Deceiving… Buyer beware!

2024-12-22

1. After the 3rd offer to purchase premium at a fraction of the initial price, I agreed to the 7 day free trial and the one-year discounted subscription rate. There was no free-trial period, my card was billed immediately for an annual subscription. —— 2. I have a brand new Apple Pencil and an iPad that is only a few months old and, still, it is impossible to make clean drawing lines in ArtWorkout . No matter what I try, my lines always come out rigid and bumpy. This is frustrating because my drawing would be much better if it weren’t for this issue. —— 3. The survey at the beginning asked what types of drawing I would like to learn, yet at the end of each lesson, it gives me recommendations to draw the only category I did NOT pick of wanting to learn to draw. I’m not here to learn how to draw vector clipart.

It could have less of a paywall

2024-12-22

Look, the concept is amazing! My main gripe is the subscription. The only thing you are able to access is the daily drawing prompts. Honestly its fine to have a subscription, it really is. How else are you gonna afford stuff? But really, it gets to a point of obnoxiousness where every single thing has a paywall. I went to get ArtWorkout to try and learn how to draw with motivation again but it just severely disappointed me when every single thing i looked through was unavailable due to me not paying for it. I had gotten an advertisement saying that "it helps build your own art style" when it literally only shows corporate art styles, and even THOSE are blocked by the paywall. Its just disappointing to see from a struggling artist.

Issues

2024-12-22

This is an amazing app, the idea of it is great I just wish you could have more options. There are many free prompts to do and a daily activity. No ads!

I just wish there was an eraser, you have to do the whole prompt over if you made a mistake and want to fix it, I wish you could also rotate the screen. You can zoom in but it is hard to draw curves, straight lines etc. You only have one option as a “brush” if you press down hard, the lines are thicker and if you press lightly the lines are thinner. This leads to an uneven picture that looks terrible if you aren’t trying to fix the lines. Sometimes I’m not finished with instruction and it moves onto the next step. This is very frustrating.

Overall this is a nice app I just wish there were more options

just my opinion

2024-12-22

I honestly love this game. I’ve been playing it since yesterday and i5 is so fun, I’ve done like 4 things and I feel like I’m improving ( or maybe I’m just delulu). However I can only do like 5 things on ArtWorkout with the subscription! That ps not enough for someone who loves this game as much as me!!😔😣🥺 I wish every category had at least one free thing In it, as of right now, I’ve only seen a few. Or maybe you could have something where you pay a little bit of money or watch an ad to do a lesson of your choice. I also wish there was an eraser tool. Don’t get me wrong, I love the back button, but it would make life easier if there was an eraser tool. I do think this game is cool though! (Sorry for yapping)

Not sure what happened to lesson choices

2024-12-22

I did a free trial and decided to pay the annual fee as it was a lot of fun. However it is now suddenly only offering one type of lesson. Before I was able to choose between a guided lesson or a more advanced lesson that let me use different tools and colors and be more creative. Now there is no option for this and you have to trace the lines in the colors and tools they give you. Personally that is not fun to me, I really liked ArtWorkout before but I feel deceived about the apps features, as if it took away certain features once I was charged the fee?… unless it’s a bug I will definitely be calling my bank to report false advertising and get a refund. Def disappointed :(

It’s ok butttttt

2024-12-22

I love the game super fun and I have improved my art skills! But I think they should add more…. You have the get premium or you can only do one art per thing. Like say I want to draw lips, I would click on the Icon and I would only be able to choose the first option and you can’t get the others. So I can’t do much, and pretty soon there’s nothing else to do so I think this is a good game if you are on a trip or something and you’re bored but I don’t think this is the game for you if you’re going to be using this every day especially if you don’t want to pay money for a game but overall the game is pretty fun and there’s not a lot of ads. But I would love if you may be opened up a few more things per icon.

NOTHING for free users

2024-12-22

I have been using ArtWorkout for a while now, and don’t get me wrong, it’s AWSOME and can really help some people out when it comes to art, but only if you pay. This has no adds, very smooth, and is just over all a great drawing experience, But there is only about five things for free users?! I really love drawing and finding ways to express creativity but I shouldn’t have to pay $50 a year to do that. Though the money is a bit outrageous, it’s amazing. I have tried some other apps like this and this one is one of the best learn to draw apps I’ve come across so far. I completely recommend if you are looking for a great drawing app, but only if your willing to pay.

PLEASE try and find a way for a better experience for free users!!

Decent!

