No idea why this was the app of the year 🙄

2024-10-15

I’ll fully admit I ain’t perfect and this could be user error and me failing to understand GentlerStreakFitnessTracker , but I find it completely useless and I’m very disappointed that I spent 30-odd doll hairs on something that is basically a daily reminder. I love the idea of having rest days in your health maintenance routine, but this ain’t it.

Go Gentler doesn’t measure my activity the same way my watch does and it’s frustrating. It only counts what i log as a workout or do on Meta. For example, on a trip to NYC I walked over 25K steps four days in a row, like LONG outdoor walls that I don’t count as a workout, but IT’S STILL EXERCISE. Then here comes GentlerStreakFitnessTracker like, “You seem rested! Time to step up your game.” …Really? 25K steps and yall acting like I didn’t exercise? Go sit down somewhere.

Also, I hate the notifications that tell me I burned a banana and an orange or some jawn. It feels super condescending. Just gimme a number.

After a full week of resting I’m still “overreaching”

2024-09-21

I don’t know what the intent behind GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is, because all it seems to say is that I’m overreaching. I took two short (10 min ea) bike rides and it said I was overreaching for a day before telling me to exercise. Then I took one long bike ride (2 hrs) a week ago and today it still says I’m overreaching and need to rest. I haven’t even taken walks since then! If you want to build your fitness level go find an app that will actually push you. If you want to feel good about being lazy download GentlerStreakFitnessTracker.

Edit: I just got a message that I need to log a workout (even though I just did one yesterday) and it STILL says I’m overreaching.

Edit 2: I didn’t open it for a couple weeks and the widget said for all of that time that I was either well rested or overreaching. It never said I was on the right track and it took days to go from overreaching to the well rested, never stopping in the middle. Then today I got a mea culpa message when I opened GentlerStreakFitnessTracker saying their onboarding was messed up and they were going to fix that. Near as I can tell nothing has been fixed. Go find another app, this one is not good.

Different Perspective on Fitness

2023-10-23

Issue has only gotten worse. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is not very smart. I walk 3-4 times a week for 90 min and it keeps showing that I'm "over-reaching". My heart rate is normal, yet GentlerStreakFitnessTracker has not learned this routine. I have contacted support several times over the last few months, but no update has directly addressed this. Please fix.

Update: There is something wrong with GentlerStreakFitnessTracker . The last few days I have only walked for 30 min and it says I am "over reaching". I usually work out for 90 min and have no problems. Very interesting app. Really like the way it tracks and shows your health information 👍🏻 The reason for the three stars are the widgets. Not only do I find them a bit basic and lacking variety, but they don't update in the background. You have to click on the widget itself or open GentlerStreakFitnessTracker so the widget displays your current progress.

Pretty, supportive, but based on science?

2023-12-28

First, GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is visually appealing and offers positive support & encouragement for health & fitness goals. But I’m not sure if the goals/guidance it gives you are based on science or… what, biorhythms? There used to be this range of effort that would fluctuate up and down over time, with GentlerStreakFitnessTracker encouraging you to stay within that zone, but I don’t know what that zone was based on.

Next, I subscribed for a year because it seemed useful, but without the specific explanation for what that zone was based on, it’s hard to be reassured that it actually meant something. Then after I let my subscription end, they tweaked GentlerStreakFitnessTracker so that zone is no longer visible at all - meaning that the free version just offers encouragement without anything more concrete. I let my sub lapse but I didn’t delete GentlerStreakFitnessTracker ; after this change, I don’t see any reason to keep it anymore.

Don’t See the Value

2024-07-06

Update: I’ve had GentlerStreakFitnessTracker 4+ months now and still do not see the value. I do not plan to renew my subscription and do not think it is worth the cost.

Things that don’t make sense to me and could use improvement:
- you can only see the last 10 days of your activity path (so you cannot see long term improvements or decline in activity)
- any activity that you do that is not logged as a workout does not affect your activity path
- many (all?) workouts logged through GentlerStreakFitnessTracker seem to count 100% toward your exercise ring (rather than only counting walking that is brisk enough)
- per the previous two points, if I log 90 min. of “Daily Chores” so that my activity for the day is reflected in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker, it counts as 90 min. of exercise in my apple health app
- the wellness tab and the activity path don’t work well together. I’ve had days where the wellness tab tells me to take it easy but the activity path tells me I need to step it up or I’m going to fall off my activity path

Initial Review: I’ve been subscribed for at least a couple of months now. I have yet to see the real value this provides beyond the workout tracking that is available and built into the Apple Watch. I am intrigued to see how the Wellness tab possibly enhances GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. BUG: The sleep info in the wellness tab is incorrect. It seems you are only pulling in the sum of the stages of sleep. For example, my health app says I slept 8h 48m but your app says 6h 34m.

