What a mess

Game does horrible explaining and teaching you actions. I have no idea how to use the caravan unit on my own cities and the devs “guide” doesn’t explain anything well. The economy of the game is horrendous and messy. AI will cancel any relations randomly and you can’t get a peace treaty after. It definitely seems like AI don’t have gold use, research, or even building times as they continuously spew units and cities nonstop. The zone of control is a stupid idea considering if you’re at war there shouldn’t be a limit to where you can move on enemy land. Selling buildings when you can’t afford them is also stupid considering you need almost all your cities constantly producing coinage just to stay afloat which causes you to fall behind military wise. Game is a waste of time

It’s just okay

I came to this game hoping for a fun recreation of Civ 2. I will say that the developers did recreate the Civ 2 experience very well - which makes sense because this game is based off FreeCiv.

But, unfortunately, I must leave a negative review. The UI and controls for this game are extremely clunky and basically make it so it’s not fun to play. They need to completely redesign the user interface keeping in mind that people are playing this on their phones. Also, I hate that it forces you to use landscape mode on your screen.

Anyway, all the buttons on the screen are way too small, and often times it’s even difficult to distinguish the UI from the game graphics itself.

Please put some serious effort into overhauling the UI and general user experience. This game has potential, but right now it’s a flop for me.

Weak defender error?

Dear developer: if two units are on the same square and they are attacked, it seems that the calculation uses the weakest unit to defend, then both units are usually lost. For example, an single archer attacked and defeated a catapult and healthy pikeman in forest. The notification said the catapult lost. There’s no reason the pikeman shouldn’t be used as the defender. Please look in to this possible bug, it seems pretty consistent, but doesn’t seem to effect cities. Also where is information describing trade routes? Thanks.

Terrific game But…

It’s a great game and really good idea, but The UI is a bit awkward and there’s not a whole lot of settings with game customization, However I do have hope for the game if the devs just put a bit more work into it, also a suggestion: If y’all can make it so you could not be apart of the game but watch it as a spectator that would be great!

Very faithful Civ 2 remake, needs just a few tweaks

Loving this game, all the depth and strategy of the orig Civ 2, with some improvements made on that! More nations to choose from, wonders are modified and there are some new ones.

Game crashes all the time but i think (hope) the devs are on it. Mostly seems to occur later in the game. Freights and trading didnt work for me at all, seems broken. Also, in one game the space race just flatout didnt trigger. Few suggestions, i wish you could view your city and see the buildings and wonders like in the orig game. Wish you could zoom on the map and i really, REALLY wish you could raze a city like in the orig game. When i go into conquest mode, im forced to keep the crappy enemy cities and wish i could just opt to destroy them.

Otherwise this game is great, nice job!

Decent if you know how to play

I think this would be a good game a fun game a great game if the tutorial was better than just two sentences there’s a whole lot of
stuff here and I can’t even access it because I don’t know how to
But if you do know how to play it then go ahead because it’s clear that the devs are working hard on the game

Great game but some suggestion

1. I would make an option to zoom out of the map and see more so you don’t have to scroll across the map to find all cities(Ik their is a city map but I’d still like this feature)
2. Make war easier, I feel the ai unit for the other countries are very stubborn. As an example I have killed 30 warriors without any deaths on my part and they will not except cease fire.
3. I believe we should have an option to create maps or at least edit the tiles on them(add food/ production tiles and etc.)
4. Make it easier on clarifying how to use certain things, I don’t understand how to use the nuke
5. Make it easier on certain maps, I have a hard time succeeding on any map other than the Iberian peninsula, Europe continent, and west of Mont Blanc. Every other map is very difficult to succeed without being last in everything on demographics
6. It’s a great game but just some minor fixes, and I would add more details to the city, and make workers less than 20 production

Great but needs improvement

I really enjoy this game but I have some suggestions to makeit better
1. Add a vassal/puppet system, like you pay gold every turn to have a puppet, but in turn you get free units for war (if you call for them and the vassal has enough gold) you can build in the puppets cities still though.
2. The difficulty is too hard, (even for the easiest mode) please try to make it easier.
3. Make it so augmented editor cities can have wonders without culture

Incorrect civilizations definition

I’d like to play as communist, but it’s defined incorrectly. Communism is worker ownership of the means of production. It is not state ownership of property. Communism is anarchism with collective ownership, and typically has no state. Countries like the USSR were authoritarian, and did not fit the actual definition of communist, which is by definition supposed to be democratic, and all production being owned by the people collectively. That being said, it should effect the rules differently for its benefits and drawbacks

This game is marvelous, but…

It took me some time to actually understand the game.
There should be an option that we can choose if we want to play with AI, or just FreePlay by ourselves, so that we can actually win the game.
It’s kinda difficult to win against the AI, since they grow way faster than the speed of light.
Any-who, the game is great, just please give us an option to play alone.

