This is a kids version for the most part as far as trivia goes. Answer after answer of dull, poorly written questions(as with many sites trying to appease the American audience and don’t do a very good job writing or even fact checking).
Their “costumer service” is terrible and has taken as long as their “season”(weekly) to even respond, and still their response(s) is the regular computer generated response even if a real person may have sent it, rarely fixing any of its many problems or compensating correctly for issues you may have, even if you PAYED (unfortunately) to be “VIP”-which, btw, is $3.99 PER WEEK! And that’s for a lame site! I confess I did it a couple times just to help dominate a week here and there.
I am just so tired of the problems here and honestly a bit embarrassed I even played this bad example of a trivia game, there are many MUCH better!!!!

I’m getting ready to delete this game, even though I really like it. I would have given it 5 stars at first, but not any more. The problem is the tournaments. This is my favorite part of the game. I put in time and effort to climb the leaderboard, get 1st place, and advance to the next higher level of the tournament. But I cannot get past the Silver 1 level, even though I get first place. This has happened multiple times!! Let me paint a picture for you. This is what happened last night. I’m on the Silver 1 level, I work hard, use my coins and rubies, build a huge lead. I check on it a few minutes before the tournament is over, and see that my huge lead remains. Then I go to bed. This morning, I check on it. The game congratulates me on getting first place. I receive my prizes. I’m feeling good. Finally, I’m moving on to Gold levels! I click the tournament button to begin, and I see that I’ve been demoted to Silver 3. Why? The game told me I won!!!!! I’m so angry. I’m angry because I like the game, because I want the game to work properly. I’m angry because of all the wasted hours! There is either a glitch in the game, or there are not enough people playing it to have Gold levels and beyond. Either way, I’m upset, and I’m not going to waste any more time on this game.

This is one of those annoying pop up ads you get in all the other ad spamming games you play, I recommend downloading it Just to leave a rating, you can’t rate it if you haven’t at least downloaded it, and that’s what they want you to do after all, download their crap, play it and after a few incentivized games get your superficial rating of approval or excellence before you grow bored of it and forget it occupies space, well do the world a favor and rank it poorly first and provide a review, you can even copy and paste this on any app that qualifies, download this just to rank it poorly cause you hate ads too. Don’t forget to close the ad on the pages you see them on and flag them as undesired and/or seen all to often. Then avoid any purchases from ads shared by these advertisers as well. Stop the inflation of the products production cost by kissing these annoyances goodbye. Saying goodbye to the invasive artificial intelligence that monetize your value and profit from that investment in your privacy invasion. Telling em all where to shove it and offering the icy hot for lube.

There’s too much going on with this game. All of if it mostly revolves around paying for the game. Also, though you have the option of silencing ads, they’re definitely not silent. As the developer pointed out, though there is an option to silence ads, that really just means turning the volume off on your phone. So make sure you remember to turn it back up when you close TriviaStar . Toggling on the option to silence is just for show, unlike other games with a functional option to silence ads. It further adds to the annoyance of playing this game.
After I left this (now edited) comment I got a super snide email from the developer. For some odd reason it was addressed to my brother. They basically apologized for the game being too complex. As though I wasn’t smart enough to play. I said there’s way too much going on. It was super annoying. Too much trying to charge you for features. The actual trivia is as easy as could be often with typos. The developers are rude. The game is way too busy.

If asked what apparel company produces shoes with a check mark logo and one of the options was Nike, would you choose it? I didn’t. I guessed something else and got it wrong. The Nike emblem is a swoosh, not a check mark.

Some of the answers are downright wrong and some questions are trick with ambiguous answer choices. Some questions are terribly written.

Gems allow you to continue if you answer incorrectly. If you get low on gems, you can watch videos to earn 15 gems at a time. I watched several videos and my gem count never increased. Mid game, I was asked to review. I made a comment about the gems. I was offered a FAQ response that said to wait 10 - 15 seconds between videos to earn gems. I did that and still never received gems. If gems = lives, there needs to be a better way to earn them because waiting time watching videos doesn’t do it and even if it did, waiting in between is no fun when playing a game.