2024-12-22

Okay, I’ll start with the things I do like about ArtWorkout. I think it’s a pretty cute little app perfect for beginners in art. You select a drawing and it shows you steps to complete it yourself. Another thing I also do like about ArtWorkout is I haven’t had to watch any ads-to a very little amount at all. 👍(I’m talking 1-4 ads worth in a several weeks!) Two things I don’t love about ArtWorkout is that in the sections you click on (for example, landscape) you only have 1-2 options to color. [But there are tons of sections thankfully] You have to PAY for a “pro” option to get more coloring choices, but I think it’s okay to not do so. My last and only another issue is that if you want to exit, there is no way to save your progress, but luckily you can just leave the tab open, or just finish it, they take 3-6 minutes for at most. Thanks for reading!

Equivalent to the phone keyboard apps

2024-12-22

I love the idea of this game and I was thrilled when I saw it on yt, but once I downloaded it, I quickly realized it was just like the stupid keyboard apps for phones.

This game has a good concept, but almost nothing is free. It’s advertised as a cute drawing game (with non-expensive courses), but I tried to draw a cat and NOPE, ITS PREMIUM. Instead I’m stuck with a rabbit. Then I’m like, ‘OK, a lil mad, but let’s see the other courses!’ NOPE!! THOSE ARE ALL PREMIUM. I was trying to spend my free time being stress free and productive, but oh well, guess we can never get that with any I-phone games, now can we? Just because some of us aren’t able to pay you, doesn’t mean we get to have practically nothing. Welp, back to making stupid looking warrior cats while my bestie thinks she’s making me laugh by calling my art stupid…. Thanks a lot :/

Loved the app until recent updates

2024-12-22

I am one of the few that pays for premium and I think it’s definitely worth it as I’ve learned so much HOWEVER the most recent versions have changed some very important aspects that made premium worth it and without such I am considering canceling my membership. Please bring back/fix the following

1. Free draw/unguided lessons: the ability to go through the lessons with your own tools and complete each step to your own liking made ArtWorkout so much more versatile AND helped users learn without having to follow the strict guided lessons. Please bring back

2. Sketch layer: idk what y’all did with your last couple updates but now the sketching steps are not layered in the background making actual drawing lines are nearly impossible to see. Your version update even says “adjustable layers” but I don’t see that option or an explanation of what that means.

I love love love ArtWorkout and it’s really helped me learn to draw as well as relax and unwind and I really don’t want to delete it but if these errors are not fixed soon I may not have a choice!

It's great for beginners

2024-12-22

I believe ArtWorkout can help those who are wanting to learn to draw as a beginner. If you have experience in art and know the basics, ArtWorkout won’t do much for you than just a fun easy coloring book. ArtWorkout has the basics of lining; having cleans lines, steady hand- just very simple logical stuff. So if you wanna get better at line work I guess this is a good way to have fun and practice. But if you’re looking for something more advance I do believe there are other apps that can help. I don’t think ArtWorkout is made to help you LEARN how to draw but more just to practice and grow as an artist. I’ll continue to use ArtWorkout thank you for your hard work.

Could be better

2024-12-22

I like the concept and the lessons. For some I wish they went more in depth. For some of them they get you to certain point of outline and then tell you to freestyle. If I knew how to freestyle, I wouldn’t be using this thing. The tools could definitely use improvement. I don’t have the steadiest of hands, and so a lot of times when tracing, my lines are bumpy. There should be a smoothing tool or ruler of some sort. As well as a paint bucket tool to easily paint certain sections. I see that the drawing tools seem to be the same ones used in the Apple editing for pictures and notes and maybe it doesn’t offer those options, but the tool itself should be available throughout the whole lesson not just at the end for the “make it your own”. Fun and therapeutic but needs some more improvements!

Great app, but i have a few things

2024-12-22

So, first of all i dont think ArtWorkout works without an apple pencil, I have an apple pencil and i tried with my finger one time only, it didnt work that one time i tried, Next, whenever i finish a painting/drawing it keeps showing me the option to get a free trial, so thats a bit annoying. But there are only a few ads i get to paint like 10 things without getting an ad🎉 Which i like a lot i can draw alot of things without premium so i also like that 👍 👍👍 I love ArtWorkout and i dont think it needs wifi ( I dont know for sure ) I barely got ArtWorkout about 1 hour ago (while im writing this) I have a idea, Maybe only put the chance to do the free trial when you open ArtWorkout or reopen ArtWorkout (sorry if thats a bit confusing ) I love love ArtWorkout you should just get it if those things dont bother you or your kids ( if you have any lol ) I would rate a five star if it works with no apple pencil maybe i will change it to a five i dont know but yeah this is a great app

