I had used the Home Inventory app from Binary Formations for quite a while and was very impressed with all of its capabilites. When Under My Roof was released, I wasn't sure I wanted to change.....because I couldn't imagine anything being any better. Well, I was wrong. Under My Roof is amazing. I am able to easily enter, organize, edit....or anything else I want to do with my home inventory. It syncs seamlessly with my iPhone and iPad as well. You won't believe it until you try it! I could go on and on.....but if you have any doubts, try the free trial. Additionally, the support manual is well written and takes you step-by-step through the whole process. And.....if you have any additional questions, their support is second to none. If I wasn't already a MAC, iPhone, iPad user, I would switch just for this program!

This new and improved version of home inventory is fantastic, well laid out, iCloud supported, 100% import capture from your home inventory database, fully compatible with your IOS devices.

I was beta testing this new product which imported my old home inventory database, and had an issue updating this data when the official Under any Roof app came out. I contacted the developer and they quickly responded with instructions for clearing out the old data and importing my Home Inventory database. This resolved my issue and now I’m 100% up and running with their new app. RIP Home Inventory.

I was a customer for many years. I am very disappointed they have moved to a subcription model. With the mountain of subscriptions and monthly bills we all have to deal with ... Binary feels they can slip in one more. Guess I'll be looking elsewhere for a simple app you can purchase or just using a spreadsheet. It was nice while it lasted.

UnderMyRoofHomeInventory itself seems quite good, generally well featured, but it lacks some basic things such as any help files or other documentation, and there is no link within UnderMyRoofHomeInventory to the developer's support resources. This makes it quite difficult to learn about features, or lack thereof, efficiently. UnderMyRoofHomeInventory also needs additional preference settings, such as the ability to select which location view you wish to have as a default (for instance, for my use I'd prefer to be able to set it to showing all items). I'm sure UnderMyRoofHomeInventory will develop over time, but for now I'd rate it as a "good beginning".

We recently upgraded from Home Inventory and overall are very impressed. It's great to be able to enter items from iOS as well as desktop, and then recall them anywhere you go. There are still some areas to be enhanced such as collections reports. And global search would be nice as well as item search. (It would be nice to be able to search for an item based on where you bought it, for example, or who made it.) But overall an excellent step up from the already very useful Home Inventory predecessor.

Seems to work well for me after a few weeks of use. Syncs well across phone and mac. Photos and doc storage is great.

Instead of trying to keep my file structure organized in iCloud or OneDrive, I just have the docs tied to this dataset.

I think the $20/year is a fair price point to store the critical use-specific data.

I have been using Home Inventory for years and was a late beta tester for Under My Roof.

This version is light years better the the old HI. More robust, useful and comprehensive.

I had one issue that was handled quickly by the developer and within 24 hours an update was issued. Superb all around product and support.

I upraded to Under My Roof after using Home Inventory for several years. The improvements are amazing and I love that I have the complete inventory accessible on my iPhone. No more importing items with the automatic sync! I love it!

Honestly this whole subscription thing for every app is getting out of control. I’d prefer to pay full price and keep the functionality I bought for the price and if in 2 years there is something new and worth to pay I’d pay to upgrade but not every year/month.

I'm at the point where I am just starting to write my own applications to avoid the ridiculous recurring fees such as an app that I am going to update once and then just very occasionally use. Does that warrant $25/year or $4/month. No it does not. Charge me $10 once and move on. Something like UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is not meant to be a steady source of income and if you think it is you are kidding yourself.

Great program, helps bring structure and order to our complicated and chaotic lives and belongings. Highly recommended and used daily.

Overall good first impression of interface and ease. Would be my go to app if it had logic based on dynamic rather than predictable or "scheduled" maintenance. Triggers based on "current vehicle mileage" as an example, would make this my go to app for home/garage/workshop inventory and maintenance.

A number of years ago I started using Home Inventory to catalogue my personal collection I thought it was great, but there were a few limitations that frustrated me. Nonetheless, it was still the best thing around.