A decent strategy game

It’s very good to see a real strategy game other than civ. The game mechanics is complex and takes time to understand. I am with it because I am fast learner. AI are not boring and it’s good. The only suggestion would be to make most of the map to be a sphere. You know like there is not end but circle the map.

Terraforming harsh terrain

I think it would be great if we could terraform the harsh terrain to get better use of them or adding a new resource to make them worth incorporating to our cities and I think you should make it so that the higher in level a city is the more tiles it can incorporate to it’s influence or get resource from.

Absolutely Incredible

This game is so in depth it’s insane. I’m not surprised by negative reviews because it almost requires a separate tier of thinking to manage all of your assets. I LOVE IT.

I’ve been looking for something like this since the horrible Civ port. As a massive Civ and Total War fan, this game scratches that itch TREMENDOUSLY well.

Prepare to spend a lot of time in it, because it’s intense!

Great but needs fixes

Hi, thank you for this rather faithful recreation of one of my all time favorite games. I’ve played this game (civ 1, 2, 3, 4, mobile version, Xbox 360, and now this) for almost 30 years, I’m not sure when it came out but I basically played it since day 1.

However, even when you set it to “novice” mode - even as an extremely experienced player - it is incredibly difficult to impossible to play. Cities revolt even when I set luxuries to 40% at like 1000BC, no matter the civ and government. Cities revolt literally the turn you build them, then you have to starve them to end the turn, then the city dies basically the same turn you build it. This is just a fail for a game to be like this. It needs to be tested and played from mid-game to end-game.

The tech and city production also seems stunted for many civs I tried. And the old-school-game cheating was a little too reminiscent of the old game. If you could make a civ 3 remake, that would be magical because that is when they really worked out most of the bugs. Thanks again

Don’t know what’s going on, still fun!

Really great game concept, not something I’d expect to see on mobile for sure! Only criticism is that the tutorial is a bit dense and frontloaded. Also, the idea for including the ads along with the transitions screen is very nice, events are hard to read though.

Needs a bit of polish, but overall GREAT GAME!

Great game, a few suggestions

It’s pretty clear that the dev(s) work really hard to make this a good game, and o sincerely appreciate that. A lot of people have complained about the convoluted tutorial,
Which is a tiny bit confusing but if you’ve played civilization (especially earlier versions) it’s pretty easy to understand. I do, however. Have a few suggestions. My first suggestion is that I think as technology progresses, you should be able to build new fortress types. Speaking of which, fortresses have very little usage and I would like to see a more prominent role for them. My second suggestion is that if you’re easily destroying a country in war, they should be a little more inclined to accept cease-fires. Kind of like a reverse ultimatum

Example: I’m currently fighting the Sioux and doing quite well, however I’ve taken some bad damage as well. If this were a feature, I could request a cease fire in exchange for gold or a city or something like that.
Otherwise, great game!

Good game

It’s a very cool game and fun, I just have some questions though-
-No matter what my cities won’t go above 7 population due to famine or plague, I don’t know why.
-My cities are in constant disorder, then I when I try to fix it they get famine or go into debt.
- The AI spams units, and I can’t figure out how to attack back because of the control zones.
-Lastly, I would really like it if there was a discord or something for the game?

Great Retro Civ

New Civ looks better and better but the game just gets worse;
Civ 2 was always my favorite and this is basically it

There’s a couple other games that go along with it, seems to be regular updates making it play better, it’s a bit crude looking but just in the few weeks I’ve been playing there have been several things ironed out so I’m not going to bother getting critical

Only one thing, not sure if it’s me or the game, but on ‘Augmented Rules’ it takes a couple thousand years before I can get 1 Science Bulb/turn going and finally learn to use fire;
Kinda kills that mode which intrigues me otherwise :/

Maybe if there was a minimum 1/turn, or maybe I’m just doing something wrong

Great gameplay, lots of potential

Hi, I thoroughly enjoy this game and applaud the developers for the detail that went into making this. It definitely provides a lot of opportunities to experiment with different play styles. As a suggestion, I think the game would be even better if it had a “vassal” or “puppet” system. Sometimes I wish that I could puppet cities or bring back a civilization that was eliminated without owning the city myself. That way you could have colonies or puppet states that you influence (ex. they may pay you a tribute per turn) but don’t directly control. This would allow the player to control large parts of the map without necessarily owning everything and increasing their nation’s unhappiness. I think this would make the game even more entertaining and I would love to see this implemented in the future if possible.

AMAZING!!!

I’ve been playing for over a year now. I keep coming back to it for some much needed time pass, and the game always has updates. The rules and units are rebalance, there are more scenarios!

Not to mention three games in one! Civ style and Galaxies! Not so into the tank game, though maybe I just haven’t given it enough time.

I take my strategy games real seriously, and this is always an intense, long running challenge. Different tech levels present different strategic needs.

And full game play takes days… even a week!

Superior gaming! Thanks for the great work!
