Fixed!

Edited to update:
So after the most recent update, I decided to re-download. I had to wait and work myself up past where I was previously before I updated this review. But as of right now, everything is running great! You could fly through each episode but I’ve taken my time to complete all (if not, most) of the challenges in each episode and it’s helped collect a decent amount of cards that are typically hard to get. The Events help in this aspect as well so as long as they keep those coming, I shouldn’t have an issue. Changed my review from 2 to 5 stars. Shoutout to the devs for listening and reading these reviews!

Big sad! Die hard fan of The Office, so naturally I had to download this game. Unfortunately, every time I get to episode 8 or 9, the game doesn’t let me log back in 😔Once the game starts to load, the ‘download assets’ screen will pop up. I’ll hit ‘download’ and either the game will just force close or the ‘download assets’ will hit 100%, go away, and then pop back up asking me to ‘download’ again. I’ve wanted this game to work so bad that I’ve completely deleted it on 4 separate occasions and had to repeat all of my progress just for this bug/glitch to happen again. I’ve even tried turning off my wifi and using data but to no avail. If not for this issue, I’d definitely give it 5 stars. I’ll probably just delete it indefinitely for now and maybe if I come back in a few months and it works then I can change this to 5 stars.

Seriously my favorite game ever! I’m obsessed.

Always been a huge office fan and I love idle games as I’m a stay at home mom and sometimes it’s about the only way I can get a little break and be entertained without having to use much mental energy 😂
I’ve been playing for a couple months now and honestly spending WAY too much money on a game when I’ve agreed NOT to spend money on games so we can save 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I get so into this game and want to get ahead faster to reach more chapters! It’s a terrible habit BUT, the game really is THAT good. I’ve had a few bugs here in there with my purchase rewards disappearing and game time not saving. It’s anew game so, they’re still working out the kinks. Normally, that’d be IT for me playing a game or at the very least I’d never trust them to spend money again. But, I also think that the customer service team for this game is just wonderful and efficient. Every single time I have had an issue that I reported, I had a response within 1-2 business days and they typically had my issue resolved by 1 or 2 messages! *tip- if you do have an issue- take a screenshot of your user I’d found on the settings page and send that in with your initial issue report. Sometimes that information alone is all they need to come to a resolution!
And since the new update, I haven’t had this issue once!

So yes- absolutely amazing game and about the only app I’ve ever taken this much time to review when I wasn’t even prompted. 🙌🙌

Update: much better!

Update: the devs clearly are listening to complaints and working to make the game better! I’ve gotten tons of decor cards recently and now I’m back to being able to automate most of my desks! It’s the most helpful that they added decor cards to the store, because I’m able to buy up the ones I need to catch up on all the cards that didn’t drop for me earlier. Now this is easily a 5 star game. I love that I get progress even when I’m not playing and I really love getting to relive some of the funniest The Office moments!

I should love this game. I love the office and idle games are perfect for how busy I am. But it’s not really an idle game if I can’t automate any of the workers, is it?? All of my decor is too low level to automate anyone and I never get any decor cards, so in order to make any money I have to keep the game open and keep tapping everyone’s desks (since many of my workers are upgraded to the point that they earn more money in seconds). I’ve read the help file on how to earn more cards so don’t tell me how to earn them. I earn cards, but none of them are decor cards. You shouldn’t advertise this as an idle game if you require players to spend tons of time paying attention to it. Also, the event button overlaps with the money piles at the desks, so half the time I’m trying to collect money I end up jumping into the event on accident and having to wait for two loading screens just to collect some cash.

Great game for Office fans.

I love that this game still operates passively and I think there’s a lot they got right. I don’t fully agree with the complaints that it gets too hard too quick. I’m on episode where Jim told Michael that he once liked Pam. This game is meant to play a few times a day where you check in, spend your stuff, collect your baskets and leave. The events are really nice and I like that they only last a couple days. I think the prices you have for real money are astronomically high compared to other games i’ve played. On top of that there are ginormous gaps in the value of different characters. Other tapper games i’ve played don’t seem nearly as huge. It’s to the point of after the 3rd or 4th worker, your first is completely pointless in buying leads unless you upgrade them at least 3 times. That’s stuff with the cash upgrades being so high feels like a cash grab attempt. I think there should perks you can buy for a couple dollars like spend $2 and ryan comes in a increases your money for 24 hours or jan gives training to decrease leads cost for a time, vending machine options to give bonuses or mini games cause a lot of the show happened in the break room. There also needs to have some sort of conference room event that happens in between the 2 day events. I also would like to see other animations in the special events besides them just on a computer.

