Please let us change review frequency! Otherwise amazing app

TLDR: Incredible app! Repetition intervals are pretty absurd (2 days -> 2 weeks -> 2 months). App does crash, but it’s not a big deal just don’t click on the fire in the mammoth’s habitat.

DuoCards is soooo amazing! It’s got great built in abilities to review and find content in common and obscure languages alike! It really fills a gap that no other app or software I’ve found has filled when it comes to getting exposure to media in your language of choice.

When it comes to learning languages DuoCards kicks Anki’s booty, but I have to take away one star because it lacks the ability to change the intervals between seeing cards again. Be warned when you review a card after the 2 day interval it jumps straight to 2 weeks and then 2 months which in my opinion is a big oof… especially if you are learning a language with some wacky spelling like English or Norwegian.

Also, DuoCards does consistently break if you open the little rewards screen that shows what the next reward is for being active on DuoCards . (You probably won’t ever even find this screen if you aren’t looking for it though, so it’s not a big deal) All you have to do is close and reopen DuoCards which takes 2 seconds and really isn’t as big of a deal.

Crashes a lot and doesn't let me access filter

Crashes when I try to open it, crashes when I do the listening exercise, I paid for a year subscription and after a week I can't access the filter, DuoCards suddenly thinks I don't have a subscription even though it shows that I have one. But when it's working here's what I think:

Good things:
-TTS is not bad
-when you add a word the definition auto fills in and usually a picture to go with it.
-You can filter to only listen to the cards (although you are interrupted with a matching exercise now and then)
-You can add a sample sentence that you can optionally listen to as you review your cards
-not very expensive

Needs improvement:
- you can't set a filter to show the front of the card first (you can set it to show the back)
- you can't set a filter to not make you do the matching exercises
- you can only make one deck per language
- as I've mentioned it crashes a lot and I'm having access issues currently
- no monthly subscription? I wanted to try it out and got charged for a whole year but maybe that was my mistake?

Lots of languages and quality lessons

I’ve used a lot of language apps, and with a lot of them, the premium version is overly expensive and not really worth it. I’ve been using the premium version of DuoCards ($50 USD per year) and it’s been WONDERFUL!! It genuinely makes me so excited to learn every time I use it, and it’s been great helping me translate by ear.

Pleased!

I am enjoying using DuoCards . I like being able to add words and phrases in the order they interest me, in my case, for example, learning the words for airport and customs agent before learning the words for elephant and Ferris wheel.

I’ve deducted one star because DuoCards is not available offline, which surprised me. With all these excellent features I had expected to be able to use at least some of the flash cards while in said airplane.

But otherwise, I'm enjoying DuoCards and learning a lot. Thank you!

This works for me

Being able to translate and then import words from English into French from other sources into DuoCards is awesome.

The videos that you can watch with words following below is great too.

So far so good. I’m enjoying this

Couldn’t get past first set of cards

I know I used to be smart, and I’ve been able to make every other language app work, so I think DuoCards is messed up. I filled out one set of “cards”, and could not not find any way to add more vocabulary. Help screen only gave “swipe left/swipe right” directions. Even the cards it gave were using full sentences when the vocabulary was just one word, which drives me crazy. It’s uninstalled.

It’s not helpful.

I was hoping that DuoCards would be helpful in my quest to study French but it’s not at all. I find that it’s lacks many basic helpful features like the ability to translate a sentence into my native language so I know what I’m reading. The UI is most of the time is confusing and I’m finding that I’m stuck in some rote remembering game that isn’t contextual to anything. The gamification is silly and not of any value. I won’t be using DuoCards properly again as it’s frustrating.

The best application for learning vocabulary!!

DuoCards has helped me a lot in my studies. When my friends ask me for a recommendation for learning vocabulary I always tell them DuoCards. I sincerely thank all developers for making this app such a great learning tool ❤️

Best app for language l!!!

You guys it has only 300 downloads? It should have way more. Best app for language learning no cap

I am a fast learner and duolingo was messing with me cz they would repeat same sentences that ive already learnt 1000 times

Here i control what cards do i want to be asked over again (i mean you do have to invite friends to access this feature of controlling the cards but i mean still win win)

Also it has a course book, videos with subtitles and etc just trust me on this one

i love it

Great

DuoCards is great. You can add words and make your own list. However it would be perfect if you could sort your lists alphabetically.

Not intuitive

I should have purchased just a monthly subscription to try it out first. Unfortunately, I purchased DuoCards for a year. I’m very motivated to learn French, but DuoCards is only frustrating me and isn’t helping me. I can’t figure out basic functionality to help me with certain features I want to use. I’ve sent in questions to the “feedback” menu and haven’t received anything helpful. I regret purchasing it.

By

Good but expensive

I like how it provides icons for the words to prompt an association. My biggest complaint is that if my flashcard is a verb, I want to also work on the conjugations. I have not found a good way to do this with DuoCards.
Too expensive as a subscription.

Not just a DouLingo rip off

DuoCards release its own thing, with it so I’m clever technology. A lot better for Bulk Learning vocabulary

Great app

Great app, very fluent and easy to use.

I only wish it had a feature to immidietly mark something as “Learned”

I wanted to consolidate words from my other apps and it left me with almost 600 flashcards with a solid 97% completely known and easy to recall.

Please consider adding this feature either in the learning feature or when making new cards. It’d be a great addition!

Good

It is a great app to start learning vocabulary. Haven’t had any issues with it.

Dude the ads

I can barely get past my cards before an ad pops is I get you have to advertise but it’s getting annoying you’re better of just to do another app ):<

By

Fix the music

DuoCards is great but some of the music cannot be played. overall I’m learning from DuoCards. I think it’s really great

Very good

One of the better apps for language learning.

This app makes me feel like a kid

I don’t why but I am learning Japanese now .

Great learning app, WHY so expensive??

I have been learning Chinese for a few years now, and have been using AnkiDroid which I also really like. But DuoCards is better in that it shows you both sides of the flash card so you learn both ways. Plus it speaks the Chinese word so I can work on listening skill. Overall 5 stars! But why so EXPENSIVE?!? I have no problem spending money to learn another language, but I’m not going to pay your outrageous price. If it was cheaper I would buy it. Plus it’s annual? Your CEO must need a hefty bonus.

Better than Duolingo

This is actually really helpful, even if you are doing it free. There is still a lot of access to features and it is clear that the goal is to ensure learning and forward education. Once I get a summer job, I will most likely pay for premium.
