I use the Picture PlantApp, I thought I would give this new one a try. PlantApp is very confusing when you download it… wanting you to rate it and pay for it without any chance to look it over- very aggressive. This should have been enough to make me delete it but I really wanted to try it out. The ID part of PlantApp was fine but the diagnosing was useless. Telling me there is insect damage and no specifics or type of treatment is ridiculous. Also the English wording is very hard to understand…since this is sold as an English app, proper vocabulary and grammar should be a must.
I canceled my 3 day free trial.

Does not work, double charge

PlantApp does not work at all. It has been wrong 100% of the time on every plant I’ve tried, whether it be indoor our outdoor. They also offer a “lifetime” price or their monthly subscription, but they charge you both and do not respond to any emails. Every positive review on here is fake. These people are using investor money for marketing and selling a fake product that is nothing more than a concept idea at the moment, and then stealing money from people hoping for PlantApp to work as advertised. These are criminals not developers.

Look elsewhere for plant care

I have a dracena plant that has not been doing well, so I thought I’d try PlantApp to properly diagnosis it since my methods weren’t working. After taking photos of my plant, PlantApp came back with 4-5 potential causes that I’d already determined via google. I, naively, thought that it would be able to give a more definitive answer than a google search. I canceled my free trial immediately via PlantApp Store.

I’m not sure if any of the plant apps provide more detailed diagnoses, but a quick google search gave me the same potential diagnoses for free.

Not for me

I’m paid for PlantApp and gave it a go … first plant I tried it identified wrong (very wrong) twice and then it got it . Second plant I tried it never found the plant or even got close and even some suggestions where just comical …

Basically you take a pic and it try’s to show you similar looking plants pictures from its archive to identify it..

Definitely still needs a lot of work but would be really cool if it started working

Rate the app before using??

It asks you to rate PlantApp as soon as you open it for the first time. So I closed out PlantApp because how can I rate PlantApp if I haven’t used it yet. When I opened it again it wanted me to rate PlantApp and could not pass the screen until I did. I would give it no star because I can’t even use PlantApp before rating. It’s like asking for a tip before you get your order or any type of service.

Buggy

Worked to scan maybe 3 plants before locking me out to pay. Search feature to add known plants to “My garden” didn’t work. Ie scanned a zinnia and it IDd correctly but claimed zinnias didn’t exist when I searched for them. I tried different capitals, number of characters, still couldn’t get any plants to pull up in the search. There should also be an option to add plants to garden from a scam, which currently does not seem to be an option

App providers refused to correct problems

I purchased app , it did perform all its functions. Emailed app they gave some guidance. Did what they requested and no luck still did work. Emailed them again and they have yet to respond it’s over week. I provided them proof that I did purchase PlantApp . Hopping Apple will direct them to refund my money!

The free trial is a scam

PlantApp doesn’t even deserve a single star, and I’d give it a negative 5 if I could.

I tried PlantApp for a couple of days then tried to cancel it, but there was literally no option for that! Followed the link for “cancel at anytime” and it only allows you to renew. It says you can’t cancel a current subscription, but then says you have to cancel more than 24hrs before renewal to stop it renewing - in other words - you need to cancel future subscriptions during the time of your current subscription…which it says you can’t do. Yes, it’s as much of a runaround as it sounds. I got a refund and cancellation through iTunes, but as a warning to anyone else who thinks of trying PlantApp: DON’T do the free trial.

It’s also terrible at identifying plants, misidentified numerous times, and once said a clearly focused macro shot of a flower, “didn’t contain a flower.”

Was charged during free trial

I was charged for a whole week during second day of free trial. Which was unexpected and unpleasant. The info about plant problems is not personalized to certain plants, just general guidance. PlantApp does not have much info, some of my home plants were not recognized correctly.

Downloaded. Opened. Deleted.

After downloading and installing PlantApp gives a quick 3-click or touch mini tour of how to use PlantApp. Last click asks to rate and review. Opted to do so later after I have tried and used PlantApp for some time. But then, there are two options to start using PlantApp : to subscribe or start a 3 day trail period, but before starting the trail period you have to confirm your subscription.
Deleted PlantApp. No longer interested and will never recommend it, unless you don’t mind all of those first annoying and absurd steps.
Dudes, just make it simple to use and tryout before asking to purchase or confirm a subscription. Cheers!

