AdLock: Ads Blocker & Privacy Reviews

I used Luna for quite a while as it was simple, straightforward, worked like a dream, and was completely free. Not one hiccup, one time. Once Apple decided to remove it from the store I began to look for something like it. After some research, and trying other apps that were more “advanced” (and still couldn’t compare to Luna), AdLock seemed to be the answer for complete blockage. During the week trial, there was a point where Full Protection seemed to work, but it was towards the end of said week. I have now paid for the full protection plan and am still seeing ads across all apps. The web-surfing feature works too well, as it doesn’t necessarily block ads so much as kills video streaming completely on some sites.

TLDR: app completely blocks videos with ads in them on browser, and if you pay for the ad-free app “upgrade” you’re still going to see ads in your apps.

The whole reason I was excited to try the Pro version VPN based blocking was because I read all my text in dark mode and most ads are blinding and bright, but my safari content blockers can’t extend their reach to the News app. It turns out neither can this tool. Even with the VPN turned on all the regular ads show up in News. I’ve used manual DNS settings to block ads successfully in the News app, but that only works over WiFi. So I thought it should be possible for a VPN like this one to extend that functionality over my cellular data. I was wrong.

Got AdLock to block the overwhelming Ads in a game I play. It didn't work...at first. But after a restart and 24 hrs of playing the game, the ads mostly disappeared. I still see one or two trickle through, but it's <1/10 what it was. So all in all an amazing deal for AdLock! Now I can try other games, and maybe even Safari again!

UPDATE: after giving it another try an redownloading AdLock I reached out to their support team and this time they responded! After a week of talking to them about the problem I was having (one email a day. Sometimes i had to send multiple just to get a response) I finally fixed the problem by deleting AdLock and downloading weblock.

It’s a very good adblock ! However, for some reason I am not allowed to use it on more than one device, and when I try to activate it on one of my other devices, the option tells me I’m subscribed to the plan without letting me advance premium features on the other device

I’ve only been using this for a couple days, but decided to test it out by going to a couple of nuisance sites and playing some apps that I quit because of the ads.

On the whole I think if you use your phone for the most common things, this is a great app which catches basically all ads. There are two circumstances where I got frustrated:

- some sites block access to content if you use an ad blocker, and that gets triggered by AdLock

- some ads on foreign sites (I tested Japanese and Taiwanese) don’t get caught.

finally got rid of Pinterest ads! god they were so annoying. But, definitely worth what i paid for. thank you!

This is the best ad block app I have used in a while and premium is only $4.99 a year! It’s an amazing ad blocker and an amazing deal! Highly reccomend AdLock!

i got this to listen to music on sound cloud, got the premium membership and a couple ads tend to get through sometimes, maybe a little more development in AdLock to fully lockdown on all the ads? thanks.

Does what it says, but had to delete after realizing AdLock was causing my browser and internet to stall. Both myself and my wife had the issues and they were resolved after deleting AdLock . Multiple restarts and reinstalls didn’t fix.

I downloaded AdLock because of an article ON THEIR WEBSITE saying they could get rid of ads in apps. Only to find after downloading that that’s apparently a “pro” feature. If I wanted to pay to remove ads I’d pay for the ad free version of my apps. Rip off.

I bought this specifically for the ads in Words With Friends 2. I skipped the Free Trial (my mistake) and got the Pro subscription. Then I set up the Full Protection VPN.

I still get 30-60 ads between each game.

I will be asking Apple for a refund of my subscription money.

Got rid of all the ads in video games.

Bought the paid version, did not block ads even when enabled. Still see ads.

Excellent app! It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, block spam!

I paid for the one year subscription. Then I paid for a one year UPGRADE to premium to specifically block ads in words with friends 2, which is SPECIFICALLY mentioned on AdLock’s website. I want my money back!!

i got AdLock because i read some comments saying how good it was i have had it for OVER a week and it hasn’t blocked any adds or stopped any. Do NOT get this it is not useful whatsoever.

I so far find this a unique 5 star app! Does what it says and better then I have been able to find in most apps out there! If you are thinking of downloading AdLock do it now today!! I don’t think you will be sorry or disappointed. ( Really )