Not so helpful

2023-03-19

I read a lot about GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and was excited to try it, but during every day of the free trial it told me I was overworked and to take a rest day. Every day! The fact that I’ve had only rest days for a year kind of scares me — what body metrics is this thing reading and what is wrong with me?? Well, you can’t find out on GentlerStreakFitnessTracker or the website what inputs it’s using to tell you to rest. If it’s just a calibration problem that would be good transparency to put somewhere in the insights. Otherwise this company is simply withholding information rather than stopping me from being overwhelmed by it.

Lean Into Go Gentler

2024-02-27

GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is confusing to me.

I’m unclear on what determines my activity status (calories? Heart rate? Workout load? VO2 max? None of these?)

I subscribed to the paid offering hoping I could focus solely on the recommended workouts (“Go Gentler”) - and I really wish this feature was more prominent in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker (namely giving it a dedicated section in the bottom menu bar).

There’s a lot of redundancy with the Apple Health app wrt stats. The blog posts (Insights) section I find to be useless - replace this with Go Gentler!

I wish they culled everything in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and just really leaned into the recommended workouts (Go Gentler) and my current training status / well-being (and added more transparency into how my training status is determined).

I’d love for GentlerStreakFitnessTracker to replace my Garmin watch’s capabilities but the proprietary nature of activity status, the lack of prominence of Go Gentler, and the redundant stats / blog posts on eating healthy I don’t find at all useful.

Go Gentler is the killer feature of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker, please focus more on developing this! No other iOS apps have useful recommended runs / workouts - I think that’s where you’ll find strongest PMF.

Neat App But Seems to Lack Accuracy

2024-06-15

This is a great app. I love the way the information is laid out. I love the design a lot. I only have two gripes.

1. For context, I wear an Apple Watch Ultra almost 24/7. I am in good health. I’m a long distance trail runner. I spend a lot of time on my feet every week. I’m not fast, but I do speedwork (whatever that is for a 49 year old) about once per week. Go Gentler doesn’t seem to take into account current fitness levels or heart rate data. It seems to be mostly based on time. I could do a slow two hour run, and it will push me into the “overreaching” zone even though I’m in zone 2 most of the time. Then I do a “fast” 5k, and it barely registers as a workout. I may be more tired from the 5k, but GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is telling me to do more. Not correct. I’ve used other apps (e.g., Athlytic) that handle the data better.

2. If you use the track bar graph instead of the single line, it constantly moves and tries to show you how you can “sneak” ahead into the future. I get it. I got it the first time. Don’t show me that and give haptic feedback *every single time,* please. I switched to the single line because it was so annoying.

I paid for an annual subscription because overall, I do love GentlerStreakFitnessTracker . But I hope to see improvements.

Not worth it if you don’t have an Apple Watch

2024-07-15

I love the idea, but you really need an Apple Watch to make it work. In theory, it’s supposed to work as long as all your data is in the apple health app. But if you don’t have a fitness tracker, or your tracker is a Fitbit, all your data isn’t going to be in the apple health app, and then it’s not going to do much for you. (There are separate 3rd party apps that sync Fitbit with AH, but they all seem sketchy - personally I don’t like to give out my data like that.) You have to pay to be able to add things to Gentler Streaks manually, and even then it keeps displaying things about fitness trackers, like telling you to wear your smartwatch to bed. They should really make it clear up front that 99% of the functions are based on having an Apple Watch.

Great for Novice, not great for serious training

2024-10-10

I love that Gentler Streak makes it simple and easy for folks who are just beginning their fitness journey. However, if you are a serious athlete training for a marathon, 15 K, or some other endurance race this is probably not GentlerStreakFitnessTracker for you. I have been training for eight weeks and recently completed a 8 mile run. I took a day off to recover, and then the following day GentlerStreakFitnessTracker said I was pushing too hard, 1 mile in to a 2 mile active recovery run. I know my body and I know when it is time to lay off. Being in tune with my body and whether or not, it’s ready after recovery is something that comes with years of training and experience.

Again, this is great for those just beginning, or just wanting to learn about their body and it’s response to stress from physical activity. It is not meant for rigorous and experienced endurance athletes.

Gentler Streak falls short of expectations

2024-06-21

I subscribed to Gentler Streak for about a year, but I’ve decided not to renew my subscription. Initially, I was drawn to GentlerStreakFitnessTracker because I thought its name suggested a focus on overall fitness goals in a balanced and supportive manner. However, my experience was quite different. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker frequently categorized my efforts as either over-reaching or slacking, which didn't align with my expectations for a "gentler" approach to fitness.

