Does the job

First off, I absolutely love my Linea Mini! Every morning after I make my latte, I often think or even say out loud, “This is the best latte I’ve ever had!” And that happens every day! Love, love, love. That being said, LaMarzoccoHome needs some love of its own. I have also noticed it takes time to auto-connect to the machine. It’s not horrible, but in today’s world of instant everything, it can be improved. I have also noticed that sometimes, it won’t connect at all. It takes a hard reboot of the machine. Machine or app’s fault? Don’t know. Needs to be addressed. Lastly, I think a great addition would be to enable the use of Siri to turn the system on/off remotely. I hope you add this in the next major update!

Sad

LaMarzoccoHome is a finicky disappointment. It’s sad that such a lackluster, buggy and clunky app is the partner to such a beautiful, hardworking and elegant machine. I love my GS/3 like I love my mother, but LaMarzoccoHome is constantly logging me out, forcing me to reset my password, and being annoying in other ways.
The primary purpose, and reason I’m so bummed about LaMarzoccoHome is that you need it to put your machine into standby / sleep mode, to adjust the brew temp, and to set an auto on-off schedule (which in theory is a beautiful feature). If only it worked. La Marzocco has an office in seattle. I wish they would give LaMarzoccoHome to some smarty techy seattle kids so it would work. Instead it’s like a cranky computer connected to an antique Italian sports car. It’s a bummer.

Such a disappointment from the best espresso machine company!!!

I’ve had LaMarzoccoHome for my Linea Mini since it’s inception and have been through all the updates and it never fails to disappoint me.
It rarely stays connected. It’s almost always connecting remotely when I’m home and clearly not off the network and it’s just uninspired and frankly dull.
The only things that are useful, when it works, is being able to turn my machine on/off remotely so it’s ready when I get home, setting an on/off daily schedule and the settings to allow for pre-infusion.
LaMarzoccoHome needs some Silicon Valley ingenuity behind it!

Good idea, needs some bugfixes

It does what it is supposed to and appreciate the ability to control the machine. But loses your login credentials often, making it cumbersome and annoying to use daily. Doesn’t support thumb/face id. Does not work well with a password manager (comes up as “app” instead of being properly named) and LaMarzoccoHome doesn’t detect the autofill without a keyboard modification. Limited functionality when not on home network (annoying). Hopefully with a little effort they’ll fix LaMarzoccoHome - a day or two of bugfixes and it would be much better. I’d retrofit my other machine if they do.

Now that I am connected

I was having trouble connecting my lines to LaMarzoccoHome . Support was super helpful and responsive. Something LaMarzoccoHome doesn’t tell you when setting it up- after you turn on the machine wait until the blue light comes on to move the paddle back over. And like magic connection:)

Since I have updated my router I don’t have any connection issues.

Love the usage of LaMarzoccoHome and for the time I was not connected I love my settings stayed the same as I had set

Very good

First of all, my Linea Mini is reliable and produces spectacular coffee itself. That previous statement may even be an understatement.

As for LaMarzoccoHome , it’s almost there.

The organization of LaMarzoccoHome may be slightly bulky so to speak. I think the only tab that really makes sense is the status/machine remote control tab. The others aren’t really used and could be packed into a different corner.

Additionally, connection was an issue. This needs to be sorted out in my opinion. With a couple of devices using the same account, the machine loses connection, and we had to start over. Also, the machine can tend to jump on a different network. I think that the connection could be more straight forward, but once we got it up and running once again, it’s pretty good.

I would highly recommend La Marzocco, but maybe the recommendation would be accompanied by a couple of tips for dealing with LaMarzoccoHome .

Bad

Every time LaMarzoccoHome updates I have to reset my password to log back in. The password standard the website uses is different than the password standard LaMarzoccoHome uses. So the website will accept the password change but LaMarzoccoHome will kick it back when I try to log back in. Its a nightmare and I dread it every time there is an app update. Secondly they could do a much better job clearly explaining what certain adjustments do. Simple pre-infusion is very confusing to adjust in LaMarzoccoHome . At this point I’m just uninstalling LaMarzoccoHome until improvements are made.

Still Disappointing- Here are Pros & Cons

Here are the PROs and CONs (latest version of app matched with new Linea Mini)

CONS

• Rarely connects properly (1 of 4 times)

• Often requires quitting and restarting app to update data like temperature changes

• Sometimes requires deleting app and reinstalling to connect properly (you lose all your data when you do this)

• Often takes a very long time to connect or update

• Horrible privacy policy- I actually read these and it’s one of the worst I’ve seen. Short version- La Marzocco monitors everything you do and has the right to do whatever they want with that and your personal information

• Clunky unfriendly interface

PROS

• IF you can actually get it to connect and work AND you don’t mind giving up all rights to your personal information:

The temperature settings, shot timer, and scheduling could be useful

Would be great if it wasn't so buggy

Logs out all the time. Doesn't work with password manager because email needs to by typed by hand. Keeps reminding every single page that it's in remote mode.

