Latest update has bugs

The first and biggest issue is now THRUtheBIBLEApp must remain open to continue playing the audio. Minimising THRUtheBIBLEApp or even turning the screen off pauses the playback, which is unfortunate when I want to turn the screen off to listen.

Secondly, tracks that were marked as completed have now been marked incomplete. Only those I've listened to from September 8 onwards still are complete. I know with the v2 update it has some weird issues with wrong dates showing for completed. It had been showing 2021 dates, when I've only started listening early this year. But at least the ones I've listened to before this update were (mostly) correctly marked done. I've both manually listened to tracks and also marked one entire book as done, but now the progress has all be undone.

I am hesitant to use the mark all as complete feature again as it overwrites the dates of completion to the date I press the button, which happened when I did it for a book where a single track refused to be marked as completed even when I re-listened to it, and marked as completed the entire book. So all it did was erase the actual history of dates when I had listened to half the book (since half of it I'd listened before the v2 update and were showing the incorrect 2021 dates).

Too many glitches

THRUtheBIBLEApp could be perfect but it has too many glitches. I installed it a few days ago and I've been trying to follow the study in order using My Journey but it's not working. Every time I open THRUtheBIBLEApp My Journey shows a different audio file than the one I left off. And it doesn't show my progress because it erases it. At first I thought, "ok this content is too good to let that bother me, I can select the next audio manually", but when I opened THRUtheBIBLEApp this morning, all the content was gone! So that's not even an option!
I feel sad because an amazing Bible study like this one should have an amazing app as well.

This app is not as functional or convenient as their old one

I love listening to Dr.J. Vernon McGee’s preaching and teaching. That said, it has become impossible for me to use THRUtheBIBLEApp with my current IPhone 11. I get frequent glitches that prevent me from listening, or else I get a white screen that prevents me from accessing the features of THRUtheBIBLEApp and I am then forced to delete THRUtheBIBLEApp and reinstall it. Lately I am unable to sign in or create an account, which is what is necessary to utilize THRUtheBIBLEApp . I would love to be able to use THRUtheBIBLEApp or listen to Dr. McGee, but that has become impossible. Several of my friends have also tried to use THRUtheBIBLEApp and have had similar problems. My recommendation: LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A GOOD BIBLE TEACHING APP!

New version 2.0 is not performing well

I listen to J Vernon McGee hours every day. The original app was amazing. It worked flawlessly and the speed was super fast with no buffering. The new version, or update 2.0, is painfully slow and is missing much of the content that I really enjoyed. The question and answer segment was my favorite. This segment has disappeared and that’s very disappointing. I realize that applications need updated periodically. Before releasing an app that takes forever to load (and I am on a fiber network with blazing speed) make sure that it is an improvement. I’d put the old application back up and spend however long it takes to get the new version right.

Great content but app just doesn’t work well

I have reviewed THRUtheBIBLEApp previously. It continues to have issues. This week the problem is the studies don’t load. The study of the day doesn’t load, nor do the past studies. Yesterday I “rebooted” my phone which brought the studies back, but today that fix did not work. The study tracking doesn’t work because THRUtheBIBLEApp won’t leave me logged in. Since I listen mainly while driving I can’t continually log in. Therefore, if I miss a day or two I have to mentally figure out where I left off and then find the correct study. I noticed the other day that the Luke studies were out of order when I opened Luke in the New Testament content list. I continue to love TTB, but THRUtheBIBLEApp is painful to use.

Update: After no access all week (login was suddenly required to access studies but login just would not work), I am able to get to past studies this morning. But where is “Today’s” study? Normally that is the lead item when the application opens? When I opened a study to try to catch up it did not include Steve’s intro, world prayer team emphasis for the day, etc. I assume I cannot get the actual broadcast through THRUtheBIBLEApp .

I am going to try deleting and reloading THRUtheBIBLEApp .

I’m a grumpy change guy. And its PERFECTLY A-OK!

