App is pretty terrible, but the content is great!

Seriously, how do you make an app designed to do one thing (read comics) and make it so hard to read the comics I subscribed to? If I want to discover something new, give me the option, but don’t force it on me (or worse, which TinyviewComics does, give me the option but forget it every time I come back to the main screen).

Also, looks like you need to give them your phone number for an account? To read comics? Shady!

But, I love Fowl Language and Lunarbaboon, which have app-exclusive content, so it looks like I’m stuck with this.

Good comics, bad app

I downloaded TinyviewComics about 45 minutes ago and it’s crashed on me twice. Also the user interface is clunky and not intuitive.
Finally, it should be easier to scroll through previous comics

Nice idea, odd implementation

I like the idea of paying for comics, and in fact have subscribed to a rival comic’s subscription service for 20 years.

I wanted to branch out a little and try something new, but TinyviewComics makes it way too hard to read the comics. When they named it “TinyView” I had no idea they meant it literally. I can’t read the comics since the text is too small, but that’s only when you manage to get to a comic. There’s no scrolling view of comics to view, just links to comics, which means there’s lots of tapping and scrolling just to get you to the opportunity to view a comic.

The final blow was when it forced me to turn on notifications and then spammed my phone with notifications.

In short, other than having good feelings of making a donation I can’t see any utility at all to TinyviewComics . The subscriber gets nothing out of this deal.

Tom Tomorrow sent me, anonymously

Creators need to be paid, and when Dan announced in the Patreon email that the strip was moving to Tiny View, I followed and subscribed. It’s a fine little app with a couple of ridiculous vexing choices. First, if you want to have an account and get some sort of benefit, you need to enter a phone number. Nope. We already have a relationship through TinyviewComics Store. I don’t give my phone number to anyone I don’t believe has a reason and permission to call me. What’s up with that nonsense? Then, if one wants to “follow” a strip, a balloon appears, demanding, “You need to go to Settings and allow Notifications.” No, I don’t. And I won’t, since you demanded it. Perhaps I’d respond differently to an invitation to be made aware when my favorite cartoon has new content for me. That’s different, isn’t it? Perhaps in future versions, they will be more respectful.

Needs to support iPad landscape mode

App is ok, does fine for phones. But I read my comics on an iPad and it’s in a keyboard case. Very irritating to have to turn it sideways, keyboard sticking out, to read the comics. Otherwise it’s fine.

Sigh. Comments? Really?

I previously considered TinyviewComics to be 4 stars (docked a star as I can’t zoom in on comics and that makes some stuff hard to read/see on my phone), and that’s why I’ve been a subscriber for some time. The addition of comments is frustrating. I like this because it is NOT social media. I simply want to scroll through the comics I follow, like the comics (to show support for the artists and make it easy for me to find what I last saw). I don’t want to see comments. But the only way I can “like” a comment is to create an account and login and then I see comments.

How do I find first unread?

As others have said, the UI/UX kind of stinks. My biggest complaint is that TinyviewComics doesn’t seem to keep track of read vs unread strips, or give a way to navigate to the first unread strip of a series.

I installed TinyviewComics to read Frankie Fearless, which is an app exclusive. The series is a serial story, where each one has to be read in order. If you miss a few and need to catch up, it can be tedious to find which one you need to read next.

Not a new concept

First off, this isn’t the first app to offer comics read in a top/down format. If anything, I haven’t been reading many comics by scrolling left to right on my phone in a while, especially with apps like Webtoons and Tapas around.
I decided to give this platform a chance since there are two cartoonists that I follow on Instagram who are offering additional comics here. I don’t mind having to download yet another app, but the platform is a bit cluttered and confusing, especially to a new user. I can’t tell if it’s unorganized or *too* organized. There’s definitely room for improvement. Also, other platforms seem to have a more compact yet readable layout when it comes to scrolling among various series. The banner layout just takes up too much space.

Too many in app purchases and ads!

I’m already paying for TinyviewComics monthly and now you can’t “like” a comic without the pop up of sending gifts. I want to send gifts but not every time I like a comic. There are also ads now on an app I pay for. I only use it for 2 comics in particular but those are 2 I like a lot so I must use TinyviewComics.

Not my favorite way to read webcomics

I want to support TinyviewComics because they pay the artists, but my first day on it I’m not super impressed with the layout. I am going to stick with it and hope more of the artists I follow on other apps join up, but wish the comics themselves were more front and center and scrollable.

5 star content 2 star app

I subscribe for the creators, specifically Fowl Language and Lunarbaboon which are both fantastic.

But TinyviewComics itself needs work and makes it difficult to read the actual comics.
- I don't like the comments, I want the comics
- hard to swipe between comics
- too many taps to read each one
- awkward lists that are hard to understand

This puts me in a difficult position because I want to support the creators of content, but TinyviewComics itself is disappointing.

Amazing comics bad interface

I would give TinyviewComics a 5 star on the comics. Worth the little money for the comics. It’s nice to have them all in on one app.

The interface is horrible no organization navigation stinks. I would give it a 1 star. Simply put. Needs an overhaul

So. I have it 3 stars in the middle.

Great artists on board, great concept model, app/service needs more features

First off this is a great model for webcomics. The artists get paid, I don’t have to deal with ads, and the subscription costs are reasonable vs something like subbing to a dozen patreons.

TinyviewComics /service really needs a few more features like RSS or email digests (make these premium, I’d pay more for them!). Also an iPad app! Seriously these days why build iPhone only?

Glad to see many of my favorite artists and hopefully many more will onboard soon!

Great App!

This an awesome way to view comments. And I’m much happier seeing some revenue flow to the artists rather than catching stuff for free on Instagram. The notifications keep me from falling behind.

The UI keeps getting better. I’d kind of like the strip summary to go away eventually, or maybe hide after I’ve seen it unless it’s changed. A bit more focus on the content and less on extra data and UI. But TinyviewComics continues to get better.

My only real complaint is that I want *all* my favorite comics to be there! (And I’d happily pay a higher premium for that.)

Good, have a couple requests

Glad to support comics. Wish there was a way to support and view in the web.

Sometimes I just want to keep scrolling between comics. The up/down arrow is a break in that flow, and is not always around.

Love it!

If you’re into great ‘toons this is TinyviewComics for you! It’s .99 a month for exclusive content and to support the artists, and I’m loving the comics. Enjoy!

Fowl Language Quackers

Fowl Language is timeless! I’m a grandmother and I remember BEING the topics, raising them, and now watching the next generation! It’s WAY funnier from this vantage point!!!!

Reminds me of TinTin

Spent many hours reading TinTin comics as a kid and these comics remind me of them. Love that I get to learn about the fascinating lives these historical figures have lived in a fun comic book format. Couple of things I’d love to see in the next comics are less narration (more first person dialogue) and some humor thrown in there :) Super excited for whatever is coming up next!

Best notification on my phone

I was hesitant to download TinyviewComics, but I wanted to see the artists’ full work I have been following for a while. I downloaded TinyviewComics , reluctantly turned on notifications for my favorite artists and have been pleasantly surprised from at least one notification on my phone will always bring me joy. Thank you!!!

Great comics!

The comics are very well done and I was really impressed by how amazing the illustrations are! The UI is very easy to use and pleasing. I am really fascinated by how these scientists lived their lives.