Some annoyances

It’s a stereotypical idle clicker with the added bonus of some of the scenes from the actual show each time you complete a stage. The annoyances come in at the pay to win stage. Every so often there will be events to partake in. If you progress far enough you will be rewarded with in game currency to then later use in the main game. This incentivizes the player to either spend cash to boost productivity or to watch ads to boost productivity. This is where the first annoyance comes into play.
The first issue comes with the ads. Each one has a progress bar so you know how much time is left per ad. The problem is some of the ads wont register if you don’t click on them, even though the progress bar is complete. The other problem with ads is that after going through one, sometimes it doesn’t register and you don’t get the bonus for it.
The second, and most egregious issue is that some of the events don’t work. Each one runs roughly for 3 days and at the end you’ll be rewarded with in game currency and upgrade cards. For a few events now, mainly the office Olympics ones, upon completion I haven’t been given any of the rewards or if I did, they were different character cards than listed. It has happened enough to make me uninstall the game.
If you’re a super fan of the office and can push pay the annoyances, you’ll enjoy the references but that’s about it. Otherwise it’s something you’ll play for a day or two and get frustrated with then delete it.

Save your time, AND sanity

Played for a couple weeks and now the game is refusing to open and crashes when trying to download assets, like 5 times. It downloads the asset, then says I need more then crashes. This game has become unplayable. There are so many saving failures within the game. You move into the next level, win your Scottcoins, and then it refuses to load the next episode. So you have to restart TheOffice . It then moves onto the next chapter but doesn’t give you any rewards. This has happened multiple times. The events are trash and are not even GUARANTEED the rewards you actually win. I got up to 13/15 rewards for the last event, Pretzel Day, and it just ended, and I’m not allowed to get my rewards. It’s immediately trying to get ready for a new event. This game is a waste of time and your mental health. Do not download. If you have this game, I suggest deleting it to save your mental sanity Too many times does this game not save your progress and forces you to restart from the last opening, which could delete a lot of progress, especially the events. Reporting bugs and issues is horrible and never get solved. This is a TRASH APP.
They’ve claimed to fix the events but this latest one had erased progress 4 times, and all four I made a lot. This company is trash, DOESNT CARE ABOUT IT CUSTOMERS, never responds to complaints and honestly deserves to go bankrupt and have every employee blackballed from working in the computer science field

I was wrong the first time

I reviewed this game a while back saying it was really grindy and took a lot of time to achieve anything after the 1st few episodes. But that was before I played the events they added to the game. The events are similar to the main game but they are temporary, faster, and you have goals you need to reach as well. With each goal you get coffee, Scott Coins, or character/decor cards that can be used in the main game. This changed everything because now you can speed up playing the main game by getting all the resources you need from the events. If I put any money into the game or spend any Scott coins it’s on the events because the payouts you get from completing the events are greater than anything you buy in the base game. My only complaint I have are about prices for the game. A lot of the temporary packages/deals you can buy are greater than $5-10. The most I would like to spend on a mobile game at a time is $10. So if there were more cheaper packages I would consider buying more them. Paying almost $30 for a package that only really speeds you up a few hours seems way to steep for me. But considering you can play the game without spending a dime it doesn’t affect me too much. Overall it’s a great game with good gameplay as long as you start playing the events.

Disappointed w/ new update

4 stars for the game overall/ 2 stars for the update

Overall I like the game a lot. If you like the show you will probably enjoy the game. The events are fun, but can be a fast money drain if you’re not careful. To be clear, you don’t have to spend a penny. But if you want to get through all the event milestones and have a chance to win exclusive prizes, you will most likely have to spend real money. I’m willing to spend some of my extra money on this game, but beware the offers usually come fast and often during events and can add up quickly. Again, they are totally optional, but sometimes they are hard to turn down.

