There isn’t actually a compare function. It scans the barcode and then you have to do your own searching each individual source to find prices. Also, the scanner isn’t even as good as using the camera. Worthless app

I downloaded BarcodeScanner on my new iPad Pro and and as soon as I start it up it wants me to buy it! Seriously? Then it gives me the free version and then I try to scan the code and it is impossible to scan the barcode. Camera is zoomed too far in and then no matter where I put the bar code it is impossible to get it lined up with the brackets. I will be looking for another barcode scanner.
