The UX of WRD without paying is very poor and aggressive. To demo WRD you are slapped in the face several times wanting you to cough up money before seeing anything. You’re allowed a singular test before everything is gated behind a paywall. It tries to entice you with a “free” trial which only makes you commit to a subscription.
This practice is predatory, and terrible UX design likely forced by bad sales teams. Let users actually use it for a little while before demanding money every 5 seconds before they get a chance to use your app. It’s disgusting behavior and results in a quick uninstall. Won’t be using this again and why would I? I’ve seen barely anything in WRD when I know free competitors exist.
Its a good app overall with pictures and romanization but the pronunciation and words are sometimes wrong. For example the romanization and characters for the word time is completely different from the pronunciation which could be very misleading.
The content on WRD is ok. I do like the concept of WRD but of course you got to pay. Lastly, there should be more languages.
This Spanish learning app offers a helpful widget and user-friendly interface. However, it has some shortcomings, such as not handling gender distinctions, unclear parts of speech, and a confusing "unmatch" word-teaching method. With improvements in these areas, it could be a top-notch language tool. Overall, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
It would so much better if I could long press any word from any existing set and had the option to add that word to any list I created. That way I could make my own lists and keep them without having to look at the huge list for such things. Example. I want weather without the months. I may want to add my own words to my weather list. Custom lists are not well done here.
