DC Heroes & Villains: Match 3 Reviews

I haven't been truly excited about any game in a long time. Most other DC games have disappointed me, and I play begrudgingly. But this is making me so happy. It’s just my style of game. Thank you. I hope there will be alliances so we can be a team. I’m pretty sure there’ll be.

Was hoping a dc puzzle game would come out and here it is. Am loving it so far great characters story and match three puzzle is perfect. Awesome job devs hope there is more to come still playing through this but I meant more updates content etc.

I’ve played so many match 3 and RPG/Gacha games and this one takes the cake!!! The pull system is rewarding but also forces you to progress into the game. The factions of heroes and villains also adds a cool element to the game, and has all the DC character you love!!

The graphics cgi is perfect but you know would be better if this game was a fighting game instead of puzzles

This game would’ve been better if it wasn’t an rpg puzzle game. It would’ve been more fun if it was an open world game where you can control the character. The fight against Darkseid should’ve been a boss fight not the first fight in the game. Credit where it’s due the graphics are great.

Better then the movies just pointing out there, also love story line and it’s different I love it

This game is absolutely amazing and well made I love it.

I just spent $40 bucks and the game just reset everything back to zero. Lost the heroes and villains I bought. And after the tutorial it won’t let me start any missions. It’s not working at all.

After being with other match 3 style games for many many years. I clearly acknowledge my bias towards certain styles and game design.

However. As a match 3 clone, there are better choices.

Let’s start out with the game play loops. There’s no clear indication when you getting hit. The randomness is the most egregious. Why can’t I preview the powers during the match? The turn exchange should just be 1-1 unless you get a 5 match like other match 3 games? If it’s a match 3 why am I taking a seemingly random number of turns to fill out my character power? Why does the 4 match not take the entire row. Why does it matter if there’s a rock paper scissors element also?red beats green, beats blue, beats red.. that’s so much. Everyone seems to have 1 passive and 1 active ability. That’s fine.

They do have a strat that I like. The passive team synergies.

Another thing is, why are there gear pieces? Why isn’t the level up scaling auto? There’s supposed to be so many characters how can anyone get to the top of the game like that? Makes no sense. And theirs play charges? What does that do for anyone ?

I’ve played this kind of game before, and unfortunately it’s not going to be popular. Maybe it lasts a little while. There’s nothing inspired here.

I almost feel like they could have just cloned MPQ. That’s your direct competition and comparison. It would be a 5/5 to that end. To me it’s the gold standard. Maybe and hopefully I’m wrong.

A fun game with a cool premise and great cast of characters but it’s seemingly bugged. Once you get to second chapter it won’t let you begin the level.

I was a little curious when seeing the gameplay, but my god do they make it work. It has a gameplay style similar to Candy Crush but with some tweaks. First you have 1-3 enemies depending on the mission, and throughout the mission you’ll also hear dialogue between you and the enemy. You”ll enjoy this.

This is by far the best match 3 player game out there devs good job keep the updates coming please don’t abandon this amazing game download now.

Bugs are can’t upgrade units connection is fine can do battles and all but sometimes can’t upgrade other than that great game and love everything about it please update game

I had a message while I was upgrading heroes saying rate limit exceeded and even after restarting DCHeroesVillains this keeps happening? What am I too do and crystals and resources seem to be gone for no reason…

They really screw you over. Don’t buy the start bundle and waste the purple gems on pulls. After you complete trial season pass they unlock another banner that has character you want. You pay 50% more in price compared to other gacha game or other games in general. They just as bad as raid shadow legends. Just go look at the better business bureau, mostly negative from customers. Like they keep charging you and appears they will refuse a refund for them. They will tell you to make sure to turn on two step purchase to stop the extra charges to card. Other reports of people losing items they purchased. I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM JAM CITY. They keep having problems. I bet they even buy fake reviews. Most reviews should be at least a 4 star as all games are not perfect and I found a few websites you can pop in a few dollars per review and it be done the next day. This game looked good until they add another banner they should not allow purchases until after all the banners are unlocked.