Wrong ID

I tried this on a dwarf key lime which it repeatedly incorrectly identified. I was trying to get a diagnosis and that can’t happen if it cannot ID the tree. There is no option to correct it. It repeatedly wants you to upgrade to the paid premium version. Hard to consider an upgrade when it cannot ID a common plant.

Doesn’t Do What the Ad Stated

I could find this info on Google without paying a high fee! I wish I had not gotten this and gone with another. I am contacting my bank with the original Ad in hopes of getting a refund! Nothing at all like you stated! False advertising! Is not helping me with my plants at all! Google yourselves and save your $!!!

Don’t waste your time downloading

This is as of June 2023. I downloaded this Apple recommended app to identify some vines and flowers in my yard. I took a grand total of 4 pictures before I was locked out of PlantApp . There is no warning on PlantApp that free users only get a certain amount of pictures and there are very annoying pop ups throughout PlantApp for their subscription. For the record a weekly subscription is $7 and a “lifetime” one is $150 or $50 depending on if there is a “sale”. All I wanted was a free app to identify plants. Instead I got frustration and far more information than I needed besides a simple identification. I hate apps like this that waste my time and memory space on my phone. Less than 24 hours later and instantly deleted.

Miss identified the same tree three times in a row

I took three pictures of the same tree, and every time the result came back with something different, but it was inn accurate every time. granted, I did the three day free trial, which turns out it’s only a three picture limit trial because once you photograph three plants it will not let you continue unless you pay for it so they can’t actually call that a three day free trial. PlantApp needs a lot of work and it’s not worth paying for in its current state.

Does NOT work!!!!

Do NOT waste your money or time on PlantApp! I purchased it to help me identify the different varietals of basil coming up in my garden as I have volunteers from seasons past. It could not even identify a basil as a basil let alone the different varietals. I tested it out on some of my other garden plants and again the generalization of PlantApp is so broad that it could not properly identify the plants. Seems they have a very long way to go before they can market themselves as a true plant identifier app!!!

Honestly 2/10 bare bones app

At most PlantApp is extremely bare bones even with it’s subscription model.

Pros:

It does offer a “lifetime” (one time payment) membership as well as a monthly, water calculator, and reminders for watering/misting/fertilizing/rotating.

Cons:

Most features are locked behind a paywall including diagnosis/light meter/plant ID/toxicity info and more, while some aspects are advertised as “free” within PlantApp they actually aren’t and clicking them brings you to the subscription screen where you are offered a “free trail” however no where outside of this screen does it say “Try for free” or “free trial”, It does not offer site locations, all temperature calculations are only available in celsius (this wouldn’t be a big deal if you could switch to fahrenheit, however there is nowhere in PlantApp to switch), there is no location tracking so no truly accurate temperature estimations, aside from creating a name for a plant you can not add your own photo (so no personalized plant profiles), and there is no ability to create your own personalized profile.

All in all, while it’s a great idea in theory and one of the few plant apps which offers a one-time payment, compared to others in the same field it’s honestly barebones and locks most features that would make it even at minimum worth keeping behind a paywall.

Inconsistent?

Downloaded app today. Was only able to take 2 pictures before it shut me out for 12 hours. 1st photo was of one branch of a Very large Douglas Fir tree, PlantApp gave me the correct answer. The 2nd photo was of the entire tree from a little further away. PlantApp told me it was a Serbian Spruce, which it isn’t. The developers need to allow increased opportunity to test PlantApp without waiting 12 hours before I would want to purchase it.

Can’t add plants

If you have a plant that isn’t in their database yet, guess what? YOU CAN’T ADD IT. I have a tradescantia albiflora and cannot add it. The only plant that came close to it is another variety of white inch that has a very different scientific name. Poorly thought-out UX/UI that doesn’t allow the addition of plants. And poorly thought-out UX that also doesn’t allow for personal plant names. You can edit the common name but you can’t add the personal names you’ve given your plants. I have 40-odd plants, and each and every one has a name aside from their scientific names and common names.

My experience could be human error. Good concept.

I didn’t have a good experience with PlantApp. It kept insisting I had a certain flower.

However… this is a great concept, intuitive design, I can’t wait when the AI is a bit more trained.