What actually made me write a review though is the update that was released yesterday. Still love the game and the new event is fun. But in the update summary here on TheOffice Store it says it includes new episodes for the main storyline. I have been waiting to start a new episode because it is getting harder and harder to do enough decor upgrades to fulfill requirements. I’ve already gone through The Initiation, Pt. 2, three times I think and was intentionally waiting until new episodes were released to finish it again. So today, thinking there were new episodes available I completed it. To my disappointment, The Initiation, pt. 2 started over again. So if there are in fact new episodes available, there must be a bug or something.

2 stars for effort… deleted the app for execution

I really loved the game for a minute. At one point though it just completely froze on me, so I deleted it and re-downloaded it. I had to completely start over in the game. It’s always been pretty buggy, but lately MUCH more so. On the regular game at the bottom there were these weird shadow things instead of the people. Now, more times than I can count, I will play to a certain part and then come back to it later and random amounts of my progress is just gone so I have to go back and try to redo what I’d already done earlier. It can be really hard to get what you need to progress in the event ones. For example, I need to automate a character. Well, you have to upgrade them to level 5, let’s say. Well HOURS can go by before you are even able to try and buy what you need, so you are stuck, and don’t make progress in the collect certain amounts of money for certain prizes. I didn’t get the prizes I spent a lot of Scott coins on in an event. I submitted a ticket.. no response whatsoever. I just got so tired of losing progress and it being so buggy. (This is definitely not everything, but just some of the problems) it was so time consuming trying to redo stuff that I was kind of obsessed with trying to get it back and progress. I finally deleted TheOffice today and won’t go back unless there’s a MAJOR fix in this game, but I don’t see that happening. I’ll find something else

Enjoy the game but the events..

I really enjoy this game, it’s great for mindless fun that I don’t have to get too engaged it or pay too much attention. The only issue is the glitches specifically the events. About every other event I try to play will randomly stop tracking my prizes, when I click the button the prize are all gray even if I have completed several there won’t be a check mark, I’ve come to find that when this happens no matter how many prizes I unlock in the event, they won’t show up on the main game and I will not get them when the event is over. I have tried reaching out to support and they did get back and reward the prizes I missed from the event however this issue keeps recurring. I do close entirely out of TheOffice every time I use it because I read that keeping it open or running in the background can cause it to glitch. I love TheOffice and it’s very fun and I enjoy the new events, I just haven’t been able to play much because it so randomly stops logging and I’m unsure how to fix it. I don’t want to waste 3 days playing an event that I will not receive prizes for yet again 🙃

The main game is very fun and I’m glad they updated to give more decor items in the shop but I’m now finding it hard to buy desk cards and the shop is almost entirely decor items for me now.

Really enjoy game, but no tech support for issue

Pros: The game is a casual play love letter to one of my favorite shows. So fun to see episodes in this format. Each completed task rewards a snippet of the episode. I appreciate the free rewards issues every 2 hrs. As others have said, taking my time and focusing on completing all tasks before finishing the chapter leads to a better experience long term. Con: No in-game support option! When I recently tried loading my game, I got to about 50% and was prompted to “download assets”. No problem, I thought. This happens for new chapters, etc. HOWEVER, the download button has been UNRESPONSIVE for two days. I’ve tried reloading my game and deleting and reinstalling, but I cannot activate the download to start playing my game again. To add to frustration, I cannot contact support. I’ve gone to the support page (via TheOffice Store) but this isn’t not included in the “known issues”. Since I needed to contact someone, I tried to do so by trying to click the button on the page where it specifically offers support only to be unable to do so. The “Need help? SUBMIT REQUEST” button is UNRESPONSIVE and I cannot submit a request for help. Ugh! This is quite disappointing. How can I let anyone know there is an issue if I can’t contact them?

Like many other complaints…

Edit after most recent update: episodes reset and you lose all progress made and have to start the episode over brand new like you’ve not even begun it yet. Still having issues with ads-watch ads to get time added-time added then disappears like you never watched an ad. This may have to do with the same issue of levels resetting completely.