I love puzzle games and I love DC even more! The game is Bejewled, no real surprise there, but the DC elements are so much fun! You make your own team of heroes and villains (and random extras) to make your own dream teams to fight insane criminals and demonic monsters! It’s awesome! You want the Justice League to fight? Easy. You want to use the Gotham criminal underworld? Two-Face is one of the first people you get! You wanna have Two-Face team up with Amanda Waller and Red Hood Task Force Z style? It’s all there! I also like how each character makes certain colors of tiles do more damage and how enemies take up certain places on the board so you actually have to look at where to make matches rather than just mindlessly swapping around tiles! Super fun game! Highly recommend it! Really glad I saw the ad!

I'm not usually one for playing puzzle games but I love DC so I thought I'd give it a try. This is a great way to pass the time while you're waiting. I do wish they had characters have more than one grouping. Batman is the only one in the “Batman Family” group (needs to be renamed to Batfamily). Nightwing and Robin aren't included in there but rather members of the Titans and Teen Titans (also don't think they should have separate group but that's only because there's one group per character. The biggest ouf is Batman getting bonuses with the Justice League. Really like the game despite that gripe - it's not worth bumping down to four stars for because the game is new and I'm sure there will be plenty of updates. Thank you devs!!!

I’ve been waiting for something new with a DC title coming to mobile. I have the only two games on here that are popular and to have a new addition that’s a rpg and match 3 puzzle game made me happy. Perfect game for sure. Payment options are there but are not required since you can still get whatever characters in battle pass free from crates. It’s not pay to win either which I will enjoy for the time being. I can’t wait to see who will come to the came looking forward to starfire and blackfire!

Being a DC fan this game is a perfect way to pass the time with a really cool and interesting story and satisfying gameplay. Only downside is I have become completely addicted to it and haven’t been able to put it down since I downloaded it onto my phone. Can’t wait to collect all the characters!

I downloaded the game to play today and so far it has awesome graphics! Only once I reached chapter 2 level 1 the game started to act weird. At first it wouldn’t let me save an edited team or exit the screen to fight so I logged out of the game for a few hours since it seem to fix it for another player. However now even if I manage to save a team the fight button won’t pop up and let me enter. Since it’s still the tutorial I cannot do anything else within the game and it is very frustrating. I hope they update and fix this bug soon!

Overall loving it never understood the idea of making things so expensive. They have the model of not as many people spending real money but go after the whales.

I’d gladly spend money if they went after the quantity of people buying not the few but bigger purchases. Make things more affordable and normal people will drop feed money in.

Timers take awhile to refill and now it’s waiting half the day to play again or spend money.

Games honestly pretty fun. It’s a good time killer but there are some bugs still which I hope will be improved. I ran into a bug where I could not save my team after putting in new characters and got back on few hours later and it worked again. And I wonder why there is no audio

Was having a great time playing for about an hour until I got an error message that the game could not connect to the servers, I closed DCHeroesVillains and reopened it again and it’s stuck on the loading screen. Very fun otherwise and I was looking forward to playing mode, hopefully this can be resolved soon.

Well, had so many hopes going into the game, but leveling up and pushing stages on quest, it’s simply pay to win. If you see, any battle pass is just 10 dollars, but this is 15 dollars and there isn’t much, if you basically can’t grind and you’re stuck on a quest because your hero’s can’t be upgraded, it’s going to take ages, unless you pay. But other than that the game play is quite good.

I was enjoying this game, and hopped on one morning for an hour or two and completed a good portion of the story and got a 5* hero. However when I logged on later that day my progress I made earlier was completely gone and so was that 5* hero. When I did another 10 pull I didn’t got heroes compared to my earlier pull. There’s also been other instances where people have been completely reset. This would be a fun game and I enjoy it however I’m not about to restart my progress.

Game is entertaining, but you’re forced to level up characters at the rate of account progression which is extremely obnoxious. I could forgive it if the player xp was enough to keep you on par with enemies, but it doesn’t. You have to auto-win levels to level up your account, to level up your characters, to complete 2 missions. Not fun at all.

Love the game so far the big problem is the amount of energy you get. It’s so low you can really only play the game about 20 minutes before you have to let it build back up. Serious flaw. Might be able to actually play 40 minutes a day. Otherwise fun.

