Seems like a good app, but ~$25 a year is laughable

I wanted a simple protein tracker app, I don’t care about full macros yet, just protein. I was hoping for an app that I could easily add my intake but having a few set ingredients I use daily. The free version has access to One “group” that I used for my morning protein shake, and that’s it. I have to subscribe to add more “groups”, and can only add three “favorites” for easy adding. The “free” version’s functionality is of little use because so much is behind an overpriced pay wall.

I would pay $10 yearly just for the convenience, but when other apps offer more functionality and similar ease of use, I can’t justify paying that much for ProteinTracker, which others (who I agree with) have stated should probably just be a “pay once” premium app, or cheaper at the very least.

To the developer: Maybe add a “Basic” tier that allows for unlimited favorites and groups for $5 or something. That way people can use your app for the simplicity and the basics, but also get more in depth info on their intake.

Have to pay to search any food etc.

Yeah you have to pay to search a food etc. Before the dev comes and claims that being bothered by that is unreasonable as I’ve seen they’ve done with others I’ll say this. While I acknowledge you put in work to make ProteinTracker , there’s other apps that have the same functionality including database and it’s free. So people’s expectations will match.

Okay, but could use improvements.

I like the idea of ProteinTracker. But comparing it to some of the other apps out there- The searching is not intuitive and the food database is small. Adding entries is frustrating because you don’t know if you’re adding the right product or not. Brands are missing and it’s kind of a mystery. Could definitely use improvements!

Simple, exactly what you need and nothing more

I like ProteinTracker. The price is very fair for the subscription — other apps want to charge the same amount every month. It’s pretty bare bones, but in a world of excess and bloat, especially with tech, we need more of that. Sometimes less is more. ProteinTracker does what it’s intended to do with no gimmicks. The search feature is easy to use and super convenient.

Easy to use and focused on its main task

Surprisingly quick and easy, straightforward tool that I’m using multiple times a day without a learning curve or frustration. Wow. This is what consumer apps should be. Well worth the cost of the subscription to me.

Clean Simple App that does exactly what I want

I’ve been using this for a few days and it’s exactly what I needed.

I don’t want all the complexity and fancy features that the other food logging apps contain.

Great

Very simple and no glitches I’ve been using it for a few months on and off. If you’re just looking to track protein I highly recommend

Exactly what I needed!

ProteinTracker is exactly what I needed! No more, no less! I've looked at several protein trackers and they all have time consuming steps that include more than protein tracking. ProteinTracker is a steal for its simplicity alone.

User friendly

I love the bar scan option for finding food items bought in packages

It learns

ProteinTracker is pretty great at searching for things. Even some take out, and if I have something on a daily basis and or I manually create an entry with my own calculations for protein, I can save that as a favorite and it is readily available to add the next time. Adding a new item defaults to a 100 g serving but that is easy to change and keep the serving size for the next time. I like ProteinTracker more than I thought, and I’ve only been using it for a few days now.

Great app!

Does what is says it’s gonna do! I do wish that you didn’t have to pay in order to access some features. But, if all you want to do is make sure your getting enough protein every day, this is a great app!

Easy

If all you want to do is keep track of your protein intake, this does a good job. I don’t pay for the database, but it’s easy to just look at the nutrition label of what I’m cooking. It’s helped me get adequate protein in without feeling like I’m going through the stress of counting all my calories.

Simple and fantastic!

I started using ProteinTracker a couple weeks ago, and I signed up for the yearly subscription a few days ago. It’s so simple and quick! Every other macro tracker is so danged complicated. To add an entry, just type a name and the amount of protein in grams, and done. No “type in a boatload of ingredients” or “look up somebody else’s not quite right recipe”. Totally worth the download.

Great for me being a beginner

I love the simplicity of ProteinTracker. I’m just now starting my fitness journey with putting on more muscle, but I don’t eat the amount of protein I need daily just relying on intuitive eating. Most apps are way too in-depth and daunting as a beginner with the Marcos and percentages right in your face as you open ProteinTracker . I felt like I wasn’t doing anything right or like im failing before I begin by not hitting all 3 daily macro %’s a day off the rip, when really I just want to make sure I’m getting my protein (as someone thats already in decent shape with not much body fat to lose). The price for pro is also a good deal in my opinion!

Useful and Simple

I’ve been trying to find an easy way to track protein while I build muscle. Other apps are cluttered with other types of calories, but this one is simple and streamlined just for protein. Its Pro plan is also affordable. I recommend it.

Incredible for beginners!

Great app if you’re just beginning your fitness journey and all you want to focus on is protein intake. Super easy to use. Very intuitive. Moving on from it since I’ll now be tracking calories and macros in a different app. But loved using this one for the past year.

Fantastic!!

I’m enjoying using this protein tracker app. I’ve tried others but they were more than involved than what I needed or wanted. I wanted something simple, a plug and play app, to track my protein intake. The yearly subscription fee is well worth the money. You can also pay monthly.

Thank you!

User friendly love this app

I really like ProteinTracker! I’ve tried several others, including some of the most popular. But they have so many options and are hard to navigate. ProteinTracker is wonderfully simplistic 10 out of 10 highly recommend.

Perfect

Perfect for what I was looking for. I was using MFP and found it way overly complicated, and its goal system didn't even work. I opened ProteinTracker, put in my protein goal, and that was it. Huge win. Has the same "scan food" feature as MFP which is insanely helpful. The "favorite" feature is wonderful as well. And I love the widget. Thank you Protein Pal😎

Happy this exists

Needing to track my protein intake in a simple format. This is it. I appreciate the developer’s effort. Maybe at some point I’ll purchase the premium version. Thank you and well done!

Disgusted with administration of this app. I want to cancel before the free period is up but there is no way of canceling. It says ‘go to apple setting to cancel’ but it doesn’t show up I assume until you stat to pay. Ripped off!!