Edit: Issues below were fixed for a little while until this most recent update(see above). After TheOffice update, app has more issues than before. App is still resetting progress, erasing hours of game play. Also, watch ads to double cash until maxed and next time you open TheOffice , it’s back to the yellow box like you never watched any ads for double cash. So, have to watch ads over and over again because the time doesn’t stay there. Also, some ads come up with a black screen and have to restart app to get out of it. Go back in app, progress has been erased again and have to rewatch ad for coffee/etc. Can’t get anything done because any time TheOffice closes or restarts, any recent progress you made gets erased and you have to re-do hours worth of collecting and upgrading all over again. Very annoying, especially for the timed events. I might actually finish one some day, if it wasn’t for my progress getting erased every time TheOffice closes. This is a big issue that should have already been addressed since there are so many other complaints about it.

Worse and worse.

This game is good in theory. The issue is their support team doesn’t provide ….. support. I had a game that was well into level 16 and it stopped loading - just went to a grey screen, at the time I figured just reinstalling the game would be a good troubleshooting step since forcing it closed and reopening it wasn’t working either. So I did. I reloaded it and to my dismay it didn’t save the progress. Keep in mind this was the only device I am using it on, I wasn’t trying to move my account between different devices. Much to my dismay I went to their support page and there wasn’t a lot on the issue I had, so I emailed support and of course I couldn’t provide my game ID because well who knew I would lose my progress. So there I was stuck starting over, a week later no response from their customer service team. So I gave in. I figured ok, just a game, no love lost, didn’t sink money into it or anything so, I’ll just start over. So I got to level 10 again and today there was an update. After updating it, the game won’t load at all. Goes into the loading screen and goes to a grey screen. I learned my lesson last time, so no attempting to reinstall it, and forcing it closed and rebooting my device did not resolve the issue. Since this is a timed game with timed events, this is pretty sad. I love the office, but this game has some pretty unacceptable bugs. Again, I know it’s new and that happens, but to be given the cold shoulder by support. That’s not acceptable.

Great,but needs improving.

I’ll start off with what I love about the game. I love that you can progress kinda quickly at the start of the game, for example I unlocked Angela on the same day I got the game. I also loved that you could put things from the show on the desks! I screamed out loud when I saw the jello on Dwight’s desk. the thing is that after a little bit it got repetitive. I would suggest a costumes for the characters like a Scranton strangler Dwight or a golden face Jim. I think that if you added cutscenes for the first time you unlocked those skins that would really make the game interesting. Just imagine seeing golden face Jim seating at a desk. I also think mini games every once in a while would be great . Imagine how great it would be to have a random mini game every hour with rewards! There is only one other problem and that is after day seven the game became broken with the requirements for a quest went from billions to trillions so I just ask if you could please make it a little less frustrating , but I do think that the game should get harder but not that much of a difference.

By

It looks great but needs more work

Like the title say, the game looks great. I love all of the effort that went into the artwork and into making the characters look like cartoony versions of the actors from the show, and I like the little dialogue interactions between the characters that are pretty much scenes directly from the episodes. It’s fun. That’s literally all there is too it though.
The game is super buggy. There are times when I’ll watch an AD for a bonus and it won’t work, or I’ll have to restart the game several times to make visual glitches disappear. There isn’t a lot to do in the game. All you do is level up a couple things before you can’t do anything anymore (without spending money, of course), so if you’re not up for spending way too much of your hard earned cash on a this game, you’re looking at about 5-10 minutes of gameplay a day, maybe 10 more minutes if you check back often. This isn’t normal for an idle game, in fact it’s incredibly low. Other idle games have lots of side stuff for you to do to build up resources and add onto gameplay time. A good idle game will allow as little as 10 minutes but as much as even an hour or more per day but this game just has no content.
If you love The Office, skip the game and just rewatch all the whole series for the 4th time.

Good idea, poor customer service

I had really enjoyed this game until the last two weeks. I had several instances where the main game and special events had reset my progress, so I had to completely start the “episodes” over. It was frustrating on the main game, but not a deal breaker since there is no time limit. On the special events (which are otherwise enjoyable, being based on Updog, Pretzel Day and similar side stories) there is a time limit, so having everything reset basically means you can’t come close to getting any of the rewards.
I assumed Michael would have IT fix it for me, but it was the opposite. I have contacted them 4 times in two weeks, with the only response being an automated response saying they received my issue. The response since has been crickets. I even considered driving to David Wallace’s house, but who has time for that?
Due to this, I have officially quit the game. Good news: I have freed up several hours to be more productive at my real job. Bad news: my only source for my Scranton fix is rewatching episodes when I should be sleeping.
Recommendation: fix the bugs, rehire the IT guy Michael hates to keep it bug free, and focus the thousands of dollars I earned you with the nonstop ads and purchase requests to have someone respond to issues.
Love, a big fan of the show and perpetually-soured hater of an almost ok game.