One aspect of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker that stands out positively is its feature to help you train during your menstrual cycle. While this is a thoughtful addition, it’s not relevant for me since I no longer have menstrual cycles.

In terms of performance, Gentler Streak does a decent job tracking cardio activities. However, it falls short when it comes to strength training. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker 's capabilities in this area are lacking, which is a significant drawback if your fitness regimen includes a substantial amount of strength work.

That said, Gentler Streak could be beneficial if you are a runner training for marathons or races. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker seems well-suited for tracking and optimizing cardio efforts, making it a good companion for dedicated runners.

Overall, while Gentler Streak has some merits, it doesn't quite meet my needs for a comprehensive fitness tracking app.

What’s the point

2023-09-25

There are little articles that are not specific to my data- this can be found anywhere. Not sure how this is any better than apple health. It does not import nutritional info from other apps or apple health

Great premise, very slow to load 🫤

2024-10-15

I really love the concept of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker , but it is incredibly slow to open and load data (noticeably slower than other data intensive apps). If I’m trying to get a quick sense of where I’m at in the day this is often enough delay that I just close GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and move on. If I open a month in review, it has to process the data again it seems, even if I’ve looked at the month before.

I like that GentlerStreakFitnessTracker helps focus on relative effort, and encourages you to get back into things, well, gently. It’s so much nicer than apps that don’t afford any rest time or that don’t account for overall wellness when setting goals and determining steaks.

I’ll keep with it for now at least!

Love the app but it is missing one thing

2023-11-27

Just started using GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and I am excited about the possibilities I very much like the design, concept, and the idea of having a "one stop shop" to track my fitness. It certainly offers more promise and appeal than the Apple activity rings. I do, however, have one major concern which is that if I'm going to trust my health to an app, I would very much like to have a little more information about the research and validation behind it. Otherwise, I am forced to rely on a "black box" to tell me if I am doing what I need to do to maintain my fitness and health. I'm pretty sure that's not the greatest idea. So if the developers can provide some thing other than it's based on an "algorithm"I will add the extra star. You don't need to give away the family secrets but something?

UPDATE: got a developer response which suggested I get in touch to discuss my concerns. I did that but there has been no response, not encouraging. I will downgrade to three star until above concerns are addressed.

Make up your mind

2023-12-28

I got gentler streak as I thought it would better help me track my fitness and be more understandable than other apps like Aptive
It tells me my body is struggling and I should take a few days off.
So I do.

Then it tells me my fitness is in decline and I need to work out.
So I do….

Halfway through a workout GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is telling me I need to take a break because my body is struggling 🤯

Please make up your mind.
I’ve been pushing myself at this level of 6 months and have no problem with it. So why does GentlerStreakFitnessTracker think I have a problem?

Where are the new activities???

2024-01-29

I am unable to find the new activities as I am an avid Gardener and cannot see that with the update and list of activities? I only see golf and gymnastics under the G’s and I’ve updated my phone and watch. Otherwise would give 5stars.

Very pleasant interface. Possibly too gentle?

2024-03-22

I just downloaded GentlerStreakFitnessTracker , and I REALLY enjoy the aesthetic of this application. It is very fun to interact with and I’m excited to check back in to see how it interprets my data.

I understand GentlerStreakFitnessTracker might be tailored to individuals who are just beginning their wellness/fitness/etc. journeys, but is there a way to raise the “overreaching” limit? Or possibly make the message more supportive? As soon as I plugged in my information Yorhart told me I was overreaching, when actually I’m feeling pretty enthusiastic about my training and life in general right now.

Or maybe the “overreaching” limit doesn’t need to be raised. But users are presented with goal options, and based on what goals we select Yorhart will support us differently?

- “Recovering from an injury? You might be overreaching.”

- “Hey there! Remember if your goal is to balance your personal and professional life, you may be slightly overreaching for your goal.”

- Or, “Hey go getter! Congratulations on exceeding your goal once again! Keep up the hard work and you’ll be setting a new goal before you know it!”

I hope any of this was worth while, and doesn’t sound too critical. I really enjoy GentlerStreakFitnessTracker , and even though it is literally called “Gentler Streak” I would just love to see a more supportive message when I’m feeling like a go getter. There’s so much potential here. And I will definitely keep using and sharing!

Thank you!

I like it BUT

2024-03-21

I’ve been enjoying the encouragement notifications GentlerStreakFitnessTracker gives me after my workouts but today I’m running late and what do I see? A notification saying “ EXERCISE REMINDER You're about to wave adios to your streak. Start a Go Gentler workout and get back in the game.”

