Crime Junkie Fan Club Reviews

The ONLY reason I’m giving this one star is for the bugs. I have listened to every episode available on Apple Podcast but wanted more content so I thought what better time to binge old episodes? I also paid for the annual membership where I got the whole backlog of content that I hadn’t been able to listen to before. However, the bugs are insane! CrimeJunkieFanClub crashes like 12 times before I can ever make it through one single episode. It’s so frustrating. Like commenters before me, you have to search through and find what episode you were on AND the part that you were at in that episode. It doesn’t pick up where it leaves you off when it kicks you out. It drains your battery in no time so make sure you have a charger with you. I also tried messaging within CrimeJunkieFanClub before leaving a one star review because it’s not the podcast I dislike or the hosts. It’s just CrimeJunkieFanClub itself. I don’t even care that it’s the only place to listen to new episodes. I’m just so over having to restart whatever episode I was on (if I can find it) when CrimeJunkieFanClub crashes on me. It happens when I’m connected to WiFi, when I’m not connected to WiFi, when I’ve downloaded the episode, when I haven’t. Doesn’t matter. I’m lucky if I make it through one full episode without it crashing and in order to make it through one it will have definitely crashed several times before. I hate it.

I’m so disappointed, yesterday I joined Patreon at the lowest tier for five dollars a month and I was hoping to have access to the last year of content that I have not listened to (the bonus episodes). Well I signed up got the new app, and discovered that with my five dollar Patreon membership I do not have access to any of the past bonus episodes, only the ones from today on. In order to get the past episodes I have to spend $250 for an annual membership. That is highway robbery and it is not right. I also do not like having a separate app. I listen to all of my podcasts through an app called Castro which recognizes all of my Patreon feeds. I keep everything organized; I only have to have one app, I’ve been having trouble with not having enough room on my phone lately so I’ve had to offload a bunch of apps, so the fact that I have to download another app just to listen to one podcast is very frustrating. I just signed up two days ago now for the Patreon and I’m canceling it. The last time I signed up for Crime Junkie’s Patreon which was probably one and a half years ago I had access to all of the back episodes. I’m sorry but I just don’t think that a years worth of one bonus episode a month is worth $250. Sorry crime junkie.

I love the show and I really like the concept of CrimeJunkieFanClub even though I don’t like that every single thing on life now needs a separate app! Anyway, my main issue with CrimeJunkieFanClub is that is nothing like a podcast app should be, it restarts every single time you get out and in again and it doesn’t keep playing the episode you were in!! It is sooo annoying! I listen in the car so every time I stop to do something and come back I need to try to find the episode again, and even worst, I need to figured where in the episode it was playing because it doesn’t remember where I was!! On top of that, if you want to start playing the episodes from the beginning, good luck, you’ll pass hours looking where did you leave it last time. On top of that CrimeJunkieFanClub keeps crashing for no reason and you need to start all over again looking for the episode you left! I literally have started 4 episodes and for whatever reason I put my phone down for 1 min and could never find it again!! There are too many episodes to sort through all of them every single time you get in CrimeJunkieFanClub . Oh, and when you play it from oldest to newest it keeps playing from newest to oldest, so you need to go back and find the next episode up in the list.

I was skeptical of getting CrimeJunkieFanClub Bc I enjoy listening to the podcast and have no issues just using Apple podcasts to listen. I went ahead and downloaded it honestly just to help Ash and Brit by getting downloads lol I am in love! I love how all the pictures and comments are right there with the story. I always want to see the pics they are talking about but if I’m listening to an old episode while I’m catching up-it is such a pain to go scroll through a years worth of social media posts trying to find the pics for the episode. Even current episodes-I just don’t like having to go to socials to find pictures so I never see them. Now they are right there when you click on the episode and so easy to get to. I didn’t realize how much it really adds to the story to be able to see the people they are talking about! It is super user friendly! This was a great idea Ash and Brit! Thank you for always bringing the best content and actually trying to help and not just telling the stories.

I have listened to Crime Junkie for quite some time; then they expanded into Audiochuck and a plethora of other shows which I listen to as well. CrimeJunkieFanClub is very well designed! I love the black/purple color scheme and the fact that the photos are RIGHT there as the story goes along makes it an incredibly smooth process to listen, see and even read about the case being told. The audio quality is astounding I RARELY have an issue with CrimeJunkieFanClub . The community is extremely friendly and more of a Family. Anyone can belong here, talk about cases as well as answer polls. I encourage any and every true crime enthusiast to join! Be Weird, Be Rude, Stay Alive ;)

CrimeJunkieFanClub is not at all user friendly. If you are listening to old episodes, you have to scroll all. the. way. back. every time you want to find the episode you were listening to. I drive a lot which is why I listen to podcasts but it’s not at all functional for me to use CrimeJunkieFanClub because I can’t keep scrolling. You download episodes, but there’s no tab to find the list of episodes that you have downloaded. I was hoping there was so it would be easier to find what I want. It’s so irritating to have to also scroll through a giant list of “locked” episodes too. I also was really disappointed to find that previous bonus episodes are only unlocked if you pay annually. It almost doesn’t feel worth the cost. Other Patreon feeds I support unlock access to the entire backlog even at their lowest tier. I may be cancelling just based on the inconvenience factor.

