Better feedback to users

The first couple of weeks of the Super League season, TheFAPlayer was great. Any video (including LIVE matches) were at our fingertips. I’m glad to see that in a short period, the League has got the attention of world wide broadcasters; however the way it has been handled by TheFAPlayer and its companion website has been less than desirable, disappointing even. It took me 20 minutes into the match I was interested in watching to finally figure out who was broadcasting the fixture in my country. An obscure comment in FB by a great fan who alerted us to that fact. When I used the website page that would show the live fixture, all I got was an unfriendly message “We’re sorry, this content is only available in certain countries”. If your system could detect that my browser was not co I got from the elite countries where the broadcast was available, it could have at least provided a link to a page with current information as to how to watch the game for the countries that you had signed up a contract for the content. When this is addressed, I’ll update this review.

On a positive note, glad the League is doing well!

The app is getting better!

2nd review. Dec, 2020
Picture in Picture glitchy. I’ve to get in out of TheFAPlayer frequently for live matches.
TheFAPlayer has gotten better with each update. Just needs to include live score update on “score” page.

Great app but could be better

TheFAPlayer is awesome for an American who loves to watch the beautiful game more than just during the summer for the USA women’s league and the various men’s game.

There are glitches every now and then that cause headaches but at least I am able to rewatch it later in the day if I get too annoyed. Just have to avoid social media.

The only thing that would make TheFAPlayer better would be to obviously fix the glitches but also develop a way to watch directly from the Apple TV. Not sure if roku, fire stick, etc are able to watch it directly.

With the clubs having their own apps that stream the games maybe the FA player can develop a way to stream them live on it’s app without have to screen mirror or cast.

Crashes

Update: crashes fixed. Good app but streaming quality is dodgy.

Excited to catch the games this weekend. Unfortunately, TheFAPlayer crashes a few seconds after loading on my iPad...

Also, being in the US, I have to watch everything delayed, so I hope there’s a way to hide scores.

fave app

Supported Arsenal for ages. Being able to easily check in to their matches from across the pond is the best thing ever!! WSL has the best thoughts behind promoting and streaming the women’s game

Don’t Bother

Requires a lot of personal info just to watch streaming services. And even if you give this you are then passed to Microsoft servers to login again. But of course you can’t because the info you just gave isn’t confirmed until you press CONFIRM in an email they send. So you do that, guess what? It still does not work. Again no reason to give all those details to anyone just to watch some streamed games. Total nonsense!

Crashes every single time

Every time I try to open TheFAPlayer on either my iPhone or iPad, it crashes. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled TheFAPlayer on both devices. I’ve completely deleted and reloaded TheFAPlayer . I’ve restarted my phone and iPad multiple times. It still crashes every single time. Soo frustrating!!!

AWESOME APP

I love watching women’s soccer and supporting the women’s side. Previously I had no way to watch games outside of my region (US), but now with TheFAPlayer I can watch live games and replays of the European clubs! Awesome!

By

Why such bad video quality

It’s a nice way to watch these games from the US but some of the video quality is shocking. Especially if you’re watching a recorded game it’s like in 360 p

Amazing but minor glitches

TheFAPlayer is great but it has minor glitches 😩 When in PIP mode it glitches and you can't watch it like that, but other that that I love TheFAPlayer !

Love the app

Would love it more if I could get goal updates in real time

Worked perfectly

Worked exactly as described. Got to watch Liverpool ladies from Whitefish, Montana, USA. Wow! Thanks so much.

