Uh...help?

I saw an ad for this on FB so I downloaded it, but I can’t even create an account. I tap on Continue with Apple and...nothing. Nothing happens. It just sits there. When I tap Manta Support link here in the iTunes Store, it just takes me to the front page of the this app website which also seems to take issue with either my iPad or Safari, I’m not sure which; I can’t scroll to the bottom of the main page and I don’t see anything that looks like a link to customer support at the top. I wanted to read some of these comics but...🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Can’t seem to get anywhere with the website OR Manta . I’ll change my rating if you fix this. 😒😒😒

Edit: I gave up on trying to use “Continue with Apple” and used a google login instead, and that worked. Why is the Apple login offered if it doesn’t work..? Anyways, my comments about the website remain unchanged, and I never heard a peep from support, so...🤷‍♀️ After using Manta for a few days my only complaint is as an iPad Pro user. The thing doesn’t use my entire screen like the other comic apps I have. I expanded it from what I assume is the phone version, but it’s still a strip down the middle of my screen with a good two or 3 inches of space on either side. Get with the times, guys. 4 stars since it def ain’t perfect...but I do like paying a subscription fee vs per comic (tho I expect that will severely limit what comics you manage to get for your app).

WORTH IT

A while ago, a this app ad popped up on one of my social media’s with a few images from the story Under the Oak Tree and of course I immediately downloaded Manta the learn more. Cut to me like a half hour later, majorly annoyed that I was already hitting a paywall. I decided to cave to the premium monthly fee, telling myself that I would just do it for a month to read a bunch of the stories. Then I could cancel it and periodically pay for a month to check in if I wanted.

Now it’s over a month later and I’m so happy with the service that I have no plans of stopping it any time soon. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that the fee is just a monthly flat rate. I’m familiar with the Webtoon method that makes you pay for coins so you can buy episodes. This is so much better though!! For four bucks a month I can binge read all the stories I want and there’s so much great content! I’m always finding new stories to read and already have several that I follow faithfully. The art is amazing, they’re super fun, and it’s a great way to kill some time on your phone.

Highly recommend Manta!

Great value for money

Highly recommend Manta for those like me who don't have time to save coins or pearls and who just want something to read when they get a chance. For one drink at Starbucks, you can have a whole month of reading. :D I noticed that no one recently had reviewed Manta, so I wanted to share my experience. I love Manta!
I have several manga/manhwa/manhua apps and like all of them to varying degrees. But this takes the cake on my busy life. A frustration I have with other apps is that I am constantly saving my pearl/coins/ spending real money to view them. On some apps once something is completely published, you then have to pay to reread (or finish reading), which is sad and annoying. Manta is different! It is a one time pay and You Get All!
The content has definitely grown since the last reviewer in March, but the beauty of this system is that you can cancel and resubscribe at any point. So simply put, if you read through it all (because you can!) cancel and come back in a few months for more. You Can!
It is a good price for several great stories. I got Manta for "Under the Oak Tree" and that series alone is worth what I paid. They have lots of options on Genre as well as a whole completed section that you can binge through while waiting for uploads.
Lots of different styles and the worry free enjoyment can't be beat. I wouldn't pay more, but it is definitely worth $4 a month.
Enjoy!

Worth it.

I downloaded Manta for ONE specific series that I wanted to read without having to spend money for individual chapters/episodes. For $4 I was able to completely read that one series and then go on to read OTHER incredible series. It goes without saying that this is an incredible deal. There’s a good variety of romance comics and they’re all very high quality in terms of story and art. I really can’t fully express how good of a deal this is.

To all the people complaining about having to pay, I’m guessing that you’re probably not yet old enough to have a credit card/digit payment method. If that’s the case, then you’re probably not even old enough to read most of the series to begin with so...🤷‍♀️.

If the devs want, they can implement a 1 time payment method for users who want to use Manta without a subscription, that way some individuals can ask for their parents to pay or they can use physical money to buy a prepaid card and use that to make a 1 time payment for a single months use (the price would probably be bumped above 4 but it would still be a good deal imo)

To (the probably small) portion of people who can pay but simply don’t want to, please consider how much work goes into making these comics by the artists. It’s a lot of work and they deserve to be payed for that work, especially if it’s of the quality that’s being presented in Manta.

To the developers of Manta, thank you!👏

Get this app, the stories are SO GOOD.

I normally never leave reviews, but I feel Manta absolutely deserves one.