Not ok. I don’t know about other people but my willpower works on POSITIVE reinforcement, not negative. Not wanting to feel like a loser is not a motivation for me. Sometimes I need a day off for very good reasons. Telling me I’m about to say “adios” to my streak makes me want to skip a day just to spite you.

Reminders like “You got this!” and “You’re doing great, don’t stop!” are what will keep me going. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is so good otherwise and the negativity just seemed surprising. I hope they can update GentlerStreakFitnessTracker to either ditch the negative reinforcement or give us a choice.

Just one thing...

2024-07-27

There is a weakness in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker that the Apple Fitness app doesn't have. If I've forgotten to end a workout, walk or whatever, it's totally oblivious. Yesterday I used GentlerStreakFitnessTracker toward the end of the day, didn't stop GentlerStreakFitnessTracker before I took my watch off & went to bed. In the morning all my apps - Gentler Streak, Apple Fitness, Apple Health - showed a 9 hour long but very short walk. I'm used to my fitness app being aware that I've stopped moving & alerting me: this seems like a simple feature, no reason for such a highly-rated app to lack it. And to keep logging activity on an Apple Watch that's in Nightstand Mode? That's really silly. At least it was a chance to find out how to delete invalid data, which is easy enough, but shouldn't such an elaborate app include such a basic feature??

Love this! One Suggestion, Please…

2024-09-29

Overall, GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is fantastic. I use it exclusively on my Apple Watch. I have a request, though — and I think this is an opportunity Apple missed: I’d like to be able to cancel or abort a workout.

I’m a homebody, and use Gentler Streak to track my morning household chores. But there are occasions where I’ve failed to stop the tracker. The next thing I know, another half hour has passed and I notice the tracker is still running. In those cases, a simple cancel button— perhaps beneath the “Done” one, and coupled with a “Do you really want to cancel?” prompt — could stop the workout BEFORE it writes to the health data? I would much rather lose the 15 minutes of actual activity than keep a 45 minute instance I knew was false — I’d rather close the ring honestly and not have workouts later in the day affected by the mistake.

Thank you so much!

Great app! Could be even better.

2024-04-02

I love the concept and the delivery of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. I appreciate being able to take a pause and tweak settings so I can prevent disordered eating triggers and I can modify the level of rigor of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker . I love the positivity and that I feel like I can come back after an illness or rough mental health week. I also love that it takes my physical health into consideration helps me keep an eye on my metrics. I can even tell when I don’t use my CPAP machine for a night, which keeps me motivated to use the machine!

Features I would love to see, as a currently subscribed user: - Goals. I don’t always have time or energy to work out daily, but I’m not “sick” or “on a break”. Streaks (GentlerStreakFitnessTracker that inspired GentlerStreakFitnessTracker) allows me to adjust the timeframe that I complete my goals, such as 3x per week. In Gentler Streaks, I’d love to be able to set my fitness goals at 3x per week and then if I fall behind, GentlerStreakFitnessTracker lets me know if I need to “step up my game.” - Ability to modify messages. I would like to be able to change the text, for instance where it says “Step up your game.” Making GentlerStreakFitnessTracker more customizable would be better for everyone, no matter the desired level of rigor. Adding these features would make this a 5-star app.

Loved until the watch app stopped working

2024-09-29

Update:
My watch just aged out of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker . If you have a newer Apple Watch, it should work great for you. Huge bummer that my otherwise perfectly functional device will no longer support GentlerStreakFitnessTracker that I used all day everyday but I guess maybe I can get back into regular use when I am able to afford a new watch 🤷🏻‍♀️. Better than the Apple fitness rings if it works on your Watch.

Original review:
I started paying for GentlerStreakFitnessTracker earlier this year and absolutely loved it for the first half of 2023. After an update about a month ago, maybe longer, the watch app totally stopped working then disappeared from my watch. I have tried redownloading to my watch periodically since incase it is fixed by a subsequent update and every time I am told the download failed and to try again later. Anyone else having this problem? I really loved GentlerStreakFitnessTracker so I hope it is resolved quickly.