IM OBSESSED! <333

2024-12-22

At first I was like, “I’ll only use it for a day and get rid of it.” But let me tell you, ArtWorkout works like magic. The features are smooth and at peak. I’ve learned how to sketch, shade, and most importantly draw! There’s ranges of lessons to discover and uncover! It’s perfect for all ages and great for beginner digital artists. I’m a traditional artist and usually on canvas, so the fact I love my digital art is extremely valuable. The free version is great and the pro version is exceptional! I currently own the pro version but I would 100% recommend ether! The daily lessons are perfect and new lessons are always on the way. Techniques and Accessibility works great. It guides you step by step each lesson with tips to improve. It also has a left hand mode if you write left handed! You also have a gallery to store your beautiful pieces. If your thinking of downloading, I would 100% recommend it for beginner artists, or even advanced artists! ArtWorkout is amazing! <3

Don’t get this app

2024-12-22

The only reason why I rated it a five out of five words so that you could see it this review. In actuality I would give it a zero out of five because you can only do one drawing a day unless you pay a fee to do more drawings it won’t let you do a race when you make a mistake it judges how good you are of an artist which makes me feel self-conscious and worst of all it makes you take a long test at the beginning and it opens you to try and make you buy stuff from ArtWorkout ! Don’t buy/get. I had high hopes for ArtWorkout looking at the other reviews that’s why you need to see this one.

Great! but one minor suggestion…

2024-12-22

To the developers and the future people to get this, ArtWorkout is one of my favorites. As someone who is terrible at drawing ArtWorkout gave me a sense of “huh I can actually draw!” As I’m using ArtWorkout I’m getting better at drawing. I’ve had ArtWorkout for just around a year now, but I’ve taken it everywhere I go. Like as I’m traveling I am able to use it on the airplane so I’m not too bored. There is only one minor tweak that could change a lot of things is when I send the videos of my drawing the hand is a white hand, I mean there is nothing wrong with it, it’s just, as someone of black race I hope in a future update you could make an option to select the video of you drawing, skin tone. But otherwise thanks for a great app devs.

Phenomenal Customer Service

2024-12-22

When I first downloaded ArtWorkout, I ran into an issue that made it practically unusable. I reached out to the game developer and my problem was solved in a very timely manner with care and respect. The developer worked with me to solve my problem in a very thorough manner and I was incredibly impressed. After the issue was solved, ArtWorkout worked perfectly and I love it! ArtWorkout is great to practice drawing and teaches basic skills with easy to understand steps within the lessons! I once again cannot emphasize the helpfulness and kindness the developer of ArtWorkout showed me.

I would absolutely pay a hefty fee for a one-time purchase

2024-12-22

I only downloaded ArtWorkout a few minutes ago so I'm giving it 5 stars just to leave this review. I’ve been looking for guided exercises to help teach me perspective and practice the basics and i think I’ve found it with ArtWorkout. If there was an option for a one-time purchase, I would prefer that over any subscription. I hate losing access to great resources once I run into money trouble, plus the stress of making sure I have enough money in my account each day, week, month, etc. is too much. I would absolutely pay a fee, upwards of $100 if necessary to be able to use ArtWorkout even when I'm broke. Regardless, I'll be paying the subscription and can’t wait to practice perspective, drawing hands, and much more!

Helped me get back into art

2024-12-22

I love ArtWorkout! It has honestly helped me get back into art after being in a slump for years now. The lessons are all easy to follow (except for the copy the picture lessons, they are very hard to pass if you don’t copy the picture perfectly). I do wish there was a setting to adjust pen stability to let us practice making smoother lines. Most drawing programs have a setting like that so I believe that would greatly improve ArtWorkout !

My only complaint is that I would have preferred to pay a flat fee for ArtWorkout versus paying the subscription (I purchased a year sub) because it honestly gives me a bit of guilt if I miss a day or two of not using ArtWorkout ; I feel as if I’ve wasted my money. I think most users would rather pay $10-20 versus paying for a subscription.

Overall, I would recommend ArtWorkout and look forward to any updates/improvements :)

Great app

2024-12-22

This has been a great app so far. My 3 kids and I have been using it. First off, there are NO ADS as of January 2023! Then there is plenty of free content where there is like 53 categories of images and 1 free image per category, not to mention one category is a free DAILY image. We have not paid for the subscription at this time only because I am not should how much we will be using it regularly. We use ArtWorkout and a few others that have reoccurring free content.

At the moment the kids and I have just randomly used over the last several month. It would be nice to be able to tip the developer or possible make a one time purchase to gain a access to a little extra content. If they found they needed to include ADs a one time purchase to remove ads of like $2 - $3 I feel would be worth it. But I may just purchase the subscription and then cancel the reoccurring payment to at least give them something for their time investment in developing this. Thank you!