For the longest time, I haven’t been into “subscription based” comics like these (think Tapas, Webtoon, etc.) because I had to pay for each comic (and its chapter) I wanted to read. Today, I was coincidentally advertised to on Instagram with a (pretty corny) ad about “Under the Oak Tree.” Not going to lie, the synopsis wasn’t super great (sorry, marketing person!), but the artwork was gorgeous and I checked out the page before downloading Manta . Then, I discovered it’s $3.99 per month for UNLIMITED access to ALL stories.

Under the Oak Tree, contrary to what was in the ad, is a phenomenal story so far. I’m addicted, and I’m exploring other comics as well. Thank you for this. You’ve successfully converted me to a paying subscriber. Keep up the great work, and I’m sharing your app with my entire following and my friends!

Heavily Censored: what’s the reason!?

I don’t understand what Manta keep licensing mature and adult stories and then heavily censoring them to the point where they sometimes don’t make any sense. Why are you trying to make adult themes and stories accessible to younger audiences. They are not the target audience either make a section of the website for adults like Tappytoon and Lezhin. Or just don’t translate those stories because you’re not doing the other any favors because then people will go and find the version that they want and translate it and uploaded illegally on website because that’s how I’m gonna to read totems realm and any other story that’s been heavily chopped up and censored by Manta. I actually have no problem paying for stories I pay for Tappytoon, Lezhin and WEBTOON regularly. But I am an adult and the stories that I tend to re-have adult things and contacts and have a nice sensor really takes away from the story. You can go online to certain websites and constantly see comments or complaints about Manta and how they are censoring these really good stories. Just pick up the Katie stories and leave the adult stuff for the other apps. stay in your lane

Great app!

Perfect for people who love to read manga and love a range of different types of them. The romance is really blooming and there’s a lot of awesome dramas to pick from and so much more. Manta is truly amazing you only pay like five bucks a month and you get at least 100 or so or more even of manga to read. It’s easy to use and easy to learn how to add to your library and such. I don’t know why people are giving Manta so much hate but I find it amazing. All the stories are just terrific. I am grateful to have stubbled upon Manta. The $5 bucks a month is more than worth it. If you don’t want to pay the five bucks then you’re obviously not gonna get the full potential of Manta. But I mean come on five bucks that’s no biggie. I’m a major fan of manga so I find it way worth it. The stories got me laughing, crying, and rooting for the characters. Definitely give it a try I say.

LOVE THIS!😍😍😍

Pros:
-Price(sooo much cheaper compared to tapas, tappytoon, pocket comics): I usually spend almost $100 a month just to read a couple webtoons and not even ALL of the chapters(most of them are ongoing) the subscription plan is AMAZING! Please keep this price the same and don’t get rid of it! I can read any comic now without worrying about coins and what not.
-easy layout
-good collection
-“coming soon” tab is a genius idea: who wouldn’t want to find out soon to be featured comics?
-more chapters: “Collide” is updated till ch. 34 in pocket comics, but in this app, they have up to ch. 120 and 8 spin offs uploaded!!! WOW! 😲

Cons:
-limited number of series: I’m really in to romance isekai comics and they don’t really have those. (You don’t need a subscription to see which comics they have)

To the developers:
please get in touch with the artist and upload isekai romance(tapas and Tappytoon has great selection) please get those comics. I don’t even mind if we have to pay $4.99 if you guys had those! You guys could even do different subscription tiers if those other comics are too expensive to host. I honestly don’t mind paying $9.99 per month if you guys had a great amount of comics! Thank you for this amazing app! I love it! I love you!❤️

PLEASE MAKE IT SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WAIT!!!

I read an episode in like ten minutes and I love the stories on here, so when it gets to the point that I have to wait a WHOLE WEEK just to get ONE episode that ticks me off, I mean I’m already paying to read I may as well read when I want to! At least make it so you get two a week, I can’t take this much longer this app PLEASE PLEASE change! Other than that definitely 5 stars, the story’s are great and I spesifically love totems realm. It’s my all time fav. As far as the money goes I think it’s for a good price and I’m glad that you can still read some story’s even if you are not paying. But when you are paying like I mentioned earlier once you get to a point in the book you have to wait a whole week just to get one episode. Which you read quickly cause it’s a comic. If you agree make a review saying that change it maybe they will.