Still needs a bit of work

2024-03-22

UPDATE: We still aren’t getting anything to show our steps as activity in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. That’s a critical issue here. We shouldn’t have to log our daily steps as workouts to record the activity. I’ve tried doing this to have a more accurate picture of wellbeing and actually have GentlerStreakFitnessTracker saying I’m overreaching when it’s not that hard to walk throughout the day, taking breaks in between. Developers need to find a way to work this into the algorithm for GentlerStreakFitnessTracker . As it stands it seems that while other apps ignore the need for customization based on individual abilities/needs GentlerStreakFitnessTracker ignores the need to have basic data at its core. We need to meet somewhere in the middle here ASAP.
————
I like GentlerStreakFitnessTracker but there are area it needs work; 1) The new Wellbeing tab and syncing with Health is good, but why doesn’t it show our steps? and why aren’t our streaks reflecting our walking throughout the day? This needs attention ‼️ 2) I’ve had to edit sleep in other apps as it over estimated my time sleeping. But then GentlerStreakFitnessTracker shows “Insufficient data” under the Wellbeing tab.🤨 The day is there? I just corrected it so that the record is accurate. This shouldn’t be a problem. 3) One of the reasons I’ve liked GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is the ability to do things at our own pace. I don’t like the “reminders” about exercising or losing a streak. A streak shouldn’t rely solely on workouts but also steps. See point 1.

Great app! Looking forward to seeing it expand!

2024-10-07

Love the layout and the fun information given to match my activity. Keeps me engaged and coming back. Would love a “body battery” kind of meter and maybe expand into sleep tracking in relation to recovery with HRV and RHR. Basically whoop and garmin it up but keep the same charm. Otherwise as is it’s leaps and bounds better than what Apple gives stock and I’d recommend people install GentlerStreakFitnessTracker! Really great job.

Interesting but limited

2024-11-07

Could use some more features and the writing could use some improvement but otherwise solid app. The streak algorithm is interesting but I think that is where more features could be added. Look to the article on lactate threshold to see where writing could be improved (am I supposed to increase my pace until I’m sprinting at the end of the twenty minutes during the test?)

An absolute joy to use.

2024-08-15

I’m always the person to start going 110%, burn myself out, and stop working out for like a month because of it. I absolutely love GentlerStreakFitnessTracker because it’s finally gotten me back into regularly working out, at a healthy pace, and I feel incredible because I’m not burning myself out anymore. On top of the fact that GentlerStreakFitnessTracker ’s features work wonders, it’s incredibly polished- every little button and slider feels great to use- every little thing seems like there was so much attention to detail put into it. The little flashes of colors, the incredible graphs, the little haptics that play when you slide a bar, everything is easy and fun to do. Massive kudos to the design team, from a designer myself.

Works for me

2024-08-18

I’m not a competitive athlete. I’m an old fart and just want an app to help me stay healthy as long as possible. GS helps me stay motivated by tracking a few personal health and exercise metrics. I’ve tried a bunch of the heavy hitters, but most of them are all about social media or flooded with ads. Gentler Streak is just about perfect for me. It track my bike rides, walks and stretching, yoga and strength training, encourages me when I’ve been lazy for too long and even yells at me when I overdo it. I only wish it would read a few other metrics from Apple Health and display them along with the ones built into the ‘wellbeing’ tab, but I guess if they did that for everybody GentlerStreakFitnessTracker would end up being a bloated mess. Still, 95% perfect and (though I despise suckscriptions) Gentler Streak is one of the few I’ll willingly pay.

** edit ** And congratulations on being recognized by Apple as a 2024 Design Award winner!

Makes the Apple Watch Worth It

2024-08-19

Before Gentler Streak, I had bought, sold, then bought Apple Watches again because while I loved the idea of health tracking, I hated Apple’s Activity Rings. They simply don’t take into account that we are dynamic human beings with fluctuating needs.

Enter Gentler Streak. It played a large part in my decision to try the Apple Watch one more time, and it has single-handedly made it worth it. I love everything about GentlerStreakFitnessTracker: its friendly demeanor, intuitive user interface, educational angle, the ability to monitor heart rate zones in real time, the wholistic Activity Path, the option to set workout status (“on a break,” “injured,” and “sick” in addition to “active”), the wellbeing tab which gives you insights on your body’s readiness for the day based on sleep data—the list goes on and on.

For me personally, Gentler Streak has actually helped me trust my body more, giving me the assurance that I can exert myself more heavily during workouts than I had previously thought. As a result, I’ve been able to push harder over time with intentionality and care. Of course, this will vary from user to user—some people will find they need to drastically rein it in—which is the entire point of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker.

If you’re burned out on Activity Rings or are just looking for a workout app that feels more like a faithful companion than a strict taskmaster, Gentler Streak is for you. Just buy the subscription. It’s more than worth it.

I use them all

2026-01-20

I have been using several HRV monitoring apps as well as Gentler Streak. This is my favorite, let me tell you why.

I’m absolutely the guy that pushes himself too hard. I have to admit that I keep my score in the top end most of the time and often exceed the recommendation. That’s the beauty of it, I know and have learned to take more days off without guilt.

