Almost awesome.

Very promising app. Like the other reviewer I would like to edit the main home screen task completed date as well. You can edit the journal dates but it saves whatever day you open YardMasteryLawnCareApp and tap done on the alert pop up. For example I clicked done on April 8th so now the home screen says I put down pre emergent on April 8th when in my actual journal I put down pre em on Feb 16th. Additionally dates in the journal are listed in the order you entered them. Would be great if you never forget to put something in your journal or like me you download it after you have already done several apps and try to log them for reference. My journals order is now April, Feb, March. Would be nice to have them refresh in order. Lastly I would like to be able to choose what picture shows as the thumbnail in the journal list. I uploaded multiple photos per entry but no control over what the thumbnail is. Overall great start. Needs some tweaks though.

Good start.

I used to use the scotts app but I recently moved to this. I’m probably not going say anything that has an already been said but it is of course a work in progress. It keeps telling me that I need to login even though I’m already logged in which is kind of annoying but I just X out of the warning. It would also be nice if it kept track of your purchases within YardMasteryLawnCareApp kind of like the Home Depot app. Once the bugs get worked out and the user interface is smoother out, this will be awesome. Backing up the journal to icloud and/or google is going to be a must. With the scotts app you can go back in time and review several years worth of applications but I did lose all of my data at one point and had to reenter it. Good job, I look forward to what lies ahead.

Enjoy The Journaling

YardMasteryLawnCareApp gets off to a good, basic start and I know there will be great updates ahead. It’s basic and super easy to use while providing a, much needed, centralized place to keep track of your lawn journey. I am noticing that double entries are recorded when journaling. I’ve had to delete the duplicate entry each time. Probably an easy bug fix. My Wishlist for enhancements includes being able to modify the date on the completed tasks that link to the periodic reminders. Next, a calendar would be a useful visual. Making our plan shareable would be a cool feature as well. Lastly it would be helpful to have cost tracking. Tracking of irrigation, enhancements, and products related to yard maintenance. My goal is to minimize expenses and it would be nice to be able to track expenses from season to season. The way I see it, the healthier your lawn, the less you spend to maintain it. THANK YOU Yard Mastery for developing YardMasteryLawnCareApp.

Very impressed

I really like the direction YardMasteryLawnCareApp is going. I see some real potential in record keeping. However, I noticed a few quirks while entering data in the journal. It seemed entries could not be edited and when they were edited, they actually created a duplicate of the same entry - at least until YardMasteryLawnCareApp was shut down and restarted. Then the duplicate entry was gone. Very odd. I would also like to see a wider variety of commercial fertilizers in the application list. For example: Estate is a very popular brand in the Chicago metro area. In any case, I really like YardMasteryLawnCareApp and am looking forward to watching its development! Good work!!

3 Stars for participation

This application is a work in progress and currently feels like a sales tactic for specific product. If the developer changes a few things and adds to the application it could be worth while.

My recommendations
-select multiple lawn grasses. I have warm in the front and cool in the back. Make multiple lawns and allow user to name them ‘Front yard’ etc
-Rainfall tracker/when to self water. I don’t have an irrigation system, but I would like a notification when it’s time to apply water. It would be nice if it knew how long it had been since rain and it also knew what’s forecasted.
-remove product names. Notify me when to apply fert, pre emergent, water, grub control, insecticide, fungicide. Ask me how the lawn looks for post emergent control and prompt me to apply it if the yard needs it.

I will not continue using this application if they stick with their product line. Many of the products are either not something I would purchase or not something I would apply at that rate etc.

This application has serious potential and I hope the developers listen to their users.

Thank you!

Love the app

Been using since the beginning and I will say upfront that I love YardMasteryLawnCareApp . My only suggestion/idea was to be able to choose which plan you are on (I.e not just warm season, but all liquid, or Florida blackout, or granular/liquid mixed) based on the guide, in that way all of the reminders on the home page are based on the plan that you choose to do. Otherwise, loving YardMasteryLawnCareApp and it beats keeping a journal in a book, although I still want to in case something crashes and all data lost. Keep up the good work, no complaints here, only ideas.
Ps Bring back the podcast for my morning drives to work

Great Free App

I love LCN watching his videos for years. He has helped me understand how to take care of my yard. I have so much more to learn but he explains so well. I am using his products as well and will update its effectiveness after adhering to the program properly to provide the appropriate feedback. I have no doubt his products will work and the price is affordable for what you are getting.

YardMasteryLawnCareApp has some quirks but it’s feee so the best thing to do is be patient that it improves in performance. Overall YardMasteryLawnCareApp is abundance of info and how to take care of yard and I love you can log everything you do.

