What a mess of an App

I wanted to like RapidRing. Fast access, easy to navigate but the constant notifications will drive you insane especially if you use the Home/Away/Disarmed modes. I have cams that are blocked when we are home since I do not want to have it record for all users access. Private areas of the home that should be blocked when I use the Home mode. Nope not with RapidRing, it just keeps recording away for all to see, places the information in your timeline for any users who have access to RapidRing including children. This is a major issue since it overrides any setting you have in the orginal ring app for ANYONE who uses RapidRing . WARNING, RapidRing does not understand Home/Away/Disarmed modes. So if you have other people who help monitor your home and you run through the house naked, SURPRISE they are getting a serious motion alert. Removing RapidRing allowed the original Ring app to go back to the job it is supposed to do. Block recording when you need it blocked. If you don’t care about the mode setting this is a great app. But when you have multiple people who have access to private areas of your home they are watching away without any notification other than by chance you looking into your timeline history. I was shocked and embarrassed at it recoding private areas of my home. If they allow RapidRing to understand the modes, I will download it in a minute.

No Help

I posted an extensive review of the original Ring app, so I won’t go into a bunch of detail here and just cut to the chase. After having an endless amount of issues with the Ring app making my cameras useless, I hoped downloading RapidRing would solve my issues. However, I’m continuing to experience almost the same problems. The camera will load more often than the Ring app but neither would load late last night when I received motion alerts. And for those who may think it’s a wireless issue, it happens whether or not my iPhone 11 Plus is on WiFi or LTE/5G and both cameras have “Great” signal.

I’m continuing to lose hope in this company over something so ignorant as making their app work like it used to. I never used to have an issue like this when I bought the original Ring Doorbell. As I mentioned in my other review, why would time and finances be spent on making an entirely new app to try and fix the issues with the other Ring app? Why not invest in fixing the one you have? It’s beyond me. I guess I will continue to pray it actually connects to my $500 cameras (Doorbell Pro/Floodlight) if and when something happens and when it doesn’t, putting my family/home in jeopardy- that moment is when I will throw them in the trash and go with another company. I mean, I have a $30 “Wyze” in-home camera that connects EVERY time.

Maybe they should fix the original app

I went ahead and installed this “fast” ring app version to try it. I logged in, tried to experience fast view of my 3 devices- all three were fast failures. Retried and they kept failing. In addition, this fast app version reports the doorbell has a bad connection. Ridiculous as the full app doesn’t report that problem, and it also pulled up live video feed just fine, but with its usual sluggishness. I have a mesh WiFi system, with a node near the doorbell- I checked my WiFi app, and it reports the doorbell has an excellent connection. The full regular Ring app agrees with my mesh WiFi app- it’s excellent. Go figure.🤪

So not a good experience here. I also find it annoying to need yet ANOTHER app- why not just fix the original app, and design it prioritize notifications and the video feed? Am I supposed to get double the notification from two apps?

The irony of my setup is my Arlos have the complete opposite issue- I get notifications super quick, with the event, and even a video preview snapshot highlighting whatever triggered the event. Great, except that pulling up video can be PAINFULLY slow. Ots faster if I go look myself sometimes. 🤦

Worthless. Simply worthless. (That’s really zero stars. )

For a few days I noticed a slight improvement in the live view connection speed. Then it slowed and balked again like always. Then I upgraded to the latest iOS and for four glorious days it worked beautifully. Now I get a message that the live view connection has been lost and that I need to connect to the internet. All of this while my wifi signal is burned into the screen. I rebooted the router and the cable modem to no avail. Used router settings to check internet speed and it’s excellent. Device health indicators all good. But no live view, just insulting error messages.

And don’t even THINK about contacting Ring for support. You call their 800 number and get a recording that the call could not be completed as dialed. “Please check the number and dial again.”

Just another miserable experience added to a litany of others related to the worthless and deceptively advertised Ring Doorbell, THE most disappointing product I ever acquired. I would SO love to have that money back.

Comprising security

If you rely on RapidRing to provide notifications of activity I would look elsewhere. RapidRing will out of nowhere log you out without notification of doing so for whatever reason. You will be presented with an “unknown error” message when attempting to log back on. Doesn't happen often but if this were to happen during a critical moment your security would be compromised without you knowing. Currently going on 7 hours without being able to log on. Ring in general is really just decent for video evidence if that and not a good real time video tool. Upon notifications in the middle of the night you find that it is difficult to connect to and unreliable because of the time it takes to connect. By the time you get a real time view you are a minute or two behind in a game that’s generally over in seconds. Don’t waste time and look elsewhere or just clear the structure yourself.

