Never loads

It ALWAYS takes time to load and most of the time never does. When I want to know when my practices or games are, or who’s coming, I can never actually find out because it NEVER loads. Teamsnap is better.

Glitchy slow

This is one of the worst team management apps I’ve used and I’ve used a lot. The messaging is glitchy, half of the time it won’t load content, it constantly resets/reloads. If you are looking for an app to manage your club or team I would recommend to look elsewhere. SprocketSports has a lot of potential if the problems can be fixed.

Horrible support and missing basic features

I am a head coach. My league forced all teams to use SprocketSports. It’s horrible and has made the league look completely disorganized. Just yesterday, the league asked why the RSVP function wasn’t working, and was told by support that there is no RSVP function yet. Why would coaches use this without RSVP? I also can’t insert home vs away, arrival time or any game details. Now, a week into the seasons, I have overloaded my parents with emails and need send yet another and get them all to sign up for a different app. I have no idea why the league switch to SprocketSports. It only has 19 reviews as of right now and most of them say it doesn’t work correctly.

Adequate but game clockis near useless

TeamSnap is better in just abput every way, but this is at least adequate.

The exception is the clock. There is no way to set the time, adjust it, etc. Logging goal scorer is nice but there is no feature to look at aggregated stats.

I gave it a year to see these things improve but other than cosmetics SprocketSports is largely unchanged. Has potential, but needs more dev support.

Difficult to use

There are several problems with this application:

text boxes do not wrap words when composing messages making it look while you write a message you misspelled a word.

You cannot copy messages so if someone shares something like a phone number you can't copy it and use it elsewhere.

Text sizes ignore phone user preferences

I persistently have an increasing number of alerts I cannot acknowledge in the schedule.

By default message notficiations are suppressed when notifications are enabled for thr app so you do not know when someone messages you.

When notifications are enabled I will receive a notification for a message only to find out that I can't see it for several minutes in the messages area.

Overall usability is not a consideration. I wish my son's sports team used a different platform.

Great for team alignment but still some kinks to works out.

First time using SprocketSports for my kids soccer teams.
It’s nice to have but updates are Dfntly needed.

1. It’s takes several clicks to get to where you need to go. Like chats or schedules. Especially with multiple kids in sports.
2. Photos. Do we really want to see the “like heart” from a parent whose child was in the picture but not on any other picture? Get rid of the like button.
Also, you can’t zoom or download the picture. Why even post one?
3. It’s not easy to view notes on the schedule. Some time it’s there and sometimes it’s not.

Overall it’s a good start but they should really better understand how the parent uses it

App never loads messages or calendar

Almost every time I open SprocketSports to view messages and calendar they never load. The load spinning icon just spins and spins and never loads. On several occasions I have not been able to find my sons next game or read messages from the coach. The only fix I have found is to uninstall and reinstall SprocketSports . Using iPhone 15 pro max. Not the easiest thing to do in areas of poor cell coverage to find a last minute field change. We were 20 minutes late to the game.

Scoring feature

I like the scoring feature in Team Snap much better. There is a timer, you get notifications, that chat is part of the same feed so you can say who scored.
This needs more work. And the score doesn’t show on the event when it’s over. So you have to go back into the live scoring to see how the game ended.
Not a fan so far of our club moving to SprocketSports.

Notifications

Notifications won’t work.

Clunky

Our team is new to using SprocketSports this year and compared to other team sports apps. I really dislike it. You have to go through a lot of different screens to get to the chats or the calendars. There’s constantly notifications that something been updated and you have to click through a bunch of screens to get to where the updates are and select those so that you can remove the notification and it seems to notify for every little thing. So I’m constantly in there, trying to clear out the notifications. It doesn’t seem to offer any additional functionality that’s useful above and beyond a normal team app and it’s way more clunky to use.

No icalendar link!

Am I dreaming? It’s 2023 and this sports scheduling platform DOES NOT HAVE A WAY TO EXPORT AN INTERNET CALENDAR.
My kid’s soccer club switched from TeamSnap to Sprocket; the lack of shareable calendar is a huge downgrade. While I couldn’t care less which platform they use, at least give me a usable calendar that I can merge with my work and family calendar in outlook or on the iPhone!