Not bad eh, over by dar

Tim from Michigan,

I would just recommend adding the soil test results to the profile that way you can build off of the recommendations that are provided. It would also help if with the recommendations you guys could incorporate the liquid “stuff” (that’s tech talk for noobs) humic12, rgs, air-8, etc
I also would like to have a way to change the time on when I apply an application or add an event to my journal. I usually sit down after and add all the info into YardMasteryLawnCareApp . As it stands I applied a pre emergent before I mowed my lawn for the first time. It states I also did them at the time I put them into YardMasteryLawnCareApp , which was around 9pm. Would be nice to change that time in the same spot as the date. Pictures work well so far, as well as adding app rates. I can delete things and haven’t had an issue with address or lawn size problems as others stated.

Other than that I’m enjoying the beta and testing out what I can :D

Awesome & Thanks!

I’m new to lawn care, and in fact, I detested lawn care so badly, I ripped out over a 1,000 square feet of it! However, after creating a miserably hot backyard and discovering the Lawn Care Nut - Allyn Hane online and I decided to give it another go and reinstalled that 1,000 square feet and downloaded YardMasteryLawnCareApp. Thanks to all the folks at Yard Mastery, I’ve got a beautiful and healthy lawn!
I appreciate and understand lawn care far more now, and I’m actually enjoy getting out there.
Yeah, YardMasteryLawnCareApp is a work in progress as is my lawn and keep up the great work on the updates! I’m grateful for it and have also experienced a few bugs.
Good suggestions out there, some completely unnecessary for me. I can’t help wondering if those people would be willing pay to see those bells and whistles integrated?
Thanks again for a great free app and all the work that went into it to make lawn care and throw’r down enjoyable and successful!

Too early to rely on

I love LCN and really want to love YardMasteryLawnCareApp. It’s just not very trustworthy right now. Entries I make sometimes appear double posted and sometimes vanish. It means I have to enter in YardMasteryLawnCareApp AND in my original log on the notes app, defeating the purpose. Images I upload with my entries can’t be viewed in detail and are kept too small to be useful. There is no calendar view to see the bigger picture. The list view of entries don’t show any information beyond the title, so you have to open every entry to see what it is. The prompted products and rate for application are pretty limited and it’s not a function I find useful.

Here’s hoping that this is ironed out as it goes. For now I’m keeping my notes app updated instead.

Not Ready for Primetime

Started out working well. Then daily average soil temperatures became stuck on the same soil temperature for days. Now the daily average temperature has been dropped from YardMasteryLawnCareApp and no longer visible. The latest version has a new link to the shop feature where most of the granular fertilizer and pre-emergent products are “unavailable.” The product description says to click “email me when available”, which doesn’t exist, so impossible to click on. Not very useful for South Florida lawn care. Journal works but so does recording applications using my spreadsheet. YardMasteryLawnCareApp has potential but communication about the changes has been poor and the new release is underperforming

High hopes for improvement

Really looking forward to YardMasteryLawnCareApp but pretty much unusable out of the gates. Unable to save my account settings. This means I can’t choose my grass type, yard size, or save my address for the location-based soil temperature averages. I’m sure it’ll get sorted in a few days, but a disappointing first impression. I’ll re-rate when basic functionality gets restored and bugs get squashed.

UPDATED: developer was incredibly responsive and advised a workaround solution. Everything working fine now. Great app concept!

Journal entry page layout needs work

I’m just starting to use YardMasteryLawnCareApp, specifically journal entries. The journal entry page layout needs work. Even the basic UI isn’t working right. The green check mark on the bottom left of screen interferes with note entries. I can’t see what I’ve typed due to the check mark.

The soil temp feature is nice and works well.

A journal entry drop down would be helpful to filter past entries. Pre-emergent, weed n feed, palm fertilizer, shrub fertilizer, fungicide, and a custom choice so I can add several of my own design.

A couple different top-level journal entry types may be beneficial. One for throw downs. One for observations. Even have reminder notifications to re-engage users with YardMasteryLawnCareApp to make their observation entries.

Overall, appreciate the effort even if the UI needs work. Journal entries structured as data with a roadmap for future use for both your company and your users would be time well spent.

Enjoying

I really like being able to track everything in one place. It's nice being able to jot down any notes and record application rates.

Future enhancements: I would really like to see a calendar view where you can have a visual aid and see when you put things out. It may also be helpful to have it link to any soil test you had done. My final thought would be to have the ability to add lime or sulfur options to adjust the pH for your lawn.

Keep up the good work.

Great app that will be even better with time!

Downloaded based on a recommendation from the LCN. Great app concept! I’ve noticed the duplicate journal entries bug that some others have mentioned, but know that you guys have it in your backlog to fix. Everything else seems to be working great. I just downloaded today and started playing around, so I’ll continue to provide feedback if I come across other issues/feature requests!

Everything I need in one spot!!

The journal, local temperature, suggested applications in the calendar, N,P, K ratio calculator and the lawn measuring tool makes, had mame my go to tool. For several years Allyn has been providing sound, professional “free” advice to the lawn care community, that I feel in debt with hence, I support this American and Fellow Veteran by getting the best products available from him. He and his associates, make it fun and cool to take care of your home.