Much improves access

I was not happy with the updated App for Ring. When I went to RapidRing Store I found the alternative Rapid Ring App. It’s great!
Faster and direct to the Live View in a few simple taps. It also gives the option to link back to the original App if you want to access your history. I recommend that you download Rapid Ring if you want to speed up your Ring service.

However, it seems STUPID that it is necessary to use two apps to increase the functionality of the Ring Door Bell. The original APP worked just fine before they began to tinker and upgrade.

Not worth the trouble

I have purchased a total of four ring products. Not a single one of them has been an easy process. I decided by the time I got to the fourth one that I was just going to give it one more try. However it has proved to be more difficult than the first three. I even spoke to customer service about it and they told me there was nothing they could do since my previous cameras were outdated. The new camera that I just imstalled doesn’t function and customer service keeps telling me that it is my Wi-Fi. I have several devices that run on Wi-Fi in my home and even have a Wi-Fi extender. There’s a very strong signal to the camera that is not working correctly so I know it’s not the Wi-Fi. I feel like I’m getting the runaround. And to make it even more frustrating I always have to stay on hold for 20 or 30 minutes we’re getting actual person

Not really faster as advertised

I would like quick access to my live feed. I appreciate their effort but it still falls short of what is trying to accomplish. Still seconds before I get the video and trying to talk to the person at the door. By that time they have rung the bell again. Frustrating for me. I also get a notification on my watch but unable to have a quick picture of who/what happened at the time to set the motion off. I have to look at my watch, then go find my phone, then open RapidRing , then the intruder has done their deed and took off! I’m open to ideas too on home to use their cameras more efficient, if I can improve my habits. Please let me know. I am all in on this system! Please continue to make improvements

Loads on my iPhone quicker

I’m new owning a Ring video doorbell. Video, audio and motion sensitivity much better than what I had before. However, using the Ring app that is used to set up and modify the settings to view live to respond to a person who rang the door bell seems to lag a second or two. That’s to long in my opinion to respond to someone at your
door. RapidRing launches quickly and seemlessly works with the original Ring app that you download intitially to install and change settings. You can’t change settings or install thru the Rapid Ring.

By

Works great

RapidRing really make my cameras useable. On the past using the regular app, it took a long time to view my cameras by the time the cameras were activated everything was over. With RapidRing, I get a notification, activate the camera and see what’s happening while it is unfolding. For example, someone was just walking by our cottage on the lake path. It only takes 15-20 seconds to walk by. But I got a notification and brought up the camera before he had passed by. Since today it’s -10 out, he was in a bit of a hurry but I saw him!

By

Frustrating

rapid ring sounds better than it is it’s great if you’re just accessing the camera very fast. but if there’s motion then you access the camera it’s as long as the regular ring app to open up or losing signal we have Wi-Fi boosters we have ring bridges ring extenders high speed Internet slow speed Internet ring is what it is it’s a cheap surveillance system there’s a reason why commercial businesses do not use Ring because you cannot access the cameras 100% of the time at Best you get 65% of opening up the camera view. so in the end all you wind up with is a video of what happened after the fact scale 1 to 10 ring is a solid 5 maybe in the future it will improve but don’t hold your breath .

Terrible for battery life

RapidRing Does open up the ring camera faster, but it consistently uses up 75%+ of my battery life if I forget to close it out when I am done. For some reason RapidRing keeps using significant power even when it is not actively being used. As long as RapidRing is open on the background, my battery drains at ~4-5x the usual rate. Sometimes I’ll only get ~3-4 hours of battery life if I leave it open in the background. This is a big bug the ring team needs to solve. If solved I’d give RapidRing a 5 star.

Will not work

I have three Ring video devices and and they all workin the original Ring app. However, I cannot get this Rapid Ring app to load. RapidRing keeps tell me west up a video device in the original Ring app and will not let go any further. The thing is, I already have my three Ring video devices set and working just fine in that app. I have no clue what to do to get Rapid Ring to recognize that my ring video devices have already been set up and are working. What am I doing wrong? I gave it one star because it will not work.

Only semi-functional app for Ring hardware

As others have mentioned, the reason RapidRing exists is because the normal Ring app is no longer functional. This one at least functions but like the original app, this one seems to get slower and less responsive over time. Ring always blames any bug they create on YOUR Network..you could have a google internet server in your living room and Ring would blame any issues on the speed of your internet. Ring, stop with the deflection…fix your original app and quit making it less functional with every update.

I never write reviews but..

I think people are misunderstanding what RapidRing is all about. The actual Ring app is clunky and slow. I work from home in a quiet neighborhood and if I hear any unusual noise outside I get my phone to see what/who it is whether it’s via a phone notification or not. RapidRing screams “get to the point” and after comparison with Ring’s it does exactly what it’s supposed to.. Get you to the live view as fast as possible. Love it so far.