So Far So Good

I have found quite a few stories so far that I either enjoyed reading in their entirety or am now imaptiently and excitedly waiting for (usually) weekly updates! One complaint, and I hope the developer takes note, is that when looking to find new stories, you can only search one tag at a time. For example, if I want to browse completed stories, I can’t choose to browse completed romance stories or completed drama/romance stories.

Why wouldn’t we able to search for stories with any combination of tags? It’s ridiculous to slog through one category at a time when I could be narrowing my search to exactly what I’m looking for, especially if I want to find stories that have already been finished in a genre that I enjoy. This makes finding a new story to immerse myself in, and justify spending a monthly subscription, a real chore.

Great app in the making

I’m pleased so far with Manta and it’s content, taking into consideration that it is a new app. The interface that exists is clear and easy to use, and the stories and art are high-quality. The English translations are good in particular, I’ve noticed. I also appreciate the value I get for the monthly subscription. Other reviews have already mentioned many of the additions I would recommend to the developers, but I would like to strongly suggest one thing:

Please, please, please put a content warning for sexual assault and other sensitive topics (suicide, self-harm, etc.) in the summaries of stories that contain them. The sexual assault was the one I noticed, and I wish I had been warned beforehand. It wouldn’t take much, and it would make many people with experiences with sexual assault, etc. more comfortable and more welcome on your app.

Keep up the good work!

Horrible App & Customer Service

The customer service is horrible. I paid for a subscription and the next day it was asking me if I wanted to sign up for their subscription as if I hadn’t already the day before. I reached out to them for a refund with several screenshots proving that the day I purchased the subscription and what it displayed on my account page in Manta after my purchase. It wasn’t until I actually cancelled my subscription that it would reflect that I had subscribed on the account page by telling me when the subscription would end. They kept insisting that I was trying to access my subscription through a different account when that wasn’t the case I sent them multiple screenshots proving that it was the same account which proved that it was an app issue. They are still insisting that it’s an account issue when that’s not the case. At the top of all the screenshots were the same email address. Don’t waste your money the customer service is horrible. Webtoon is better.

Can’t get enough

TikTok pushed the adds for Manta in my face constantly so I looked into it and thought “what the heck. $4 a month and I’m able to read awesome stories with beautiful art work. Absolutely.” At first I couldn’t figure out how Manta worked and o was really only interested in one story from the beginning but now, like four days into having Manta I feel like it can just get better and better from here. The waiting is the hardest part. I blew through a few stories- one taking me all night and now I see that’s it’s on Hiatus. So that is a thing. But there’s still so many books to dig through. Also these titles pop up on Goodreads so if you are doing yearly changes like I am, these can count towards it. Super awesome!

Really good for a new webtoon app

So I know Manta is still pretty new, and in my opinion it’s not bad for a new webtoon app. I really like the subscription system and I wished the other webtoon apps like Tappytoon, tapas, and LezhinComics had something similar to that. However, I did notice that some of the webtoons that are available in these other platforms are a little behind in updates on this app. Like for example on this app a certain webtoon would still be on hiatus while on the other apps, it has already started updating again. Also, since this is still a new app, the webtoon library is very limited. I am noticing that there is now a ‘Coming Next’ page so I’m excited for that. Overall I think Manta has a lot of potential to be big, but to do that the webtoon library would need to be a lot bigger.

I look forward to future updates!

Good! With Suggestions

I love Manta . The storylines are quite good and so is the art, and you get an incredible amount of content for the low subscription fee (they have to make money somehow!). The only complaints I have are the English translations and the individual chapter lengths. I find the chapter lengths to be very short-like I’m patiently waiting for the next upload for a week or two, but when it comes I finish the chapter in like 5 minutes. I’d rather have chapters released in batches or only completed series put up there than this, or have the individual chapters be longer. And, I hope that after fundraising, the translations get better! I find them choppy/somewhat lacking at times, and I think the beautiful panels and art styles would be better supported with sophisticated writing/translation.

Toxic portrayal and treatment of female mcs

Almost every comic sends a negative message and gives a feel bad vibe. So many examples where women are treated like meat etc and then the comic romanticizes the toxic relationships. Also, whenever something good is about to happen the women are made to feel guilty for wanting a good thing and are punished for anything bad that happens in a series. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt and say the series develop into something better, but i have stuck around in way too many titles and found the same conclusion: the storyline is toxic and leaves me upset. It’s not just one or two series either. It’s like one of the signature patterns in almost every series they have that is popular.

