I purchased the camera and paid a total of $2200 for parts and labor and no one at the dealership could help me. It is very difficult to connect with the camera to even get started I have yet to accomplish bad feet. Pairing needs to be made much easier it’s really terrible.
App does not connect to dash cam. Please fix issue.
Who designed and wrote this code had no idea what error catching and recovery means! Pathetic given I paid $160k for the car and $500 for the cam
After hours at the dealer, hours at home, hours reading and searching the internet, I gave up. $2000 in cameras that even Porsche can’t seem to get to work. Save yourself the time and frustration, buy something else.
Can’t connect with IPhone!
Spent a lot of $ for factory dashcam prewiring and front and rear cameras at dealership for my 992C4S only to not be able to use the cameras due to this worthless and frustrating app. Lost count of how many times I have tried to connect and YouTube videos. No matter what I do I get connection error messages.
For those struggling to get this to connect on the pcm5, try this. First, you need an android device. Use this to setup the dashcam and pair the dashcam to the 5GHz version of the car's hotspot. Then in the submenu on the devices page (little icon on the top bar to the right of the word devices) you need to enable the share internet function on the car hotspot. After this you need to renew your dhcp address on your iphone. I did this by connecting to a different wifi then back. After this Porschedashcam starts talking to the dashcam and things work like normal. Hopefully this helps.
The worst app ever..
Porschedashcam does not work for the iPhone. Can’t connect wo Wi-Fi and all the settings are grayed out so you can’t make changes
Spent a fortune to get this installed on my Taycan. But I am unable to connect the Dashcam to Porschedashcam even after several tries. Porsche please fix this asap.
This thing is a disaster. I have confirmed the dashcam and WiFi work fine by connecting in Dealer mode. But Porschedashcam doesn’t “connect” even though the WiFi connection is there. Tried firmware update, factory reset, etc. Porschedashcam is just a piece of $@%*^#
If I could give it zero stars I would. Keeps telling me it can’t connect even though it is connected. For this kind on money, it needs to work. Wouldn’t recommend until this is fixed.
Unable to connect after million attempts by myself and two dealerships. The software is just horrible. Not intuitive. Porsche should stick to Making cars and outsource software. Good thing the dealership will be uninstalling for full refund.
Agree with other reviewer that Porschedashcam simply will not connect even if phone is on the proper network.
Additional: FINALLY got it to connect. Turn OFF car Wi-Fi. It will still take MANY tries to connect. Once it does, you can set direct connection or connect to car Wi-Fi and it will then connect pretty reliably. Bumping up to 2 stars because once you get past the initial horror show it does work ok.

And give it at least 15 times try. Error error error…. Once it works, it works great.
Porschedashcam has a very serious bug: it won’t show all the events for a given day!
I just had a near miss requiring hard braking that triggered the event beep.
I logged into Porschedashcam and only my drives from the morning were visible. However when I pulled the SD card and took it inside, the captures were there. So this is a software problem not a cam problem.
Second issue, the GPS fails for me all the time and just shows 0. This might be due to my thermal glass option, but I -have- seen it work on occasion. What’s the fix here Porsche?
I experienced the same frustration that a lot of reviewers have expressed, that Porschedashcam would not connect to the Porsche Tequipment dashcam. I discovered a workaround that appears to work. Close the Porsche dashcam app completely then disable both Bluetooth and cellular access for the Porsche Dashcam through your phone’s settings. Reopen the Porsche dashcam app and it should now connect. When it connects, it’s very stable. Porschedashcam needs some work but so far so good! BTW, the dashcam still records even if it doesn’t connect to Porschedashcam . You just need to retrieve the footage from the microSD card through a microSD card reader.
