Needs Some Work

I’m writing this review not to slander GNVRideRTS however there are some serious issues, currently, GNVRideRTS isn’t loading and says there’s a weak connection weather or not I’m connected to internet or I have really good service. Prior to this issue the interface of GNVRideRTS has some issues such as navigation of GNVRideRTS as well as the way you look up routes, and the accuracy of where the busses are located in the real-time map. Many users may find it difficult to look up their routes if they don’t have prior knowledge of how the bus routes work with inbound and outbound routes. Having to search for the route you need to take can pose some problems if the user doesn’t know what routes are needed, when RTS Gainesville used translock you were able to see all the bus routes in the area you are in which I feel would be a good addition to GNVRideRTS and would counter the issues all except the real-time map which I feel is a GPS to app issue. If the developers were to fix the bug that is stopping bc GNVRideRTS from loading and fixed the main points GNVRideRTS would be well on its way to being an easy-to use app that everyone could benefit from using.

Why did they change apps?!

I thought TransLoc was a perfectly fine app, but then it stopped working for me because GNVRideRTS was meant to replace it. The problem is this one is way worse!!! The trackers on the map are laggy and they disappear if they go “off-route” so with all the construction on campus half the time I can’t even see my bus until it leaves the reitz and by then it’s too late to catch it. Also GNVRideRTS itself is way less user friendly because you have to know the route numbers in order for it to show up on the map instead of being able to pick ones around where you are. The worst thing is that sometimes GNVRideRTS won’t even load, and at one point it lasted for days in a row so I had no idea when the bus would come. I sent RTS an email with all these complaints so I hope they either fix it or go back to TransLoc

If the old RTS app still works for you, use that instead!

Unfortunately I had to get GNVRideRTS because the old RTS app stopped tracking the 122 even though it still runs. But seriously GNVRideRTS is horrid. While this one tracks 1 out of 2 of the buses on the 122 line, you can’t actually use GNVRideRTS to get any information on the schedule. If by some miracle you accidentally get it to pull up a schedule for the route, the times listed are typically off by about 20 minutes. You also already have to have the bus route memorized in order to maybe use GNVRideRTS, seeing as you can only click on one line at a time and it then will only show you one bus about 3 minutes out so there’s no way to plan ahead. I live about 2 miles away from campus and have opted to walk to and from class rather than use this monstrosity for the past 2 weeks.

App has no reason to exist

Idk what happened to the old app, but this one is just a worse version of it. Worse UI, worse GPS, etc. The idea to link you directly to the RTS schedules is nice, but the implementation of almost everything in GNVRideRTS is rough and needs a second look. As someone who sometimes gets the very first bus in the morning I also wish you could see where the bus is before it gets to its first stop. There’s nothing worse than sitting at the bus stop unsure of if you missed the bus or not because GNVRideRTS never shows where the bus is before, and sometimes even after they start their route busses just disappear. This is also a 1 star review for the bus system as well. Busses are almost never on time. Sometimes way late, others just early enough that you miss it. Some consistency would be nice.

Horrible App, KEEPS CRASHING AND NEVER WORKS

I sadly had to get GNVRideRTS because the old app, TransLoc, stopped showing buses and times. Nevertheless, I never seen an app work so terribly as this one. It never loads, not matter if you have a good connection to the internet or not, is just does not work. When it miraculously starts working, it will only open for 10 minutes max. Bus schedules are off, GNVRideRTS is hard tj read, and sometimes it will still not show all the buses working.
For the past week and a half, is been a pain in the neck… I really hope they fix all these problems soon or hopefully they decide to use TransLoc again because is ten thousand times better than this trashy app.

Just Bad

TransLoc was a MUCH better app than this (which isn’t even an app, just a clone of their equally bad website). The user interface is atrocious - why should I need to know the name of a route before looking it up? You should be able to discover routes just by looking at the map.

On the surface, it just seems like little thought went into how people actually want to use GNVRideRTS . The only thing than TransLoc was missing were the detour routes. This “app” adds the detour routes, but falters in every other aspect. Maybe the future is brighter, but based on what’s currently here it looks like as little effort as possible was put into this so I don’t expect much.

where in the world is all the funding going

shortage of staff with a monstrosity of an app that doesn’t do crap. my cat could predict the bus times, routes, and schedules better than this. instead of buying new buses they need to give a pay raise initiative to actually get people to want to drive buses. with all the crackheads on the bus they deserve to be payed more and GNVRideRTS doesn’t make it any better for everyone else. Tips for anyone reading this review: if you count to 10 while spinning around before leaving to where you’re going point to any direction and start walking and you’ll get there better than with any sort of guidance GNVRideRTS can give.

Deserves NEGATIVE Stars

- Never loads when i’m at a bus stop.
- Inaccurate routes
- Inaccurate stops
- Inaccurate schedules
Countless times GNVRideRTS has gotten me more lost than I already was on campus by leading me to the wrong bus stops and randomly freezing up. As if navigating Gainesville wasn’t already difficult, GNVRideRTS makes things even more complicated. GNVRideRTS has made me late to class and sometimes miss classes altogether. I’ll get on a bus that projects a route I need on GNVRideRTS , and it will TAKE ME IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. Sometimes I have to spend the entire day just trying to find my way back home with this horrible app.