I’ve noticed less burn out. I have a pattern. I go hard for about six or seven weeks and then just burn out. Burn out for me means I’m 100% off the train. I eat poorly, sleep poorly and don’t exercise at all. When I rest more, I go much longer before I burnout. Actually, I probably don’t burn out until I decide to ignore the recommendations.

All the HRV tools. They are all over the place. One will tell me to rest, the other tells me I’m sick and the third may tell me I died two days ago. This tool, tends to track to more Jim how I’m actually feeling but just helps me stay reasonable.

I’m looking forward to some of the upcoming changes in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and am curious how the HRV features will help or break the current recommendations. I hope it gets a solid baseline and then sprinkles in some of the common sense built into this tool. I think the others are a little to rigid in the HRV baseline and zones.

Great tool folks. I feel this is really well suited for the overall wellness crowd. Let’s face it… the elite athletes will follow much more structured advise.

I don’t feel so guilty if I don’t over-achieve

2026-02-20

I routinely use Gentler on my watch instead of Apple Fitness. For me, it’s easier and quicker to get this one started and to tell it pause and then stop. I arranged the activities so that the one I use most is at the top of the list, which is very handy.

The other thing is that GentlerStreakFitnessTracker has a much more realistic idea of how often and how much I can go-go-go, and is nice enough to point out that Zone 2 is fat-busting, when I was being hard on myself about not working harder. Very encouraging!

There’s no pressure to do more than I have time or stamina or strength to do. At first, Gentler was very concerned that I needed to slow down. (I actually needed to change my goal.)

There have been weeks when I haven’t gotten very many workout sessions in, and I get a gentle reminder that I needed to be consistent. No guilt trip, though.

The only problem I have is that I keep forgetting to end my session, and two hours later I look down and see that it’s still going. And sometimes my watch needs charging but I still workout and GentlerStreakFitnessTracker doesn’t know it. Would be great if there was a way to take out or edit a workout that appears much longer than it should be, or add one when I didn’t wear my watch.

I didn’t think I would like this so much, but it’s a good motivator for someone like me who is trying to workout to improve physical and mental health, but is not an athlete, and has other things to get done too.

Great way to look at health data

2024-08-15

I love the way the data is presented in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. It’s really clear and easy to find and yet includes a lot of information. The layout of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is excellent and the graphics are great. I love scrolling through and seeing all my workouts in one place and digging deeper to see how I did during those workouts.

I have always wished Apple had a mechanism for taking a rest day or saying I was sick and taking it easy and GentlerStreakFitnessTracker lets me do that. I love the idea of the activity cloud as a quick way to see how I’m doing. I wonder though, if it adjusts over time because I signed up at a time when I hadn’t been super active for a while and now that I’m going back to my regular routine it thinks I’m working too hard.

Overall, I’m loving GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and I highly recommend it.

Suggestion and Review: Gentler Streak App

2026-04-21

I have recently started using your app and became immediately attached to it! As a D1 athlete, I use my Apple Watch almost every day when it comes to seeing the number of calories I burnt, the distance I traveled, my average pace, and now my recovery meter! I wanted to make a recommendation for one of the activities on GentlerStreakFitnessTracker : Outdoor Rowing. Currently, the watch face only displays my calories burnt, the amount of time that has gone by, and my average heart rate. I would really like it if there was a way to customize it and see my distance as I row. Some additional features such as my pace, or stroke rate would be a great add-on as well. Overall, I'm super satisfied with GentlerStreakFitnessTracker that your team has created!

Exactly what I needed

2026-05-23

I have only been using GentlerStreakFitnessTracker for a couple of weeks, but I am feeling really optimistic about it. As somebody who has over exercised and even injured myself in the past, I like that GentlerStreakFitnessTracker tells you when you are over doing it. It also suggests alternatives including active recovery or simply taking a rest day. The activity path also adds an extra layer of motivation because I want to see it trend upward. I also really liked that GentlerStreakFitnessTracker was able to pick up my existing activity data and show me a summary of 2022. Thanks for creating such a wonderful app!

Exercise options

2024-08-12

Originally I didn’t see the point in starting workouts from GentlerStreakFitnessTracker because I always used my Apple Watch. Little did I know, GentlerStreakFitnessTracker solves a problem I forgot I had with Apple. I can select “stroller run” or “dog walking” instead of just a regular old outdoor run/walk. Any exerciser knows not all runs are created equal, and something like pushing a stroller will slow your mile down by a LOT. I had no way of knowing looking back on my workouts which ones were slow because I’m slow or because I had a stroller.
Also dog walking. My dog has to stop and smell the flowers and then pee on the flowers.
GentlerStreakFitnessTracker helps me separate my dog walks from my regular walks so I can filter out variables like my smelly poopy canine companion, and my smelly poopy toddler companion.