Some of the only positive comments i can say is that the art is something to appreciate and if the series are up your alley (i personally don’t see the appeal though…) then the price of $4 a month unlimited content is an absolute deal you will not find elsewhere.

Not for young readers but worth the money for adults who like Anime!

I usually don’t subscribed to an Anime story sites at all but I became hooked to several stories. Under the Oak Tree is my favorite and I cannot wait until the 2nd part to the series comes out!! I am interested into several other stories too! I would NOT recommend this site to young readers due to the romance scenes. I have seen Under The Oak Tree on other sites and this app does tone down the language. But just call me old fashioned for putting a parental warning in my review. A lot of the stories have sex scenes. But as an adult I like the stories I am into currently and would recommend this site to adults who like anime. I also say it is worth the money in my opinion!

Pretty good app until…

I really enjoy Manta, if you are looking for some cheesy romance or stories with plot Manta has a good selection. That said there are some features that I would have liked to seen.

First I would have liked to seen links to the creators social (if the have they have socials) to support them there.

Second, I would like to have seen more definitive updates of stories. What I mean by this is if a story ended it’s season a while ago, I would have liked to seen say…an estimated release date for example, of course if that is possible for the creators. If things are taking longer than expected, a hiatus announcement.

Lastly, this might just be a personal touch but I would have liked to see comments, I personally like to see comments because we can see each other’s reaction, thoughts and criticisms if we have them. I do understand however that comments aren’t the best thing since there can be a lot of negativity and/or toxicity.

With all that said Manta is well formatted has a good selection of stories, it’s a good pass time for those who are looking to kill time or relax. I just wish it could have a more open creator to reader channel.

Very happy with this app

I downloaded Manta because of an add. For once I am not disappointed! I just binged two hours of stories and can't wait to read more. The stories are interesting with great art.
The thing that sets this apart from other story apps is you don't have to pay ridiculous sums of money for tickets to read each part. This is only 3.99 a month which is honestly a steal compared to other apps. I love reading manga and have a hard time finding full series at the store. This is much more cost effective, and I can read any time anywhere. I suggest this to others who are looking for an app where they can read as much manga as they want (and are aware they will have to pay).

By

Ready to purchase

I don’t have a review yet but I have a question..How do you search for what you’re looking for or is everything that you have already displayed on the front page? Also if I buy the subscription, will it work if I’m reading from the website? Also do you have mature versions?

By

Really great so far!

I only downloaded Manta yesterday, but so far I love it! Being able to read a lot of different stories at a minimal price is great!

I did notice that there is not a search bar option, so I would just recommend that the developers put something like that in in their next update.

iPad user here 😪

The collection of manwha’s are great but, i wish it is available in ipad. Its like instagram were you have to zoom it. Over all the experience is great.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for!

I’ve been looking for a webcomic app that I could binge read with! There’s a large good collection of comics to read too! Not just all the same “reincarnated in another world” stuff some webcomic apps mainly have. The shorter stories have been refreshing too!

The only things I would say that need fixing are:
- a way to search for stories
- remove ones from your “read” list if you don’t like or are complete with them
- a little longer descriptions (but granted the one liners do encourage you to pick it up and read anyway so I’m a little mixed of that!)

Keep up the great work! I’m excited to see what will come on Manta in the future!

Great!!

Love the contents available on Manta. Can’t wait for more!🥳

I love Manta Comics. It saved me from over stress and depression. Reading the comics here made me want to dream about the future, believe in new beginnings, and live my life to the fullest. It made me want to believe in love again. I am very thankful that I found this. I want to thank the creators, authors, writers, editors and everyone who made Manta Comics happen. Love lots, salute and more episode and stories to come. 😊

I read a reported issue and It is right. I really loved reading on this app but when I wanted to continue it said that I had to buy it . But I can't afford it every month. So I think we should be able to earn coins by ads and their should be a way the the people who love reading can read free on this app . I know their are few free comics or books too but what about the books that are not free like under the oak tree which I desperately want to continue reading but I can't. This is very sad for me.

Beth   2 years ago

The app won’t accept my Apple Pay. Can there be a different option to pay like putting in card info on the app? It would be much easier.

Skylar   3 years ago

I love it! but I’m 14 and my parents won’t pay for it, so I think that there should be an option to buy the chapters with coins and you can earn coins by watching videos or something.🤷‍♀️

The app won't accept my google pay, says there's an error.