Honestly was skeptical about this but after playing it Im truly impressed by it this is an amazing match rpg game better than Marvels version this one at least has an awesome story to go along with it and tons of characters

Great game there’s just bugs. The announcer says “VICK” instead of “VICTORY” and sometimes the customization of your team page doesn’t let you exit

As the title says I enjoy the concept of the game. I’m even a fan of match 3 games. However the glaring issue is level scaling. After the first 5-6 levels, it takes WAY too long to get another level. Which normally isn’t an issue if it’s just a “Player level” situation. But since your characters can only be as high as your overall level, it means you have to grind through multiple days of side quests to get your level up just to be able to be powerful enough to beat ONE MORE story level. If I can’t even play for 1 day without getting level-walled, or being forced to pay real money, you’re instantly not a 4 or 5 star game. Add onto that the fact that it constantly pushes the pay to play pop ups on you, and the glitches, and a battle pass which is more expensive than most other gacha games, and the energy system which slows down your progress even more, etc etc. This game falls so short of other games that it’s laughable. I enjoyed my first few hours but I’m so glad I gave it a few days before deciding my review because once the initial cool-factor wears off you see it for what it really is. A cash grab and a scam

I like the game it’s a interesting concept to have heros and villains working together but the main problem is the leveling system suspiciously the leveling system for the characters while it is good that the ex to do so isn’t impossible to-get but thats not the problem oh no the problem is the fact the only wag to level them up is if you the player level up cuz through the mission you began to fight stronger characters that are both a higher level than your characters as well as higher power levels so that needs to be fixed where you can level up the characters separately from the players level for example im fighting the church of blood and they beat 3 of my characters and i can only get them up to level 6 thats not good you need to be able to get your characters higher

I’ve been enjoying playing the game and like checking in a couple times a day.

One glaring problem is that the battle pass and other paid additions are WAY too expensive. Shooters can get away with a $15 battle pass because they are more interactive than this game. This battle pass should be no more than $5 due to the nature of the game itself. I bought the first one but will not buy others until the price drops.

I’m still having issues with bugs. The bug that closed DCHeroesVillains during battles seems to be gone. I don’t think it has happened recently. I do still have issues with items in my profile not clearing the “new” flag. That’s very annoying. Several super moves also still have sound when used with the sound off (Artemis Grace, off the top of my head). That can be rough on the ears if you have headphones in.

The game is awesome. All the other comments can tell you the positives. I just have 1 thing would make the game feel a lot less malicious. I don’t believe this to be intentional, but I believe it needs revision.

Inventory quantity of your items, are shown in the shop, in small print under the icon of the item for upgrading. Enlarging that font would probably be pleasing for most. But the main thing would be the naming of said item. So far in the game I’ve seen 3 variations of the the same picture. We need clarity so we can stop buying the wrong item. The name can be found in a characters specific upgrade chart when trying to “find” them, but when buying in the shop it’s just an ICON. And that’s causing me to waste hundreds of thousands of coins. Probably in the millions but now.

Please modify the inventory and naming of these items.

This game has been pretty fun so far. The art is great and the mechanics are fun to play with. The character recruitment is pretty expensive though, and there is inconsistency between the capsules. For some reason, many 4-star characters are excluded from the basic capsule, and while the villain capsule has most of the villains, the hero capsule is missing a lot of the heroes—especially 4- and 5-star heroes. Maybe this will get fixed in time, but like with many gacha games, don’t expect to get characters you really like without spending a lot of gems and probably money. It would also be better if you had the option to pay for the battle pass with gems rather than money, like in MTG. I would really like to see some improvements, since this game has great potential.

First review I have ever taken the time out to write. Still in the early stages of the game, which should be the honeymoon phase. Where the flaws of the game are not so prevalent so it hooks new players. At its core this is a pretty generic 3 star match 3 game but because of the DC license it gets an extra star from me. The biggest issue I’ve run into throughout my short time with the game is the crashes! Sometimes in games crashes are understandable due to large particle effects or fast movement that stress frame rates. Neither of those things exist here… I don’t know how this game had a soft launch and it still was global launched crashing as often as it does. This game will lose new players before they even get a chance to get hooked because of the abundance of crashes. Bad form.