Best App for a Healthy Relationship with Exercise

2026-07-26

I practice intuitive eating and HAES, which means that I explicitly focus on how movement helps my body rather than on calorie burn etc. This is great, but it also means I gave up my usual super motivating factors to exercise, such as closing my Apple Watch rings. For about a year, I struggled to find a new way to motivate myself that felt in alignment with my values.

Enter gentler streak! GentlerStreakFitnessTracker has been a game changer in helping to motivate me while still listening to what my body needs. It’s really helpful to see fitness mapped out on a line and get a visual reminder that rest, and not overworking yourself, are important! I also really appreciate the recent updates with the suggested workouts (takes the thought of it which my neurodivergent brain loves!) and the option to remove the food equivalents for calorie burn.

My only suggestions would be to have an option to remove calorie counts completely and to “hide” certain articles as they can be somewhat triggering and counterintuitive to someone trying to develop a healthier relationship with their body and movement. All and all though GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is really wonderful with no comparison on the market. I’m excited to see where else GentlerStreakFitnessTracker goes.

Finally a workout tracker that makes sense

2026-08-26

I’ve been using GentlerStreakFitnessTracker for about a month now and I absolutely love it. I don’t feel pushed to workout when my body is worn out. It lets me know when I need to step it up or if what I’m doing will maintain my current fitness level. It also tells me when I absolutely need a rest or I’ll hurt myself. It’s simple to use and understand. This is the motivation and guidance I’ve been needing. I have been consistent in my work outs since downloading GentlerStreakFitnessTracker and I feel better about actually working out. I highly recommend trying GentlerStreakFitnessTracker.

The best fitness app

2026-09-27

I just switched from years of using a Garmin to Apple Watch primarily because I wanted to try Gentler Streaks. So far I am very impressed. I am not a huge stats person. Lots of graphs and stats overstimulate me and give me a headache so I really love the interface of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. It gives me all of the information I need in a very user friendly, easy to understand way. I’m also not an elite athlete. Im just a 44 year old mom trying to stay as fit as I can and GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is really helpful for that! I am very excited about the new update and I think that addition will really put Gentler Streaks over the top in comparison to some of the other apps out there. If I was to give any criticism it would be that there is no way to edit a workout. I would like to be able to rename my workouts and occasionally edit the distance if GentlerStreakFitnessTracker distance doesn’t match up to what my treadmill or bike says. It would also be nice if it would track steps and offer a complication for steps. I understand why they might not want to focus on step goals etc as GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is focused more on being reasonable and gentler on ourselves but I do like to get in a minimum amount of steps per day and look at it as a valuable metric. Thanks for making such an awesome app!

Great app

2026-11-08

I purchased GentlerStreakFitnessTracker on sale as I was searching for something to manage stress and ran across GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. So far, it’s been great tracking my stats. I love seeing my numbers in an easy to follow graph and it is always spot on when telling me perhaps I need to rest. Each time I have been feeling sluggish or unwell, GentlerStreakFitnessTracker “knows” based on my data. This has helped me take it easy when I otherwise would continue to push myself just because of my Type A personality. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker gives me the reassurance to listen to my body and put my well-being first. I absolutely love GentlerStreakFitnessTracker !

i NEVER write reviews

2024-09-21

GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is SO GOOD. im new to the workout field, and wanted something that didn’t yell in my face every day that i was not working out the recommended 30 minutes a day, that i wasn’t reaching my goals on certain days, etc. i am someone that needs a slow and steady pace, and thats exactly what GentlerStreakFitnessTracker has given me. now after using it with premium for a month, i am excited to open my app every day and see where my activity level should be and get my walk in everyday, as well as review my metrics to see how far i’ve come from last month. i appreciate the new update and cant wait to see how next month goes! HIGHLY recommend GentlerStreakFitnessTracker.

I love this app!

2026-02-22

I recently saw GentlerStreakFitnessTracker mentioned in an article listing some of the best/most useful Apple Watch apps. Having an app monitor my heart rate/age/etc. and be able to tell me if I’ve been working too hard and need a rest day or not hard enough and need to step it up is exactly what I’ve needed!

Super Helpful

2026-03-26

I’ve been using Gentler Streak Premium for about a month, and it’s been a game changer for both my physical fitness and mental health. I now no longer feel guilty for taking a rest day, in fact now I embrace it! Counterintuitively, my cardio fitness (as measured by my VO2 max) and my strength have improved despite taking more days off. I now realize that I was likely doing too much activity and not resting enough. I’m working hard to stay in the green, although I still “overreach” about once a week. So far, I have nothing but good things to say about GentlerStreakFitnessTracker!