Fun But Frustrating

This game is really fun for an idle tap game—I think the fact that it’s The Office is really what makes me enjoy it. I play every day and I especially love playing in the “events” to earn things for the main game.

I’ve definitely seen a decline in how the game operates since first playing it, and I hoped it was just a bug that would be fixed but it seems to either be more than that or the creators just don’t care enough to fix it. When I first played, everything in the game ran smoothly. Lately though, my progress backtracks a LOT, completely randomly and with no warning. At first, event milestones that I had completed weren’t showing up as completed and I didn’t get the earnings for those. Eventually, on top of the milestones not paying out, the game will set me backwards VERY frequently. For example, I’ll get three desks started, upgraded, with hundreds of leads and then the next time I open TheOffice it has put me back at one desk, or it has taken away my most recent upgrades. Setting me backwards happens in both the events and the main game.

This has been happening now for so long that I think I’m at my wits end with this game and just want to delete it. I’ll wait to see if an update comes out in hopes that it’ll be fixed, but I don’t think that’s likely. Don’t waste your time on it like I have been.

Bots?

It’s the second time I’ve started this game. I took a break a few months ago and couldn’t remember why. After reinstalling it, I quickly remembered it’s the ads. So many ads. But okay, I put up with it cause generally it’s fun. But I’m noticing something much different about the events. I know to get in the top 3 you either need to play all day or purchase stuff. However, the last two mornings in a row (of a 3 day event), I’ve woken up to being displaced from a top 3 spot to the 5th or 6th spot by people with outrageous scores who weren’t even there before. It doesn’t mathematically add up for me. If I have 500av after 2 days of playing, and in an hour, a new person comes on with 800ax, but they’ve never been on the leaderboard before, how does that work? It’s happened two days in a row. I see the same user names around me who have similar scores and we fight it out and switch places throughout the day. But now it’s like there is no hope of ever winning an event bc of these massive differences. Unless the 800ax folks are purchasing hundreds of dollars in stuff on this game, I’m not really sure how they could get that high that quickly. So, to save my bank account and my sanity, permanently deleting this game full of annoying ads and either insanely competitive players or bots. I love the office, but there are better idle games.

A Little Too Hard (that’s what she said)

I loved this game during the first few episodes. It was breezy and simple and not very difficult to pass the challenges. However, after the first two episodes all the challenges became considerably harder and now I’m spending days at a time just waiting to get enough cash to buy enough leads to get three extra coffees. I think the coffees are much too hard to get and maybe if we got thirty by watching an add instead of 15 or ten by getting enough leads instead of three, then this game would be much more active and fun to play since most everything relies on getting or spending coffee cards.
I also think it’s slightly ridiculous how fast the prices of leads ramp up which causes more waiting which would be fine if I could animate all the characters, but I’m constantly having to get more upgrades- using more coffee- to do so. It seems a little like I’m being forced to spend money on coffee and scottcoins which is super petty and really disappointing.

Despite all that, I do love this game. I love all the references to each episode and the characters are animated beautifully. It is the first game I’ve found in a while that I actually enjoy. I just wish I could enjoy it more without having to wait all day to do anything.

If you like replaying the same thing over and over this game is for you

I wanted to like this game. The animations are fun and follow the show. Despite my frustrations with the levels constantly resetting in mid game play I played through several episodes until I got to a point where Pam had to be upgraded to level 5 in order to finish the steps required to move on. There was no way to upgrade her without spending god knows how much money because her cards never came up to purchase with Scott coins and were hardly ever rewarded. So I uninstalled and reinstalled tried playing through where I would finish ever single card in an episode and get character cards with Scott coins any chance I could when they came up in the shop tab. It was going fine, took longer to complete episodes, but whatever.