We suffered through the disappearing gems, the overlapping gems, the frozen game boards but now the latest update has the game just closing itself randomly during gameplay. This costs stamina which can be purchased with diamonds which can be purchased with real money and so while I have not spent any money (I’ve wanted to buy the game is far too buggy to invest real currency into) people are losing actual money to these bugs. The game is fun, the audio design is great it feels a little unbalanced and favors “auto win “ to actually playing the game if you want to progress at a nice pace. The jumps in difficulty are discouraging sometimes but it’s understandable because if you could just beat everything there’s no reason to buy items. It’s a good game but honestly it’s just too buggy to enjoy right now.

I have not been this excited about a D.C game. In a long time. You guys have done a great job. I’m very impressed.!!!!😎🤟🤟🤟keep up the good work hopefully they’ll be some more new material and updates. One thing that happened is the voices stopped working but the game is still amazing. Don’t know what happened about the voices maybe this is something you guys are fixing otherwise I love it.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 its fire baby lol that was supposed to be five star is the first time around that was my bad I love this game. The only thing I was wondering was what happened to the voices when I first launched the game there was voices for every character now there is none unless you’ve updated it. Otherwise, I love this freaking game.

Fun game but since the update, crashes almost every other battle. Still takes your energy/fight credits when it does. Was hoping today 8/17’s update would fix the problem but no, almost makes game unplayable unless you want to risk all your energy/rewards on the chance you can actually finish battle. Good potential but game breaking bug bogs it down.

I really am enjoying this game now that the game freezes and crashes have for the most part been resolved. And while I very much appreciate the puzzle / challenge of putting together the right team for particularly tough story mission, there are a few bottlenecks that boarder on ridiculous. Basically, your story progression can be stopped cold for a week or two until you grind out more levels in other parts of the game and/or you have the luck to pull one of the few 5* characters whose abilities will help you pass the mission. To have these types of bottlenecks, in my opinion, is simply bad game design. Sure, I can understand a few days of grinding, but nonstop for two weeks, unless you pay large sums of money to advance your characters? No thanks.

Fix the battle pass grind. I’ve been playing daily for a month and a half and mostly enjoy it. There was a time when it would crash, but after some updates it hasn’t crashed once. That shows the devs support the game, which is great to see! My biggest issue is the updated battle pass requiring 600 Battle Pass Points to advance instead of 300 like the previous one. This game is very reliant on grinding, especially once you get to supporting 5 star characters and leveling them up. Making it harder to get capsule keys just makes it harder to play the actual game.

This game is very fun, one of the better match 3 style games on DCHeroesVillains Store. But the difficulty curve wastes no time at all. The amount of resources and pulls you get do not compare to the very fast spike in power the enemies get. You’re going to spend a lot of time waiting for energy to spend 2 minutes in DCHeroesVillains to autowin levels just to level up, since your characters can only level to your player level. But then you have to wait hours on hours for the levels with the resources you need to refresh. Unless of course you pay to win. Good game but ruined by micro transactions like most mobile games. Game is actually fun which is why it isn’t 1 star, but unless you plan on forking up $ definitely a skip.

The game itself is very to the point, you match 3. However there is little to no side quest available, lack of social interaction (chat, guilds, etc), and the money wall is insane. After playing for a week I’m it gets to the point where you log on just to spend all your energy trying to get one piece of armor and complete the daily quest then you log off until later that night. It seems the developers are doing everything in their capabilities to force you to spend money on a game that gives nothing more than any other gacha match game. I would recommend some serious updates and if you’re any people to spend money give them a reason to spend money….$20 to get a character up one tier isn’t good enough.

The game is a lot of fun. I do not typically play Mobile game for very long as I mainly game on Pc and Xbox. But match 3 games are fun and the story is a fun comic book style heroes and villains gang up. The only disappointing issue are the constant crashes which make me lose progress and I have to start over. I’ve bought the first two season passes but that could be the end of those for me. They are just a little pricey and the thought I’ve dropped $30 on this with just two months of gaming is kinda disappointing to myself. Lol. But I guess that tells you how much fun I’ve had at least.