Fast forward to last year when I was asked to complete an inventory of a local museum whose owner had died and left behind over 100,000 items. I revisited Home Inventory, but since it had been years since I did a serious survey of options I thought it would be nice to see if they had an update that fixed the few deficiencies I saw.

Lucky for me, it had been totally rewritten under the name of Under My Roof. Not only had they solved the few issues I had but they also upgraded many things. It is now cloud based and super fast. I had the museum but an iPad and I can sit across the room as docents add items and my phone is updated almost in real-time.

Image handling and data entry are so well thought out that I have actually written their tech support folks to say thanks! And just this weekend I needed to move ownership of the core database from my account to the museum’s account and got a little confused. I was bummed because I had set aside the weekend to get this done. I wrote support at 9am on Saturday and heard back within the hour! The technician solved my problem and answered other questions throughout the morning. I was overthinking and it was simple. By lunch time I was done the transition and had aligned the museum’s taxonomy with my personal inventory.

I develop enterprise web sites for a living so I spend most days finding fault with software. But when I am using Under My Roof or training people to use it, it’s all smiles and happiness.

I absolutely hate it when the only way you find out that to be useful you have to pay for a subscription AFTER you go through the installation and set up.

For an app that you will probably use a lot up front and very seldom after that, a subscription model just doesn't make sense. Charge me a one-time $20 and I'd happily pay.

I just upgraded from Home Inventory and this software is quite slow to react when you choose a comand, very annoying, must get fixed. Thanks.

This is a great app - get it. Worth it.

As a happy user of My Inventory, I found it to be a great inventory app, but not perfect. Under My Roof refines and perfects the experience. The fact that it's all iCloud synced means I don't really have to worry about manual backups anymore. And I love the fact that I can share my inventory with my partner and we can build and add things together with our own devices.

My only gripe so far is I haven't been able to figure out how to add an item by manually typing the UPC code. I own something that has an incorrect UPC code on it and it brings up an entirely differnet product. Please add a way to manually type UPC codes and this will be perfect!

I have bought so many apps that once released they seem great but then are never updated again so it’s rare for me to write a review. UnderMyRoofHomeInventory will blow your mind with the amount of features you can pick and choose to customize it to what you need it to be. I can personally comment on the high quality of customer service because I was just figuring it out and hit a wall. Not one but several emails were exchanged between myself and the developer over a week or two. This program is amazing because it is built around real experience of what is needed when disaster hits. Features I asked about were already in the program. This isn’t just some database app, it is a complete suite of tools that can be as extensive as you need and grow as you learn and cover different areas. Strongly recommend you download the manual. Worth every penny.

Under My Roof is a complete rewrite of this developer's previous app, Home Inventory. They have taken an excellent app and updated it to include great new features, such as 'moving boxes' and being able to use barcodes on those to track what is in the boxes, disposed items, being able to include multiple homes (with different inventories) and a completely new iPhone/iPad app that can run independently of the Mac desktop app. Both will sync the inventory via iCloud, so you can update with your phone and organize things to your hearts desire with the desktop app. UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is totally worth the subscription to keep it updated and fresh new features being added. I was using Home Inventory for years and was very happy with the product. It took me a while to transition to Under My Roof because of the subscription pricing and the fact that Home Inventory was working perfectly well. I am so glad that I did. The new app is incredible, has tons of new features, and works across all my platforms (iPhone, iPad, and Mac) for the same price. UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is so powerful and something that I use multiple times a week to keep track of and organize of everything in the house and all the storage boxes in the garage. You can also add receipts and manuals to each item, which is something that I used to keep separately with Dropbox. The iCloud integration works flawlessly. This is overall a great app and fantastic value.

Under My Roof is a real must for everyone who values the many things that they have in their homes. This is the best home inventory that is available to the public. We never know when we are robbed or hit by a tornado, fire, hurricane or other natural disaster. In that event all one would have to do is simply hand your insurance agent a thumb drive that has everything on it. You cannot remember all that you have and the cost for this valuable service is well worth the modest price!

This is clearly the best home inventory program for a Mac and iPhone home I have found. The integration of a Mac and iPhone is fantastic. I can take a photo of the item with my phone and it shows up on my Mac. How great is that. The integration with iCloud is flawless. And they keep improving it with updates. Well worth the annual fee.

