Basically not functional without the premium version as a not beginner learner, but why would I invest in the premium version when I have no idea if Laoshi has any value as all I have experienced is it being useless. And I WOULD have invested in more features once using the standard for a bit and deciding Laoshi is helpful. The current setup is just frustrating and useless.
I’ve restarted twice but can’t get through onboarding. It asks me to type my name then loops the man thinking animation forever.
A little misleading, but what did I expect
Potential to be great, except it took multiple attempts to complete some of the smaller strokes, as though it doesn’t recognize the input, and then marks it wrong, placing the character(s) in a near endless cycle of repeat (I can work around this with the checkmark to skip, but this shouldn’t happen in the first place).
After using Laoshi for several hours, here are the good. Nice flash cards. Has a library of premade vocabulary bank of words from various Chinese textbooks and APPs that can be downloaded. Has audio in flash card. Laoshi would be 5 stars if the following changes are made: Night mode to make it easy on the eyes. Ability to expand text size in grammar section as some user have bad eyes. Last but most important to some users like me, the ability to review and go through the entire deck of flash cards without having to press whether I know it or not! That’s so annoying that it can’t be turned off. I want a feature that gives me the option for continuous learning (cram) without having to be interrupted with rescheduling words over and over again. Just let me review all the words in sequential order in a HSK chapter/lesson/deck from beginning to end for quick review. I understand there is a memorization method they are using to help me memorize it, but I want the option to turn that off. In addition, I would like them to minimize touch or swipe when advancing a card to avoid carpel tunnel injury to thumb and fingers. Just let me tap on the right side of the screen to advance forward or tap on the left side of the screen to go backwards. Of course, this feature should be available under cram mode. Please fix because I’m ready to purchase your app.
It’s a great tool for writing and writing and writing Chinese characters. Sorry but it’s the only way to learn. I wish that characters you learn you could automatically add in a word list. I also wish when they break up multiple characters words you could easily learn what that character means and sounds like on its own.
Its function in is not good even not usable the application is still not complete on the iPad’s screen please make it usable
Some things are not clickable after awhile after navigating Laoshi such as the back button or learn button
Also it would be useful to add textbooks to my library so they’re easily accessible and I don’t have to go back to search for it every time
Partial screen on iPad version OS 14.2 even in portrait mode.
Laoshi is really good and i only have one issue: when the pop up to buy premium appears on screen, there's no way to get rid of it, and if there is i guess it isn't visible enough 😭 i have to open Laoshi and if the pop up takes too long to load in then there is a x to get rid of it and i have to tap it really fast but if the pop up loads in on time then i can't use Laoshi .