Game feels like it wasn’t mean to be released yet. I was lucky and got 4* huntress and 4* killer croc from single premium capsule pulls. Then I got 2000 gems and bought a premium capsule. Got lucky again and got 5* Harley Quinn, 4* Donna Troy, and 4* black lightning. Used them to finish the first 4 worlds with 3*s. Then next time I log in? All gone! And my progress was reset to just before I got any of those characters. Even better, I had big banner offers to to buy upgrade packages for all the characters the game had just stolen from me. It also clearly showed I had done 18 premium capsule pulls, so it counted me as doing it, just didn’t let me keep any of the characters. Game took my characters and progress and support hasn’t done anything yet.

I really enjoy the game especially since it’s DC Universe based, but there’s a bug where progress is lost. I got to Gotham 4-3 to be able to 2x the speed of gameplay but when I close DCHeroesVillains and reopen it, progress is lost and says I haven’t done Gotham 4-3 and sends me back to Gotham 4-1. It’s really annoying to have progress lost because I would have done a bunch of other things before closing DCHeroesVillains and then going back into it to find a lot of my progress was reset to a certain point. Also another bug, can’t scroll on the main menu to go see PvP. But overall the gameplay is pretty good I guess.

Overly complicated to power your heroes with crafting with items. Riddler’s superpower has no effect on anyone. Game continues to crash often after updates. Too many civilian play characters in the way of showcasing true DC characters (I didn’t sign up to to play as a no-name character like “goon” or a “fin carver”.) Regular play did no damage to Halo. Buy-ups are ridiculously expensive. $30 bucks to get a temporary premium package that does t really give you much I’d a complete rip-off. I bought it once & felt remorse. This game is strictly for folks who are DC fans who thrill to see their favorite characters represented, but isn’t really worth it for anyone else.

To start off, I really enjoy the premise of this game. I like the characters, the gameplay is very easy and fun. I enjoy leveling up my characters. However that being said this game is garbage! Like from a structural perspective. The game crashes all the time it barely works and on top of that there is a heavy cap to this game. Everyday I play this game because I do enjoy it, or at least I would like to when it works, but I just make very little progress when I do. I never write reviews for games but this game is so broken I had to vent about it so maybe someone will see it. On the other hand some minor issues I want to point out is the rates for drawing for the characters. Maybe i’m unlucky but I just get so many duplicates of the small characters and I can’t seem to get any of the higher tier characters unless I’m willing to pay for it, which i’m not! Overall the game needs to be fixed, allow for more play time, and be more forgiving toward free to play players.

P.S. I would like to see more characters if the game is ever fixed. Green Arrow and Deathstroke come to mind. Red hood is another cool choice.

The developers just released a new update that includes a second version of Batman. This is ridiculous seeing as any of us who already had the first version may have spent a lot of time (and money) upgrading it. If they want to make changes to characters, it should be an update to existing characters.

I’ve found it odd how many of the characters are treated as part of only one team (which grants bonuses when using those characters together) when they may be parts of multiple teams. For example, the first Batman is the only member of the “Batman Family” team despite Nightwing and Robin being available and isn’t part of the Justice League team. This second Batman is now part of the Justice League. Now I see that the plan was to force players to spend more money on multiple characters to complete teams.

I’ve been enjoying this game but it seems like a real bait and switch. I’m not spending anymore money for upgrades now that I know purchasing a character or investing in the characters I have is a waste.

Game crashes every now and then during matches. I’m on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, so it ain’t my device. The game is also horribly balanced in a way that makes crafting and literally playing the game come to a complete slow crawl. You need energy to play matches, you need to play matches to farm specific material so that you can upgrade your characters. The problem is the DROP RATE is ludicrously bad, so you’ll be using up all your energy to farm just ONE material. Then the next big problem is the game makes you wait 8 HOURS to play those matches with the specific materials you need once you played the max amount of matches.