Motivating by design

2026-04-24

GentlerStreakFitnessTracker’s design does a beautiful job of actually motivating me to be active. You can exercise a little bit every day or a lot every couple days and GentlerStreakFitnessTracker will recognize it as keeping a streak as long as you do enough but not too much. I’ve always felt like the apple watch’s default metric view was too aggressive and doesn’t seem to have any way to really say “hey you’re pushing too hard.” It also has a way to easily compare your activity over different periods of time and set goals for yourself. Very much worth the $20/y

Helpful to learn to listen to body cues

2026-05-26

Updated: I’m blown away by how quickly my concerns about the food emojis being triggering were addressed in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker . I’m now a subscriber and have updated my rating. Thanks for being so open and responsive!

Old:
Why have a little emoji implying I burned off a slice of pizza during yoga? You seem to get with the whole concept of GentlerStreakFitnessTracker that people need a more supportive way to meet fitness goals, and the food icons just reek of diet culture. Really enough of a turn-off that I uninstalled GentlerStreakFitnessTracker .

Love the interface

2026-06-26

Liking this so far. Not sure how accurate it is with recommendations on when to take breaks but it is nice to hear when to rest and plan out days off working out instead of trying to work out regularly and feeling defeated when it doesn’t happen. Will definitely keep using!

Great for regular people

2026-07-28

I’m not one of those elite athletes Apple seems to make their exercise apps for. GentlerStreakFitnessTracker scales the encouragement back to suit my exercise life perfectly. Otherwise it works just like the built-in watch workout app, so it can easily take its place. Highly recommended. Qq

Great app

2026-08-28

Gentler Streak is a perfect complement for the activity rings. It helps guide you into doing more intense exercises or doing light exercises. It helps me not try to take the easy way out and only take walks all week and to actually do an intense exercise when my body is capable of it.

Amazing app, could use upgrades

2026-09-29

I really love GentlerStreakFitnessTracker! Whether you're an athlete or just getting started, GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is for you and the only training app you need to track your physical health!

Great app

I have been using GentlerStreakFitnessTracker for a while and I love it, works great and have several workouts other apps don’t have.

The right way to be (re)introduced to fitness

2028-01-24

Gentler Streaks makes fitness accessible to all. It lowers the barrier to entry (your own mind!) and does so in a fun and delightful way. As someone who has always had a complicated relationship with fitness and who has tried lots of apps to track workouts or provide motivation, this one is by far the best.

Gentler Streaks combines the tracking necessities with the appropriate motivation to help you continually achieve your fitness goals. No matter if you’re a novice runner or an expert powerlifter, there’s something in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker for you. It’ll tell you when it’s time to give your body a break and when it’s time to push to the next level.

The added benefit of Wellbeing, which utilizes sleep tracking data, is something I have yet to explore as I don’t sleep with my watch on, however I’m considering adding that to my routine since I’m so happy with the rest of the functionality in GentlerStreakFitnessTracker.

Love to see the continued updates being pushed frequently and Gentler Streaks getting better and better. Keep up the great work. 🏋🏻

Absolutely the best

I work at an app in the same space, so being aware of the challenges they face I have to say I am so impressed by what the Gentler Streak team has been able to create! The level of detailed personalization to make actionable, frictionless recommendations…how do you do it?! I paid for Premium and I am so glad I did, not just for the insight and education about my own body, but I’m happy to support the team that created GentlerStreakFitnessTracker. Apple Health was severely lacking insights to my data and Gentler Streak took that data, cycled it through some of the most engaging product design and UX I’ve seen in this market yet, and gave me an incredibly useful/informative plan for the 10 days ahead. Thank you GS!

Love it!

Original review - I really want to love GentlerStreakFitnessTracker, but I feel like there needs to be some work done when it comes to the weight that each exercise holds. For example, I’ve been doing daily walks. Nothing crazy, just half an hour of light walking on my walking pad, and GentlerStreakFitnessTracker is consistently telling me that I’m doing too much and overreaching. I feel like a short walk a day is the bare minimum, so it’s odd that I’m being told I need to stop moving entirely to get back to a healthy zone.

Edit - now that I have been using GentlerStreakFitnessTracker for a couple of months, I can confirm that it balances out after about two weeks of use. Now that my streak has gotten used to my usual levels of activity, it’s perfect! I really like how it suggests different types of workouts and takes into account things like my sleep quality and where I’m at in my hormonal cycle. This is a great app for anyone looking to take care of their body without falling into the perfection-obsessed culture that you typically find with health apps.