I literally just got my MacBook Air today and this was on UnderMyRoofHomeInventory store just now. My curiosity got me and wow I am glad this was here. I will be subscribing to UnderMyRoofHomeInventory. I have wanted something like this for a while. I never knew anything like this existed. It also syncs with iCloud and isn't sketchy! BIG PLUS!!!!!

I store everything related to my house and belongings in UnderMyRoofHomeInventory. Pictures of items, receipts, manuals, etc. Great way to keep track of all your items. I digitally download manuals to everything I buy and attach, thus getting rid of the paper.

This application is great! I’ve tried many others including Sortly and Under My Roof fit exactly what I needed. I also like that it uses iCloud for syncing instead of hosting the data outside of the Apple ecosystem.

Developers that think subscription model should automatically apply to them can kick rocks. There's no reason UnderMyRoofHomeInventory should cost $25-48 PER YEAR. Give an option for a one time purchase, and move on, otherwise, I (and many others) move on from you immediately. It's the difference between a 5 star and a 1 star, simple as that.

It used to be really good and easy to use. Now, it’s complicated, crashes and doesn’t work. I did the upgrade and followed the instructions to migrate my old data, and the new version cannot read the info. I’ve tried to add in new data and it refuses to load a photo from my phone or desktop. I selected one photo of my car and it uploaded 20 photos of flowers!!!!!! I tried again and it uploaded 81 misc. photos!!!! I unsubscribed and UnderMyRoofHomeInventory still says I’ve subscribed. BEWARE!!!!! both the iPhone and desktop versions are a mess now.

I started with the Home Inventory app which was a very well thought out application. The rewritten current version is even better. The ability to have "containers" that you can move from one place to another is very useful. There's also an ability to assing an heir to items. This has allowed me to make a list with photos to attach to our wills & to easily update it. I highly recommend Under My Roof!

I was a user of the previous app called Home Inventory. I decided to upgrade because it seemed as if the additional features justified the reasonable annual cost. I am so glad I did. UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is easy to use, does an excellent job of helping you capture all the necessary info on your home and its contents, and has great reporting capabilities. I am very impressed with how intuitive UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is and its reliability. Every time I think there should be a way to do something I need, I find UnderMyRoofHomeInventory has the capability. I highly recommend UnderMyRoofHomeInventory .

UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is perfect in terms of tracking everything we need to keep up on home maintenance. I've tried some of the other home maintenance apps and I feel like they are too expensive for what you are getting. UnderMyRoofHomeInventory is a good value and has everything I need.

My only real complaint is that it's not very intuitive. I find myself clicking around *a lot* to get to what I'm looking for, to the point of frustration. I work as an app analyst so I'm not a dummy when it comes to software. I think there could be some improvements in UI to make the experience better.

Love UnderMyRoofHomeInventory! I own long term and short term rentals and turn to UnderMyRoofHomeInventory multiple times a day to keep all the properties straight, including my home.
Can't wait to try the 3D image included in their newest update. This will save me many miles of driving to each property when I need a measurement.

Have used the product sice before it moved to the subscription model and would recommend it to all Mac/iPhone/iPad users. Great integration between the platforms and they are constantly innovating and expanding the apps capabilities. Also the customer support is tremendous... Any time I have needed a helping hand with something, they are quick to respond and resolve and they even follow-up to make sure all is good. A great product with great support...

I like the look of it and appreciate that it's multi-platform.

I wanted it to be my one-stop inventory system. It didn't quite work out that way.

I had thought its support for Barcode/QRcode meant that it had the ability to generate a sharable code-image so I could use a label printer like the B21 to put it on my boxes and other inventory items.

Unfortunately that's not something it can do, and after an informative conversation with tech support it's not something they're planning to add.

I'm giving it 3 stars because it seems nice, but having to use a different app to tell UnderMyRoofHomeInventory what an id is ... well I want to make inventory managment easy and having to use a different app to tell UnderMyRoofHomeInventory what an id is every time sounds less-easy, more like a pain.

Maybe I'll just use the gps coordinates in my ipad's photos.