If your app has ads AND pay to win aspects you’ll always lose a star from me. Don’t say there’s no alternative. Hearthstone is free to play, NO ADS, and makes BANK from people buying (optional) card packs. I see that there’s a way to pay for ads to go away which is nice, except for the fact that your app has a MULTITUDE of other “pay to win” facets. If it was just “pay to get rid of ads” that’d be fair. But whose paying to earn in game currency when all it does is help you on (VERY easy) questions? I played for 10 minutes and the difficulty ranged between “What color is a polar bear” to “What Disney movie is Hercules from?”. I’d estimate based on your apps means revenue, and it’s simple to follow functionality, that you make a lot of your income from kids using their parents credit cards. If that’s the case I hope these parents know what they’re losing their money on. If I were them I’d buy them a Jackbox game and call it a day. 1/5 stars.

First, I do enjoy the concept and was excited about TriviaStar -even spent some money at the beginning to get things rolling.
BUT, after playing for a couple of days, I’ve discovered this game is super buggy. Also, less of a deal breaker, but annoying, are the abundant grammatical and spelling errors in TriviaStar, I’m embarrassed for the developers.
Also, when I finally ran out of coins and didn’t want to buy more, I tried to take them up on the offer to “Earn more coins” by watching ads, supposedly at 25 coins per ad. I wasted my time watching ads 8 different times and was awarded a grand total of ZERO coins. So, I either lay down some more real world money or TriviaStar is completely useless and at a dead end.
My opinion? Don’t waste your time. There are other trivia apps that are better written, less glitchy and don’t dead-end you into a manipulation for $$.

I really wanted to like this game. It has some great aspects of it. The reason I’m leaving a 2 star review is because of how money hungry the company who makes this game seems. You obviously have people spending real life money on it, so why do you feel the need to spam ads. After you complete the 3-5 questions. Depending on the category you choose. You are then forced to watch an ad, and it’s not your normal ads that play for a few seconds, then let you skip. No you click skip, then have to close out your iTunes, or google play whichever OS your using. Then have to wait again to skip the ad again. All together you’re closing the ad 3 times, then being bombarded with “deals” to try and get you to spend more real money. You can bug VIP, but all that does is get rid of the ads. You’ll still end up spending loads of money because they use diamonds to be able to re roll, or ask an expert, or 50/50 split. These are the reasons why I’ll be deleting this game, and not recommending it to others. The desperation for people to spend money ruins the whole game experience for what otherwise would be a fantastic trivia game.

I have been playing this trivia game for several months now. Until recently, I have not had any trouble earning coins. But now the categories are so not me that I’m losing coins. The gems are so time-consuming to earn for free by watching the ads, so I can’t spend them re-rolling questions or 50-50 or re-rolling the category. All the questions in the birds category have to do with the Latin names of birds and bird body parts. All the questions in the poetry category are nursery rhymes!! There have been so many incorrect answers where I lose my game because I got it “wrong”. I really don’t know where they get their questions because so many are so random and abstract I get very frustrated getting all the incorrect answers. The mythology category is so difficult you have to know india and Norse and a lot of mythology’s that most people aren’t familiar with. I finally got so fed up tonight with an incorrect answer and the fact that I had to spend hundreds of coins to try to earn a special Sunday gem earning opportunity that I just got mad and deleted the program.

It seemed ok to start with plenty of trivia questions in different categories. Over time though you begin to need to answer more questions to beat the levels and that feature just doesn’t make sense to me. Sure maybe make that increase as you go up levels in that category like answering 6 questions on a level 5 category, but if you leave categories low because you don’t know them well it makes no sense to make you answer 6 questions when you haven’t leveled that category up at all. My biggest complaint is with the tournaments. I was gold III for one… exited the game around an hour before end time and I was 6th place… come back on after that tournament ended… next one started and I’m down to silver II… I have trouble imagining that I dropped down from 6 to the bottom 10 when I’d been in the top 10 most of the tournament and even if I did why did I drop 2 levels. It makes no sense. Seriously considering deleting between the frustration with that ad needing to answer more and more questions in areas I don’t know.

Maybe glitches, maybe intentional? It’s hard to earn enough points to play. Endless ads, fewer coins awarded per game than it “costs” to play per game. To get more coins you must purchase them with actual money or watch ad after ad after ad. Then when you’ve accumulated enough coins to play for awhile, the game happily takes your coins but won’t load a game. I more than paid for those coins with my time! On my last time playing I had earned 3,000 coins but somehow ended up with less than 2,000 without ever playing a game! Also, it offers a button to press to earn coins or jewels, (another tool), and then won’t respond when you click it. The game seems to learn what categories you are good at and doesn’t offer those as choices, only the categories you don’t like to choose, making you use up your hard-earned jewels to re-spin for new categories. Overall, this game is not worthy your time and effort. Much required for little return.