However, I have given up. I have now replayed the same 5 parts of an episode more than six times. I’ll spend 15-20 minutes playing between the main and bonus episodes. Go on about my day. Come back a few hours later and everything I’ve done is gone and has to be replayed. On the main level, fine whatever, maybe one of these times it will stick. But when you’re playing the timed bonus episodes and keep getting thrown backwards it’s a complete waste of time. Game has now been uninstalled.

Good game but needs more incentives.

Fun to compete in the limited time events. I don't mind watching a 30 second ad to get extra donuts/flashdrives, my only complaint is that there's not much to build up to. I think if there was a reward for building up an empire, for example decorating or upgrading the office with the billions and trillions and quadrillions of dollars you make on this game, it would be nice if there was an incentive to do so other than competing against other players although that is a cool feature. It would be cool if the developers could fit something into their budget rewarding players for playing buy offering the occasional coupon or gift card. Also event items should AT LEAST be half price since nothing that you spend on is permanent in comparison to your own single player campaign. Good game though it's addicting so beware. I just wish it was easier to automate your characters so you don't have to check in every time except for the event items like donuts/flash drives that obviously makes sense that the people who watch the most ads get rewarded in that way.

Pay to win events

The game is fun. But I do not like that the events are pay to win. Unless you purchase the character cards, you’ll never receive them just by playing the game. You won’t be able to upgrade the character, the characters desk, or speed the time they generate sales. It makes the event aspect of the game unappealing. You should really think about updating the algorithm for how often you receive the important characters cards, or stop making the events pay to win

Update #1 upgrading is not the issue. Making the events pay to win in order to get the cards you need to upgrade is the issues that I’m speaking about. I’m events, if you do not pay for the x1.2 currency x35 character cards and another x35 character cards. You will not gain them rapidly enough to remain in the competition for the event. You have to spend way too much money on this game. Sadly, I’m going to have to delete it

Update #2 there’s way too many fake people that jumpy to the front of the leaderboard out of nowhere and are all of a sudden ahead wide margin. The events are pointless. The regular episodes are useless. If you finish too early you won’t get all boxes and you leave so much behind. But if you play the game out it takes forever. Good idea, terrible execution

Fun but never works

I’ve had this game for a year I couple weeks ago deleted it to see if maybe that would fix the bug problem but no and I don’t recommend deleting it if you want to keep your progress, I lost all my progress all of it so I had to start from scratch. The only reason I keep this game is because of the events but lately I can’t even join any of the events. Why I’ll tell you why because every single time, I click on the little event tab that takes you to the event it reboots or reloads even when I’m on Wi-Fi and I have all the bars I stop so many tickets because none of them were ever answered. I like this game but I’m really disappointed it bugs out even on the main game nine out of 10 times you will be booted off the game and it takes forever to load the game and it’s literally a cycle of reboot play for two minutes reboot again play for two minutes reload looks like your internets like Stanley or something along those lines, so I don’t know I really liked this game, but after a certain point the main levels are way too hard to progress on and it takes months to complete one episode. The events are fun. I loved the events when I could participate in them now I keep getting kicked out and rebooted which takes forever and multiple reboots to the point where after 20 minutes of trying to get into the event I give up

First Time Ever Reviewing An App

It takes quite a bit to get me to do this . I’ve given TheOffice chance, after chance to at the very least say “hey man we still haven’t fixed the issue, please don’t try to purchase anything because you’ll never get it. We’re working on the issue.” . Fair enough. How about while this is going on, not allow in store purchases that may or may not work. I hate to be the guy complaining but I know I’ve given these developers over a thousand dollars at the very least . It means zero to this team . They’ve gotten so seemingly annoyed that they just simply stop responding and wait for the next time are dumb enough to try for more . For two months I’ve reluctantly tried to play this game , which I’m not going to lie , I really enjoyed. It was a great stress relief. For two months, maybe three. I haven’t made it more than a minute in before it crashes. And it’s not just me . I’m lost . There’s a good bit of money to be had , why isn’t anyone at the very least willing to try to fix this broken game. Until proven otherwise, unfortunately this game is now a money grab.
I’m giving a three because someone there has at least answered me in the last 2 years, and I love the game , to the point I’ve spent money I work for … but

It becomes too much when I’m giving money , receiving what I buy for about a minute, then game crashes every time without fail, annnnd purchase never existed , do it again .