When I see a major announcement such as the “TTB Radio Ministry App is going away”
to be replaced by “drone, drone, drone, drone, drone,” its not a warm and fuzzy on my end. Probably because its not presented as a warm and fuzzy on TTB end. Not everyone gets excited in the positive way about “change”. I really LIKE the old APP. It works great for me. Its not CHANGE just for the sake of making CHANGE. That often serves the egoes of designers, far greater than the needs, wants, desires of the loyal TTB audience.
Please, tell us why we need this change?
Why its better, if it is? More convenient?
And finally, a timeline. Not just an open threat that our beloved TTB is being taken away. Thanks for enduring my post.

Excellent - better than podcast player, except…

I love the Thru the Bible app. It is a far easier way to listen to the studies—much easier than the podcast, because in THRUtheBIBLEApp all the lessons are available.
Only two things would make it better:
1) Volume increase. For some reason, the maximum volume is less than is available when using a podcast player. No idea why. It’s not a huge difference, but it is enough to be noticeable and it inhibits my ability to hear the messages when I’m in noisier environments and cannot use earphones.
2) Have an option to “continue where you last left off.” This would make it easier to open THRUtheBIBLEApp and just start listening wherever I stopped during my last listening session. It’s not a horrible problem, as it THRUtheBIBLEApp does keep track of which messages I’ve read and I can find them. It would just make it a bit easier.

UPDATED REVIEW…Development team needs to go back to the drawing board!

Thanks for fixing the order of the daily audio!
Much more convenient for listening now. Resigning in is not every time I open THRUtheBIBLEApp now but there is an occasional need to sign in again.

I love how THRUtheBIBLEApp tracks what I’ve already listened to but there is a couple of issues…. 1. The books are in the correct order for riding the bus but when you go into a specific book, the daily audio is not in the correct order. This needs fixed! 2. Every time I close THRUtheBIBLEApp and reopen it, I have to sign back in. This is just dumb. It’s hard to imagine that an organization like TTB would allow this to happen. 3. Learn to read AND respond to these reviews. That’s just good customer service.

TTB anywhere, anytime.

Years ago, I was restricted to listening to Thru The Bible from 12:30 to 1 o'clock on BBN radio. Now once the messages are downloaded, I can listen to them anytime, anywhere, as many times as I would like every day. This is such a blessing. I'm so thankful for Thru The Bible and now for this wonderful app that they have given us to use as a tool for reading and studying the Word of God. Using the Apple App Store, I was able to send TTB to my brother and to my nephew, for their further Bible study.

All aboard the Bible bus

This is my third time going through the Bible with J Vernon McGee and Company I recommend it to everyone! I was recently back six or eight months ago sinning immorally so I said I need daily devotions and Study of God‘s word so I boarded the bus for the third time and slowly but surely over the months my sinning decreased! today I have a much better relationship with my Lord and Savior I hope you can do the same! May the Holy Spirit crowd out the old man & magnify the lord ! Blessings to all! 🙏🏻 share THRUtheBIBLEApp with your friends at work and church especially your family!

Stellar update!

I’ve been riding on the Bible bus for a while now on THRUtheBIBLEApp . I really really love being able to access the program whenever I want. This new version is very well thought out and fast. Thank you for making it easy to tune in to the schedule and catch up easily with the week in review. Helps me stay on track. I also love the auto download feature and the icons that make it clear where I am, or where I left off.

Praise God for this resource, and I look forward to seeing what’s to come.

Love TTB

Long time rider of the Bible Bus and I appreciate THRUtheBIBLEApp so much! I’ve also been able to share THRUtheBIBLEApp with 2 different heart language listeners (one in Spanish and one in Portuguese)
I have recently noticed that the study player will not continue to play once my screen goes into battery-saver mode (screen goes dark). My other audio apps continue to play in screen saver mode but I have to keep the TTB app open and screen on to have it play. (This seemed to happen right after the latest iOS update) Could you check into this bug?