At first I loved this game. Great questions and developers have just enough sidebar distractions to keep it interesting. But the whole gems thing to keep playing or get help has become annoying. The ads are too long and at times get stuck, especially the Royal King junk games. Lately I can only get free gems once and it gets stuck in between Get Free Gems and watch Another Video, never allowing me to watch another video. Today, I watched and the game never showed the Collect Gems bar. It forces me to Lose Streak and pay extra coins to keep going. Very frustrating. Also the idea that your streak count in actual numbers stops after 100 is disheartening. Who wouldn’t like to know how many they got right in a long running streak? I play games to relax not get wound up and frustrated. Thanks.

I’ve only been playing for a few weeks and while I enjoy it I also find it very frustrating as well. It’s too difficult to earn gems and I refuse to pay for them. Every day or two I have to watch 20 ads or so to get enough to make playing the game worthwhile. As someone else said, there are not enough rewards either. When you complete a round you should earn some gems, not lose them all in the process of getting there. You get a one-step forward, two-step back feeling playing this game. The categories are either too easy or too difficult, and there’s a big emphasis on sports or “culture,” neither of which as a senior I enjoy. I haven’t deleted this game yet, but as a person who loves word games and does enjoy trivia, I’m thinking this won’t end up being a keeper for me, unfortunately.

I have been enjoying this game for a few months now, up to level 870. Enjoying the various categories since I’m good at some and not others but there’s a lot of diversity. It is random that the Poetry category is mostly nursery rhymes but I can live with it since I know more nursery rhymes than poetry it seems.

Some reviews so they have issues getting rewards for watching videos, if my reward doesn’t pop up after the first ad, I have been exiting and closing game app and then opening it again, which seems to do the trick.

My only “complaint” or thing I’d like to see changed is that you should always gain coins for each round completed. Even if it’s only 25 or 50 coins, you should always be receiving more coins than you started, not just breaking even. I may get a reward multiplier chest greater than 2x less than a quarter of the time. That’s frustrating since you need the coins to increase the experts. I understand there may be a desire to have people purchase coins or watch ads but I think you could at least adjust it so you always earn at least a little more than 100 coins. Maybe just eliminate the 2x multiplier and let 3x be the smallest. Thanks for an enjoyable game!

I actually love this game but I am a little perturbed by the fact that my gem stones don't always appear after watching video specifically for that purpose. This is usually not realized until the offer of watching a video for 30 gem stones is taken advantage of. Please fix this glitch so that we are able to enjoy the game at the full capacity.

Please forward my concern to the tech department since I am unable to do so, as this remains a recurrent problem.

This problem persists and continues to get worse I am now unable to get free gems when notified that I do not have enough gems to pay for an alternate category. TriviaStar crashes and forces me restart and use more coins only to get the same error in effect causing me to waste coins. As previously stated TriviaStar support link reroutes to a page that reads "Page Not Found". Please fix this bug.

I had become addicted to this game. Thoroughly enjoyable.

However, after reaching about a medium level, I found it impossible to go any further without using any gems, which are very quickly depleted.

Almost every aspect of this game relies upon using gems, as opposed to coins— from choosing an extra category, to receiving a hint on an answer, to getting an extra spin.

Furthermore, there is a “glitch” (is it really a glitch?), supposedly allowing you to watch videos, to freely earn a small number of gems...
But after watching these videos, no gems are received!!

I have the latest version of this game installed, so that has nothing to do with the “error”.

The *only* way to obtain the gems is to buy them.....I have already laid down money once, in removing the ads...lI refuse to do it again.

Why can’t the user occasionally exchange some of the amassed coins or stars, for the gems?

And without accumulated gems, it is practically impossible to advance any further in the game.

Too bad, because this is otherwise a wonderful app, and an entertaining pastime.

Other suggestions:

Where are the categories like spelling, grammar, and mathematics? ...or maybe I am just old fashioned.....

Also, how about classic TV and films, and classical music categories?

....Way too many “pop culture” entries from the year 2000 and up—at least for this user.