Try PlantApp out and see if it works for you!

Needs diagnosis improvement

Neat for identification (could just be using the free version) but all it gives me, for multiple plants, is abiotic disease. Underneath it gives multiple examples but only pictures for maybe one of them. Maybe put in pictures for all of them or add in a user forum for community help.

Ehh

Was helpful in identifying random weeds and grass, could identify my garden plants, but gave very general fixes. Issue is water- too much or too little… thaaaaaanks… my cucumber plant is thriving and it said there were about 10 possible issues based on the photos. Too much light- not enough, too much water, not enough, possible mold, possible sickness etc, but no definitive answers and it’s doing fine and after trying 10x could not identify marijuana sprout , kept saying it was some sort of citrus or false indigo.

Not enough info and not 100% accurate

I had the identify a hibiscus plant. It identified it as something that looks more like a snake plant.
I had PlantApp diagnose the spots on another plant and arrived at “Fungi.” Yes, I know it is fungi but I expected to get the type of fungi. It had 3 good samples.
On the Papaya, it identified it and diagnosed it correctly.
Conclusion: I don't expect for it to be infallible, but these are not rare plants. I’ll try it at another time but for now I’ll continue the time consuming effort of diagnosis through research.

Just downloaded

We’ll I just downloaded PlantApp it said it was free although PlantApp talks about free 3 day trial then it is $6.99 a week… not into that. From what I saw it looks like a good app but still seems deceptive?
I’ll be deleting PlantApp

I love this app!

I have tried multiple apps and they all ended in failure. This one was so helpful and informing. I only with that it could have a feature to tell what diseases your plants have. Other wise I am very satisfied with PlantApp. It also has a 12 photo per like 24 hours, or you need to pay. Which is a little annoying, but I have a small plant collection. I enjoy PlantApp a lot and am happy with the results. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy.

App charges

Thanks for the overcharge if 7.59 per week. It defaults to no receipt. How convenient. I have been unaware of the charges for the last mont. nice. No refunds on an app that I haven’t used. Oh an I had to put in 5 stars. You cannot send one star as it won’t send. Wow just wow

Love it

I’m loving PlantApp as it’s been giving me the names of plants that I wasn’t sure what they were.

I love this!

I love being able to take a picture of my plants, at anytime, and find the correct means of care! And so far, I’ve had no other ads pop up!

Newbie friendly!

And free to scan your plant unlike other apps

Useful

As a new pet owner being able to use PlantApp to identify plants for toxic to animals

Planted in my heart💗🌱

My hubby was using this to help me identify a lot of fruit trees that I wasn’t sure what kind of fruit they were. And what can I say; it GREW on me… teehee😁🥰 so I have downloaded it for myself and I’m gonna put it to the test. I’m excited and will let ya know the ins and out, and maybe what would be nice to have!👍🏻

Love

Helps me understand what plants I have in my house because some I brought because they are pretty but can be toxic to my dogs. Now that I know this I can handle them properly.

Love this app!

My favorite app! This supplies the information I need that used to take
a very long time to find. Because of Blossom, I have saved every plant I searched for on PlantApp! THANKS BLOSSOM!

Don’t let your dad get it back

School is not working properly properly

Great use of technology

So far seems to be accurate, usually go straight to google after

Great for the plant lover

PlantApp has been very helpful identifying plants that I’ve had for years, but did not know the name or origin of

Excellent App

Using technology like this amazing app to support the Most High Ahayah’s divine creation. Our Founding Father Thomas Jefferson was a farmer in Virginia and prophesied: “The hemp plant will be beneficial for the health of the nation-not tobacco.” CBD oil from the hemp plant at 1,000 mg daily sublingual has been shown in a 2022 China study to kill bone cancer (osteosarcoma) in canines and humans. Whole spectrum CBD oil kills cancer. No surgery, radiation, or poisons. God bless green plants!

Replaced

I have a friend I met in grammar school 60~some years ago. She and her mother are both plant people. In the early days there was entirely too much information. When I got PlantApp I told my friend about it and let her know that she was replaced by my phone app. At least I can turn my phone off when I want.

Great App

Thank you for helping me destroying my wife’s plants. I now know what to do in caring for her “Babies”. I can go out and buy plants with more confidence. Thank you sooooo much.