UPDATE: After a couple months using RapidRing I switched to it as my default notification app over the Ring app. Game changer 🙌

Connection issue

Out of the 10 times the original ring app had to reconnect this one only took 9 reconnects to view the live stream. Wow such a huge improvement. Nothing is wrong with my WiFi/ internet. Every single device I use has fast speed WiFi. I have tried getting closer to the device, using my LTE, restarting everything and yet I still have connection issue. This connection problem is seriously getting on my nerves to the point where I see no use in this camera. By the time this camera reconnects the person that was standing there for 5 minutes would have walked away. Don’t get why this is a problem for so many people. Pretty much defeats the purpose to this doorbell.

Needs one improvement

I love the “Rapid Ring” app. Not sure why it isn’t promoted within the packaging of the ring doorbell or within the ring app. (If it was, I missed it) I only learned about it from someone’s review of the Ring doorbell.
Anyway... the one improvement I would like to see is a setting that would allow me to go right to opening the live view of the one and only Ring product I currently own rather than first opening Rapid Ring and having to hit the button to open live view of the camera. That would make things even more “Rapid”. 😆

By

Improves speed but difficult to manage notifications

RapidRing works great although there seems to be some disconnect in which all the notifications are managed (snoozing, disabling, etc.) I initially was getting two sets of notifications and eventually disabled the main app somehow. Couldn’t tell you if it was from RapidRing or if I disabled from iOS settings. I think the apps could definitely communicate “better” for notification purposes. Main Ring App could prompt “I see you’ve installed Rapid Ring. Would you like to disable notifications here to avoid duplicates?”

Simpler App, Lower Resolution Video

RapidRing certainly accomplishes what the name implies - it is faster than the normal Ring app. But this is accomplished through using lower resolution video and fewer features. It seems that rather than upgrading their network and hardware they just decided it’s easier to just use less data to load faster. So while it does get you faster access to video they most likely could spend the money to upgrade on their end so you don’t have to decide between speed and quality. If they sell an HD camera with paid web access it should give you reasonably fast HD video without compromise. The tech is available if they are willing to pay for it.

Finally - Fast response is here!

If there was ever a “beef” most people had with Ring is it’s excessively slow response to activity.

This new app optimizes the performance to where you can actually “answer” the door remotely before your visitor walks away!

Long overdue, but glad it’s finally here.

One missing feature: RapidRing STILL doesn’t automatically open your camera feed for you (you STILL have to respond to a pop up notification first).

DEVELOPERS: Feature request: Allow RapidRing to be configurable to AUTOMATICALLY open the video feed automatically if:
1) Someone is moving near your Ring doorbell camera.
2) Someone pushes the doorbell button

Each of these AUTO-OPEN/VIEW options should be individually user-enabled/disabled in the user interface of RapidRing.

We didn’t pay all of this money for this product to then turnaround and NOT look at activity - right? (Motion Snooze) would continue to be available as well.

LIVE VIEW WORKS PERFECT!

I almost was about to ditch Ring all together. On the main Ring app, the one thing that had the most issues (which was one of the most important features) is live view. RapidRing fixes it and makes live view literally almost instant for me. RING....PLEASE KEEP THIS SIMPLE APP STABLE AND FAST...NO EXPERIMENTAL CHANGES!

Also, there is ONE MAJOR feature lots of users including me need. PLEASE send a notification when Ring devices go offline. Things happen and sometimes I don’t know about it. I’d love to know asap if I need to reset wifi/power upon a rare failure. It does happen time to time and I’ll only know being in the Ring app..... Not ideal.....

No Doubt It Generates a Faster Picture!

However, often the picture is very pixelated & sometimes half of the field is blocked by Green Interference so nothing can be viewed. I’m not certain if it could be the combination of Apps that I have on my Cell. Or if others are experiencing anything similar.

The Main Problem I have had & see others are having, is the long delay from the time a Ring Camera detects motion until it finally produces the video so you can see what is happening. Often my Ring Pro Doorbell has been so slow producing video that the person ringing the bell has given up & left! When only motion from deliveries of packages, is what was detected by the Ring Doorbell, the delivery man if back in his truck or Gone!!!

This Must Be Fixed By Ring For Them To Ever Gain Ground On The Market For Security Cameras!... They Are Simply Toys To Amuse Or Frustrate Anyone Who Purchases One!...

Hopefully the upper management of the company will take heed to the many complaints & rectify this condition!

I have over a dozen of their cameras & at this point I wished I had gone a different direction with my security.

