The app is not working

Latest update has bugs

2025-03-11

by Nightonix

The first and biggest issue is now the app must remain open to continue playing the audio. Minimising the app or even turning the screen off pauses the playback, which is unfortunate when I want to turn the screen off to listen.

Secondly, tracks that were marked as completed have now been marked incomplete. Only those I've listened to from September 8 onwards still are complete. I know with the v2 update it has some weird issues with wrong dates showing for completed. It had been showing 2021 dates, when I've only started listening early this year. But at least the ones I've listened to before this update were (mostly) correctly marked done. I've both manually listened to tracks and also marked one entire book as done, but now the progress has all be undone.

I am hesitant to use the mark all as complete feature again as it overwrites the dates of completion to the date I press the button, which happened when I did it for a book where a single track refused to be marked as completed even when I re-listened to it, and marked as completed the entire book. So all it did was erase the actual history of dates when I had listened to half the book (since half of it I'd listened before the v2 update and were showing the incorrect 2021 dates).

Great content but app just doesn’t work well

I have reviewed this app previously. It continues to have issues. This week the problem is the studies don’t load. The study of the day doesn’t load, nor do the past studies. Yesterday I “rebooted” my phone which brought the studies back, but today that fix did not work. The study tracking doesn’t work because the app won’t leave me logged in. Since I listen mainly while driving I can’t continually log in. Therefore, if I miss a day or two I have to mentally figure out where I left off and then find the correct study. I noticed the other day that the Luke studies were out of order when I opened Luke in the New Testament content list. I continue to love TTB, but this app is painful to use.

Update: After no access all week (login was suddenly required to access studies but login just would not work), I am able to get to past studies this morning. But where is “Today’s” study? Normally that is the lead item when the application opens? When I opened a study to try to catch up it did not include Steve’s intro, world prayer team emphasis for the day, etc. I assume I cannot get the actual broadcast through the app.

I am going to try deleting and reloading the app.

New version 2.0 is not performing well

I listen to J Vernon McGee hours every day. The original app was amazing. It worked flawlessly and the speed was super fast with no buffering. The new version, or update 2.0, is painfully slow and is missing much of the content that I really enjoyed. The question and answer segment was my favorite. This segment has disappeared and that’s very disappointing. I realize that applications need updated periodically. Before releasing an app that takes forever to load (and I am on a fiber network with blazing speed) make sure that it is an improvement. I’d put the old application back up and spend however long it takes to get the new version right.