Outrageous fees

My son’s club converted from TeamSnap to Sprocket Sports, claiming the Sprocket app was “better” since you could also pay fees through SprocketSports . However, it appears SprocketSports charges a large fee just to facilitate the fee payment. $40 fee to be charged $2,650. What a ripoff. Still no answer for where that fee goes.

Bad app

A Very buggy and annoying app,I can’t understand why Seattle Celtic couldn’t just use team snap

Not user friendly

The sprocket app has been a pain to deal with. It’s not easy to navigate, half the time SprocketSports doesn’t load properly, and as of the latest update message notifications are not being sent. I’ll receive and email saying that a message was sent and when you to to SprocketSports nothing. This is particularly a big issue when you have multiple children playing in the same tournament. Additionally games have been delayed or cancelled due to weather and we were unable to communicate with our teams due to SprocketSports not working properly. I hope developers find a solution for this.

Very basic features require too many steps

How do you delete messages from your view? The fact I have to reach out for something so simple is not a good sign. The other huge annoying issue is the micro lag for the schedule to load.

So so

Need to add a timer to SprocketSports . Also randomly signs you out all the time

Scorekeeper is too limited.

You’ve got to come up with a way to set the time and reset the time. And to adjust scores in the event of an errant tally. See teamsnap for how to do it right.

Missing messages

App did an update and direct messages disappeared. Lost team communication/notes halfway through the season. Not great!

Glitchy

App is OK. I am a coach and was told I needed to use this. There always seems to be issues whether it is SprocketSports crashing or not opening. Just today I was trying to send a photo / screenshot to my team and each time I tried to do that SprocketSports crashes and closes.

App bugs

It is annoying how many times I have to log into SprocketSports , but the biggest issue I have is anytime I go not SprocketSports , it doesn’t take me to the current date. I have to scroll from the first inputted item from month ago to scroll to todays date. This needs to be looked at and fixed.

App bugs

SprocketSports keep signing me out every other day. Also needs a Face ID unlock for signing in.

A few small tweaks would make a huge difference

Hey Sprocket developers: please add a thumbs down reaction so team families can vote on things (or express disapproval toward that one annoying parent). Also, folks who used to be staff/managers but are no longer still land on the staff page by default. Otherwise it’s a pretty good app!

Messages

Every time I go to messages or click the flag for a message sent, it goes to a message from weeks ago and I have to scroll allll the way to the bottom to get to the current message. Please fix!

App notifications don’t work

Notifications don’t show up on my phone as a banner or tag on SprocketSports itself. I don’t see message notifications until I log into SprocketSports .
It would also be nice to get a notification when calendar updates are made to existing events.

Notifications

Worked ok until latest update, now I don’t receive push notifications anymore.

Team chat glitchy - freezes

If a link is shared in the team chat (to tourney details) and a user clicks the link but then comes back to chat, SprocketSports is freezes and you need to close out. Cannot scroll history without freezing.

Glitchy

SprocketSports has potential and I love some of the features (being able to link league schedules to SprocketSports ), but it gets hung up all the time. Right now I’m trying to read a message, but when I click messages it just spins and spins. This happens all the time, and not just with the messages, sometimes I can’t access the schedule for the same reason (spinning and never opens).

Fix the updates

So often I see the schedule or messages have been updated but when I click in to view, it just sits trying to update. Frustrating, please fix the issue!

Concerns Addressed

UPDATE: The developer addressed the issues in my original review.

I enjoyed SprocketSports when I first used it. It wasn’t perfect, but it was more than enough for schedules and chats. I wish there was a way to invite other family members to see games, but other than that, it served me well. The most recent update made it so I can’t even log in. This is only an issue for Apple users. SprocketSports works fine for Android users. I hope they hire a developer who understands how to utilize Apple as well. I’m currently in the dark for changes to practices/other announcements. This is not a viable option for teams as it stands.

Clear Improvement

I was able to register my player so easily! A clear improvement from what we were using previously. Also, I love being able to communicate with all my coaches in one spot.

Great app

It is a great app please do not listen to the head coach guy

Great user experience

It’s such an easy app to navigate and I love being able to manage and see all of my teams, users and communications!

Nice to see Club Info

It’s great that SprocketSports provides Club info and registrations and not just the Team schedule/chat. I just registered my kid for his team quickly via SprocketSports and then also was able to access recent Club updates as well. Also, it’s very quick and easy to click through to Team Schedules and to see RSVPs and Team Chats.
