MTG Life Counter App Reviews

Im just playin and then they want me to rate MTGLifeCounterApp like dawg I’ve had this for approximately 5 minutes how am I meant to rate it like it works yeah but wait, chill my guy ask later when we get to know each other better and form a healthy relationship. Then ask when we’re both consenting and ready.

With the update to the new style, I feel like the developers have taken a nearly perfect life counter app, jammed it full of unneeded features, and have now made it borderline unusable. It’s way more convoluted to set up for each pod especially if you’re switching between multiple formats and life totals. MTGLifeCounterApp also runs worse and somehow will crash mid game on us losing our life totals. Me and my pod have now switched to using spindown dice instead of an app because of this update. I wish I could roll it back.

I usually use carbon for my life counter with my friends. As I was fiddling with the features as I often do to figure out what all it can do I found that there was no way to keep track of commander damage on MTGLifeCounterApp be it a section of nameless counters with which to designate who’s commander that it is or other ways. Carbon does have this but the same can be said about how carbon has no way of assigning names to each counter as lotus does. They both have cool features and I like both, but both don’t feel complete to me.

The recent update adding commander damage makes it so much easier than all the other apps I’ve tried. Being able to update backgrounds gives every player’s commander a chance to shine whilst in battle. It’s extremely simple to learn and use effectively. Bravo!

MTGLifeCounterApp would be more useful for me if it had a simple way to track commander damage. Right now it has separate trackers for poison, energy, and experience counters that could be used to track commander damage if you really wanted, but those counters are not linked to your life total so it is an extra hassle.
Other than that, it is very useful as a life counter and even has a simplified version of the rules included, and card lookup.

Any chance we can get landscape view for two players? I play with my brother over FaceTime and keep track of life because I have room to set up two devices but the camera only catches the bottom half of the screen and without landscape everything is just weird.

App is phenomenal for a life counter, saving profiles for commanders, being able to use commanders pictures for the different players so on and so forth. I wish you could use alternate arts for commanders. Biggest issue is that too many inputs will crash it. If not for that, it would easily get 5 stars and be my go to life counter

Love MTGLifeCounterApp especially because i play with multiple people, however, im a little disappointed that if i accidentally close out of MTGLifeCounterApp there is no way for me to back to that game that i just closed thus starting the whole thing over. I really hope there be a change to that soon. But overall love it

I’m new to magic the gathering but I’ve seen multiple digital life trackers in my local game store. This is app has amazing looks compared to the other life trackers and it’s easy to understand and read. However, it was a bit of a pain going all the way around the tracker options to add commander damage which we had to track in individual trackers like “Poison” and “Energy”. Even though it is mostly for MTG in my understanding, I feel like missing that commander damage tracker is a bummer and has me considering other trackers. Make no mistake, I will still prefer the visuals of Lotus, but not having that tracker is holding it a bit back.

Would love it even more if there was an option to increase or decrease font size. Sometimes it’s hard for all players to see the farthest life away from them. Tysm!

Super good quality works well the added dice feature nice and it keeps track of everything and I don’t have to search for the rule book that I lost 700 years ago MTGLifeCounterApp works great

This is honestly a great way for me to use for a life counter but also helps for people that it is there first time playing and it helps me look up cards to see if they are legal in the format that I’m playing

Hands down, this is by far the best Magic the Gathering companion app out there. You can easily see that the developers are extremely passionate about MTG. I remember that one of the developers also posted one of the best custom token sets on reddit. I recently came across the page once again and saw that they also made a MTG life counter. I’m not a huge fan of digital trackers, but I had to try it. And I was not disappointed! A lot of great features, including a live card search. Plus it’s completely free! I’m a huge fan, so thank you for creating awesome Magic the Gathering stuff for the players! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Does everything you need it to and isn’t complicated. Life counters for group games made easy. Wonderful if you enjoy keeping track of who won if you regularly play with the same people.

I love the features of MTGLifeCounterApp and prefer this to the other life trackers I’ve used before. Please add Commander Damage tracking with the option to track up to two partner commander damage per opponent. I have not seen that in any of the other apps I’ve used.

Has everything you need for magic, not only a life counter, but an effect counter, card search function, and a basic rule book if you need a refresher. Of course you could have other apps for these functions, but this one puts it in a nice neat package.

One of if not the best life counters available imo as it comes with a built in card searcher, a life tracker that keeps hold of your recent games and a full basic rule book of mtg its awesome and so far it’s worked perfectly fine with no issues it’s my favorite life counter for paper magic 👌

Me and my friends recently got into magic and prefer to keep our duels logged Online to see who truly is superior and the history feature in MTGLifeCounterApp was just the thing we needed it contains all necessary things for a normal magic duel and the ui is pretty easy to get a hang of unlike most trackers out there honestly an amazing app

Hey Wizards of the Coast, take a real close look at this MTG utility app. This is how I would have imagined the official MTG companion app. Amazing design, feature-packed and easy to use. I asked the developer if I can donate something, as MTGLifeCounterApp and all features are completely free, but all they want is to hear the feedback of the community. Great product, great team behind. Keep on the amazing work! 10 out of 10!

It’s rare to find an app free from ads, without purchases. It’s simple and perfect. Even works on older devices.
