I was initially excited to see that app because it supposedly utilized digital processing to analyze the sounds coming from your acutal guitar instead of relying on clicking images on the screen.

The first exercise worked OK, but for every subsequent execise, it stared blankly back at me and didn't respond to my notes.

Yes, my guitar is in perfect tune, using both my own strobe tuner, as well as the tuner built-in into GuitarBlast . Yes, I am using ample volume for the Macbook microphone to pick up the sound. Yes, I'm using clean tones without any effects that could alter pitch. Yes, I have a top-notch M2 Macbook Pro with the latest release of MacOS. So no, it's not "my setup" - GuitarBlast simply DOES NOT WORK.

Looks like I can kiss 4 bucks goodbye...

This is an app I would give 5 stars to for all the reasons that others have said. But as a lefty, I need a proper left handed mode to get the same experience as others in using GuitarBlast . However, the neck does not change orientation and remains mirrored as right handed even in “Left Handed” mode, adding confusion that does not need to be there. Should the devs decide to put the work in to give lefty’s the same full experience as righties, I would be happy to change my review to five stars. But as a lefty, i feel left out from the full benefits because of my handedness.

Guitar Blast is the best way to memorize the fretboard. However, the utility of GuitarBlast is less than optimal because:

In testing the playback of notes within any given level, some notes are not recognized when played.

Within any given level, when a note is played that has more than one position on the part of the fretboard being tested, the playback of a note in one position often triggers the disappearance of both notes, as if each note had been correctly played back separately.

Any given level may abruptly close before it is completed with no registration of results before the next level is presented for testing.

There is a lack of effective monitoring, correcting, and updating GuitarBlast .

A set of instructions on how to use GuitarBlast would be very helpful.

I enjoy playing this game a few minutes a day and it is helping me learn the fretboard. I would get a lot more from this game if I could configure the round times and/or customize my own drills. I would also pay more for those features.

I won’t lie, I have been searching and waiting for a kind soul to make GuitarBlast for a long time. You were spotted on in every single training exercise. Pretty sure you were struggled with yourself and build that app. GuitarBlast the way it is right now it’s awesome. I have been using GuitarBlast like a maniac for the last two days. There are a few things that would be great to improve but this will be another email, right now I’m more than happy with it. I took the offer of lifetime access but I’m still having the ad “buy PRO” showing up. Probably it just a glitch. Once again, thank You so much for your app.

I’ve been trying to learn the fretboard on my own for a while and thought I was doing well, but GuitarBlast has shown me that I need a lot more practice to have the confidence I want. The exercises are great tools for testing your knowledge and for helping build that confidence!

Once in awhile it will give me 100% when I know I missed a note. Other than that probably the best program I’ve seen for learning the fretboard.

I think GuitarBlast is amazing!!! It can actually listen to the sounds of the guitar and it can help you learn notes. Thats why I think this is an amazing app! Thank you for making it!

I’ve played this many many times and have gone from #2 to #3. It’s strange, lately my points haven’t gone up even though I play and level up everyday, other than that it’s amazing.

This is the best and most complete guitar fretboard app that I have found. Very worth the small price to getting better at guitar and finding the notes on the fretboard. Highly recommend!

I was a little nervous to purchase GuitarBlast with so few reviews but it works great! It picked up the notes from my guitar with no problem.
My only suggestion for the developer would be to put the notes from the open strings directly over the nut instead of in the black space. That black space feels like the 1st fret even though there is a zero there.

Great app to really learn the fretboard. I’m using the learn by string mode first and am already showing improvement. Needs a tuner so I can adjust my tuning to match the algorithm when in guitar mode. Also it would be nice to be able to select a key then be tested on the intervals.

I’ve used almost every method in the book to break through the mental block of learning the notes on the fretboard. This is definitely one of the best I’ve found so far. It’s super accurate when identifying what note you’re playing…and on your REAL guitar. So much better than trying to memorize the fretboard from a book or diagram. The instant feedback and stats are immensely helpful and motivating. I find myself trying for that perfect score to beat my best all the time. GuitarBlast does a great job at “gamifying” learning the fretboard. Highly recommend trying it out.

Cool gamified interface. Makes learning the fretboard far more interesting than most other apps I've tried. And I've tried many. There is a "pay once" option you'll see once you play the demo, so no subscription if you don't want it. Haven't tried using the microphone-guitar section, only the tap on the screen.

I appreciate GuitarBlast, it makes learning the notes on the guitar fun and it’s cool that it has 2 modes… 1.) were you can finger tap the notes on screen and 2.) were you play your guitar to match the note on screen. It would be cool if GuitarBlast had more games to learn the notes kinda like how rocksmith had its arcade mode.

I have been playing guitar for three years but have always had difficulty memorizing the notes on the fretboard.

This is the best app, and the best method, that I’ve ever come across to learn the fretboard. It is extremely well made, fun to play and very effective.

I highly recommend it and wish that I could thank GuitarBlast ’s creator personally.

There are a ton of different apps out there that approach learning the guitar fretboard in the same way. For me, they’re tedious and when it came time to playing in real time, it wasn’t helpful since my recall is slower.

This gamified version of guitar fretboard learning turns the pressure up to learn, while making it fun and engaging. I end up playing until I saturate, then come back the next day to continue earning stars and unlocking upgrades.

To the developer: Thank you for making this! It’s a well conceived gamification system! There’s a small bug in the version I’m on as I submit this review. Hitting “replay” on the 5x level after failing the level takes me back to main menu. This was working yesterday. Thanks!

What a great app. Provides immediate feedback. GuitarBlast tells the player which note to tap on the screen or note to be played on an acoustic or electric guitar. No wired connection is required. The sounds returned by GuitarBlast are pleasant. The graphics are very nice. There is a section to help train the player. And the player can compete with 100’s of other players by their rank of high score. Definitely worth more the price of GuitarBlast . Very nice!!

With a little effort, you will memorize all the notes on the fretboard.

I LOVE GuitarBlast! It is seriously well designed and breaks learning into bite size pieces with its extensive series of levels.
Unlike things I’ve tried in the past, GuitarBlast provides a fun and steadily progressive method for learning the fretboard. Plus, it’s the single thing that has made practicing more of a regular thing for me than I’ve done in decades. I really like that you can play guitar with GuitarBlast and it detects if you played the right note or not. Or if I don’t have my guitar with me, I can still learn and get quizzed by tapping guitar strings on screen.

Hanging out Xmas eve trying to learn fretboard for guitar have tried a bunch of apps this has the most promise so far. Haven’t even tried with my actual guitar yet - if that works, this is going to be well worth it.