And not even "report a problem" works. For a coffee machine that is otherwise incredible, this is a sad showing.

By

Potential

It does what it claims, but it could be snappier. It sometimes needs to reconnect when going from page to page. Also, I’d love to see the shot timer accessible on the lock screen, or have it automatically display regardless of where you are in LaMarzoccoHome . If true pre-infusion could happen, that would be a game changer (for me). :) I’m looking forward to any and all new updates!

By

On its way of being good

LaMarzoccoHome looks OK. My two suggestions:

1. Create a true pre-infusion where the motor is off and the solenoid is on. My machine is plumbed and I get line pressure. The user could chose to select plumbed or reservoir options.

2. I noticed an offset of about 5.8F between the temperature wheel and the temperature read in LaMarzoccoHome . I’m not sure which is correct. It would be nice if the two matched.

Privacy Please

I love my La Marzocco Linea Mini and while I trust La Marzocco to make great coffee in my
home, I don’t trust La Marzocco to scan my networks (wifi and bluetooth) and store
my user data indefinitely (according to their privacy policy) and associate that data with my person for marketing reasons beyond the IoT functionality of my machine. My recommendation to the developers, use HomeKit. Implement the HomeKit api and let me use my Home app on iOS to interface with my machine. Until then, I’ll be using my machine the way it’s designed, to make great coffee, without harvesting my data.

Good enough app

Would love to have basics like split view. App is reliable and can’t wait to see if developers make this look a little bit more modern with updated graphics, color and content. Maybe even a feature where linia mini owners can socialize and ask question.

By

Don’t bother downloading

The machine is great, LaMarzoccoHome is not. I just got the machine today, and tried all day to connect without success. While it’s able to pair, LaMarzoccoHome can’t move pass the next step and forever stuck in that limbo zone where it says “looking for machine connection”.

Horrible experience, but luckily, not a necessary need after looking into what LaMarzoccoHome is able to do.

Getting there

Would recommend maybe even having a cleaning option that will run an automatic cleaning cycle. (On screen instructions and everything)

Right now, I turn off pre-brew so as to do the back flushing without interruption, and then then it back on.

Another thought would be to allow to keep steam boiler off for those that just make espresso (a surprising amount do that); sort of a ‘eco mode’ option.

Keep up the great work guys.

Connection Issues

Just the original board replaced on my Linea Mini and was keen to use LaMarzoccoHome however it won’t connect to the camera on my phone so won’t pair with the machine or even see it. No response from La Marzocco after my dealer called, I sent a support request in and then a phone call. Seems to be not ready for prime time or usefulness with this level of machine.

By

Full of bugs

Often doesn’t connect. Freezes when left for more than a minute or two. Shot timer sometimes miscounts. Shot timer only works from status page. About the only thing that works OK is the temperature control, and even that has the irritating property that if you set 198F you actually get 197.9. Yes I understand degrees C to F conversion, but still.

By

Good espresso, horrible app

The worst app I’ve ever used. It’s good for turning on the machine from bed but that’s about it. Even that is sluggish and annoying.
It takes 15 minutes to get the boiler up so turning it on from bed is wonderful but LaMarzoccoHome is terrible. If I thought the developers cared, I would describe why it is so bad but we aren't buying this machine for it’s awful app.

By

Needs work

LaMarzoccoHome works great with my Linea mini. However, the fact that I need to constantly re-login is annoying. I understand it’s for security purposes. It would be great if you add Face ID authentication for ease of login.

By

Temperature

LaMarzoccoHome is good, but could be great by including more machine function capabilities. One easy improvement that would be nice would be to show the group head temperature, not the boiler temp.

By

Connectivity

Can you please make LaMarzoccoHome work for 5 GHz networks? It is very impractical to require a 2.4 GHz network just for one app.

By

Bluetooth Issues

Often have to delete LaMarzoccoHome and repair with the machine. For a 5k machine, it would be nice to have some consistency with LaMarzoccoHome . Needs work, as it is a continually point of frustration.

Can’t log in

Web account credentials don’t work with LaMarzoccoHome. In fact web account username not found per password reset flow, so somehow they did not connect web user database and LaMarzoccoHome user database. Pretty amateur, and not a good sign for the thoughtfulness that went into security for an IoT device your way me to trust on my home network.
