TOR Browser : Onion VPN Reviews

Without any VPN configuration, TORBrowser failed to block 90% of trackers with a test I conducted. With a separate VPN configuration other than the built-in browser one, TORBrowser failed to block 40% of trackers, which means the inherent tracking blocking capabilities of this browser were lacking. My control, Firefox and Brave, blocked 100% of tracking requests with my personal VPN. How can this be possible? Finally, with the built-in app VPN it blocked 100% of trackers as expected, with the exception being its own ads which require a premium to remove. A completely unethical move.

Also, why is the Google homepage set as the default start page and search engine in this browser?? Is privacy really in mind here?

Off topic: I am looking alternatives to Brave because I want to move away from a chromium based browser. Firefox focus doesn’t feel as private as Brave. Thought this Tor browser would be the answer, but nope it’s a premium focused service.

This vpn is so fast and wonderful that i hardly can say the right word for it I really am so lucky to have chance to work with it. I love TORBrowser because since you have to pay and get a subscription using money to do anything, it really shows how good the service must be. Ah yes, the exclusivity really increases the quality of the service because I know that I’m getting something better than everyone else. Again, due to the exclusivity created by requiring you to pay for a subscription to use the service, it just makes it that much better.

I have been using the PC Tor Browser and have had no issues. With the impending repeal of the net privacy act in the USA I feel it's necessary to hide my data. I didn't like the pop up ads on the iOS version but it said if I wrote a review it would upgrade to Pro version without ads, so that seems fair. Thanks! ‌‍ ‍ ‌‍ 

A Tor browser is more crucial than ever since our privacy is up for sale and we live in perilous times. That said, I hate change. So I'm glad to say making the switch to Tor Browser has been seamless and the "learning curve" is negligible. I'm a very new user, but very happy so far with settings, performance and. functionality  ​   

This vpn is so useful. Whenever you want to connect just less than a second it connects and in china that the great wall blockage is so strong but this vpn works amazingly. I highly suggest it. 👍🏼✌🏼       ‍ 

It’s long time since I’ve been using TORBrowser. I do like it because of its fast connection, not facing any interruption while connecting to the servers and unlimited service provided by TORBrowser . Brilliant.    ​

It works. The adds are a bit annoying until you get the paid version, but the free version allows you to test it out before paying the $2.  ‍      

Don't know much about the security side of things, but seems to at least be an improvement over other browsers. Usually isn't much slower than other browsers, and free is a good price. ​  ‌   

Actually much faster than some of the other torr browsers I've seen. Works great and it's nice to know every little thing I do isn't getting tracked. There's so much of it now adays that this is like a safe space haha ​​  ​

Smooth interface, everything seems to work well. Still need to figure out how to access onion pages.  ​  

Not connecting anymore in browser the toggle is frozen and in vpn settings it just keeps on saying connecting. Was working great earlier. Any help would be appreciated. I’ll change my rating if we get it fixed

Trying out tor browser for the first time!!! Nothing out if the ordinary, however, looking forward to the pro version and getting rid of pop ups!‌  ‍    ‌

Tor VPN allows me to search without the fear of being tracked. I learned about it through a New York Times article and this hasn’t disappointed me since I downloaded it.

Just getting started with TORBrowser. I like the easy to use familiar interface. Ads are bothersome but pro version should alleviate. Looking good so far.  ‍‍‌

An effective tool in privacy protection, I recommend this to anyone looking to keep their privacy up to snuff. I'm really enjoying the overall features.    ‌   ‌​

If you like to look at questionable content online or simply don’t want corporate entities tracking you, this is the best way to go. Great product.        

Great for school because the school wi-fi has blocked certain social media websites, but now I can go onto those website without any issues!  ​‌ 

So far I like this browser. Easy to use, seems secure. No way of knowing for sure, but like others trust based on the number of positive reviews.    ‍

I personally had tried many of the free Tor browsers available on TORBrowser Store. None of them really worked and suited my needs as well as this one. Easy access to the Dark web, also known as .onion sites, which is very good, as that is the main purpose of Tor for me. Also works great in combination with my VPN app, no problems. The only reason that it's not 5 stars is because sometimes websites that I know are active and functioning, will not load and TORBrowser will tell me that they are not available. This is however, a minor issue. Overall, as I said, the best free Tor app on TORBrowser Store, as I cannot speak for the paid ones, for I did not try them.        ​

Not gonna lie was finna right a review and start bashing the vpn, but it’s actually not that bad. I had recently had the issue of connecting to a vpn a day ago worked perfectly then the next day would pop up with a subscription ad and when I hit the X button would automatically disconnect me from the connection. I just deleted and reinstalled it and now so far it’s going good for me hopefully this helps anyone out that hasn’t tried that yet, and TORBrowser hopefully we’ll be in perfect use for the future for me.   ‌  

I wouldn’t ever use a VPN before I found TORBrowser. I have only found a few other VPN apps that I actually trusted enough to download, but even tho they all say “free,” none of them actually are. This one is not only trustworthy, but also actually completely free… you CAN purchase a premium subscription, but absolutely do not have to get it to still get an amazing, free VPN whenever you need one.       

I really hope that this VPN app continues using ads for its profit generation. If it started requiring “Premium payments” or, having to buy TORBrowser or any micro transactions, I don’t know where else I’d go for a VPN. It’s safe and trustworthy as far as I’m concerned. It’s protected me from obtaining trackers and such from certain websites and I’m sure of this because I used to get them before using this VPN. Thank you so much, you’ve made surfing the web feel a whole lot safer!    ‌  ​

Only been using for a few hours but seems to work well, DNS lookups seem a little slow but no doubt due to latency - my desktop TOR systems lag in similar fashion. Overall, happy enough to leave this review at four stars; the ads, while disclosed up-front, are a little too intrusive, which takes the fifth star away. But I can't complain too much; I'm thinking of it as a "free trial" before getting the Pro version :) ‌   ​    

You're better off using this application than using other browser. Recent ruling allows advertisers to use exploit your browsing habits. Not good because you don't get a piece of that coin... privacy is gone, so the name of the game is protection. My opinion is that TORBrowser will help protect you from advertisers exploiting your browsing habits. I hope this helps and happy browsing! ‍​‍ 

With telecommunication companies being able to sell your browsing information. I looked into using a safe encrypted browser. Using it, and having it replace my default safari browser i al extremely happy with TORBrowser and would recommend it to everyone.     

Easy on the IOS and memory, fast connect and very easy to use!
The free version works just fine unless you’re particular about the location being connected to, then you have the “option” to upgrade to your needs; otherwise it’s 100% FREE!!!

Haha in truth TORBrowser has easy to understand controls and keeps you secure, ( or as secure as an app you bought from a public App Store that has you're purchase history can) however the constant UPGRADE TO PRO felling that it gives off is very annoying, hence the 4 stars, it does give you pro for free if you write a review however,    ‌  ‍

I feel much safer using this browser, especially now that congress has voted to overturn legislation that protected us from internet providers tracking and selling our browsing habits. This is a relatively fast browser, that truly protects your identity as far as I can tell. It is easy to use and I really like the password protection option.       

I'm not one for conspiracy theories and the like, but I'm generally a private kind of guy and so would rather not have my personal information out there. The caveat to this is that I don't want to put a lot of time and effort into the act of attaining said privacy. TORBrowser is very intuitive to use and so far works seamlessly.  ‌​