Jason’s review

Overall the site is really good. I’m in California in the USA and I love being able to watch all of the WSL and championship games. There are a few bugs or issues I have. I think the biggest one is when you put the final score in the description of the highlights or full game. In other words, if I come on to see a game or to see highlights I don’t wanna know who won just by looking at the title of the highlights or the game. So, please, put more neutral pictures, another words don’t show one side cheering, and please don’t put the score in the description of the highlights or the full match. I’ve watched almost every game from both leagues for the last 2 1/2 years. Mostly, the ones I skip are the ones I accidentally see the score. I don’t really wanna watch the game if I know what happens. This is probably a budget thing so I’m not sure if there’s anything you can do. But sometimes I’ll go to the highlights, especially for championship games, when there is no commentary. Sometimes it doesn’t bug me because I’ll be doing something else and it’s kind of like being at a game. But, if it’s possible to get commentary for all the league cup FA cup and championship games I think that would be good. Again, I don’t know if that’s feasible right now but I hope it is. And I have often found that when the game ends and i go to the scroll menu on the right side of the screen to pick the next game,, it can be confusing. And if my memory is serving me it’s confusing because chronologically I think you wanna start at the top of the scroll and work your way down. But when you finish your game it will automatically move you up the scroll. That’s not usually that big of a deal except sometimes the commentators were all announce scores from other games and as I said before I don’t wanna watch a game if I’ve already heard the score. Which actually brings me to the last problem I can think of. Most of the commentators that talk about other games or just blurt out the scores. That is really annoying! This happens in a lot of different sports so it’s not just on the site. But there are a couple commentators it was a spoiler alert or give a warning that they’re about to talk about other games. I think the commentators work for this site so if that’s true, if you could just pass the memo to have them give a shout out before they’re gonna give away the scores of other games that would be really nice. And finally, while I have written this long review that may make it seem like I really don’t like the site… Overall I really loved it. I like some of the insights I like the player games. And questionnaires in the side videos that aren’t games. I like being able to CFA games and league games and obviously I like watching a WSL. I’m a huge and WSL fan and it’s nice to see women’s football around the world. I like the two sisters that have a championship show although I miss them doing the WSL show. But overall this is a really great site and thank you for putting it on

Complain

Trying to watch the Chelsea ladies game but it’s only commentary with no video. From Ghana

By

Almost perfect

The platform is nice and easy to navigate. I would just add a tab for standings/brackets of the different cups.

Great first attempt

While great IU experience TheFAPlayer needs to be available on Apple TV, Roku, etc... to offer the best fan experience.

By

Can’t watch??????

What the hell happened???? Every time I try to login to watch , it tells me it’s going to use Microsoftonline.com to login... then it goes blank... and then nothing, please fix it so can watch the games....

GARBAGE

Trying to watch matches where US players are involved and can’t. It only allows audio which is pointless. They want the women’s game to grow but it’s impossible to see anything. F TheFAPlayer.

By

A lot of personal info needed

As soon as I downloaded TheFAPlayer I almost immediately began receiving Spam calls and emails.

By

Won’t stay open

So excited to watch WSL but every time I open TheFAPlayer it immediately closes!! This happens on iphone10 and on iPad. Please fix.

Good but, Needs Work

As a football fan in America it’s been nearly impossible to keep up with the English Women so, I’m grateful that TheFAPlayer exist.

The match schedule and KO alerts are nice. There’s tons of content and it’s great that there is Live Content, too.

However, the Live Video has been glitchy and it gets even worse when casting to Chromecast. A feature I love but, the last match was almost unwatchable with so much skipping in the video.

There’s tons of potential and many other football programs can learn a thing or two from TheFAPlayer. There are some distinct flaws in the video technology department but otherwise, I’m happy to have it.

Also, a feature to select a favorite team and get an alert for all matches would be nice. I’d also like to be able to share content from TheFAPlayer to social media.

Cheers!

Spurs v Man City. Spurs get a last second equaliser..... Commentator seems to have gone home. I think I saw him cycling away from the stadium.....

Needs a lot of improvement.

Trying to use the app on my smart TV, to say it's glitchy is an understatement, when it does work the commentary is very poor, (man.utd v reading)referring to players as the Spaniard, or the goalkeeper, or the midfielder is NOT good enough, they have proper names, please learn them.

I had audio for Bristol City v Portsmouth but no video. Do I need to alter any settings? Thank you
