Doesn’t work with their own products

I bought a house with these thermomstats installed. When I went to set up the app, it told me that my thermostats aren’t yet supported and I should use the older app. What older app? This is the only one I find when I search the App Store. Even the hardware is not very good, requiring you to sort thru endless submenus for everything, and the counter intuitive direction to turn the dial to get characters, turn left, the cursor moves right. I might take these out and put in Nest or something. Its a thermostat, how complicated does it need to be?