Great Relief

I would say this is a great response to a growing complaint of the speed of access to live video on the main Ring App. Thanks for listening.

As to now having two Apps, I don’t mind. 90% of the time a quick look is all I need. I can do everything else “at a later time”, when seeing what is happening right now is not that critical.

Would it be nice for it to be all in one place? Yes. Is is better to now have a solution while the preferred one is being worked on (hopefully)? Definitely.

Ring is superior to the other brands

I have been using Ring products since the being, when they were called DoorBot. I saw Jamie on Shark Tank and was so impressed, I ordered one immediately.
Anytime I have had an issue they have responded immediately and I have been more than satisfied with their customer service.

I would highly recommend Ring for your video security needs.
Sincerely, E. Field

Not Ready for Release

One of the most obvious features is missing: the ability to Live View from the Haptic Touch menu via RapidRing icon. The original Ring app has this, and its way more appropriate for this version. Especially if the whole point is speed.

As it stands, to access Live View with RapidRing, one needs to first open RapidRing and then pick a camera. Two steps is actually LESS rapid than the original app, which has a Haptic Touch shortcut!

Also, the Ring-specific sounds are all missing. If you use Rapid Ring instead of Ring, all of your motion and ring notifications will become the standard iOS ding sound. No more “Motion at your front door.” That kills RapidRing for me.

By

Great Companion app for RING

RapidRing helps to pull up cams much quicker than the normal app by doing away with some of the features afforded in the RING app. You lose the ability to zoom in on video and some other features, but it does a great job of answer rings or motion alerts. I would give it a 5 star rating if the ability to reorder the list was added. As it is now the cams that I would use the most are at the bottom of the list and no way to move them to the top. It is nonetheless a welcome addition to the RING System.

By

Not a great solution

So, I downloaded RapidRing because yeah, the main app can be a little slow to open when I get a notification. Well, this one is usually faster to open, but the quality of the video is somehow way worse. Most of the time I’d have to go to the main app to even tell who was at my door. RapidRing was supposed to make things faster, and it just wasn’t.

Plus, when I try to go to the most recent alert it opens rapid ring app... but it’s only for live view/current alert. Again, making everything take longer. Uninstalled because it’s was making me more frustrated than anything. Oh, well.

By

Worthless

I just downloaded RapidRing, set it up, including allowing notifications. Then I walked in front of camera to test and got....
Nothing! 2 ring apps and no notifications on either. Walked around and even waved my hand in front of it. Nothing. Finally got far back away and walked towards it and finally got a notification. Clicked on it and.... nothing! Wouldn’t load, but gave a message about not having access to private WiFi??? I’m at home....
I spent a lot of money on these cameras. I’m paying for a subscription for cloud. Have 2 apps on my phone that don’t work. I’m starting to feel like I’ve been scammed.
Very disappointed.

Exactly what I wanted

So far my experience with RapidRing has bee great. On top of wing able to access the live feed a little bit faster, you can keep it active for much longer. It does eventually fail connection but sometimes I can go 30-60 minutes before it disconnecting. My only wish is the go live button was bigger. Especially for the iPad version, the icon is just quite small. Hopefully that can be made bigger.

By

It’s good. It’s fast. But . . .

When I activate voice in the live view I can hear my myself. Everything I say comes back through the audio on my end. In other words it has no automatic voice cancellation. No doubt this makes the system much faster, but it also means that you can’t hear what the person at your door is saying if they respond to what you’re saying while your own voice is still coming back to you.

By

Wow I was not Expecting this

I thought when it was live view RapidRing would open up with all the cameras all ready on live view at the same time like the first ring app but live view
Without having to press a button for each one.

Them the worst part is to receive notification
From RapidRing you have to select yes. But is all the same Notification tone. I don’t know the different between each camera is unbelievable. You have to select you don’t want Notification and let the old app keep sending you the notifications.

It doesn’t even let you select the order you want the camera on RapidRing .

Give me the impression they wrote RapidRing in a week and threw it out there.

I have axis camera inside the house and I have a app ipCam You can see all 10 cameras at the same time live view in secs RapidRing opens up and if I walk in side the house I can see myself with no lag.

RapidRing needs a lot of work 0star.

Continuous problems

RapidRing works great for a week then won’t load when I have a notification of movement on my Ring cameras. Nothing fixes it, except to delete RapidRing and reinstall it. This is a huge hassle when you are trying to see what’s going on at your house!! At this time I have downloaded RapidRing because of these “jamming” problems, 4 times. I would probably be better off not to use this Rapid Ring app at all and stuck with the slow load of the basic Ring app. However, when it does work, it’s great! I don’t know why they can’t get the bugs out. Very frustrating.