Second Rating

I did gave THRUtheBIBLEApp a 2 star rating days ago when I first downloaded it at 2am when I couldn’t sleep. When I first started to listened to the “ Daily Study” that night, my iPhone would fade off and it to would stop playing, I’d tap my iPhone back on and restart the study only for it to do it again. I found that something supernatural was a play that night to stop me from listening to GOD’s Word through GVM. Well here it is 3 days and I have no problem with it since that night, it stays on now 👍🏼. So I give it a 5 star

Let the truth be told and revelation begin

Lifting the facts in in scripture in the proper context is worth more to my weight in gold to me The enlightenment and understanding enables me to properly share Gods word The poems being so applicable as well as an introduction to others The resources used to assist in explaining and/or proving the word of God are note worthy for continued enrichment in the awesomeness of the Trinity I love THRUtheBIBLEApp Thru The Bible I can listen work cook go back to what l need to hear again I’m fulfilled improved restored uplifted and constantly reminded that I’m a stinking sinner whom the law proves so and I need Jesus all day every day and I Thank God for Jesus Christ my Lord my Savior

Reveal & Resolve

The team of developers behind THRUtheBIBLEApp must be very agile and diligent. I’ve seen THRUtheBIBLEApp get better and better with every release. Nothing’s perfect, but this team addresses issues and bugs with new versions on a routine basis. It’s so great to see a Bible app with a team that cares so much about the user experience.
Of course, if you find something wrong with THRUtheBIBLEApp , you shouldn’t leave a terrible review. That’s like making a billboard for the fly you found in your soup. Instead, use the helpful button built into THRUtheBIBLEApp called “Report a Problem.” It’s like the red Batman phone Bruce Wayne had.

Excellent biblical teaching!

I’m not a new believer, but I find that I learn SO much listening to ‘Through the Bible’. I wish I had known about this when I first entered into covenant with Him in 1982.
Dr. McGee delivers these very thorough Bible teachings in such a way that it is easy to understand.
I like it that it is available in other languages. No all countries have the freedom to worship like the USA currently has. Just one listen and you will hear testimonies from listeners all over the world shared in the introduction to Dr. McGee
Supporting this program is another way to be involved in missions work. I highly recommend supporting this program and listening daily.

Thru the Bible App is Awesome!

After listening to Thru the Bible sporadically for the last 20+ years. Never finding myself in the car listening to the radio at the air time of the program on a regular basis. I finally downloaded THRUtheBIBLEApp a couple of years ago. It allows me to listen on my way to work. Now when I am off work, I can listen where and whenever I am available.
I am still learning how to use all the tools it offers.
Last Christmas I bought the school bus thumb drive for myself and adult children. Just incase the internet is not available.
I appreciate THRUtheBIBLEApp and other resources provided. However I use THRUtheBIBLEApp the most.

It’s never been easier to ride the Bible Bus

This application is a such blessing. It really does allow me to never miss a single stop along the Bible Bus’ route. I used to listen to the program on the radio but would often miss a stop due to my work schedule. THRUtheBIBLEApp allows me to have a set time every day to study God’s work with the Thru The Bible team. You learn so much more when you study the entire Word of God. I could write a commercial on all of the features that I enjoy but I’ll just say go ahead and download this tool, get on the Bible Bus, and see what the Lord will show you today. Thank you developers for serving the Lord with your technical skills to provide such a tool for such a time.

Awesomeness

Really love THRUtheBIBLEApp and more so than other ministries. Not that one’s better or worse. Just really enjoy the teachings.
I’ve noticed that there seems to be a legacy app in the wild.
For some reason I was able to see two Thru the Bible apps. I think this is the issue some are having in the low score comments. Others might try deleting THRUtheBIBLEApp if it doesn’t work and turn your device off. Then try to redownload THRUtheBIBLEApp
The only thing that’s aggravating about THRUtheBIBLEApp is the iPad version. There’s no ability to run THRUtheBIBLEApp in the background app refresh. I’d like to have my iPad open to my notes app during the study. But when THRUtheBIBLEApp closes the audio fades off. Please include the option to refresh in background.

Wonderful app. Highly recommend

I’ve been a listener since Jan 1, 2018 by podcast. When THRUtheBIBLEApp came out, I downloaded it and loved it. Thank you for bringing the word of God to the whole world in such a wonderful way. Dr McGee’s teaching is superb. Thanks to THRUtheBIBLEApp, I’ve been able to complete a five year study of God’s whole word. I now, by God’s grace, I am starting my second five year journey. Thank you to the TTB ministry team for a wonderful app! It has been a true blessing to me.