I don’t know what others think but I like this game and just like any other game you probably will have to spend a lil here and there...however you do get free gems and coins and I haven’t had a problem getting my free gems or coins you will only get so many a day so keep that in mind...game is easy at first but the higher the levels the harder it gets but it hasn’t been to bad..some answers are in the question and some aren’t but..helps pass time and I find it fun learn to use your gems and free miss thing as it resets every 15 mins and you can wait between answers if you want...overall this is a good game I never leave reviews but I wanted to for this game

I’ve been playing this game for awhile now and I like it. You can earn gems from ads which doesn’t bother me to watch them while I’m having my morning coffee then a few more later, if I use some gems I pad the use with a ad or two no big deal. I have found some questionable answers mainly in the sport stars nicknames category and I’ll start to send in suggestions to them in the future. Speaking of that they have great support and I’ve always received timely answers from them if I don’t find an answer to me question in their FAQ’s and if you think you’ve been shorted coins or gems they’ll make sure to cover it and sometimes they’ll give you a few extra, nice!

Very fun game that actually plays as advertised. Many of these games advertise one way then when you download them they are nothing like what you thought you were getting. This game is fun, starts off easy and gets more challenging and has multiple fun trivia categories and fun ways to get coins and points. No glitches either. The only thing that I think is worth it is getting rid of the ads. Once you see if you like the actual game I got rid of the ads for a 4.99 one time fee. WELL worth no interruptions! I have actually ditched some of my other games on my tablet and find myself always playing this at the end of the night. LOVE IT!! You don’t have to be a genius because there’s always ways where you can get hints. But it’s challenging enough for people that are actually very smart and don’t need the hints that they are challenged as well the further and further along you get in the game.

I really enjoy this game mainly because it isn’t “competition” based. I am not the most competitive person and like testing my knowledge more than winning. I also like that the categories are more fun and not about really serious topics. For example, the categories include “Brands”, “Disney”, “Food”, as well as “Basketball” and “Capital Cities”. I enjoy games that test or have to do with pop culture. It’s nice just to see how many I can get correct; the points you get from answering questions correctly and other aspects of the game are just a bonus. Definitely recommend to someone who is more into having fun.

I really enjoy this game and would have rated it five stars, however today,In the middle playing once the Last question is answered correctly, the screen freeze. I would then close the game and upon retuning it does not allow me to open the chest to collect the coins, it takes me directly to the main screen to add 100 more coins to continue playing, when the coins are added it takes me back to the last correct answer that I selected in the previous game. This happened three times. Which totaled 300 coins not to mention the additional bonus coins I could have earned. Please fix this glitch and refund me the lost coins. I’m currently stuck on level 396. With only 57 coins left.

I love this game and I have a lot of fun with it. However, I find it very annoying that when you get one answer wrong, you’re not allowed to keep answering the rest of the questions. I would prefer to get the answer wrong and break my streak, but still be allowed to finish the quiz and answer the rest of the questions. Maybe if there was a points system instead of having to answer ALL the questions right in order to move to the next level and getting cut off after just ONE wrong answer.

Other than that, I enjoy the game. I learn new things and also find out I knew more than I thought when I correctly guess an answer. It helps keep the mind active.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Hi, I want to start by saying I love Trivia Star, it’s highly educational and fun. But the problem now is, requesting for 100 Gems per unknown question as opposed to 50 (which was a lot in the first place) is ridiculous, especially that the gems only come 15 at a time. Frankly it’s taking away the fun and appeal of the game, which is a disservice to your company as you would only lose customers. You have a good thing going, don’t ruin it by making the game such a chore to get gems. Kindly look into this matter, I think it’s only fair to request no more than 20 Gems per question. Thank you.

I give this game ZERO STARS. I’ve been playing it for months. At first the questions were super easy. Then they become super obscure. This makes you spend money to advance. The 2-day tournaments do not deliver what they promise. The top 10 players are promised they will advance. Sometimes you do. Many times you don’t. I’ve ended most of my tournaments #1, but get demoted by multiple levels. The first time I reached out for help, they said “Sorry - it’s an issue we can’t fix.” They gave me some coins. The second time I reached out, they said nothing had changed & they couldn’t do anything else. This is the third time & they say the same thing - sorry, nothing we can do & we can’t offer any coins or gems. I’ve been demoted many more times than the 3 times I’ve reached out to their help department. Don’t waste your time, energy or money. These people don’t care at all about their customers!
