Subscriptions are killing everything

I'm at the point where I am just starting to write my own applications to avoid the ridiculous recurring fees such as an app that I am going to update once and then just very occasionally use. Does that warrant $25/year or $4/month. No it does not. Charge me $10 once and move on. Something like this app is not meant to be a steady source of income and if you think it is you are kidding yourself.

I absolutely hate it when the only way you find out that to be useful you have to pay for a subscription AFTER you go through the installation and set up.

Subscription disappointment

For an app that you will probably use a lot up front and very seldom after that, a subscription model just doesn't make sense. Charge me a one-time $20 and I'd happily pay.