I love Crime Junkie so much!! I’ve been listening for years now and am so glad there’s a new way to get Patreon content because the website was really annoying sometimes and I never really ended up using it. Now I can binge all the ones I never got to listen to 🤩 The one thing about CrimeJunkieFanClub that I would love to see fixed is that after a certain amount of time of keeping the podcast on pause, it refreshes so you have to find the episode again. It keeps the place of where you are in the episode which is nice though. It’s easy enough just to look up the name of whoever the case was about in the search bar, but it’d be nice if it didn’t refresh. All in all I’m so glad they made an app!! 😍😊

i was worried at first because so many reviews talk about the flaws (crashing in middle of episodes, can’t get previous episodes, unable to leave app/pause bc it starts over) , but none of them have happened to me. it’s perfect, the fact that it has the discussion thread, the episode pics/documents RIGHT there (no more going on laptop and searching to see them!) it’s like they took every single suggestion ever made and perfected their app to make it so easy to manage. i know that they’ll work hard to fix any issues that people are talking about because it’s clear that they really listened to what people needed/wanted in CrimeJunkieFanClub! very thorough, can’t praise it, or them, enough ◡̈

Love the fact that Ash and Britt put together such a comprehensive, immersive app experience for listeners, but as a member of the fan club for many years, I really hate having to listen exclusively through CrimeJunkieFanClub . Can’t we have the option to listen through CrimeJunkieFanClub AND through Apple Podcasts? It’s beyond frustrating to not be able to access fanclub episodes in my normal podcast feed, and CrimeJunkieFanClub is still quite glitchy (not at all their fault, but such a bummer to have to restart episodes every time it crashes). Please let us access the episodes through multiple platforms! I promise we will still use and enjoy CrimeJunkieFanClub even if we listen through Apple Podcasts!

I have enjoyed this podcast until today. Y’all seem pretty intelligent so that makes me wonder how you thought the episode you did was acceptable. You could have done this episode any week of the year but you picked to do it this week. For a day where we are supposed to honor our veterans for their sacrifice and y’all went and made some of them look like murders. Why would you think that bringing awareness to one by placing judgment of guilt on the others was an acceptable episode. They claim to be cleared but you drug them through the mud. There are plenty of stories out there about civilians who have murdered military members. But you picked one to make sure the military didn’t look too good. My husband is a retired Marine and even he said that was just a huge slap in the face. Shame on you Ashley

I love this podcast and app. I binged every available free episode within 2 months so when I finished those I HAD to have more! It wasn’t in my budget to join the top yearly tier but I am still very happy with the amount of previously locked content I got with my subscription level. (Not to mention hundreds of free episodes I had already listened to!) CrimeJunkieFanClub works wonderfully for me, it’s been a month and not a single issue with play or quality. I love the picture scroll feature so it matches up with whatever part of the story you’re listening too. It’s very clean and I highly recommend it!

I can see the appeal of having a Crime Junkie app but I’m not a fan. While the discussion board is nice in theory, I prefer to use Reddit or other discussion boards that I frequently visit for additional topics. I do enjoy having easy access to the pictures that correspond with each episode on CrimeJunkieFanClub but that’s really only feature of CrimeJunkieFanClub that I find to be useful. CrimeJunkieFanClub is glitchy and has shutdown repeatedly mid-listen on multiple occasions. When I want to listen to a podcast I automatically open my podcast app and look for new episodes of the pods I’m subscribed too. Because of CrimeJunkieFanClub i often forget about CJ entirely. I’ve found CrimeJunkieFanClub makes it more inconvenient to consume CJ And will be canceling my subscription so I can go back to just listening to the regular episodes on the podcast app. I

Pros - all episodes, announcements, and sources are all in one place, episodes are searchable.

Cons - app is still very buggy. Hopefully these will be fixed with updates.

