These light meter apps are basically accessing the abilities of your built-in camera and feeding the info to you. Apple would probably add this for free if there was enough demand, but most people using an iPhone have no need for an old film camera. In earlier days a clever programmer who was also a traditional photographer would build LightMeterUltra on their hobby time and give it away. Today, we’re conditioned to eternally subscribe to everything, owning nothing and being forever in debt. Yeah, that’s a screed that’s probably overblown for this innocuous app, and yet the pricing on LightMeterUltra is such an excellent example of how genuinely insane we’ve become. Happy shooting.

It’s cheaper to buy a portable light meter. At least you’d own it. LightMeterUltra is a subscription hostage taker like Adobe. Adobe is being investigated and charged for unfair pricing practices.

Not worth a subscription

Can’t see any lux. They lie to get you to download and steal your data, then off a worthless product. Don’t get it.

Says in app purchases. Which means you can still use it and there are also subscriptions available. It’s actually a subscription ONLY app and it’s freaking $16 a month. Should put that on the first page so this will go all the way to the bottom of the list where it belongs.

Does not show 24fps. If you are going to put the word “film” in the description, you better have 24fps in it.

I love LightMeterUltra and has done great for me but do wish the aperture would started 1.4.

I just wanted to start off by saying this is probably one of the best Light Meter apps I’ve used, the layout is perfect and I can change my settings with one hand. the meter readings are accurate and I use LightMeterUltra to test every camera that I own. This is my go to spot meter.

Haven’t developed film i shot using this meter yet but I’m optimistic.

I'm using this for shooting 8mm with my Kodak Brownie. I set it to shutter priority mode, dial in my ISO, and then if I set the exposure bias to +1 I can dial in shutter speed as if it were FPS. Then I point it at whatever I'm shooting to give me the aperture.

Excellent customer service and response. Solved my issue - my own fault - with two emails.

I prefer to use this way more than the one built in to my camera. Id give it about a 9/10 for accuracy, it produces a great exposure for being a phone app. thanks for LightMeterUltra dudes!!

I found LightMeterUltra through Reddit and I’m so impressed!! I can’t afford a nice light meter and LightMeterUltra has never failed me. Super easy to use. At this point I don’t even think I’ll buy a light meter! Can’t recommend LightMeterUltra highly enough

I am a professional photographer and Director of photography working on both coasts, so as you can imagine, I am constantly in need of a check for exposure in between shots and set ups, and although I do have my trusty spectra, pro light meter, being able to check and double check, my readings with LightMeterUltra makes my life much much easier!

If you’re wondering whether this is worth the subscription price, then I ask you aren’t you are perfectly exposed shots virtually priceless???