Fantastic App & getting better all the time... come along for the ride !

Have been a user since beta and have seen the “minimum viable product” iterate and become ever richer in content.

Fantastic companion for the “guides” which are offered separately and explain the why behind the suggestions in YardMasteryLawnCareApp (which are getting more and more precisely targeted & personalized with each release).

See you in the lawn !

Ph2 - Improvements

I’m a novice therefore certainly have a perspective as to how this seemingly high potential app can emerge into a bible that I can use through out the year.

1. Guide book on the type of grass - with Alan’s tips.
2. Expert recommendations on lawn care plans - Alan’s tips
3. Seasonal plans by location/grass type
4. Tree care. Shrub care.
5. Tool recommendations (and coupons?)
6. Products that Alan uses (the throw ‘em down stuff)
7. Personal plans - paid subscriptions. Ability to be able to post questions and pictures, for expert advise, recommendations and lawn care problem solving.
7. Lastly, videos on subject matters.

Hopefully that covers just about everything for newby lawn care nuts just as me.

5 stars in advance.
Thank you!

Really Good App for DIY’er

I am like most homeowners who do a bit more than just water and mow. It meets my needs and allows me to document what I do so I can look back on the last time I did something. I like the reminders, even though I don’t follow all of them. Every update has made it better and better. Looking forward to seeing what is next!

By

Great app but

This really is a great app! Easy to follow instructions and reminders. Would be awesome to add or select what your goals are for the lawn and a more advanced plan will be there auto-magically. Let’s say I really, REALLY want to throw er down, let me decide that and magical Allyn will tell me how to throw it and even dumb it down like, “you have GreenePunch, make sure you put it down at ...oz per 1k”. Just a thought but I love YardMasteryLawnCareApp !

Can’t Enter Address

I guess there is a problem with YardMasteryLawnCareApp where it will not accept my address. I can enter everything, but it will not save. Will fix review once this bug is fixed, until then YardMasteryLawnCareApp does not have a use.

Developers helped me fix the above issue. App is excellent. Thank you for the help!

New Lawn Nut

I’m new to the whole lawn thing. I grew up with one, but I never really understood what or why I did the things I did. It was just part of the job. Now that I have a “lawn” of my own, I want to improve it and make that turf green and soft.

I did my 2nd app of pre-e and some fert and recorded it here on YardMasteryLawnCareApp . Very intuitive, and I love the average soil temps and the prompts for what I need to do.

By

Great App in Active Development

Great app and does everything you need. Many of the glitches experienced when first downloaded on its initial release date, have since been corrected; or in the works (I assume). One thing still needing is broader product listings for journal entries; such as all the GreenCountyFert lines (FloraGreen, etc.). Would recommend product to others; and have.

By

Need to be able to add our own products names

Only allowed to use your products or have a generic option for other. We need to have an option to preload our own products and hide other products we don’t use. We should also have the option to override “other” when we happen to use a product for the first time and want to show the product by a name vs other.
Long way to go before this product becomes useful.

By

Definitely a Beta

I have high hopes for YardMasteryLawnCareApp, but my experience so far is that it is not ready to replace the trusty computer file that I use to log my annual lawn care applications. The Journal UI is clunky at best, and thus far I only have been able to create one entry as every time I try to create a second entry, it simply overwrites the first one. One additional suggestion— add a Spreader to the application section to record the type and setting for reference.

By

Love this app

I’m a big fan of YardMasteryLawnCareApp. I’m still learning about lawn care as a newbie DIYer. My favorite function is the journal function. I can record whatever I want. They have a shop option on YardMasteryLawnCareApp but aren’t pushy about buying ONLY their products. But their products are great anyway.

By

Very Clunky

Been waiting for an app like this. Unfortunately it still needs a lot of work. Journal is very clunky when trying to make entries. It double entries or you can’t save or view it unless you force close YardMasteryLawnCareApp and reopen. Then it doesn’t show your previous month entries or they disappear then come back randomly. I’ll hold off using until it gets fixed. Easier to make entries in my notes.

Not quiet lawn care nuttiest app yet

This is a great start but I would suggest a few edits.
-I applied WD prodiamine and I cant record proper measurements.
- my pics aren’t loading
- mowing should be an option with HOC
- I applied Bayer Advanced and cant enter the rates
- YardMasteryLawnCareApp says it is a good time to throw down but I already did.
- equipment maintenance area would be nice
- I wish the calendar vie would go oldest to newest and not the other way.
- I wish it would give a preloaded calendar option. Maybe that happens if I pay for a soil test???
- I some how feel that the LCN has sold out to yard mastery. It just feels...blah, ya know??

By

Promising start

I agree with all the other reviews, the journal portion of YardMasteryLawnCareApp seems to have some issues when entering in data. I would also be cool if you guys could incorporate fertilizer rates. There is an app called turf therapy that does this.