I love that Crime Junkie has their own app now. It’s very easy to navigate and I love that it has a search function, as that’s something I always wanted with my other podcast apps.
The downside is that I keep having issues. First, it logged me out one day and then wouldn’t let me get back in even though I used both Patreon and CrimeJunkieFanClub password. Now that I’m finally logged back in, CrimeJunkieFanClub continually stops playing episodes about 5 minutes in. CrimeJunkieFanClub doesn’t shut down, it just closes out of the episode I’m listening to, even if there are no other apps running in the background.
I’ve also had issues with CrimeJunkieFanClub resetting the Pateon tier I’m subscribed to, which causes it to lock certain episodes even though I’m paying for them. It’s a pain to have to go back and resubscribe each time it decides to do this.
Once these bugs are fixed, I’m sure CrimeJunkieFanClub will be one of my favorites.

Have been listening to CJ and the girls for a while
now & have always loved the storytelling and attention to detail/appreciation and respect for the real stories they are educating us on, so will still give 3/5 stars for CrimeJunkieFanClub bc I love the OG podcast. 🖤
Not sure why all the content had to switch to an app though… it’s not the easiest to navigate and not as user friendly as I thought it would be. Also am being prompted to sign in every time I open it… that’s time consuming when I just want to play an episode with limited time. Would be awesome if the episodes + content for fan club members was still uploaded in the Patreon podcast for easier access.

CrimeJunkieFanClub glitches a lot and the tech team is very slow to fix the issues and seemingly does not care one bit. As a paying member of the fan club, it’s super frustrating to not be able to access what I’ve paid for. CrimeJunkieFanClub shorts out every few minutes, logging me out and losing my spot in whatever episode I was listening to. Additionally, CrimeJunkieFanClub itself is incredibly NON-user friendly. I love Crime Junkie, but I’m a bit upset at the tech team’s lack of care in emails and in general about fixing CrimeJunkieFanClub . It makes me feel like they’re just taking my money since I can’t even access CrimeJunkieFanClub and no one seems to care. UGH. Crime Junkie should refund September subscriptions if they want to keep their fan base. Feeling weirdly taken advantage of and then brushed off in this whole situation

I love you guys so much. You two, Ashley & Britt, have gotten me through some tough times when I just needed to relax & get out of my head for a while. I've listened to you guys talk so much that I feel like we're friends. It's like we're hanging out when I listen to your podcast because the reactions & the questions you have are 85% percent exactly what I was thinking & feeling. Thank you for all your time & dedication that you put into creating each episode.

I was a Patreon member for quite awhile and really liked it. I liked that we could listen on whichever podcast app we wanted to. More importantly, the ability to access backlogged episodes for a monthly fee. Forcing people to pay an expensive annual membership to access old episodes is so disappointing. The previous $20 a month was pretty expensive but at least we got to listen to older episodes. So many podcasts have patreons where you can listen to hundreds of old episodes for only $5-$10.

CrimeJunkieFanClub itself was buggy and not user friendly.

I absolutely love Crime Junkie, it’s my favorite true crime podcast and I’ve been to their live show and bought merch multiple times. However I’ve canceled my Patreon and I will just stick to the free episodes.

I love this podcast and have listened to almost every episode. BUT! CrimeJunkieFanClub needs work. Even a few simple updates like the ability to filter by downloaded episodes and episodes you have or not have listened to. Every time I open CrimeJunkieFanClub it resets to its initial state, so I lose the filter and prefer I was working on. Can we make a “next up” list too? Let us create our own playlists. It’s just so annoying and difficult the way it is right now. Please update!! I am still a member but would love a better user experience.

Love the show, hate CrimeJunkieFanClub . A perk of joining the fan club is getting to listen to episodes early, however CrimeJunkieFanClub never shows the new episodes. I get emails on Sunday telling me the new episode is available and when I go to listen, the episode pops up for less than 1 second before disappearing. I then I have to restart CrimeJunkieFanClub multiple times in an attempt to click the new episode before it disappears. It’s too much hassle, and I usually end up waiting the extra day to listen to it on Apple Podcast. It’s super annoying, especially when it comes to bonus episodes that are not available on other platforms.

In theory if you’re super into true crime and want to see all the pictures and things they have as you’re listening CrimeJunkieFanClub is great. I tend to listen to podcasts as I’m working or driving. I don’t really check all those things out unless
a case really strikes my fancy and I want more. The filters also leave a lot to be desired. I’d really rather listen on my Apple Podcasts app like I could before. I hate that there is no way to mark multiple episodes as listened at once or even a way to filter out episodes that have been listened to. I don’t see why we can’t have the option to continue listening as we were before and download CrimeJunkieFanClub if you want the extras it provides.

Honestly there is no one that tells it better then Ashley and Brit! They deeply care for the victims and tell the story how it is while advocating for Justice. I honestly have never downloaded an App as fast as this one!