We can do so much better

The user interface is so archaic, GNVRideRTS should be built for phones not for windows 96. In many ways the trans loc app was better in this regard. It’s 2022, the technology and brilliant minds we have at our disposal are limitless, are we supposed to accept this? If you’re having trouble with money maybe build more housing to tax more people, tax richer ppl or reallocate funds I am so confused what the problem is maybe lack of political will?? If an app is too hard at least have maps of the routes at the station. I love RTS and I know it can be so much more, please someone do something.

Was this even tested before publishing?

I rarely ever write reviews for anything, but today I feel particularly compelled to do so just to bring GNVRideRTS’s rating down. The old TransLoc app wasn’t perfect, but it did a good job at showing you routes nearby and even had a decently accurate schedule. With this new app, it’s a gamble every time I try to take the bus to school. Will GNVRideRTS crash? Will the servers be down? Will the schedule be horribly off? All of the above? You never know with GNVRideRTS. Sometimes I wonder if this was tested even once before being published on GNVRideRTS store.

Somehow even worse than transloc

I don’t know how they managed it, but this is even worse than when they used transloc. You now longer can see your position on the map, nor does GNVRideRTS display local routes: none of the convenience functions work anymore. It’s impossible for someone who is new to the bus routes to find their way around Gainesville without preemptively knowing which routes go where. Absolutely hate this new app.

Honestly, it feels like something straight out of early 2000’s user interface: terrible!!!!!

I take everything bad I said about Transloc back

Although Rider was the ideal app and transloc was definitely a downgrade, they somehow made the follow-up even worse. The user interface is just /bad/. It looks like it was designed by a freshman. Nothing is aligned properly, the buttons are awkward and clunky, and the map view, which is what everyone wants to see, is initially hidden from view. It doesn't seem like a lot of thought went into GNVRideRTS, but since Transloc doesn't work anymore students have no choice but to use this.

The Worst

INFURIATING to use. Slow. Horrible horrible horrible interface. Looks like a website that barely translates into an app in the worst way possible, and we are expected to rely on GNVRideRTS alone to get from place to place. Makes you miss buses constantly because it just looks so terrible and works so horribly. Seeing multiple routes is a pain to select and reselect and deselect every time. GNVRideRTS screams nepotism to me. Which RTS exec's 12 year old son coded his first app and what
buffoon decided to force all of Gainesville to use it.

Inaccurate, Slow, Laggy: And Google Works Better

For as much as I depend on the bus to get around, GNVRideRTS is bad at showing up to date information, such as modified bus routes due to construction, and at estimating the time that busses can be expected to arrive. While Google isn’t perfect, it’s vastly better at showing you what available routes are near you, and you can look at your location in real time so you know when to bail on your bus and start walking.

By

Needs work

I understand why TransLoc couldn’t be used anymore (app refused to update the routes to show construction), so GNVRideRTS was created. But it needs work. Every since thanksgiving break, I can’t even access the map or the rest of GNVRideRTS . Just says bad server connection. My friends have this issue too! I think it needs to be updated because sometimes I’m trying to decide which bus will be faster and I can’t as I can’t see the buses on the routes.

By

fix your app

How is it that a public transportation app designed for a college town, a town with a large and talented student population, can't hire enough students or alumni to produce a functional app? The amount of times I have missed buses because GNVRideRTS freezes, doesn't refresh routes, or randomly stops tracking buses is ridiculous. Hire one, just one, competent computer science major from this school, a Top 5 public university that has invested millions of dollars into CompSci programs, and fix GNVRideRTS.

By

I’d give it no stars

Honestly GNVRideRTS should get no stars but I can’t do that. It’s more complicated, I have to know the route to see it like it won’t just show me the near by routes, the bus location is so spotty like sometimes the bus is on the route and other time it acts like there’s nothing there. I’ll be walking on a bus that GNVRideRTS doesn’t pick up. Why did they switch it if GNVRideRTS is so much worse then the old one. At least the old one worked…

By

Unreliable

I miss the Rider app. It was ideal, you could have a live map with all the routes intuitively and be able to tap a stop to see the ETA of all applicable routes. They discontinued it, brought in Transloc (bad interface) with no updated routes(horrible) and now we have this even worse app. RIP Rider, but Transloc is better than this. It’s been out for 4 weeks, I have a newer phone and Verizon cellular yet GNVRideRTS says ‘technical difficulties’ 4/5 times I’ve tried to use it

By

Awful

GNVRideRTS never loads! It says it is my connection but that is not true because literally every other app I have loads. The server is absolute garbage! I now have no way of knowing when the bus will be coming! Just have to guess! Figure it out please because a lot of students are going to give up on the bus system! I am this close to giving up and finding another way to campus.

By

Needs improvement

GNVRideRTS is not that bad to use…However, it never loads! I don’t have bad service, so I don’t understand why GNVRideRTS gives so much problems in loading the actual app and times. Before y’all decide to release, make sure y’all work out the bugs before. TransLoc was really an ideal app to use and didn’t need to be changed :( please fix this !

By

Transloc works better

This is just too complicated for its own good. Transloc does the job much simpler.

By

TransLoc is much better

GNVRideRTS layout is ugly and TransLoc works so much better

By

Terrible

Bad design, hard to use. Sticking with TransLoc for now