It’s obvious they balanced it this way so that the player must purchase crystals. It’s a shame because I love the art, but I can’t in good conscience give this game more than 2 stars when it has game crashing bugs and horrible balancing.

This is one of my favorite games to play, I'm on it pretty much daily, idk if anyone else has this issue but the only thing I can say is wrong with the game is the random crashes. Especially when it makes me lose my energy or my raid attacks, etc . Game is fine then soon as I hit attack it crashes an when I reload the game my energy is gone and it's very annoying . I end up having to spend gems to get my attack back for assault way to often, as well as raids . I don't think it's fair for the game to take away one of my attacks when I don't even get the chance TO attack because the game closes when I HIT attack . Idk if this is something already being fixed but it's been happening for weeks now and I've grown annoyed every time I play because of this . Sometimes it even happens multiple times, again mainly for assaults and raids but since our attacks our limited to 4 and 3 respectively, I don't think it should penalize me when the game crashes . It's a waste of my attacks, and a waste of my gems to get my attack back when I shouldn't have to spend gems for something the game does by itself .

This is one of the best DC games I have ever played and I hate match three games but since they have auto play I will never stop playing this game:) I have no complaints it is a fairly new game so there are a few bugs the bug I’m experiencing right now is when I play the guild battle it gives me their awards for a choice mission and then takes me back to the map and I get no points for guild and then when I try to do an assault battle that force quits I haven’t had this problem at all until today so hopefully you will read this and fix your awesome Game thank you and keep up the good work!!!!

3 months ago I would have given this a higher review but as you get to the high levels, you get less rewards and they make it more difficult for you. I don’t know why they wouldn’t keep the rewards the same or more as you get to a high level but if feels like they are punishing you for playing a lot and getting to the higher levels.
At the PvP level I’m at, you basically no longer get meaningful rewards but a downgraded version of the previous levels rewards. It makes no sense. If you plan on playing for the long haul, then I wouldn’t. If you want something semi-enjoyable for a few months, by all means, this is the game for you.
I did basically “free to play” it which is good. I purchased the battle pass twice which provided a decent amount of rewards and with patience I was able to slowly get the the Justice League as my team so that’s a positive.

This game changes often, so please take the date of my review into consideration. That said, read on if you’re interested:

D.C. Heroes & Villains (DCHV) is a blast to play. The animations are clean, if not altogether imaginative or lively. The puzzle element, thankfully, takes a back seat to your characters’ actual stats and equipment. The resources required to level and power up your characters escalate RAPIDLY. If you kind of love the grind, though, this is your kind of game. Lastly, the story: It’s really good. It’s intentional and often makes use of the characters in your current party. All in all, I like it. But seriously?! I’m not paying $60 (AAA full console game price) for a single, 5-Star Batman Characyer. The pricing is ridiculous.

great game, super fun. there are some aspects that make it confusing to play + no tutorial so it’s not like there’s much of an explanation. i found this game from an ad and it’s also pretty realistic compared to the game, so no clickbait there. the only downgrade is the wait time and the bugs. when running out of energy, you’ll need to wait another whopping 4-5 hours just to play again. though this is a newER game, the bugs are a pain in the behind. i had to replay the same node over and over (wasting the energy i just spoke about) and it wasn’t until 3 hours later when it said i could move on. another bug is the freeze on the screen while you’re literally in the middle of playing.

One of the best phone games ever but sadly I cannot play anymore. On February 21st 2024 my game locked me out and I can’t get past the loading screen. I contacted the support team to which I got an automated email saying someone would respond to it within 24-48 hours. After almost 72 hours I finally got a response and all they said is they are working on it. It’s now February 25th, 2024 and my game still doesn’t get past the loading screen and no one has told me anything. I’m extremely frustrated and have spent well over $100 on this game. I’m not entitled to anything and don’t feel the need to be refunded or gifted anything for the inconvenience. However, I am a business owner of my own and if I treated a customer like this I would feel awful, refund the customer entirely and gift them if they still did want to play. But all I get is a wimpy email and no further action. I’m very sad with how this is all playing out. I hope to return to this game one day. If it ever works again. 5/5 game 0/5 performance and customer service.
