As far as I can tell, FishDeeper and the sonar device are of excellent quality and utility. Not too long ago, functionality like this would have cost way more.

However, it appears that all of the user’s bathymetry data are automatically uploaded to the company who catalogs it, anonymizes it, and combines it with other users’ data to offer their premium service (however else they might use it is unclear). The privacy policy is vague about who actually owns the copyright to the bathymetry data that the user collects with the device that you have paid for. The web site FAQ does state that you can request to have removed any bathymetry data from a private lake but ONLY if you provide evidence that you own the lake! So basically, you are paying for the privilege of collecting data for them to market as they wish.

I don’t mind this as a business model, but I wish they would be explicit so that all users know what they are actually buying into. The privacy policy or terms of use really ought to say in plain language: “You agree to turn over all of your bathymetry data to the company who can sell and market it however they choose.”

Even better would be if they’d offer the user the ability to opt out of automatically turning over the user’s own data to the company.

I wish I could show the picture I snapped of all the fish at the pond I was at today. There were a ton! It was super cold and windy so no biters so without FishDeeper and sonar I would have thought there was nothing out there. At least now I know where to hit when it warms up!

Do read detailed directions how to use it on their website. I’ve made few initial mistakes but now everything is working as suppose to.

Highly recommend the CHIRP+ or any + to go with FishDeeper . Get CHIRP if you want to detect fish. Get Pro if all you need is bottom features.

So I just got started with the Deeper sonar. It works pretty well with 2 bars on my cell. I have also found it to be very helpful with time, trying to figure out if spots have been fished out or not. Overall gets a solid A for what’s intended for.

Deeper makes the most affordable sonar for boat and bank fishing. Very easy to use and well made. I’ve had a Deeper Sonar for about 5 years and it is dependable and effective. So sensitive- it helps me get depths right from shore and in the boat.

I just got my deeper pro + since I do a long of bank fishing. I love it so far since I can also use it for ice fishing

I fish in pretty remote areas far out of cell range and on my very first trip to test my new Chirp, I paddled out to my favorite fishing spot only to discover you can’t use FishDeeper unless you login before you leave and just leave FishDeeper open until you get there. Arrggh. When I initially received my new Chirp, like a good soldier I read everything carefully and made sure I setup my account on Deeper and the Fish Deeper App properly. Pretty disappointing and very frustrating after a 100 mile round trip. After catching a couple fish the old fashioned way and returning home I've since scrubbed every resource I can find, including the user manual, and find no information regarding this issue. Is there a way to interface with the sonar device without providing login credentials through FishDeeper? Can we stay logged in after closing FishDeeper , just in case? My shiny new Chirp is probably a great fish finder but I haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet and now they just closed all our Forests due to fires! It does make a good paperweight and interesting conversation piece in the meantime. I’ll refrain from returning the Chirp for a refund and being negative by giving FishDeeper less that 5 stars for now.

Was not happy to find that I don’t get the cool new options just released in the update because the bigger screen I bought to use with FishDeeper for trips only can run 12.5.5ios. What a waist of money. Not a happy camper

I’m a little new to fishing but very competitive. I saw the Deeper Sonar Pro+ as an advantage I would have over other Anglers. I fish from Docks and River Banks and this gives me the ability to see what under the water. I have Located, Targeted and Caught fish using mine. I highly recommend it to all Anglers from beginners to experts.

So many problems making this expensive purchase little more than a neat paperweight.

Use case: I go ice fishing once or twice a year in northern Minnesota, anywhere from 8 to 25 miles from shore. There is ZERO cellular reception on an average day.

Problem 1: FishDeeper and device literally cannot be used without cellular reception. I have to log into FishDeeper just to get a depth reading. What nonsense is that? And there’s no cellular signal on the ice, so the device I brought along gets put away. Absolutely unforgivable. A guest mode or some way to skip login. I spent better than an hour trying to figure out a way to skip the login screen and did not see a way.

Problem 2: went on shore overnight. Got the device logged in. Still insane, but whatever. Opened the old app and discovered it had been logged out... glad I caught that before going out without signal! Ready for the final day of fishing! Get on the ice, drop it in a hole, open the new app... “Too deep/shallow” error, no readings at all. What? Deeper doesn’t work in 30 feet of water?

Open the old app... immediate depth reading and sounding chart. Open new app again... ‘too deep/shallow’. So the new app is just trash and doesn’t work in 30 feet of water, but has a nice UI.

Go get the old one instead. Or avoid the inane issue of requiring a cloud login to use a physical device and get a physical depth flasher.

I like the new UI, but the new app seems to have trouble connecting to my pro+ even when the old one connects fine. This happened in shallow water, when the sonar wasn’t sending any actual data, if that matters. The help message about “how to connect your sonar” kept popping up in the new app, even though I was already connected to the deeper’s wifi network. Quitting and reopening FishDeeper did not help. Opened the old app and it worked fine.

Would love to switch entirely to the new app, but can’t until this issues are figured out.

Side note: I would really like to see a data export feature for the actual sonar data (not just depth). Without access to the underlying data, it feels like I don’t actually “own” the device, I’m just renting it for as long as Lakebook is active.

I bought a Deeper Pro + together with the Deeper Smart App. It worked great for 2 years until the rechargeable battery went dead so decided to get the Deeper Chirp with a 5 year warranty. When I went to test it out the Deeper Chirp I switched Apps from “Deeper Smart” to “Fish Deeper”. The “Fish Deeper “ App displayed fish icons at the top of the screen indicating water depth of 12 feet when icon was in shallow water of 2 feet. The fish icons didn’t match the water depth which is where they should be across from the water depth. I thought the Deeper Chirp was the problem, but when I switched back to the “Deeper Smart App” it worked fine. Will you the Deeper Smart App” with my Deeper Chirp until they get the bugs worked out of the “ Fish Deeper App”.

I bought my deeper last year and used it on my kayak quite a lot since then. I really like everything about the new app except the contour lines in the mapping. I mostly fish shallow water lakes and it’s incredibly hard to read the lake contour when there is hardly any detail to the maps. However the contour lines in the lake books feature you offer online are fantastic. If you could improve the contour lines to be like lake books then I would easily give FishDeeper 5 stars.

FishDeeper had been working great for me with the exception of the ability mark catches and places, but that has been added with the latest update. I use my deeper
Chirp to connect to a gear track on my kayak and it works great and is simple to setup and connect for each trip. Great work!

The portability and functionality of these DeeperSmartSonar fish finders is incredible. I can throw it out 50-60 yards from the bank in front of me and have no issues using it. Helps me accurately display water temperature and depth. I use my pro plus every time I go out.

Cant login or create an account so the sonar is useless now.

In ice fishing mode, there’s so much wasted space. Make the data points (depth, temp, battery status,etc) bigger. Also, fine tune differences between weeds and lure when they’re close to each other. Color changes for stronger marks. Now it’s just one color.

Charges fast and easy to use. Connects well. Find those fish! Ty

I have the PRO+ it’s loses connection when when the phone is 3 feet from the bobber. Also when it is connected the data is delayed and jumpy. The readings are not smooth. Hoping this will be fixed with a update. If not I’ll probably switch to a different more reliable brand unfortunately.

I am getting a lot of lost connections. Seems to get worse the lower the battery is. Had no connection issues on full charge, however below 50% battery it disconnected a lot more

Please add distance from phone to deeper maybe calculating the WiFi signal delay. please add like a radius where fish might be. Simple number around the finder where fish might be. Even a radius on the map. Heatmap would be good too.

The old app had a pretty accurate lunar calendar as it relates to fish. Why isn’t this feature included in the new version?
