Oversold, under delivers in several key ways

First of all, ads in a paid app? Really? Gross. Secondly, doesn’t play well with iPad, the main device I want to use it with. Won’t stay in landscape view, for one thing, and videos don’t truly go into full screen mode… there is always a header showing which covers important content at times. Promises “personal, customized fitness routines.” This was the main thing I wanted, golf specific workouts and a great plan. Well, not only does it NOT provide any tool or simple way of creating a routine, half the videos in the fitness area are missing! On top of that, they are out of order and not named correctly in the side bar. It gives you the feeling that it was half way built when somebody in marketing demand it go live, well before it was ready.

Also, emails to support go unanswered.

A little rough around the app despite decent content

Tested on iPhone 12 mini running iOS 14.3:

Video playing in full screen mode keeps the Home Bar visible even after no screen interaction as taken place for extended periods. The Home Bar should be set by the developer to auto hide as it often interferes with visibility of content (the golf ball) in the video.

Video playing in full screen mode only rotates in one direction (CCW) when the screen is rotated in either direction. When the screen is rotated clockwise, the content appears rotated counter clockwise thereby displaying upside down.

GolfDigestSchools appears to store its status of the user’s login where it is flushed prematurely as GolfDigestSchools requires authentication by the user after only a few days of non use.

I would also like to suggest reconsidering the quantity and diversity of user analytics being collected by GolfDigestSchools .

Missing key features, glitch video experience, and... Ads?

Had high hopes here but GolfDigestSchools is underdeveloped, and not at the right price based on that. I’d be more forgiving if GolfDigestSchools weren’t as expensive.

Fullscreen
I imagine everyone here wants to watch golf instruction in full screen mode. Yet switching to FS is not seamless, videos restart and rebuffer, or I get a black screen and have to restart GolfDigestSchools .

No user history
When I do need to restart GolfDigestSchools , it has no history of what I have watched so I have to navigate the apps screens to find my video, wait for it to start, then fast forward. Crashes while trying to stream to my TV made this especially painful.

Ads on premium?!
Paying a premium for content that is still littered with ads is super annoying. The short format of the videos makes the ads incredibly repetitive.

Also offline support seems like table stakes for any paid content play nowadays. I think they are trying to charge even more for this, even though it saves money?

I’ll finish the trial b/c the content is good, but unlikely that I will be keeping my sub.

Love it but freezes

3/5. Good content but the videos freeze on a black screen when ending when in full screen mode on iPhone XS max. The rahm content was a bit too much of him hitting and not enough info about the swing etc. I plan on keeping my subscription and I love GolfDigestSchools . However I shouldn’t have to delete GolfDigestSchools and redownload it every time I decide to watch in full screen and it freezes at the end

App doesn’t work and customer service is bad

I typically don’t write reviews but I’m hoping that I can save someone else the trouble I’ve had. I paid $150 for a lesson package. I never got any of the three lessons. I contacted the instructor and they cannot even see the videos I uploaded. I was asked to upload another video and GolfDigestSchools tells me I’m out of lessons despite having a total of three and I have not used any. I’ve emailed customer support but have not heard back. So In the end, the video content on GolfDigestSchools is good. The coaching platform is horrible. The customer service is hard to reach, email is only option, and their communication is nonexistent.

All videos, no written workouts

I was really excited for GolfDigestSchools. I’ve been looking up and finding golf workouts on random websites for a while now. While GolfDigestSchools does consolidate this into one place, it’s all in video format. If I’m at the gym, I want to listen to my music and don’t want a video walking me through things. It would be nice to have workout plans written out with images so I can reference them quickly while in the middle of a routine rather than following an instructor on video.

Ok but expected more

Why am I getting Ad’s when I had to pay for GolfDigestSchools ? Also there is no way to pickup where you left off with a video. I’ll get a few min into something and want to jump back in later in the day and need to advance the video. Add a recently watched section that saves place of video.

Awesome Content - Easy to use!

GolfDigestSchools is so educational. The content is very high quality, easy to understand and quick to watch. The series with Tiger or other tour pros is something you can’t find anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Maybe just add favorites or previously watch or continue watching.

Great quality videos, for the few that are there

There are some great quality videos here, but not many, and the videos are continuously interrupted by the same exact ad that plays over and over. Really annoyed with this. I’m disappointed that I paid for this.

No landscape mode on iPad

No landscape mode on iPad? Seems odd when most people use iPad for learning apps like this.

Also the sign up button text was too dark to read. I couldn’t even sign up. Literally trying to give you my money for these courses but the poor experience and device support is preventing it.

Hire better developers.

Awesome content and UX/UI

I really love GolfDigestSchools. The content is great and find myself watching video after video. GolfDigestSchools design is also very clean and intuitive!

Can’t get access to content after paying

Paid for subscription via FB ad. Tried to login after and it did not work. Now I can login after 4 days. Now I have no subscription. Support will email once a day that’s it. Good luck! I’m still waiting maybe by next week.

Search Capabilities

The videos have been good but GolfDigestSchools lacks a simple search function.

By

Great Content

It’s great, every week it seems like there is new content added!

IPad Pro Compatibility Issues

The developers of this definitely don’t have an iPad Pro, otherwise they would know that GolfDigestSchools doesn’t work. Come on guys....

Pay to then watch ads, link to cancel billing broken

You pay a fee to have your videos interrupted by advertisements. Then when I tried to cancel the link is broken.

By

Don’t try coaching

Coaches are non responsive I paid for an online lesson and was charged (still not refunded) despite the coach never getting back to me for my online lesson. Waste of time and money

By

Bad user interface

It’s a little ridiculous that GolfDigestSchools screen doesn’t auto-rotate to landscape mode on an iPad and that the login doesn’t remember my credentials.
